23081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to remotely poweroff or fix a frozen computer on: September 26, 2017, 03:29:11 AM
I use teamviewer for remote access, is there anyway to unfreeze by forcing a powerdown on the computer?? My computer was just showing as offline but it still powered on but the computer was frozen/inaccessible.. Is there any creative ideas on how to power off a computer when frozen? My mobo is set to automatically power on after a power-loss.

Search for USB PC Watchdog and find a good one.

well, will it work if the pc is locked up?

well, if you took a minute and actually googled it then you would know.

I did google it.  A simple yes or no would have answered.  Nevermind, don't answer if you are going to be this rude.  Bye.

<3 yes, it looks like thats actually what its built for and its relatively cheap. I just feel like the wifi wall unit will work easier as my board is set to power-on automatically after power-loss

If you use the wifi plug you will want to keep power under 1000 watts
23082  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Wiring for 5 Avalon 741s on: September 26, 2017, 01:44:39 AM
I don't see the specs listed on CFM for the 741's but I would want at least 4" of duct size for each one as that is about how big they are so as not to cause a restriction maybe even 5"

I would think if all 5 are going into one duct it would need to be about a foot in diameter so as to not cause restriction.

I hope your cellar is sealed well and away from things. The miners are about as loud as a vacuum cleaner. I had one running in my office of a 3000 sq ft house and with the door closed you could hear it anywhere in the house.

These things are not really designed to be ran in a home. I moved mine out to my detached shop. It runs fine out there with no AC but it is a huge shop and one unit can't heat it up. A bunch of them in a small space will make it very hot in there.

We have a pond about 150' away from my shop that we fish in during the evenings. Sitting at the pond fishing when it is quiet I can hear the miner running 150' away.

please delete the bolded info   it is simply wrong

 a 4 inch  for 1 avalon 741 = restriction and over heating
 a 5 inch for 1 avalon  741 = restriction and over heating

I had a lot of avalon's the 4 the 6 the 721 the 741..

I have found  putting the entire unit inside a tunnel design  works better for heat  and sound

or a box  with adequate large ducts of ten inches  for 2 units.

Hey philip, thanks for getting this degenerate train back on track! Looks like the graph is getting over that huge blip, wonder if we'll get another surprise at the November mark?

Let me be the first to show ye of little faith how the miners are returning to the comforting fold of Bitcoin with my positive adjustment guess Wink
Edit: eh, abeandund appears to be stronger of faith

1.7 = buwaytress

I believe it will be like last jump, all the hash will come back to insure bitcoin difficulty continues upward while gaming the cash eda.  I assume hobby miners such as myself will be turning on more hash power with air conditioning season ending and non-summer rates enabled.  Some may even be considering turning off gpus and firing S7's back up.

It is why you picked +4.5

but the s-7  is at 47%   for power and 53% for profit at hash nest.

BTC is up to 3936

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

Bitcoin Difficulty:   1,103,400,932,964
Estimated Next Difficulty:   1,077,532,568,923 (-2.34%)
Adjust time:   After 895 Blocks, About 6.8 days

3 blocks: 32.7 minutes
6 blocks: 1.1 hours
Updated:   21:10 (1.5 minutes ago)

-2.34 % with  only 895 blocks left

gray line keeps dropping  so time is running out for this jump  we may do okay.

next jump will be a bigger gain or not.

I just received 3 741s from MinerWarez this afternoon. The ones I received are definitely used and have some dust in the fans and on the wires (but no bugs from what I can see). They were not in the sealed plastic bags like the ones I received from Canaan in the past and the boxes weren't taped up on the ends either (one was partially open when the FedEx driver handed it to me). I'm off to test them out and hopefully they all work. But I agree that they shouldn't be marketed as "new" on their website.

I wish they had not done this.

you are the third one to complain that this happened.

my replacement direct from china is on the truck  and should come in the next hour.

waited all day for it.

the one from minerwarez is due on tues day

I paid  that with paypal  and can easily  return it if it has an issue. still annoying and it looks like I need to set up a camera for unboxing todays and tomorrows gear.

Some update on my testing on the onda D1800 six card mb:

Finally made two blower style 1070 working on this board. Cannot make it work on first two so I plug in one in the first and another in the fourth slot. While it is wide enough between each other, the first one has very high temp between 70 and 80. While I can tolerate the temp, the fans of both are at around 90% most of time. I do not feel comfortable at all for this scenario.

My conclusion: this mb may be great for some low heat cards. Even for 1070 it is not the best idea to put 6 gpu on it.

yeah this is what i though lookin at pictures , its too s mall for six cards

It will run 6x 1070 blower style cards with zero issues  at 60%  tdp  = my best guess

that is only around 700 watts.  should not be an issue at all.

I know eth + sia dual at 90 %   tdp                                                    =           a no go     my next best guess.

that  would be 1000 watts

still waiting for the boards.

I will try

1080 ti water  60%  = 150 watts
1080 ti water  60%  = 150 watts
1070    water  60%  =   90 watts
1070    water  60%  =   90 watts
1080 ti  mini   60%  = 150 watts

this would be  630 + 70 = 700 watts
23088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu bubble well and truly bursting on: September 25, 2017, 07:57:03 PM
Some of us were making money on both GPU and ASIC mining a YEAR ago - long before the recent massive profitability bubble hit.
THAT bubble is almost over, but it wasn't a "burst" so much as a "slow decline" caused more by massive new miner influx than any other factor - and it's not over YET as profitability is STILL higher than a year ago.

My gpu's  have earned more then the power they cost for the last 13 months.

August of 2016  the gpus at home  were close to break even.

my asics have earned more then the power they cost since dec 2012  right after the first ½ ing .

I would say  gpu profits are back to just above levels
I would say gpu prices are a little higher then normal.

23089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction Failed on: September 25, 2017, 07:49:58 PM
Hi all, I made a transaction of a fraction of Ethereum from my Bitstamp wallet to my WaveLite wallet by selecting the Deposit address of the Ethereum currency. Bistamp made the payment, but after three days nothing came. Any idea?

happens all the time.

how much  is that fraction?

and what is the deposit address?

lastly  the transaction id?

I have had transactions take weeks.

23095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is $120 a day possible with the Bitmain Antminer D3 !? on: September 25, 2017, 02:36:10 AM
So the D3 is based on 16nm tech, correct?

I suspect that the D3 might be 28nm given it's relatively LOW efficiency compared to some of the competition.

I'm 100% certain that Bitmain prefers the CERTAINTY of "cash in hand, can turn it around into another batch of chips to sell MORE miners" as opposed to the longer time of return and MAJOR uncertainly of mining with the machines.

The people that got rich out of the California Gold Rush were mostly SUPPLIERS to the miners - Levi Strauss being the most famed....

Very, very, good point. Crypto could crash tomorrow most of us would be fucked and they'd be relatively fine lol

I have been doing mining since 2012.  I am fully paid off for gear and  ahead.  I did not achieve this status until this year.

I have about 20k in paid off gear

zero debt.
some cash.
some coins.

The big bull run in gpu mining did the trick for me this year.

well  not to say  anyone is lying about what they got from them..

but the photos shown  were not good enough to be sure  of much of anything..

I own  721'w and 741's  and  that photo could be that of a 721.

I wanted more shots but the guy did not bother showing them.

does not mean he lied  he could just be really freaking pissed off and said fuck this shit.  I am never posting here again.
