2321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino can play a role in changing fortune? on: July 06, 2022, 05:08:49 AM
This testimony sounds like fiction and well compose, I hope it is true because I'm just thinking about how he went to Casino for the first time if he had not been playing before, it is possible that the dude was already a pro on his game and luckily, he uses that as a medium to get back on his job.
He also made a good ending by not playing again with the $25k, that is the mistake that most gamblers do, as soon as they win big, they are always tempted to play more but I like him that he preserves his greed.

I'm not impressed with how he won in the casino but I'm impressed with how he handle his business in order for it to grow and become a multi billion dollar business. Going to the casino depressed is not a good idea, he is just lucky enough but that was $5k turn into $27k in a week, not a major success though.

Sometimes in life, we need to appreciate little wins, the small change you see as a little win may be another person's treasure and besides, the money was a catalyst to his business shelf, it is like a big win for him.
2322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker claims to have stolen 1 B records of Chinese citizens, demands 10 BTC on: July 06, 2022, 04:54:14 AM
Who said personal information obtained from organizations is unimportant? Some months ago, I was so focused on Beginner Board telling them how to prevent everything related to their internet privacy been broken, but many people were interested in my advice. I'm wondering how privates agency will handle stolen people's documents if these ones come from the government.
The hacker will undoubtedly profit from this, I'm confident of it because people on the dark web will be eager to buy it and use it for fraudulent purposes in order to make more money, and also as China been one of the world's most powerful countries, other countries may even disguise themselves in order to obtain information about high-profile people.
2323  Other / Meta / Re: Curious Question about Meriting on: July 05, 2022, 10:25:14 PM
Everyone has a way of meriting a post, it could be a post, or a reply, though the manner they do it depends on the individual. A member could merit a post because he likes what the user post or replies and it could be that a person would merit a post for the effort even without learning anything but personally, I can merit a post even if it is from 3 years as so long as I learn something new or important, that is my way of judging a post or reply in term of merit. Exactly the quote you brought to your post, he is a merit source and has focused on the technical aspect of bitcoin, you can't learn all of bitcoin in a day, we all learn every day. About sending a bitcoin as a way of honouring someone's effort, I don't think I'm buoyant enough to that right now,  Grin Maybe in the future.
2324  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to store your crypto coins safely on: July 05, 2022, 10:03:50 PM
While there are a number of things to take into account when choosing a crypto wallet, security should always come first.

Let's look at a few secure crypto wallets:

1. The Ledger Hardware wallet, also referred to as "cold storage," is generally accepted as the most secure method of keeping cryptocurrency. It keeps your private keys offline and has the backing of security professionals. To ensure that only those with specified access codes may access your crypto, it generates a set of private keys that you should store securely offline.

It generates a recovery phrase and not a bunch of private keys as you say, which must be safely backup and to tighten up the security, you should add a seed extension or passphrase.

Quote
2. Depending on the security layers it uses, a digital software wallet is known to be secure, just like a cryptocurrency exchange. In order to protect themselves from all forms of attacks that could leave them susceptible or result in irreparable loss, an exchange that places a higher priority on security than user funds will typically hold 90% of its assets in an offline cold wallet.

A cold storage or hardware wallet and exchange are two different, when you use hardware, you are safe if you properly manage it the way it should be but using an exchange is like giving bitcoin to your trusted friend to keep for you, you give him the custody of your bitcoin, you can't spend it unless you see him and with that, it could end well or go south

Quote
Not all hardware wallets are created equal, it is crucial to remember this. It is important to research your provider to make sure you are happy with the level of security and control offered. Alternatively, to save time and money, you should use a highly secure exchange like [https://www.quidax.com/]. A hardware wallet's features determine the specific level of security it offers.
Hopefully, you will be able to make a good decision.

Your first paragraph doesn't contradict this statement, Quidax is a centralized exchange, not a software or hardware wallet that you can use to communicate with the bitcoin network.
2325  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Then what will happen to your account? on: July 05, 2022, 08:26:43 PM
I will ask  a question to this community member's. Maybe it's looks werid  but suddenly this question arises in my mind. And the question is:
"what will happen to your account when you passed away ?"
  • Will you pass it on to your children? (Is it legal in this forum ?)
  • Or will everything end there?
  • Then  Can't we see the good deeds from these big reputed people's account?

An account should belong to the rightful owner, I don't think it makes any sense to pass your account to anyone, not that it is a policy but for some reasons such as:
- Reputation: You have built a solid foundation and are well known for the thing you are capable of doing and the things that you cannot, you know your space and limit, you may also be the type that doesn't associate, who doesn't form a clique or any form of friends but as soon as you give out your account to another person, all of these changes.

- The manner of representation: If you are a technical guy, to good about bitcoin underhood and then one day your account changes hand, you may likely get tagged by DT members as people wouldn't want to deal with you, your account may even be a suspected of been bought/sold.

In fact, selling an account on Bitcointalk is prohibited, if your account is found changing hands, just know that it will be damaged by the DT crew.
2326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League has asked clubs to voluntarily end Gambling deals on: July 05, 2022, 06:00:54 PM
They are doing this because they are aware that the Premier League is one of the most-watched sports in the world. Come to think, I am unable to think of any specific justification for calling for this to be banned. For example, if we compare the effects of alcohol and casinos that are both promoted during these games, both have significant positive and negative effects. However, since alcohol gives them more sponsorships deal, they prefer to speak out against the latter.

This is going to be a negative impact on the volume that this sponsorship generates for gambling houses, however, since they don't have enough income to persuade them to change this rule, they should redirect their efforts to other leagues such as Laliga and Bundesliga.
2327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can change of environment have an effect on gambling addiction. on: July 05, 2022, 05:27:48 PM
Can someone still develop the habit of gambling and become an addict even though no one around gambles?

This is very possible, the scenario I have seen went from fun to complex life. This guy was playing fun for, it was sports games and he play the little he could afford to lose until he started using many that weren't his, the loss was compiling and decided to play revenge gambling by playing 3 games with 3 teams and wage high amount of money, he thought he could win back at least 1 to recover all the losses, the tickets didn't work out as predicted, it was his family that help him out at long last to settle the debts.

Someone who comes from an environment or society used to gambling will have the opportunity to change for the better because he will feel embarrassed to try to play in his usual gambling place.

What are you going to say with online Casinos, a gambler can visit a non-gambling environment and still use a VPN or Thor to bypass the restriction and play with confidence and still cash out without any difficulty.
2328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inherited gambling on: July 05, 2022, 05:07:43 PM
^

As far as I know alcoholism can be transmitted on a genetic level as this disease affects genes, destroying them. You can easily notice it in families which have an alcoholic father in the head of the family and live in poverty. This is unlikely to happen with gambling as it only affects a person's psychology. So if you are into gambling it does not mean that your children will have the same hobbies.

So I dig further and I learnt that genes can be modify and since alcohol is a combination of different chemicals if it is abused with time, it can affect the offspring, so I take back my previous example as a case study with heredity but gambling hereditary says otherwise. Although, it can be transferred from parent to children but the percentage is quite low and again, if the child stays with the addicted parents is likely to happen than when they are taken away from them. Literally, if an addicted gambler gives birth to a child and its been taken care of by another caring parent, the chance of the child becoming a gambler will be very low.
2329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inherited gambling on: July 04, 2022, 05:28:08 PM
Gambling habits doesn't really pass from the gene of parents to children, most children are easily influenced by the hobbies of their parents. Normally most male just have interest in gambling because of the money it brings .
These days gambling have turned to be a part of one's hobby. This is the reason we can see majority of common people who are little knowledged about technology are into gambling. Another important reason for the increased participation into gambling by the present generation is through the advertisement broadcast on the television. This doesn't have anything with the inheritance.

Biologically, gambling is not a trait. Even if I have a deep passion for it, that doesn't mean my children will share it. It would be absurd to argue that drinking is a trait that can be passed down from parent to child, gambling is something you can easily give up, and if you quit before your kid is born, he or she won't know anything about your relationship and gambling. unfortunately, society and environmental factors are the primary problems with underage gambling today.

Children are motivated by money, and they pick up lessons quickly from what they observe. Since gambling often culminates in big wins for players, children may want to go into it if they are not properly supervised.  Every parent has a duty to prevent their kids from gambling until they are old enough to take responsibility for their own decisions and also restrict them, where necessary.
2330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is for big bag holders on: July 04, 2022, 05:06:14 PM
This doesn't change anything, my dear, and if today is not your lucky day, there is nothing special you can do about it. This is gambling, and that is precisely what has happened to you. The best you can do is to see this as an experience and use it to your advantage moving forward. You never know where your own may go, but I understand your anguish as it is quite sad losing your small amounts. I saw on this board on Rollbit where one person posted enormous profits in thousands after losing hundreds, you can do it too but take precautions.
By the way, you should be aware that winnings aren't determined by your bet size; you may lose everything by betting your whole deposit on a single round.
2331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: July 04, 2022, 02:58:48 PM
He already said that he wants to leave United but that didn't trigger that much interest. Probably even lowering his demands won't do him too much good - he's way too expensive and ineffective for any top club that can afford him.

Ineffective? Maybe for Manchester United and this season combined if we are to look at his personal problems like when he lost his child, his last season wasn't bad if you ask me, so you cant tell what he can do for other clubs.

I have heard that Ronaldo missed the training recently and he stated the reason like family matters. Manchester United found the reason acceptable but they must have known inside that he did it on purpose actually. They are aware of course that he wants to leave at the earliest opportunity now. But the team are trying their best to keep him for next season. I don't know how healthy this situation is for the team and Ronaldo both. This can cause him to perform worse too if he is prevented from leaving.

The man who everyone thought would bring United salvation to Champions League has changed his mind, if he wants to live, they should let him and sell him for a good price. I understand that his absence after he left Juventus has had a significant impact on their demotion to relegation, but Manchester United is different, they weren't better or worse when he wasn't there.
Now that Chelsea is interested in him, who knows what has been going on with other clubs all this time. Most clubs, particularly those in the English Premier League, want him to come and play for them, maybe that has given him confidence as a hot cake. They should sell him now rather than wait for a free transfer next year.
2332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Be a Failure Even If It Hits $100,000, Says "Black Swan" Author !! on: July 04, 2022, 05:15:03 AM
------

He is not the first person that has run his mouth like a tap by discrediting bitcoin performance all this while, we have had many of them from other finances who are afraid of bitcoin becoming the next revolutionary asset as described by Satoshi in his paper. The problem of the current market performance is global, we know that inflation is one of the factors but we all can agree that in every bull market, the bitcoin ecosystem always seems to have new investors that will all want to buy bitcoin while some are not too prepare for it and the moment the market react, they sell to losses. We have also seen 3 bad events like 3 arrow capital, celsius and other insolvent lending protocols that affected the bitcoin price. If he can't see these things, he should focus on his book and allow bitcoin to do its thing.
2333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin address re-usage can lead to theft of private keys on: July 04, 2022, 05:03:03 AM

 1. It is quite harmful to one's privacy and becomes an impediment to BTC censorship resistance
 3. Quantum computers could extract private keys if these addresses are re used.

I think the Author is somehow misleading, if I want to re-use a wallet address multiple times for transactions, it doesn't give me any security harm to my private keys, also we have not seen any computers who have done that currently except for Quantum computers that have been making news but it is still hypothetical, nothing has been done so far. However, address reuse is a big concern when it comes to privacy, you cannot preserve privacy by using a single address for incoming and outgoing transactions every time, the chain surveillance are watching the network, and the moment you do that, you can easily be detected as the owner of the address and the big problem is that you wouldn't be able to combine it with other UTXOs as soon as that address becomes expose to chain analysts.
So, technically, don't use an address more than once.

Quote
2. It can leave one open to niche attacks and one becomes vulnerable to these cyber thieves who will extract private keys from signatures after a transaction has been made.

A node can carry out a transaction Malleabity by changing your transaction ID on the network but they don't have the strength to extract the signature from a transaction, this point is kind of too off.
2334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An alternative to gambling with money. on: July 03, 2022, 10:41:16 PM
I never think that this is a sensible practice. Real gamblers are never satisfied with such things. They want to experience the feeling of real money. Also, when they play with counterfeit money, they get more angry because they don't have the money when they win, and it hurts them more. I think this will do more harm than benefits.

Why are you going to be angry for something you are well aware that made is for the test, the developers even tried by allowing you to put your skills into the test, gambling doesn't have a test place where you can test your ability and things you have learnt, you have to wager money to know your outcome if it is bad or excellent to make you some winnings. The OP also didn't state the aim was driven at addicted gamblers, I thought gambling was supposed to be fun, what is the after effect of the outcome if you win big, what about the loss? How do you handle it if had been the opposite when you lose a big amount? Just think about it.
2335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: July 03, 2022, 08:12:57 PM
I actually expected United to make some purchases. It is of course also possible that they consciously want to wait a little longer. There are also a number of players that have to cost a lot of money, in principle you should not be in a hurry. It can also be a tactic to wait as long as possible in the hope that other clubs are not interested and then try to get a player for a lower amount. And United already have a nice team, but I am curious how long it will take Ten Hag to make a really good team. That doesn't happen in a few games, it takes time.

Ten Hag appears to be aiming high, but I'm not sure why he has been lagging behind while others are buying more players to strengthen their defence and attack before the start of the pre-season, perhaps Manchester United is trying to get better offers, but with the recent ruckus surrounding the Ronaldo transfer, I doubt if Ten Hag and Ronaldo have this symbiotic relationship. Ronaldo undying love for Manchester United is no longer as strong as it was before he left for Real Madrid, if Manchester United doesn't get a better offer before September, I hope he brings in some trophies to Old Trafford else his journey for football might be coming to retirement, going home at 37 age is not bad at all.
2336  Economy / Gambling / Re: risk of kyc on crypto casinos ? on: July 03, 2022, 07:45:03 PM
I am sorry for asking this question here, but I have to ask to know more in my glossary of terms. What is the full meaning of KYC and it function in casino games? I have been trying to know this term since I came to this board but no concrete explanation, some said, it means Know your customer (kyc) but I am not satisfied. I need  more on the term or acronym.

As you have said, it is just a measurement to know your customer and the identity behind the person in your casino. There are rules laid down in every Casino, it is your duty to follow them and if you break them, you will be penalized for it and if you are found doing money laundering, you will be reported to a designated investigation department and probably prosecuted for fraud.

KYC is very important for the security of a user's money or any transaction. If you ever win a big amount in gambling then you are requested to do KYC. Because they want to be sure through KYC that you are the real person. It is better to do KYC in the casino because you do not have to face any problem in case of large transactions.

How is KYC now a measure for security, it doesn't come close when it comes to the safety of users rather a way of mandatory privacy showcasing at one will, it is not a compulsory aspect of casino but if they request it, you may have to provide it to enjoy other benefits and it may not be enough sometimes as they may even reject it. If privacy isn't something that you value, you can do it to avoid any problems with large transactions or be suspicious of any event but if you are doing that for security, then it is very wrong.
2337  Economy / Gambling / Re: Alternatives to 1xbit on: July 02, 2022, 12:33:44 PM
So the gambling sites that have survived until now are those that already have a new system and also large loyal users such as stake, roobet, 1xbit, primedice and betfury.
It doesn't necessarily have to be new gambling sites, letting hundreds and thousands of dollars sit on gambling sites poses a big risk because you are giving them liquidity, the moment you decide to withdraw them out may indirectly or directly make them broke and there could be a delay in your withdrawals when you want to move them to your personal wallets.
By the way, I see a list of some gambling sites in your comments, why did you include 1xbit despite the plenty threads of accusations that have been reported here, maybe you should check again.

Edit: It is obvious the answer lies in your campaign.  Cheesy
it seems you misunderstood my comment, I only said the gambling sites that survived to this day because it has loyal users and also large liquidity (sorry if I repeat my comment again) and everything I mentioned is according to data Grin

I still remind you all to avoid new gambling sites.

Bull$h!t you just said, what data is that? Where is the data? I can compile up to 10 threads that 1xbit has scammed customers, don't sugar coat your statement because you are also a part of them( A friend who hides a thief is also a thief), you are been paid from the money they have scammed from innocent players and you are boasting that they have liquidity yet they couldn't settle all accusation label against them, liquidity my foot.  Grin

Help by documenting Bitcointalk.org on YouTube and other websites.
Some forum members have personal websites and YouTube channels. Documenting educational, economic, and technical posts made or created by forum users on your respective websites, YouTube channels, and so on will help build the forum's reputation and make the forum home for anyone who wants to learn and share knowledge about bitcoin and cryptocurrency-related issues.

I'm more interested in this one. I've seen some guys go to great lengths to create personal websites with their own domain to share bitcoin information because the Moderators every once in a while delete posts or move them to archival where they may not get views, I've seen NotAtether with one incredible one and there is this particular one where you can estimate the sats you will be paying when making transactions to p2pkh, P2sh, and Native segwits.
There is this gentleman that manages the forum activities and events on his Youtube channel in order to reach out to people, such as the voting that took place earlier this year, and also, the bitcoin wiki has been an outstanding support medium for the forum so far.
