Yeah it could be matters of hours before City make an official bid

It is very close and also some reports say that Ronaldo has asked Juventus to let him leave but he won't be leaving for free as he is in contract and maybe City thinks 30m is too much for 36 year old maybe. Right now according to oddschecker.com, Ronaldo to City is at as low as 1/5 and that goes to say how close it is. Still things could change at any point and it is not good to actually rely on bookmakers odds to see but they make the odds after pulling out information from multiple sources-they could be right or could be wrong.

So we have the Cl group draws completed and now with PSG and City in same group I am sure there would be lot more fans rooting in for Ronaldo to City to happen and it is not that far out. And Ronaldo to City are real and City just need to make a bid and not cling on to free transfer. This CL draw made the transfer window more exciting  Cheesy

Lukaku slow seems to be a major complaint in England yes,,, but I do not think anyone in Italy ever complained. But maybe he does not need to be quick, he just needs to be strong and that he is. I think VVD looks fast and strong, but maybe not as much as Lukaku, who reminds me a lot of Drogba,,, except not as fast!

I think you need a good pace in PL as a striker or maybe good enough with first touch and making rooms and surprise defenders and tuck in some goals. Another thing as a striker he could do is tee a perfect for other players in wing or midfielder to striker. But as a striker and the job he was signed in I think he needs to have a pace. But anyway its just one game and we have lot of games to see so let's see how he adjusts into team.

Next game is a tough job for him and a good chance to prove himself and the tag he was bought for.

Can't wait to see Ronaldo Manchester City. It's rumored Cristiano Ronaldo it's done deal. Because of the legacy at Manchester United sad day for those who loved CR7 from ManU. Apart from that it seems a good move where he might win a couple more trophies.

Yep if you look at Fabrizio Romano's Twitter status Cristiano Ronaldo joined Man City. On a two year contract. For a fee of £22 million + a season-long loan from Kevin de Bruyne. Ronaldo will receive a salary of around £20 m.

Sorry to say this but I think you got the wrong account. That is display name and not the handle Fabrizio Romano actually uses which is @FabrizioRomano. What you got here is someone impersonating or someone trolling on internet or maybe someone trying to get some good amount of followers on twitter by circulating fake news. While yeah the reports are Ronaldo to City is very close but right now City wants to get him on free transfer and Juventus wants a fee around 30m Euro for Ronaldo

Even though arsenal won big against west brom in the second round of the EFL cup, but i have a little doubt that arsenal will be able to play well against manchester city, in my opinion, a win against west brom can't be a reference if arsenal has returned to its best performance , because I saw that in that match the West Brom players made a lot of mistakes and their defense played not coordinated at all, making it easier for Arsenal players to score goals, and of course Manchester City have a squad level far compared to West Brom and even Arsenal at this time.

The way Newport were defending anyone could have past good amount of goals. Shouldn't be much happy with their performance as their real test is in PL. Next up is City against them and having started up quite badly after losing opening two matches, efforts will be to avoid the 3rd but they are up against a very good team so won't be easy. Good news is that Lacazette and Aubameyang has recovered so they will be available and also our new signing Odeegard also might feature in this match. So hoping for a good match and make less defensive mistakes in those earlier two matches.

Oh, it is not nice news to hear I'm afraid. Many people including me have been expecting Harry Kane to leave the team this summer. But he made an official announcement about his staying.

Can understand some wouldn't be happy like those who wanted Kane to make a change or like City fans but it would be wonderful news for Spurs fans and those who hates City. So it is something that pleases some and displeases others but anyway at least we are hearing some things for final and not some news that goes dragged on and on.

Also any thing can change. With the appointment of Nuno Santo I thought so that Spurs would be playing quite well and that might change Kane's mind and it happened. What Kane wants is a good team and manager and a good achievement and now he sees he can get one under Nuno so why not try while he still has his contract left .

Now, this means that Manchester City can focus on signing Cristiano Ronaldo. They would really make use of a strong forward now and Ronaldo would be a very good choice for them. But I wonder whether they will manage to reach an agreement with Juventus on a good transfer fee.

Well that is what it looks like now but it is also not that clear. Allegri during the weekend ahead of their clash with Udinese confirmed that he would stay but who knows. In Fabrizio Romano's podcast he told the viewers that Juventus if willing to let Ronaldo go then would expect a bid around 25m Euro. Still lets see where it goes. It's an interesting potential move to follow.

Agreed, Lukaku vs Van Dijk will be an amazing battle to watch. I think that Van Dijk is physically strong enough to stop him both in air and on the ground and overall I still feel Liverpool is a better team when they have their strongest team at their disposal.

I would have been a lot more scared of Chelsea if they brought Haaland, Lukaku is a beast but players like Werner and Havertz would have a better chemistry and offensive flow with a player who's a bit more technical than Lukaku. Him and Werner combining - that will be a major issue for Chelsea.

I read that Virgil has not had the best games since coming back in the early EPL 2 games so he will probably be quite nervous to make sure he impresses. It is always so hard to come back from an injury so bad it puts you out for an entire season + the EURO so I hope he is back to his best. So we can see Lukaku and Virgil show us what giants in offence and defence look!

I think this can be a 3-3 draw  Cool

Van Dijk is playing decent IMO and right now he is playing a decent role in CB and not pushing him too hard I suppose and that is doing enough job. Now Lukaku vs Van Dijk is a debate that I thought would come after end of this gameweek and going over it I ask- What does it take to handle Lukaku? We all saw the first game and I honestly think Lukaku in the PL needs to have some pace. Question is who reacts quick to one's move. IMO Van Dijk has great awareness and great reading of the opponents plays. I think Van Dijk would be ready with all the deliveries being done from wing-backs to inside for Lukaku to throw in some shots off header or Lukaku receiving the ball and trying to find some room to slot in some shots. I feel like Van Dijk and his defense line would be ready for Blues attacks in the next match.

Yes, maybe they can go for Cristiano Ronaldo in that case. But there have been some rumours about Ronaldo also that he might join Manchester City before the end of this transfer window. But Manchester City's priority is Harry Kane right now. And this could mean that PSG will be the only team trying to sign Ronaldo. But it is still not clear whether Mbappe will stay or go now. It is said that Real Madrid made an offer worth €160m but PSG were really surprised by it. Because they want minimum €200m for Mbappe.

Word just came out that Harry Kane is gonna be staying- no reporter or any articles and it comes surprisingly up from Harry Kane's official twitter handle saying that he was overwhelmed with the fans support on Sunday's game and is now gonna stay 100% in team and work towards helping team achieve success. So that shuts down all the Kane to City possibilities but now we have another drama rolling up - "Ronaldo to City"  Cheesy .

(Source: Harry Kane tweet:  https://twitter.com/HKane/status/1430496495225262084 )

PSG will not let Mbappe go without involving a luxurious transfer fee like when they bought Neymar from Barcelona. Mbappe is a young player who is still developing and therefore PSG want a higher offer than Real Madrid's offer. I don't think at the moment no team can afford it, Manchester City might be able to but FFP will deter those teams from buying him at a high price.

After all, Real Madrid may have to deal with Laliga's salary regulations which previously required Messi to leave not on his will. Mbappe will earn a lot there and maybe Madrid should adjust player salaries and balance the composition of the team by selling some veterans or players who are not used much to buy Mbappe. There must be another sacrifice in the Real Madrid team if you really want to buy Mbappe.

I think it is evident that he is gonna try for Real Madrid move. I think even if other teams are interested in him Madrid will always be interested in Les Parisiens forward and also Mbappe will chose Real Madrid over other teams. So even if City as you say gets interested in the forward they won't be the first choice as long as Madrid's offer is on table (that is what I think)

As for LaLiga regulations, don't know what happened with there but it was bit careless from Barcelona I think to work everything out and just don't get it out with LaLiga which saw them unable to extend Messi contract. I think that would be a lesson for all the teams and I think given how reluctant Madrid are to get Mbappe, I think they are gonna double-check those things and get everything straighten out before they finalize the move. As of now PSG are trying it hard to not sell Mbappe and keep it till contract end (?) as it seems which I feel is kind of a bold move.

Quote
French journalist Julien Laurens has since reported that PSG have turned down Real Madrid's offer. The Ligue 1 giants appear to be unwilling to sell the forward this summer and appear poised to turn down any future offer for the striker as well. Next summer, Mbappé could become the most valuable free agent transfer in football history.
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe-wants-to-leave-paris-saint-germain-real-madrid-offer-rejected/view/news/391608

personally, i think psg can't afford to let this player go next season without a transfer fee and also give up ~€200 mio this year

They will if they don't now. Real Madrid knows that there isn't much time left in his contract but still they offered them 160 m but PSG want more than that according to some reports in order to let Mbappe leave. Personally I think it's another scene where club actually wants to keep the player against his wishes but by doing so they are forgetting that they are only welcoming loss when the player leaves for free.

Well that was Real Madrid first offer and that one got rejected. Question is whether if they will put another offer on table ? Or just wait for Mbappe to go free contract?

If anyone can compile a list of all the reputable journalists associated with each Premier League team I would be pretty grateful for that. I don't know most of them, and only know the journalists which are close to the club that I support, and follow. I literally never check popular news websites like TalkSport, Sky Sports or even the BBC since they usually quote tabloid nonsense.

I would be more than happy to start looking out for such journalists linked with teams for team reports and news to get some credible news and would request Trofo to add the to the main post. Others are also more than welcome to suggest me some journalists if they know- just add @Avirunes with the post so that I get notified about your post.

There is one JamesPearce which is a good journalist..Mellisa Reddy checking rn.

^^ Interesting. Popular football transfer news reporter yesterday reported that Mikel Arteta has full confidence of Arsenal board. I also think it is a bit hard to swallow but come again to think about it well would they allow so much transfers breaking the 100m mark in transfers if they didn't had confidence? We all know how Arsenal are in transfers but this transfer window they have been much active. I think Arteta still got chances left to prove himself.
Yeah, popular transfer news websites don't actually mean they're accurate. In fact, I'd say the most popular football transfer news reporters are working for terrible companies like the Sun, Daily Mail, and TalkSport. They aren't accurate at all, and the reason they're popular is because they get people talking about big transfers.

I personally recommend looking for journalists which are close to the club. For example, for Liverpool we have James Pearce, and Melissa Reddy who are exceptional sources for transfer news, because they're practically mouth pieces of the club. They are also decent for Everton I believe. They don't usually speculate too often, and when they do they make it clear that it is their opinion, rather than basing it on recent developments inside or outside the club.

Yeah I agree with you totally. Those news sites just sell false rumours in order to get some views. I follow only Fabrizio Romano and ever since I have followed I have never heard of any false rumours. All the rumours were true and went through. And it came from that source. Would love to see a list of such reporters tied up with the club.

Regarding Arteta , I know everyone are skeptical given the situation of the club and why won't they be, there haven't been any change in ranks or finishes ever since he came but reports are that club are having faith in him. You know it will run down after couple of flop shows but well let's see.
2292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 24, 2021, 02:26:27 AM
The Telegraph reports that Arteta held a meeting with the club's management, where he was given five matches to correct the situation with the team's results. This is the last chance for Arteta from the team management, after which he will be dismissed. By the way, the defeat against Arsenal was the 20th under the leadership of Arteta and it took 60 matches to get such a result. For example, for Arsene Wenger, who previously led Arsenal, it took 116 matches for 20 losses. However, there are some problems with the squad, because any coach will not be completely happy when you have COVER-19 Willian, Lacazette, Aubameyang, as well as Nketiah, Partey, Gabriel are injured.

About the last match, Ben White was unable to play as he was COVID+ so now can understand why he was unavailable for London Derby. So I can see why Arteta had to work out with Mari.  Undecided

Spurs are also in speculations about moving Ronaldo from Juventus. Portuguese connection.
If you look at Traore statistic in last year, he scored just twice and have few goal chances created. nothing special. he knows how to flash for a moment, but then becomes invisible for a few games. He is not a player for something more serious.

That's an interesting one. I think yesterday Juventus coach Allegri declined rumours regarding Ronaldo leaving Juventus so I don't think he is moving out of Juventus. Furthermore, I also don't think any clubs are interested on him maybe due to wages?

As for Traore, last season was a horrifying one for Wolves as they were not far from the relegation zone. Their main striker Jimenez had a skull fracture and had to sit out the whole season and Traore had to see a shift in his positions or play along side striker who was inexperienced- Fabio Silva. So I can understand the stats but I think Traore is a great player. I still recall the contribution he made in the comeback win against City and how he played part in that one goal.  Cheesy
2294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 23, 2021, 04:03:57 PM
Spurs are in talks with Wolves for Adama Traore. I think it would be a great transfer given the attribute Traore possesses- his physique, his pace so it would be a strong man in wing which Spurs need right now. So I can see what Nuno is thinking there by adding another pacy winger in the team. Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Son all have tremendous pace and adding Adama Traore in there would make their team extremely strong on counters. Now they just need to keep a hold on Kane and that's it- a perfect team.

Soton made a draw and It was a well deserved one.

Wolves should have won as Spurs simply plays awful and hardly to watch and enjoy a football like they play.

Arsenal is in full reconstruction mode and Chelsea is already leading with 2-0. I would say that this year we must have so much patience with this team as without support from the fans , the players won't perform good no matter who is coaching them.

Regarding bets ...well I had Wolves to score...

For a moment Southampton almost gave a scare to Manchester United. Southampton had good chances and easier ones but just couldn't get it past deGea. Adam Armstrong is a great replacement signing for Ings. As compared to Ings, he has good pace and need to make his finishing better.

Arsenal one was expected but still Arsenal should have done better. Defence flopped out once again but we also had some chances where we worked out Mendy real good. Arsenal are up against City next  Smiley

Wolves actually had chances to score. The best chance was when Traore came in one to one against Lloris but wasn't able to score. I think Traore should have scored there but yeah they put up a good show against Spurs.

2296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 22, 2021, 06:02:28 PM
Agree, I'm personally still not 100% sure on Lukaku because he only has a strong body and good finishing but doesn't have the speed, about his movement that is not so fast it can still be covered by his strength. Still waiting for Chelsea and Lukaku against better teams like City, if Lukaku is still unstoppable then I admit I was wrong about him. But anyway, congratulations to Chelsea and as always, there's a lot of work and effort that Arsenal have to do if they don't want to be relegated at the end of the season.

Next up is Liverpool against them and that would be very good test for both teams. Both teams have strong players and it would be also a good test for Lukaku to go up against Van Dijk and Matip who so far have played really well in starting two matches. It would be a thrilling contest to watch.
2297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 22, 2021, 05:19:58 PM
Chelsea now has a perfect No9, Already lukaku would had scored twice but the second chance was not given to him. I am predicting a three to four goals scorelines as I am still waiting on lukaku to score more goals. Everybody in the Chelsea squad is playing well except for few mistakes that almost caused an own goal by jorginho.

Lukaku is a poacher inside the box. His finishing is good but he lacks pace. So some central defence with good awareness and experience will handle him quite well. Today Arsenal CB's are doing mistakes as expected. I still wonder why choose Mari over White. Holding is a good selection but not Mari in a match like this. Arsenal had couple of chances but Chelsea did well to handle them.
2298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 22, 2021, 03:02:22 PM
After ManU managed to get the draw, they tried to score for the next few minutes but later you have the feeling that Southampton is trying to score, which failed thanks to de Gea, and ManU is fine with the draw!! 2 points lost from ManU today unfortunately.
Spurs got their second 3 points with only 1 goal scored for each game..

Both United and Southampton had good chances to score. Southampton chances were much easier but De Gea knew what was coming onto him and pulled out the best to protect his net. Also Southampton would be quite relieved with result they got but feels like Saints might have pulled a 3 point out of this one.

BTW was it me or Matic seemed like a bit out of focus. Lose touch and so but yeah defensively he was good.
2299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 21, 2021, 04:52:32 PM
Aubameyang as goalscorer for Arsenal cannot play tomorrow of course this is a loss for Arsenal while on the other side Chelsea play full of confidence the main players will be there, with a situation like this I don't see a chance for Arsenal to win even though playing at home I even predict Chelsea to win by more than 1 goal.
Why are you so sure that Aubameyang's absence is an advantage to the Chelsea side. He’s been out of form for some months now and they’ve been other players that are performing better in his position than him. Arsenal can still win Chelsea. It doesn’t mean that everyone must be present to do that. Football is a funny game. Let see how it goes.

There have been so many games where our young guns have surprised big teams but it is a very heavy fixture. Chances of winning might be slim for Arsenal but I don't think they have no chance. Its just that availability of Lacazette and Aubameyang would have put some experienced players on attack and could have increased some chances. But well let's see its not that far out and is the heavy fixture this weekend.
2300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 21, 2021, 04:15:43 PM
Arsenal will always proved stubborn whenever they play Chelsea, I don't see any difference when both team file out tomorrow, Arsenal might have been performing poorly against other mid table and below teams in EPL, however they always give Chelsea a tough time, historically in the last two seasons both FA cup and league matches Arsenal had always have an edge over Chelsea, in most of their previous encounters, despite non availability of some
of their key players due to injuries, the likes of pacy Martineli, Saka and Pepe can cause havoc on their opponent tomorrow

I am an Arsenal fan but right now we need a good offense to break down the Chelsea's defense. What Arsenal needs is Aubameyang and Laca to be back again in for this fixture so that we have good edge in attack. Also we need to perform good defensively as well. Right now lot of players in Arsenal defense panics when they receive the ball and we certainly don't want that. We need a good and confident defense line and not which panics when opponents starts to close down.
