Examples of collateral I will accept include Dash, Ethereum, Wave and Ripple.
2322  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Amazon accepting Bitcoin - What can go wrong? on: December 03, 2017, 11:53:06 AM
I do not believe that any large corporation will accept bitcoin until either the lightning network is online, or there is a block size increase to reduce fees.
2323  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: December 03, 2017, 12:02:22 AM
Is this possible ?

Aliens could of planted magic stuff and watched it grow and here we are today getting watched by aliens..

Did we evolve on land sea or on rocks moss trees a pond a river ?..

Or did we evolve on this planet and the stuff made from this planet is the same as the next planet..
I.E did aliens take a bag of soil from their planet and drop it off on this planet seeding our world..

Also is another world the same as our world if in the same galaxy ..
Big bang so made of the same stuff?..

Then is aliens walking around us and we don't know ..
Then is all what we know not real and we live in the matrix..
Or are we a computer program ..

Did we die many many light years ago and this is all a program.. Grin
Floating in empty space a little chip with all of life programmed into the chip ..

These are all valid possibilities to the origin of life, the first is similar to the panspermia theory, where life is carried from planet to planet by asteroids, or possibly other life.

The second is the simulated universe hypothesis, whereby we are actually being simulated on a hyper-advanced computer.
2324  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: December 02, 2017, 11:24:56 PM
Let me answer this very simply, evolution is a proven fact, not a theory.

Your initial logic is flawed, we did not evolve from monkeys, homo sapiens and monkeys evolved from an early common ancestor. Whilst all life on earth evolved from the universally common ancestor abbreviated LUCA. It is deeply saddening to see that people remain so ignorant.
So what come before LUCA?  ..Who planted LUCA ?

So if you rewind a human what would it look like before we was human?..

Ape monkey like?..Why are we called a human and not an ape?..

Frog a toad both the same but different and 1 speaks frog and the other speaks toad Grin..

Ape human
Frog toad

Normally when frogs and toads share the same pond, their mating occurs at different times. However, as the photo shows, occasionally a late coming frog (the one with the white throat) may turn up on the toad dating scene. You may see them trying to mate each other but the union will be sterile.

Ape and a human can share the same jungle ..And sometimes they do the same as the frog and toad Cheesy..
And we have no babies Cheesy Cheesy..Oh you might get aids Cheesy..

If you want to be technical, modern humans are known as homo sapiens sapiens, around 100,000-1,000,000 years ago there were more than one variant of "human" walking the earth, hominids such as homo sapiens neanderthalensis walked alongside pre-modern man.

The earliest common ancestor was generated from proto-life molecules, such as the universal replicator and virion type particles. Mating did occur between Neanderthals and Sapiens, even between Sapiens and Homo erectus, this is known due to the presence of their DNA in the modern human gene pool.
Neanderthals and Sapiens are you saying they are 2 different specie type humans?..

aboriginie and a westerners same as Neanderthals and Sapiens both could mate with each other same as
aboriginie and westerner ..

My idea is a monkey or ape might of had incest and that changed the looks ..
What do you think seems you know all about EVOLUTION ..

Is my thinking wrong ?..Or possible i could be right and that's how some changes could of happened?..

Or incest AUTISTIC APE and the change come and the smartness  Wink Cheesy Cheesy..

So could i be right is it possible ?..

See if you say no it's not possible i will change my thinking Wink Cheesy Grin..

Monkeys and Apes cannot breed because of genetic differences, the differences in modern humans, e.g. differences in race, skin colour, muscle tone, intelligence, creativity etc, may be due in part to the percentages of sapiens, erectus, and neanderthalis DNA.

I have yet to see how can nothing make a complex DNA by chance (lottery). I would like to see that?

I love this argument, always highlights the dullards of the forum.

The universe is unimaginably vast, time may be infinite. Do you really think, that despite this great potential for interactions to occur, that DNA is absolutely impossible? That on none of the innumerable worlds, across immeasurable timeframes, the right conditions never came to exist that a DNA like precursor could arise?
2327  Other / Politics & Society / Why do you believe God exists? on: December 02, 2017, 10:27:41 PM
I'm a Scientist, have been for most of my life. I have NEVER believed in a supreme being, despite going to Catholic schools my entire life.

I'd like to know.... What is it that compels you to believe in God? How can you argue for his existence? Please bare the following in mind when you answer;

1. There are literally thousands of religions, each of which has members that believe just as firmly as you do, they say they feel a personal connection with God, they have their own religious books and doctrines etc, if you were born in Saudi Arabia, you would be a muslim, in Ireland you would be a protestant, seems like the place you are born denotes your religion, rather than divine intervention. Obviously you can't all be right, so how do you know YOU are.

2. Most religions state that God is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving, all-present and eternal. If this is the case, why are people punished for sins by an all loving God, who predestined them to commit their sins by knowing the future? Why is there bone cancer in Children, and insects that burrow into the eyes of infants making them blind, could an all loving God not have imagined a reality without this? And why is there such overwhelming evidence AGAINST the existence of a creator?

3. Since the scientific era God has slowly receded into the shadows, God used to be held responsible for most things, e.g. people offered sacrifices for good health, prayed for rain, thought that God pulled the sun across the sky, created plagues etc. Now we know he does none of these, and God has been reduced to a "God of the gaps" whereby he is still attributed to things we cannot yet explain with science, doesn't seem very powerful anymore.

I'll try to respond to the major points in this thread attempting to dismantle them.
2328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The way of Peace on: December 02, 2017, 10:15:52 PM
Very strange that your God hasn't shown himself in the past two thousand years, and it is especially interesting how there are no miracles documented on camera despite their abundance. Surely no supremely intelligent being would not expect any rational person to believe simply because a book says so? The argument from authority is a logical fallacy.

I also find it interesting how you know there is a creator, those with paranoid delusions know somebody is following them, those with the capgras delusion know a relative or friend has been replaced with an exact impostor, schizophrenics with auditory hallucinations know they are speaking to somebody.

2330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it a sin to gamble? on: December 02, 2017, 09:59:36 PM
So let's rephrase this question.

Does the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient deity think it is wrong for you to gamble, despite predestining it via his omniscience, allowing it despite his omnipotence, and observing it via his omnipresence?

A being you think created the universe, wove the fabric of space and time, and wrote the cosmic laws which govern the universe..... You want to know whether such an entity cares about what you do with your money?

What a ridiculous question.
2331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: is it a bubble waiting to burst or a good investment? on: December 02, 2017, 09:27:08 PM
Bitcoin is on the brink of mainstream adoption and we can see with our own eyes that network effect starting to kick in.
At the same time, it is still niche, an unknown phenomenon and nerd money for a majority of 'normal' people.
I am not surprised that people are not asking about bitcoin payments because even bitcoins users assume that no brick and mortar shop accepts BTC so there is no use to even ask.

So it isn't actually used, but it has a higher value than the total number of GBP or Rubles that are in circulation?

I am pretty sure that the GBP and Ruble are actually used everyday by a very large number of people, Bitcoin is used by a few people but is generally just used as a store of value.

A store of value is all good and well, but actually given what Bitcoin is, that is all just based on trust, and that can go down a lot.

Bitcoin can't be used as a currency, it isn't fast enough or have enough capacity to do so, that could change if improvements are made, that is IF improvements are made, who knows if and when that will happen.  I definitely think we are nearer to the top of the price curve than the bottom now, it's rising very quickly for no real reason,

It appears to me that bitcoin is rising simply because it is used as an investment, I think in order for it to break the $50-100k mark there will need to be improvements in the block size and release of a functional lightning network, which will prompt adoption by bigger corporations.
2332  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Zoostorm GT7 Laptop - 256GB SSD, 4TB HDD, Nvidia GTX 980M Windows 10 Pro on: December 02, 2017, 09:21:25 PM
seems like zoostorm have reduced the prices of these machines from £899 retail to £590 on their eBay store (with a 1TB HDD and Half the RAM). I am therefore reducing the price to £500 GBP equiv. in cryptocurrency, or cash on collection, but i will need to remove the 2x2TB seagate firecuda HDDs (as these cost me £100 a pop two months ago) but i will return the 1.75 TB HDD i had installed in there before upgrading them.

See OP for revised specs as well, and the whole thing is now going for £500.

I'll take this if you can drop to £400 in BTC.

Still here with my £400 offer, just let me know and we'll get this done.
2333  Economy / Lending / Re: Parodium's Paypal/BTC loan service on: December 02, 2017, 08:14:01 PM

I'll accept well established altcoins if they're worth at least 120% of the loan amount, e.g. Ethereum, Dash, Ripple.
2334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can't find my Bitcoins purchased in 2011 - please help on: December 02, 2017, 07:45:51 PM
Hi all,

I cannot remember how many I bought - but my friend still has the PC and HDD I sold him - he's going to bring it round to me so we can try and search it for the wallet/dat file - worth a try.

Also, I was mining Bitcoins - it was around November 2011 - but again, I can't remember what I used to mine them, does anyone know what would have been used in Nov 2011 ? is it a system I can log back into ?

ps. Thanks Mountaingoat for https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory will try it when I get the PC back (in a week or two).

David.

It was mostly CPU mining back in those days, so unless you're mistaken about the date, I doubt you used an ASIC miner.

Deal with extreme caution, a newbie with over $20m in BTC, and yet thinks his opening post is sufficient.
