Please include him in the poll.

2302  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Old backups of wallet on: March 11, 2013, 06:53:46 AM
On the point you change you paraphrase an new 100 addresses are created. So all new addresses from this point in time are save.

So, just to clarify: if I change my passphrase now, and make a backup, all the previous backups with the old passphrase are invalidated?

No, you wallet always has the next 100 Keys (Addresses) you use pre generated. So all Addresses you used until that point are still valid. When you change your passphrase a new set of addresses (for future use) is generated. So only new addresses are not the same.
2303  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: March 10, 2013, 05:43:34 PM
I still see the huge shipping costs to Europe as biggest obstacle for the success.

This shipping cost basically cut away ~50% of potential customers.

Even a temporary solution could give Bitcoinstore a huge push.
2304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's up with this block 1000 or so transactions that send only one satoshi on: March 10, 2013, 03:42:17 PM
They all came from the same address, and all where 1 Satoshi outputs that this address received before.

Also all where send to addresses never seen before, so where probably send by the sender to himself.

Strange indeed.
2305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Old backups of wallet on: March 10, 2013, 12:07:03 PM
If anyone would get the hands on one of this backups and manages to crack it. He would have full access to all addresses you used at this point + the next 100 you used.

On the point you change you passphrase an new 100 addresses are created. So all new addresses from this point in time are save.

Well, that shop is a win/win for us. You get many products cheaper than anywhere else.

But I wouldn't buy anything I don't need anyway.

But 800k is a Target that they will never reach. It's just to much for our little economy.

Also if you don't live in the USA shipping costs make it actually more expensive for many products to order them there.

I looked into some hardware for me, but the shipping costs make it more expensive than to order it locally.

Example: Some PC systems price 51.445 BTC [$2,426.12] (very good deal!) additional shipping costs: 1.  International Priority 12.393 BTC [$584.41]  2. International First 24.924 BTC [$1,175.38]

So if I order via International First I have to pay additional 50% what makes it a very bad deal.

I really hope that projects succeeds and will be able to offer better service for Europe soon. But the current shipping costs make it a no go for me.  Cry

More information would be nice.
2308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL]Are SatoshiDice transactions hurting or helping Bitcoin? on: March 10, 2013, 12:04:36 AM
Why not create a proper poll?  Have options that are positive vs negative and neutral only.

"Satoshi Dice is great, it is stress testing bitcoin"

Basically this. We would have run into issues sooner or later.

THX to SD we see them now and not when a notable amount of companies accept bitcoin.

So we can work on this while there is still time.
2309  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore launching with 0% margin on: March 09, 2013, 10:08:22 PM
Hmm,

this has probably been asked before.

The shipping cost to Europe nearly eat up all savings compared to ordering something locally.

Do you have planned to add cheaper/local support for Europe if you expand further?
2310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is your password at blockchain.info the same thing as your private key? on: March 09, 2013, 09:38:56 PM
No, the password is just that. The password to access your account.

You sign each transaction with the private key from the address you send from. You can have as many addresses as you want in your account.

2312  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 09, 2013, 04:44:33 PM
Isnt it possible to calculate the hashrate from last week out of the dividends paid? I mean the loans are paid back with first dividend so the second dividend should be the complete mining income. We know how many shares are sold or even could see the paid bitcoins in blockchain.info. So taking that number of bitcoins, calculate the time back to the first dividend should it make possible to find out the average hashingrate that was online between first and second dividend payment. This way maybe we can see if the hashrate is higher than ozcoin 3 times bitfountain + btcguild asicminer or not.

Why so complicated.

friedcat could really just edit the OP once in a week with "Currently online xTh/s".

This isn't really very much to ask.
2313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easiest way of gaining bitcoins? on: March 09, 2013, 04:39:32 PM
Decrease numbers in you bank account to increase numbers in you Bitcoin wallet is certainly the easiest way.

;_; BUT I USE SMILIES AND LOLS! You haven't ignored me have you?

2. Trolls and kindergarden kids that usually always post the same stuff consisting only of LOLs and Smilies again and again.

Yes, it's you.  Wink
2316  Other / Meta / Re: Is every thread here hijacked, or merely 99%? on: March 09, 2013, 11:38:03 AM
Well,

like proposed before. We have a ignore function for that.

But the highlighting of the ignore button is not a very good indicator for which people to ignore.
There are two types of people with an highlighted ignore button:

1. The guys with controversial opinions and huge knowledge about Bitcoin --> don't ignore

2. Trolls and kindergarden kids that usually always post the same stuff consisting only of LOLs and Smilies again and again. --> Ignore if you want a smoother reading experience.

You will get the hang of it in time.

Disclaimer: I have only one person on my Ignore list. Not because he pisses me off, just because he has never posted anything that was it worth reading and just wastes my time.

ASIC update: first units will be deployed during mid April, software will need some refinement, probably a couple of weeks, and then mass deployment will be done.

Great news!  Any plans to halt new fpga purchases and use all new funds for asics since we are only a month out?

Yes, that would not be such a bad idea. I still see active accounts increasing on a daily basis.

Probably most new people joining don't get the point that they also could invest in ASICs so maybe it could be time to thread all deposits as ASIC deposits.

Another point:

Pyraming, if you plan to go solo, what will be your policy on transaction space?

As you might have seen we have hit the 250kb softlimit.

Would you stick with it? Increase it?

How much space would you allow for free transactions?

Example: 500kb max. 200kb free high priority transactions rest paid transactions.

Also if you really want to go solo, keep in mind that a fast connection is required and Bitcoind should have as much connections as possible. Otherwise you will probably end up producing a lot of orphan blocks.

Are there nodes trying to disrupt Bitcoin network? Or are big miners/pools using new special rules to choose allowed transactions?

Yes:

but I don't think so many people are applying this that it really has a affect.
2319  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: March 08, 2013, 10:32:04 PM
