2281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The transaction fee is just ridiculous. on: December 04, 2014, 02:46:35 PM
You can avoid the fees if you use electrum where you can set it to zero. But you must fulfilled certain conditions like age and size of the transaction. If you are sending large tx who cares of the fees which adds up few cents. So it all depends on how you look at it.
2282  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do you think the auction will affect the price, why? on: December 04, 2014, 02:40:30 PM
Great...another one. I bet just like in July we can see a sudden price drop. But this time it might be different cause we are at the 300 support level so probably after that it will be a quick rebound back to 400-ish. If i knew earlier about the auction i would hold off my btc purchase.
2283  Economy / Economics / Re: Satoshi didnt give us bitcoin to make a bunch of nerds rich. on: December 04, 2014, 02:34:15 PM
I run a business that deals mostly in the internet, so most of my money gets middle manned by paypal and other payment processors. At the moment about 20percent of my users pay in btc, so i can easily see a future in which all online payments are conducted in bitcoin. I can understand why you cant see the potential of bitcoin if you dont conduct business on the internet.

I bet by using btc you saved a lot on the fees. Coupled of years back around 2012 when i was accepting large payment for sale of items i should have thought of using btc. But then can't blame myself cause btc infrastructure during then wasn't as good as today.
2284  Economy / Economics / Re: How much did your salary increase over the past 5 years? on: December 04, 2014, 02:26:44 PM
More than 50%. I was lucky I went into the right industry that practically pays you according to the salary scale based on your newly acquired skills and training plus also the experience. So bitcoin is considered like an extra hobby for me rather than fully depending on it.
2285  Economy / Economics / Re: What would you do if the US Dollar crashed ? on: December 04, 2014, 02:23:01 PM
Not sure if speed buying can help you take advantage of the spread but if that is the case and you are so confident that usd will crash, then just directly buy euro against usd. Use some of the fx service that let you hedge 100 times your available fund.
2286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone still using BTC? And what on? on: December 04, 2014, 02:13:13 PM
Maybe one day somebody would set up a new video sharing site where there won't be so much restrictions and they have an advertising program that really pays in btc. Whether it is by pay-per-view or by active click, that would be awesome Smiley oh yeah and also an affiliate program
2287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will happen? on: December 04, 2014, 12:14:53 PM
That reminds me of an article which I read in a local newspaper about an investment banker who advices people against investing in bitcoin as what he call a "fake money". If only I wish he fully realized what he was talking about. I bet he'll get bombarded by community members here
2288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin super stable lately? Question about price. on: December 04, 2014, 12:08:34 PM
Well if you go to coinmarketcap you can see there is a small graph on your right hand side that practically shows the price movement history. Just need to click the "all" tab. However the information is far from complete as the graph functions are limited and will only give you a rough overview. Probably there are better graphs, may some other members will point it out
2289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Can We Make Bitcoin Mainstream? on: December 04, 2014, 12:00:39 PM
Time will tell. Continue to promote coin existence. Target group is definitely those who frequently make cross border transactions. Although I can't say there are many stores accepting bitcoin payment but who cares whether you spend it or not? Put bitcoin as form of investment. I'm sure people would take notice of that. But as I've said....still a long way to go
2290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Money Expo on: December 04, 2014, 11:53:07 AM
Huh? Virtual expo? There is no mention of keynote speaker (if there is any) and also can't find information on the organizer. Anyway I've sent in my application. Just waiting for my invite pass.
2291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $80,000,000 dollar transaction just hit blockchain! on: December 04, 2014, 11:46:36 AM
I just checked the price on coinmarketcap and it is still at around the same level days ago. If the guy bought btc from open market, that would translate to price jump but no... so probably my guess is some early adopters moving around or consolidating the btc to their own new account perhaps?Huh
2292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a Bitcoin Vs. MasterCard Graphic on: December 04, 2014, 11:39:15 AM
The statement "Store of value" should belong to bitcoin. Just to be fair towards this community. Btc price though has been decreasing but I can see that 300 usd seems to be the bottom support. Just bought my small stash at 350 so I expect to go up in years to come Smiley
2293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a Hidden Secret Code in bitcoin protocol??? on: December 03, 2014, 02:13:38 PM

Well you guys do have a point, but there is also chance that thousands of these shenedigans probably might not notice anything as demonstrated by this coincreator dot net. Thing is one does not need to be a master coder but probably just the basic of programming will be enough to get through. Why not we ask ourselves....Statistic wise how many of these thousands of altcoin have the blend of the word "innovation" in it?Huh

Well, you also need to consider that there are non-C++ implementations of Bitcoin clients, for example, those Java-based SPV clients. Although the languages bear some similarities, you can't just copy-paste C++ code into a Java file when you port over logic. You first need to understand what the original code does and then translate that to the new language.

Yeah you do have a valid point there. That clears off a lot of doubts that I had initially. And appreciate your effort to point that out in a more constructive manner.
2294  Economy / Economics / Re: selling my mined btc for euro instead of usd on: December 03, 2014, 01:31:09 PM
If your concept is buy at the lowest price then euro is the option. Usd is rallying against all currencies right now. If buying based on trend then basically you are going against the flow. Either way it still goes back to similar like betting euro against usd. Hope you've made the right choice. Heard they say the usd rally is just at its beginning
2295  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin were backed by something. on: December 03, 2014, 01:23:51 PM
For now bitcoin is all about acceptance. It's backed by community support and people's belief in it as reflected in the increasing hash rate. If you take something tangible and try to use it as a medium to support bitcoin, not sure how that would work out. Could that item be quantified and more valuable than bitcoin.... i really don't have the slightest answer.

Bitcoin is owned by the community and it's not possible for the community to buy something let's say gold to keep it and support each and individual coin??
2296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vacation tours in major tourist cities on: December 03, 2014, 01:09:24 PM
Maybe not right now but in few more years to come there would be significant changes. What I would like to see is a complete tour package from accommodation to foods to sightseeing all in one. To think of it that gives me a business idea on creating one. Would certainly sell for bitcoin lovers
2297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying historically significant bitcoins? on: December 03, 2014, 01:04:01 PM
Is there a date stamping mark that appear on every coin? Other than the blockchain transaction history would there be any other  significant marking on the coin itself??? Rather than coins i would rather collect historically significant addresses
2298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a Hidden Secret Code in bitcoin protocol??? on: December 03, 2014, 12:25:34 PM
Anyway most of you might say the codes are at github. But question is have we really audited and understand every single line?Huh
Plenty of people have modified the code and compiled their own custom versions of the client. I am sure that most of the bigger pools use their own custom nodes, as would payment processors, exchanges and sites like blockchain.info. I doubt something like this can be hidden for this long.

If I recall correctly empty gox used their own custom wallet.

I saw the secret code in the Open source, it pop's up with the message ---> I am Satoshi, your BTCfather  Grin Grin Grin

You cannot hide secret codes in the protocol, it's Open source, for EVERYONE to see and OnkelPaul already explained it best.

The democracy wins, when the mayority decide to use whatever version of the protocol.

Heartbleed demonstrates that this line of thinking i.e. it's open source somebody would notice is not always in line with what actually happens.

However, with so many building their own custom wallets somebody would have noticed any shenanigans by now.

2299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is There Any Chance? on: December 03, 2014, 12:09:25 PM
Unless that account holds significant amount of bitcoin like probably few hundred thousands, i believe technologically people can still find a way to recover the private key. Whether they invest in super hardware or by other means, it will just take considerably long time to do that. But first the question is.... is the reward worth all the trouble???
2300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When your competition takes notice.... on: December 03, 2014, 11:58:15 AM
Obviously it shows that they do see it as a threat whether it translate to less earning or up to the extent of survival. But seriously is there really such a thing as a level playing field. If there is there won't be large corporations that monopolize certain field. Especially in our today's competitive business world.
