2301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Signs of a better year for btc investors on: January 11, 2023, 06:31:25 PM
Although too early to say for this year but there seem to be signs that we are taking off for a crypto bullrun, there are several announcements from altcoins and institutions like Cathy Woods adding more of her coinbase holdings. CZ is most bullish this year since he plans to hire more people in Binance. Hongkong news open up and changed its stance on crypto also.

On this market, the most patient and the wisest becomes the most profitable and as for you OP. If you've got plan of buying bitcoin and you're seeing those things that you're no longer using. You've got the plan to sell them, do it and don't regret of selling them and using the money for buying bitcoin.

It's because many beginners before have regreted that they've bought bitcoin. But if you have the idea on where the market is going and you're also a patient guy, wait until the halving ends next year and you'll see how the market will change mostly positively by that time.

It's what they say. It's during bear market and crisis that winners and millionaires are made. The patient guys who keep thier coins are the ones who'll get success.
2302  Economy / Economics / Re: What was your lowest point financially? How did you go through it ? on: January 11, 2023, 05:55:14 PM
Being single is easy in times of financial difficulties but if you have a family with a kid, bills, and a mortgage to pay it's the lowest point where you are almost going to beg for a job with a higher rate. Family men are the most vulnerable, they might commit crimes so they could put food on thier table.

I was single at that time and I live in a city where no one else to rely on, I end up finding my old schoolmates and asking if I could hang around their shop. Sold my motorbike just so I'll have some funds for my meals.

Katrina Bookman was playing the slots at the Resorts World Casino in Jamaica, Queens when she secured what would have been the largest slot machine jackpot in US history - $42,949,672 (£35.4m). She took a selfie with the machine to mark the moment, and later said her whole body went 'numb' when she saw the life-changing figure. Bookman was told to come back the next day to discuss her winnings, but when she asked an employee what she'd be walking away with, he responded: "You didn't win nothing." The New York State Gaming Commission said Bookman’s machine had malfunctioned, and that she'd actually won just $2.25 (£1.86).The machine had a disclaimer stating 'malfunctions void all pays and plays', and as a result the commission said that they were required by law to give Bookman only what she'd actually won.

Some Casinos are just plain fraudulent. So this woman visited a casino, play slot and won $43million. She took a selfie with the amount displayed on the machine. The casino saw it and told her to return the next day so they could talk about the winnings. Next day she returned. Story changed. She was told the machine had malfunctioned and therefore it was what was responsible for the winnings. They went ahead to offer her a complimentary steak dinner. I got so livid reading this story.

Isn't this just the stupidest reason not to give her her winnings?
Couldn't they have known that their so-called machine was faulty before letting gamblers use it?
How could they do this to her?
It is nothing but fraudulent. Because her winning money was big which the casino might not have the ability to pay or they thought they would be able to easily avoid the situation. In normal casinos, if a machine is defective, it is not kept there at all. But when the woman won that big money, the casino machine malfunctioned. The woman should have resorted to the law and if it was proved that such fraud was committed by the casino owner they should have been fined heavily so that they would not have the courage to conduct such fraudulent business.

She couldn't prove it anymore. Remember that her body was numbed. Could it be that a casino staff may her body numb and she got unconscious, it's possible.  The picture she took probably got deleted also.

Maybe she needs to get into the phone to recover the image that will prove that she won, I guess she could resort to suing the casino. Including this assault of getting her numb which needs investigation.

Just because he is a Pastor doesn't mean his sympathizers will not suspect something is weird about it. I wonder what he did to the money that he had to do it again. Justifying it might help his sympathizers understand.

I'm not from Nigeria but this is a developing country with so many resources afaik, this country even has oil and gas of their own. But then you know the number and the kind of crimes reflect how the economic status of the country.
2305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer and Crypto Guru Gambles Away Investor Funds on: January 11, 2023, 02:02:20 PM
I'm not aware of him though. I would assume he is related to CluCoin project which investors' funds were gambled away. In that case, the investors might take legal action for this matter.

Yep. it's based enough to get addicted but it's usually the case when you chase loss, you can never win enough to cover, and then more loss comes. And it's worse when you are put in prison for spending someone else money.

2306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Starting to Think The Bottom May Be Close? on: January 11, 2023, 05:48:33 AM
I didn't think that the lowest bitcoin price was $16k because the bitcoin price could touch below $16k at any time. The current price is not impossible to fall even deeper, but the question is, have you bought bitcoin at every lower price?

But indeed, the situation in this new year is getting better than last year because we can see a slight increase in the price of bitcoin. But that does not mean we will continue to see the price of bitcoin increase because any increase will surely face a correction for a while. You can still collect more bitcoins because the price has not yet reached $20k and the current price is still worth buying for you and all of us.

Back in June indicators like RSI signaled market had dipped to its lowest. Apparently, it didn't rise up after a few weeks, and then by November it goes to $15K. It could be the bottom already yet the market is very unpredictable. The FED they said will pivot which was also anticipated to happen, I guess that will be the moment the financial guys are saying.

If it goes below $15K in a few weeks, then we are really going to be seeing Bitcoin bottom on the monthly chart which had not yet happened in the history of BTC.
2307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 11, 2023, 04:25:47 AM
I still haven’t tried this out yet to see how it could work, but I do like all the discussion surrounding it. Personally, I don’t see why using AI would be any different than betting with a newsletter or following someone else’s picks. Who knows, maybe AI would be better. Without trying it out it’s hard to say, but next time I’m messing with ChatGPT I’m definitely going to give it a little test.

Please do it. Maybe you will find a way to circumvent this restriction

but I personally can't imagine how to do it. I think for sports betting you need the latest information about many things that can contribute to the outcome, and if the AI doesn't have access to this information, it can't make the prediction.

(In the picture is the response of ChatGPT to a question about current events).

Practically what was said to me too. It also could process data before Sept 2021, so it can't say something about the fights after this date but with only few details.

Maybe by the next updated version is possible that the AI will compare teams and the athlete's competence for the advantages and disadvantages to be reviewed and then the AI can provide the possible outcomes of the game.
2308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 11, 2023, 04:00:06 AM

How did her body got numbed?

Does seem like she inhaled something or someone just injected her with a substance and then when she wakes up all excitement is gone. Life is indeed unfair for this woman. $43M is not something that a casino is willing to give. It's the worse that could happen to someone who almost got everything in this world and then in just a blink lost it all.

She doesn't have a companion at that moment who can take care of what she won too.
2309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin as a new part of the human way of life" on: January 11, 2023, 02:07:12 AM
Just one story:

I wanna share a story of mine after meeting up with someone who wants to buy BTC back in 2017, after the transaction I tried roaming around the mall and saw a music instrument store. Looking from the outside reflecting on the glass the images behind are two guys who I think I have seen 10 minutes before the transaction happened. Pretending to not notice them I just walk outside past some baker's store and I still glance a bit at them watching me. The next thing I do is run and they also run following me.

Can this kind of story be interesting in your book?
2310  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: January 10, 2023, 01:20:32 PM
The AI will leave a lot of people jobless.

There will still be people remaining around to control and monitor the AIs though.

Although many will monitor this AI, his statement will still be true since a lot of writers even journalists may not be able to compete with the newbies who'll just use the AI. It can do almost everything. But maybe if the gptzero.me works, we shall see how to counter AI.  A bit more sophisticated and advanced than gptzero is needed.

Maybe a bot that will also grab the answers of AI, and compare it to the new bot that will check the plagiarism to chatGPT.
2311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we really make a living in sports betting? on: January 10, 2023, 12:12:37 PM
You have to be very good at it so that you can accurately predict the likelihood of a match outcome. It is not easy to have this skill.
Generally, successful bettors have a deep understanding of the sport they bet on combined with a disciplined approach to managing their money and their bets.

What I noticed about sports pickers is that they find exploit any discrepancies in the odds being offered by bookmakers. Making them really good at what they do and a bit of luck of course. Hope someone wilk share methods of doing so.
2312  Economy / Gambling / Re: New casino BTC game development on: January 10, 2023, 11:15:49 AM
I guess @OP wants to sell his site with 18 gambling games.
@OP needs to explain in more detail what he means so we don't misunderstand what he wants.
It's a website that might be ready to launch, but first, the new casino owner needs to modify a few things in the script.
Maybe @OP opens a bid price of 0.01 BTC and will sell it at the highest price from the bidder.
I hope that @ OP can come back and explain it in more detail.

It's how I understood it also. The increment is 0.01 BTC. Seem cheap and if I were a PHP developer, I would try this one as I would just be needing a few bucks for hosting to keep it going. I would need to thoroughly check the script of the backdoors though.

He does need to come back and explain if this is even a script he develops himself. He wants to auction this casino script which means this thread is in the wrong part of the forum. It must be in the Auction forum
2313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 10, 2023, 05:49:39 AM
That is actually a very good question.
I would personally not let an Artificial intelligence to pick up teams for me, but I would not mind to use AI as a tool to evaluate the statistics of teams in the past and identify patterns.

For example, There are occasions one wants to participate in an specific sport betting but one could not feel confident enough about one's analysis, that is where AI could help by providing a summary of data which could be used to take a final decision on where to place a bet. That is my personal opinion.
That's what we have to do by using AI because after all, we have to have our own analysis and not depend on AI.
That is to hone our ability to analyze every match and improve our abilities later.
If we can have better abilities, it will help us to be able to analyze and not depend on anything.
Maybe using AI can shorten our time in analyzing but we still have to check the results obtained from the AI.

I was also experimenting with the AI there and reading a lot of people's experiences on what they do on chatGPT. I'm sure it can do a lot of wonders since the time it was released. Many experts are saying this could kill google. But I'm not sure if it's going to analyze matches.

Curious to see, I tried if it can analyze Islam vs Volkanovski fight. it replied.
I tried the future matches and the past matches as to what the AI could say and it says the same thing also.

Quote
I'm sorry, but I'm not able to browse the internet or access current information about upcoming matches. My knowledge is based on information that was available to me before my knowledge cutoff in 2021, so I don't have any information about a potential match between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski. I recommend following a sports news source or checking with an organization that regulates mixed martial arts events for current information about the match.
2314  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom of the Bear Market...let's accumulate!! on: January 10, 2023, 05:05:24 AM

Regardless of whether it bottomed already or not, BTC price had gone from its ATH to its lowest with more than -60%. When your goal is to hold til the bull run, it's a good time to buy. DCAing will work as long as you plan for the long term.

Who is accumulating and how much are you hoping to add to your stash this year?

I'm hoping to at least hold my 0.025 and keep earning.  Grin
Luckily you got 0.6BTC now. Now only people with considerable good income can buy that amount out of their pocket.
2315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Businesses That Accept Bitcoin Attract New Customers and Sales on: January 09, 2023, 04:38:18 PM
2. Increase in the size of transactions because buyers who pay with cryptocurrency tend to spend more than other customers.
I don't know how this conclusion was reached, but i don't think it is correct. People mostly take BTC as an investment rather than a currency, so they would prefer to hold it for a long time than spend it, but whenever they decide to spend it, they don't do that on too many items or on expensive stuffs, maybe just a cup of coffee, because the BTC spent seems like money that can generate more money to them, so why would they want to spend too much of it on goods.

They will spend the BTC when there is a bull market. But of course, this is if the shop is known to the crypto community. Every country I think should have a directory of shops that accepts BTC. Or they better be adding a huge logo the one that says BITCOIN ACCEPTED.

There are merchants that use other platforms like Binance Pay and then eventually convert their coins to fiat after receiving them, can they be undecided?
2316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BlackRock CEO Says ‘Next Generation for Markets’ Is Tokenization on: January 09, 2023, 09:54:55 AM

The tokenization of securities will open up new investment opportunities for users who have not been able to participate in traditional markets. True it can bring more money into the market since there will be greater liquidity and accessibility of assets.

If they chose any existing smart contract projects in crypto, I guess this is the realization that crypto is here to stay. The laws around it and the demand for decentralization will be a bigger issue for the people because we already saw what happened to FTX.

2317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 09, 2023, 08:53:23 AM
Tank struggles to beat Hector IMO. It's quite unusual to see a Mexican who we always admire having the will of a warrior yet ready to quit the fight. Hector did good utilizing his reach and punch backs. He wasn't knocked out, he was hit but not really wobbling going to his corner. In my gut, it's rigged as it is. Anyway, I didn't bet and this is not after all the main menu since the real fight is Ryan vs Tank.

Yes, Hector gave Tank a run for his money. He gave a good fight. Credits to him even if he lost the fight. But Hector Garcia is not a Mexican. He is from Dominican Republic. He was an Olympian representing Dominican Republic.

I don't think it was rigged. Although Hector was wise enough to use his reach advantage early in the rounds, he was quite open for Tank's hard punches. It didn't look good. It was just a matter of time before Tank would land a punch that would really hurt him so much. Tank could actually knock you out not just in early rounds but also in later rounds.

I thought he is Mexican as Ryan always wants to associate with.

Hector Garcia asked his team to stop the bout in 9th round. So they know if he quits Garcia will lose, afaik it's going to be called disqualification but of course, they will just say stoppage. This damages Hector's reputation and will more than likely find it difficult to secure future fights, that's the risk he took for the stoppage.
2318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran And Bitcoin Adoption on: January 09, 2023, 08:26:02 AM
Bitcoin adoption in Iran can benefit their government than their citizens. Iran can avoid international sanctions and have income for their nuclear power, weapon development and trial programs.

Their announcement does not mean anything because they can accept Bitcoin silently.

Their citizens can use Bitcoin without acceptance from government and announcement of adoption or legal tender in future.

You don't need government allowance to use bitcoin.

The adoption in the country is partly driven by the pursuit to bypass sanctions and inflation. Although thier country has changed its stance in banning crypto since 2018, there is still no clarity of laws about BTC.

Governments do not openly say BTC is free to be used by its citizen but there are growing merchants and users in the country afaik. There are also exchanges operating in the country but despite all these, using BTC will still be risky. You do need the government's clarity of their laws.
2319  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Scalping, my best trading strategy on: January 08, 2023, 05:21:03 PM
To be honest, I do not see anything positive or extremely beneficial in this strategy. Somehow I even tried to work, but nothing happened. In addition, not all companies even seem to allow trading in this way.

There is a benefit but this is a strategy used by pro traders. I don't know why OP is telling people that this strategy is best for those who don't understand TA. LOL that's the worse advice one can take but perhaps because if a trader doesn't understand the risk, I guess the less aware of the risk the more he can just keep trading in a shorter time frame with small price movements.

Your risk tolerance and your goal will probably make you decide whether scalping is good for you. There are bots for this strategy, I'm not aware which one is good but using bot for scalping I think will not be a get-rich-quick but maybe it will work as what I have heard, they are making money.
2320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 08, 2023, 03:40:31 PM

As you wished. The fight ended with another stoppage in favor of Tank. I don't even know if it was the real strategy of Hector if he was given the right time to train which is 2 to 3 months. He was supposed to give be more active in the early rounds and bully the slow starter Tank with his jabs. Maybe Hector was saving energy in order to survive in the late rounds which is unusual because he is not a KO artist and is used to fighting in long rounds.

You can't bully a guy who can knock you out anytime, just like what happen to Romero he tries to bully Tank and ended up getting knocked out with one punch that's the scenario that Hector doesn't want that to happen, but unfortunately, it happens late in the 8th round because he receives big punches when he is attacking Tank.

Quote
Anyways, we will see if the Tank will really face Kingry. It will be the battle of the top cherry-pickers in boxing. Although Kingry is not yet a world champion so maybe it's an excuse to fight nobodies and has-beens. Kingry canceling his tune-up bout makes him nearly a year inactive if he faces Tank in April or onwards. Honestly, I do not see Kingry winning against Tank.
After this fight all eyes are now on these two fighters I'm sure there will be a lot of trash-talking between the two because of the bad blooth between the two, we all just hope that Ryan is in good health in my mind and body and avoid canceling the fight, between the two its Ryan who always back up or cancel a fight, Tank is always on the go

Tank struggles to beat Hector IMO. It's quite unusual to see a Mexican who we always admire having the will of a warrior yet ready to quit the fight.
