2301  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: (WTS) Bitmain Antminer S4-B2 on: December 11, 2014, 06:34:34 AM

The price will be lowered to 800 or less by bitmain or another coupon issued.

As far as the coupon guy goes.  What happens after the 15th when  the coupons are no longer valid?  Then what?

That sounds about right when next year comes around and the 16nm stuff hits

Even if you are reselling the units you can never get your full money back.
2303  Economy / Economics / Re: How the US Marshal Bitcoin Auction Affects the Market (Buttercoin Weekly) on: December 08, 2014, 11:21:18 PM
Just today those seized bitcoins should have been released into the wild, based on the US Marshalls saying December 8th is the day assets are paid out
2304  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S5 Speculation on: December 08, 2014, 08:49:48 PM
It should be interesting to see what they do this year. We all need more hashing power at a lower wattage and for a lower price, but I don't think we'll see that anytime soon. The price of power keeps going up and difficulty is still too high, even with it leveling out a bit.  Bitmain is pretty awesome though Cheesy

Well some 16nm chips would be nice for the power consumption if they can half the current ghs/w to .3.

We just have to see if the companies will deliver that kind of stuff...

2306  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Anyone used of hear of minerslab.com? on: December 08, 2014, 09:08:24 AM
I just wanted to punch holes in their FAQs

Quote
Q. Do you accept PayPal or Credit Cards?
A. No. These methods were available earlier, unfortunatly we don’t accept PayPal or Credit Cards anymore due to frequently occurring fraud practices.

But they haven't physically sold any products yet.

Quote
Q. Can I pay cash in your office?
A. Due to security policies and our confidentiality policy we cannot accept this method of payment.

A company that doesn't want to take your money?

Quote
Q. Can I visit your office, data center or manufacturing facilities?
A. Earlier visits were possible by preliminary coordination for some of our wholesale customers. However after several cases of industrial espionage we decided to prohibit personal visits.

So they don't keep confidential data locked up from visitors?

Q. Can you mark my order as “gift” at shipping or lower the price in documents, enclosed with the miner?
A. No, we cannot send the shipment as “gift”. But we can mark it as “spare parts” and lower the price or the order.

Jokes on you, it was spare parts.
2307  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin is collapsing! Sell your ASICs NOW while you still can! on: December 08, 2014, 05:57:34 AM
As long as there is a hash rate....
2308  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: (WTS) Bitmain Antminer S4-B2 on: December 08, 2014, 01:39:59 AM
I might be interested if you can do for around that price of $960. Other then that good luck.
2309  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining is Gambling? on: December 05, 2014, 06:14:16 AM
Having less difficulty prolongs the profits for you.

But as the gambling idea goes it is pool mining vs solo mining.
Pool mining- with a large enough pool there is a good enough chance to have constant ROI
Solo mining- Solo luck of the draw vs the rest of the network.
2310  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dogecoin creator states Bitcoin can be taken down by a raid on mining farms on: December 04, 2014, 07:28:52 AM
This was mentioned in the context of a governement trying to shut down Bitcoin. What if a government were able to simultaneous launch a mining farm raid and a 51% attack? I think it would cost them a fortune with little result.

The bitcoin network is also more powerful than the top 500 supercomputers, or so people claim.
2311  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: KnC's new Solar chip to obsolete all current ASICs - an end to mining diversity? on: December 01, 2014, 05:46:40 AM
Just my opinion, either you expect too much from the first batch from a company, i.e. bitmain, or you are falling for advertising rather than a final shipped product, i.e. butterfly labs

2313  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / So what do the big hashers do with their electricity bill? on: November 20, 2014, 03:52:04 PM
Just curious as I had just gotten into hobby mining.
What do you guys do with your electric bill?
Do you invest money and accumulate the coin rather than sell?
Or do you guys use bitcoin to cover you bill?
