umm kill fiat? problem solved, we need the u.n and governments to help overthrow this to, but the people will change first Most nations have already killed their fiat scrip via de-legitimization (never ending inflation and cumulative unpayable debt). We don't need to do anything but wait, now. ~190 sovereign nations in the world. ~50 already have SHIT currencies (looking at you, Argentina). Even the fiats we do trust, such as US dollar, Chinese Yuan, British Pound, and Euro will go *POP* sooner rather than later, with the next economic iceberg these Titanics will strike in the near future. nice, I hope I live to see us work together on one proper currency for all, one that is fair and just to even people who start with nothing, unlike gold and btc What you're looking for isn't a currency system in the context of modern capitalism, it is a completely new and more egalitarian system of distributing resources with compassion, whatever system will be the "post-capitalism" world. I personally believe that global adoption of cryptocurrency is a necessary stepping stone towards a post-capitalist world system. You will see this in your lifetime without a doubt if you are under, say 60 years old at the time of reading this. Related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YR4CseY9pk

November 2014 should be when Bitcoin will get a lot of attention.
This smells a lot like a speculation thread, but I'll leave that up to the mods.

António Franco Alexandre has an IQ of 195 and studied advanced mathematics at Harvard in the 60's. He has not yet been ruled out from being Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of bitcoin. Here is one link for his thesis in Philosophy. It is in Portuguese. http://www.centrodefilosofia.com/uploads/pdfs/philosophica/11/8.pdfNote that at the end, in the English abstract, he uses the word "genesis". Can you find any other easter egg like this one? Do you have any evidence at all that Satoshi is one person, rather than five or ten or 200? No?

Mr. Nakamoto decides to take BTC offline Unless Mr. Nakamoto is some sort of god, that is not going to be possible for him. Since I don't believe in magic and I find all forms of superstition uncompelling, it seems rather unlikely.

it is traded for fiat now, it is already killed, r.i.p bitcoin 2011-pizza-drugs-2011.... now usd ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) , we will always remember your valiant effort at making a real new world currency but then you messed up and allowed yourself to be traded for fiat tainting your supply... ROFL... you do realize there is no way to create a decentralized currency and have it NOT be freely traded? Just as if people value bitcoin, we are free to trade our fiat for it, it follows logically that people MUST also be free to trade their bitcoin for it. If by some black magic people were UNABLE to bitcoin for fiat, it would be worth far LESS now, not more. It's NECESSARY for the (inevitable) transition from nation state fiat scrip to a truly math-based, objectively valuable form of money like Bitcoin. This transition has only just begun. Remain calm and be patient. How easy is it to KILL the internet?
Excellent response ^^^^ Beliathon as always cuts to the chase and clears the air of all the BS My pleasure

I fear that it will. Greed and a highly unregulated market are a dangerous mix. It would be a shame to see btc ruined this way.
The difference is bitcoin is global, tradable by anyone with a computer or even DUMB cell phone. It doesn't really matter here, it doesn't cause major economic damage the way derivatives trading does.

Relax. It's all just a little bit of history repeating. See for yourself: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FFnJShDU.png&t=663&c=z8e4da5x6zy4zw)

When you have to start your article with the words, "The concept of conspiracy frightens some people..." (implication: but not me, look how brave I am!)
and when you see a quote before ANY text from the author himself ("Tyler Durden", LOL)
yeah, it's probably FUD, or at best conspiracy theory attention-grabbing garbage. Pay it no regard.

it WILL be written in the history books that on the 3rd of January 2009 the nation of the Internet was born. No my friend. It's not the birth of some new nation that's happening here, it's something much better, something far more important. It's the beginning of the end of nation-state hegemony.

"They have 'a couple of bitcoin' each for their efforts so basically these guys are wage slaves and there's one capitalist who owns everything, DOES NO ACTUAL WORK, and gets 99.5% of the profit? Sounds about right. That's the dream ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Puts my GPU rigs to shame. ![Lips sealed](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/lipsrsealed.gif) You still have a chance. From the article: "Currently, you can buy a rig that returns a single bitcoin every nine days for around $2500." -At present mining difficulty (which will increase, cutting into your profits!) -DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR COST OF ELECTRICITY TO RUN IT

No guts no glory. Fiat loan incoming any time now. hahahahahahaah.... bitcoin price dropping .... will have to seriously think this when the fiat is in my hands. (I can always return all the money or lend it to someone else.) Bitcoin @ under $500 means its the PERFECT time to buy! Always keep your mind on the big picture, never the small (short term) one.

One could make a fairly strong argument that Bitcoin is STILL in the genesis stages.
Consider that the Bitcoin Core client is 0.9.2 and not even 1.0 yet!

Do you mean "less than 3% of inmates are ever raped in jail"?
Or "less than 3% of inmates admit to being raped in jail"?
Hmm that may be a valid point. "It was conservatively estimated by the Department of Justice (DOJ) that approximately 1 in 10 inmates were assaulted in 2012, and as prison populations continue to grow, it can be assumed that this number has only increased in the past two years." source: http://lawstreetmedia.com/blogs/crime/rape-part-sentence/3% may not be accurate. If they're "conservatively estimating" 1 in 10 are being "sexually assaulted" in some way, it's probably 15-20% in reality. But be aware that "sexual assault" includes things like touching and molestation, not necessarily full on rape.
