2321  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: March 06, 2012, 06:12:27 PM

Well I don't know if you can disregard GPU0 being flagged or not.  If it is being flagged, it *is* locked up.  But it may be that having one batshit crazy GPU in the system can cause the others to lock up.  I do not know.  BAMT flags the first locked up phoenix process it finds, starting at 0 and working up.

Ahh gotya.  Has anyone had a problem where raising clocks on one card affect the stability of another?  'Cause it kinda seems to be what happens in this case then if GPU0 *is* definitely getting locked.

If you raise your clocks too high on one card, it could bring down the entire rig. This has happened to me before.

We have those racks at my workplace (US).  So yeah, suppose it's a worldwide phenomenon.  Tongue

OK. Maybe a coincidence.

I still am looking for that Rig Box. Grin

Maybe some pictures of just the case so we can establish a scale or imagine how big it will be etc. Huh

Don't worry, I'll post some pics when they arrive.  Grin
2323  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: March 06, 2012, 02:11:29 PM
To all BAMT users:

If you are asking for support on the forums from lodcrappo, please help him out by sending a donation. It wasn't until very recently that I fully understood just how awesome BAMT is and how much easier it makes MY life.

0.5 has been FLAWLESS for me and I run 89 GPUs and 1 FPGA so if you are having problems, it is most likey NOT BAMT.

Please show lodcrappo your appreciation for his FREE software!  Cheesy

Best,
gigavps

Howdy trolls, I got my tracking number. Will confirm delivery by the end of the week.

LOL!   Grin

Couldn't have happened to a better person.

Subscribing.

Also BFL last product ended up be 400% of claimed wattage and 66% of claimed hashing power at 20% higher price.   If Rig box follows that same trend it is ~30GH/s @ 10 KW and ~$35K.  Smiley

Just for reference, the rig box is guaranteed to be 50.4Gh @ 2.5Kw. This guarantee is in the form of partial refund.

A single GPU unit doesn't make a lot of sense anymore.

Go big or go home....
2327  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Rig Box on: March 05, 2012, 07:18:10 PM
Rig box is months (12+ weeks) away based on PM from BFL  Angry

I guess is depends on when you ordered.....
2328  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [320GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: March 05, 2012, 01:49:33 PM
Anyone else notice the trend of rising hashing power and falling users?  The avg hashing power per user is rising.

Higher network hashing power = lower block variance.
Higher network hashing power = higher share variance.

The above combo is a win-win for large miners but a win-lose for smaller ones.  Taken to the extreme at 600 GH/s avg block time is roughly 3 hour (current difficulty).  However at 600 GH/s share difficulty is ~1400 and for a 500 MH/s miner that means a 3.3 hour share time.  Further increases in network hashing power mean increased not reduced effective variance.

Of course there are potential solutions I am just pontificating.
Should we have a "CPU And Crappy GPU Miners" p2pool, and a "Big Ass Hard Core Rig Monster" p2pool? Grin

Why can't p2pool stay the way it is with small miners migrating to p2pool subpools that send out 1 difficulty shares so small miners can still get their cut?

I would be willing to setup / run a small p2pool pool (i coin this a p2p pool, you heard it hear first) without a fee but would need some open source software to run since my time is limited.
2329  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [320GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: March 05, 2012, 01:41:29 AM

That block was found by a fork of people who didn't upgrade to the latest version/protocol change, so p2pool.info is not "missing" anything.

fork that.

Got another response back from Sonny at BFL to my questions. Seems I've got his attention now (he put my questions inline):

I hope this helps to quell some concerns regarding their strategy.

IMHO they are doing the right thing by delivering for the people who believed in them (and paid) BEFORE proof was provided.

Can't wait to get my other 10!  Grin
2331  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoins no longer accepted @ BFL / ordering BFL single / no customer service on: March 04, 2012, 07:08:28 PM
My biggest question about BFL labs is--- why don't they just mine coins themselves?

It's almost the same no-brainer question as with bitScalper.

With the boxes they designed on their own, they could be bigger than Deepbit in a short amount of time.

Same reason why people make pickaxes and sell them to gold miners. It is much more predictable and repeatable to build something and sell it for a known price that you set than it is to mining coins who's value may be 0 tomorrow.

As for accepting bitcoins, I think they will start accepting them again soon.

I have just upgraded my entire farm after testing 0.5 on 4 rigs and it seems to solve most issues cgminer was having!

Thanks lodcrappo!

Wow Giga, that was fast. Internet151 asked me to also post his BTC address so we can be clear once the BTC has been returned.

His address is 1KpeS33zCd5N7CvsBiP8HqZfMEpckxUNRV

Thanks.

Witnessed again.
2335  Economy / Lending / Re: [Funded] 12% BTC loan on: March 04, 2012, 12:31:18 PM
I will be borrowing 1000 BTC from Internet151 at rate of 12% per month (30 days)

Interenet151 has the option to recall the BTC at anytime.

The BTC should be sent to 15o8QTWxS5qFhPB9A6Wft44WRQKn6tsoFP

This thread is mostly to just make the community aware of this transaction in case anything happens in the future.

Witnessed.

What's your choice for motherboards that support 4 GPUs (caseless)?

This is the best (best price and most pcie slots) board I have found for mining.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262

I do use extenders.

http://www.cablesaurus.com/

Can you pls link to the exact cables you use from cablesaurus; which GPU's do use on these boards?

Extenders used:

http://cablesaurus.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=10
http://cablesaurus.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=9

Cards used:

5x5830
5x5850
5x5870
5x6950
3x5970

For the 3x5970 i use powered extenders.

D&T,

I was looking into purchasing 9 of these:

http://pdusdirect.com/power-distribution-units/switched/pdu-cw-8h2-c20m

If you can save me $350 a pop, I would buy enough for my entire farm, and future farm.

This is the last piece missing for me being able to leave town for an extended period of time.

Best,

Dumb question, how once you hook up two power supplies to one motherboard, how do you get the second power supply to startup.

I use these...

http://cablesaurus.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=13&product_id=22

And here is one that is a little less expensive...

Every one of my rigs uses dual power supplies. This is by far the most economical way to get as much 12v power as you need.

I try to use power supplies with:

- Active PFCs (to run on 120v or 240v)
- Single 12v rail (these seems to have less problems not running a MB off of one of the PSUs)
- At least 750w

Here is a list of the power supplies that have worked for me.

- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817709021 (has 2 12v rails. bought these before I knew better)
- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817517008 (use two of these for 5970 rigs)
- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153130 (i was buying these when they were $90/ea)
