2301  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best bitcoin mining rig for $1000? on: February 08, 2016, 11:06:05 AM
Is it possible to undervolt S7. If so, then it might still be usable after the halving in June-July 2016.

Not sure to what degree this has been tried yet as at the moment you are better off to run flat out? Approach will depend on which model of S7 you have.

162 Chip systems Batches 1,2,3,4,5,7 are a pure string design and you will just need to reduce the supply voltage to the Miner.

135 Chip systems batches 6,8,9,10 are a string design but powered by a Buck Converter, controlled by a PIC microcontroller and a Digital Pot. Although this has been discussed noone has yet fully understood or presented modifications to the Microcontroller code to allow the Core Voltage to be adjusted. I am certain this will be possible, but do not have an S7 to play with so cannot contribute. However if at some point 135 Chip S7 become affordable on the second had market I will almost certainly by one to play with.  Smiley

Rich

That is the hard part about S7's to is all the different designs.   Even the different frequencies and chip amounts it's hard to say what it will do in general as it's more individualized on which batch.

Look at the chart

That is a lot of variance.
2302  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: February 08, 2016, 05:29:28 AM
trade bitcoin and altcoin is the best earn bitcoin option.

yeah, but it can be also the easiest way to spend it for nothing... definitely not the safest way to earn, especially for newbies

best for me to earn bitcoin is from trading bitcoin to altcoin.

Same for me - but definitely not for every one =)

I like BTC myself. It just is in the spotlight, LTC is some.  I am a miner so I judge a lot based off of mining.   Bitcoin...TONS of money multiple companies making new chips.  It is a big big operation.

LTC we saw a company SFards decide to do at least 2 batches and not sell to general public. They kept the first batch and mined internally (possibly 2nd batch to).  It scares me when some company can make a chip and mine internally and no new miners make it to public.

And to many are pump/dump.  So many altcoins seems like a name-change and picture change. It's a risky buisnes.
2303  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Issues with newbie on: February 08, 2016, 05:18:43 AM
Yes you're right there was something wrong with the Ethernet cable once I changed it the scoring hash rate came back to 1100 gh/s
Thanks for your help.

One question more:
Is it better to continue with slush pool or go to kano.is
And what is the difference between them

I am partial to Kano.is mainly because he was a major developer of the mining code cgminer.

I wrote a long write up on why I think his pool it the best choice.

Since I started the write up he went from good to better.

But like any pool your connection to the pool is important.

If your connection  to both pools is equal I believe Kano.is is the best choice for you.

this is my writeup as to why you and for that matter anyone with a good connection should use kano.is

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1338693.0

It is a lot better pool than bitcoincz I would say without a doubt.  I had a stupid question about his pool, and he took time to help me.   Not to many pool owners take time to personally anwser a question.    And if you use it sign up for a account, it's more accurate on hashing rate then just using BTC addres that was part of my stupid question .... the anwser was sign up for a account and you get great stat's.

But try it or another pool.  As it appears pool is issue most likely as that PSU can easily run an S5.  Only thing else I would ask is do you have more then just the S5 plugged into that PSU?
2304  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: February 08, 2016, 05:12:18 AM
anybody using the antminer PSU for the S7?

What is your bitmaintech account so I can give you coupn

when do the coupons expire?

Mine expire March 2nd.

This probably means we may not see the price lower on S7's until after that date.

They are pretty small coupons thought in scheme of things.   I predict they sell batch 10 for a week or so after holiday's, maybe 2 weeks.  Then a possible price change.  If it was a 100 or 200 dollar coupon I would guess more on waiting.   But for around 20 dollars don't see it as a big loss for them.

Congratulations to Nimrod Lehavi and Simplex team Smiley

http://www.coindesk.com/israeli-bitcoin-startup-raises-7m-in-series-a-round/

Buying Bitcoins will become much easier. Awesome company.

Any news on the sp-50?
100% dead.  Ain't never coming.  Spondoolies and Guy Corem to get sued by creditors soon.

I really would like to know out of curosity on SP50.  If they are able to do some changing and get a chip that is closer to Bitfury's reported chip.  Or if they really will not release and consider sunk cost.

Only way I see them winning is if they can drastically beat Bitfury on chip price.  And that no one knows, or at least no one without a NDA.  For what it's worth I was hoping they would do consumer ones like SP20 again instead of SP50.  Doubt that changes but seems they would want to do something with the chips they I would guess put a decent amount into R/D.  And I guess we really don't know that either as no demo.

So many good questions, but don't think we will get anwser.  Although eventually we should it is interesting how SP has to release info compared to most privately owned firms that are tight lip'ed.

Bitwisdom Starting the week:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    144,116,447,847
Estimated Next Difficulty:    174,664,592,904 (+21.20%)
Adjust time:    After 1907 Blocks, About 12.3 days
Hashrate(?):    1,156,850,727 GH/s

Price around 376.  Hopefully price does a little jump during this difficulty that would be nice.

It  is pretty obvious that some very big farms are building up here.  I still find that bitmaintech is holding on to more then 24,000 coins

https://blockchain.info/address/1KwA4fS4uVuCNjCtMivE7m5ATbv93UZg8V

https://blockchain.info/address/1AgtvfXJSHnxS2xKvprTYxfViWBkiMgdf1

between the addresses above.

Interesting on them holding.  I like that much better then trading all of them in.  That is my fear is these new operations need to pay off cost's and dump every single bit into fiat.

It would keep price down if it is being sold in massive quantity.  I hope they all hold a decent amount though vs trading for fiat on all.

One thing I also wonder is antpool keeps tx fees.  Anyone have an idea what address they go to or how much they have made through just holding tx fees?
2307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] How to rank up your account without spamming. on: February 07, 2016, 10:16:54 PM
Unfortunately, it is a sad truth that there are a lot of users of this forum out there who shit-post and write one line replies or make a reply that has nothing to do with the conversation. This post is for those who want to make money from sig campaigns and have people not  be annoyed with you. If you post a sick tutorial or have something brilliant to say, you may even get tipped in addition to your campaign revenue.

1) Read enough of t hread before commenting. Many people will quickly glance through a thread and write a reply that has little contribution to with the topic on hand. If you get no replies, your post is probably meaningless.

2) Be controversial. Say you opinion and speak your mind about the topic at hand. This will result in possibly heated debates that can get you really enticed in the conversation. You may even forget you're being paid to post on this forum.

3) Write write write. As a general rule of thumb, new threads should be a few paragraphs long and replies should have at least four sentences. Short replies posted just to be paid is spamming.

There are my suggestions.  I followed these rules and haven't been banned for spamming or removed from my campaign. If you're one of those people who don't give a shit, you may end up banned.

1) I suggest more then a quick glance.  I read this thread before posting.  I you skim it... your kinda looking to spam in my eyes. It creates lot's of confusion or other things if you skimmed (unless were talking huge amount of pages, say some miners with 100+ pages it is impossible to know all of it).

2) This forum is a place to learn, teach, and make business deals.  If your goal is to be controversial.... your looking for a fight. It sounds like a lot of the off topic crap posts. One could say your looking to spam a battle back and forth about something.

3) It is only one I agree with.  One liners and one sentence posts are crap for most part.  If you have a question or problem explain it with details.  There are some a single sentence might do,but most wont.

So 1/2 I'm not a huge fan seem like ways to get posts and possible spam.  3. Is better and a little bit more common sense.
2308  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21 cents per kw, Any way to mine? on: February 07, 2016, 10:06:54 PM
Right now i would not by any miner. Just wait for the next generation of miners.
The current batch is way overpriced and you will make a big loss on it.

It all depends on electricity price I would say.  Electricity price can make or break you.  I'm doing some moving around with miners doe to this.  But this 21 cent thread ... 21 cent day's are gone with current products.

So there are still people out there that are able to mine, just takes lower cotst.  And hopefully a little more value on btc would be nice for miners.

Well even if you got free electricity, remember you have to buy the PSU too.
Which makes every miner today unprofitable.

Not true PSU's are actually pretty good assuming you don't buy crap.   I have multiple PSU's that I have used multiple generations of miners.  When I sell miners I keep the PSU's so I have mine paid off for most part, I will buy one if needed.

But PSU's you could even sell after to.   It will not be the difference between ROI and not ROI I don't think on most miners.
2309  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Anyone Profitted From an Antrouter R1? on: February 07, 2016, 10:04:48 PM
Believe it or not...  I did ROI on a R1.   I used as a U3 controller.  Eventually I decided to sell U3's and just use only compacs as lotto miners.

The U3's I did not make a profit on. But I got to play with them and got most of my money back... so great on that.  The R1 they did not have a batch 2 up (no one knew of it) so I actually made like 20 bucks (minus ebay fees) over what I paid.

The early R1 have been a good investment as unlike other miners the price has gone up. batch 1 were $29. Batch 2 is now on sale at $39 but Bitnmain have announced that after the Holiday the price will be $49.  Smiley

Rich

That is crazy for 1 chip in R1.   I thought it was a better U3 controller with Crazy Guy's mod then lotto machine.  I used it for the controller was main thing.

What they need to do is come out with U4 and hook up to R1.  Then they would have better chance of sales I think.
2310  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS 3x Avalon 4.1's - Great set on: February 07, 2016, 09:47:00 PM
This set is still up for offers!  Also have it on ebay if anyone want's to pay with paypal.  And if you have a good offer and want to do it here on board, I'm willing to sell here and cancel auction.

With weight of 3 of these most likely US buyer will make most sense.

Still best signature campaign around.
2313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: February 07, 2016, 07:26:35 PM
i use blockchain too but i guess i should move my coins

Why you move your coins insteade on blockchain ? i think blockchain is good for stored your bitcoin, but don't stored to many bitcoins, blockchain is good for stored and received your coins from service or smth.

Just make sure you treat it as a hot wallet.  It is very important on this.  Don't use it as your long term hold, like cold wallet should be.

Just make sure to also use 2 factor.  There are multiple options I may seem crazy but Yubikey's really are great on it.  If not that use one of other options.

YES i`m sure about the ZEROS its 0.0066 the Electricity Rate here in Kuwait Smiley

Just to check can you please give your electrical rate in fils per kWh.

Update - I see it really is that price. I'm amazed.

its 2 fils/kwh

You have a great price that is for sure.  I have not heard of many miners in Kuwait, and love to learn more about different countries.

How stable is your power grid with a price that low? Also how is security is it safe to run a decent operation.

And best of luck with your operation.
2316  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What mining hardware should I use? on: February 07, 2016, 07:12:18 PM
Sorry for intruding in Your thread, but as I see that here are some people that knows this stuff, I wanted to ask:
What is currently most efficient ASIC chip for BTC mining? Or, who makes the most efficient mining hardware at the moment?

Most current in production you can get on BTC is S7's and Avalon 6's.  There are some like bitfury that have shown proof of concept.... if they are on shelves in a data center no one really knows.

But those 2 are the best you can get currently that are sold to home/hobby we know that much.

2318  Economy / Computer hardware / Looks to be SOLD - WTS - Two Avalon 6's + RPI kit on: February 07, 2016, 07:04:51 PM
Selling at a great price.   I currently have them up on ebay.  You can see them hashing below.  You will notice it is up for almost a month in this screenshot.  Also very important these have never been overclocked.

EBay: Sold!

Realize many like protection so have it on ebay so you get buyer protection.  I am also willing to pull auction if someone want's to deal via BTC on forum.

Have a little wiggle room on Price if you want to send offer.  But it's already 700 vs the 900 current price.  So 400 dollar savings!
2319  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 07, 2016, 06:57:25 PM
That's the answer i got from Bitmain after long email exchange with them:

Quote
HI

Sorry ,but all the U3 have out of warranty  .

If the miner still canto work well after the troubleshooting step provide to you .

That means the miner is dead .

Thank you (not) Bitmain....

I think the problem is they never solved the Zombie problem with U3's.  It seems in R1's they did good without zombie as far as 1 chip in router.  So I'm thinking it was not the greatest design, and I'm not sure they will mess with U series or not in future.  Compare that to a big miner... i'm guessing they are more interested in the bigger one with more profit.

As far as zombie, driver issues, not knowing command issues.   I still sugggest get a R1 and load it with crazy guy's custom firmware.  It' a amazing solution for a lot of the U3 problems.
2320  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS - Bitmain S5 + (plus) 7.7 T miner. Great miner and works great. on: February 07, 2016, 06:06:57 PM
Sold.  Sorry to anyone that had offers when it sold.   Will leave open for a little bit for transparency ( I think it looks bad when it's locked right away).  But sold and will be locking soon.
