As things are happening through internet, surrounding isn't an issue. I never take into consideration the surrounding. Just because someone is gambling I don't, but the privacy I've got make me go for it whenever I have an urge for money. So according to me surrounding environment doesn't make any impact on my gambling activity.

Changing environment can to a large extent affect the behavior of anybody. Every environment has it's own peculiar activities and unique characteristics. A gambling addict that gambles because he wants to get cash for feeding can stop gambling if he moves to a place where there are diverse lucrative employment opportunities that can cheaply enable him meet his basic needs and get some extra funds. Also, going to an environment where there is no power supply or internet facility can force a gambling addict to stop gambling. Moving to an environment where gambling is seen as a taboo or a great sin can make a gambling addict to reconsider his gambling ways.

Gambling addicts would remain as addicts even when forcefully separated from their original environment. The activity has already been set in place, and only constant care could actually remove it. It's like how removing cigarettes from a smoker wouldn't really help, heck would probably even make things worse since there's a possibility of withdrawal. Letting someone grow in a gambling-free environment though does lower, but not completely remove the chances of someone falling into addiction. Having said that, there is a big difference between living in a country where gambling is normal, or encouraged, and living in a country where it's not normal or encouraged.

So, I would say that yes, a change of environment can greatly affect gambling addiction.

Having said that, a person can always control their own minds, so whatever you decide you will end up doing, independent of where you are.

It's all about distracting the gambler. Gambling is interesting and fun but for as long as there is something that is more interesting than gambling itself, it is possible for the gambler to change. But if there is none, such environment can't change him.

Yes, we agree that the environment has a big influence on the lifestyle of every individual in a country or region. Cultural factors can be a reference in an area. if we look in general for cases of addiction, it is possible if a gambling addict moves from place to place to fix his addiction problem in a new, healthier environment. This is one factor that a person can change, but not only to move to another area he will be finished with his addiction problem. 

Of course, we've discussed in several other threads that genes contribute to the inheritance of addiction although it actually comes back to the individual in each case.

Triggers are objects or stimulus that can easily cause a gambling addict to stay bound to the addiction. These objects or stimulus could be present in the environment where the gambling addict lives. It could be other gambling friends, it could be the land-based casinos. So moving out of the environment to a totally new environment helps. Humans were created as social beings, which means they cannot live without other individuals, the influence of the environment and family can have positive and negative impacts on one life. The influence of the environment plays an important role, relationships that cannot be controlled play an important role in behavior and attitudes. What should be done is to be able to adapt in their relationships, because by adapting they will be able to adapt in their behavior and ways of thinking in their environment in a positive direction.

Gambling is a bad addiction. If anyone is addicted to gambling once.  Then he is considered a bad person in the society.  His behavior changes and he is disturbed to keep pace with the people of the society. Some people become addicted to gambling only when they go to gamble.  But if one does not gamble, he will never be addicted to it.

Yes agree with you on this, society and people around you have impact over you and can change the habits of gambling addict.Like they are spending time together and having good discussion about their lifestyle so the person might enjoy their company and play less.But in some extreme scenarios person might not care what's his surrounding environment is and keep on his same lifestyle becoming addict so there can be both cases for it.

Yes, like the drug addict, getting him to change places and companies can have a positive effect. What happens is that you have to attack the internal causes as well, otherwise there is a risk that he will end up gambling (or taking drugs) in the new place, especially nowadays when gambling is accessible 24/7 from your mobile phone. It's not like a long time ago when you had to go to a physical location where they could see your face. There wasn't the immediacy that there is today.

One should go as far as possible to remote places where there is no internet access, physical casinos, and neighbors who will absolutely not be contaminated by any form of gambling even though you will take your habits to that place. Let's say it is an environment that is thick and concerned with (perhaps) customary and religious laws that prohibit gambling. I don't know where it is but it's somewhere in this hemisphere.

It’s really up to you, no one can know that you are into gambling and changing location or moving into a new environment doesn’t restrict you from playing again. Having a self-control will still matter here because by this, you can be more effective and might be able to stop that gambling addiction to happen. Changing environment will only give you a positive lifestyle, and its really your choice.

Agree. Changing location and environment will really do so much little about someone's gambling addiction because gambling addiction will not heal overnight. It doesn't magically disappear and viola! you are no longer a gambling addict. It doesn't work that way and it never will be. It needs professional intervention such as counselling and rehabilitation. Changing environment could help a bit but it won't guarantee a sure recovery from being addicted in gambling.

Because even though you change environment, but you won't address the root cause and problem of you being a gambling addict, then you will not totally heal. You will just mask yourself up. Probably you'll  stop gambling for a while but after some time of being not active, you'll crave it and try to find it in your system which will cause you to have a setback from old habits. And then eventually, you'll just find yourself being addicted again despite being in a whole new environment. And the cycle will just continue if you will not be treated accordingly.

You can, and still have to be accompanied by a sincere and serious intention to change it if your gambling addiction is really acute.
a good environment will change you for the better and vice versa, with an environment that has positive activities and an even better environment such as entering an environment that always has religious activities that will quickly free you from addiction. And will bring you closer to God.
And you should also get rid of all the gambling related things in your mind and gadgets and change them with things that are positive and beneficial for you.

To avoid internet access is a must when trying to recover from gambling addiction, because even if people around him aren't gamblers and the environment doesn't offer any casinos, slot-machines at pubs or cards games, it's still possible to wager online. The environment is important and makes difference in someone's life, but attention and care for the addicted one are still required, considering there are high chances he is going to find gaps on his new reality to go back to the old one in order to maintain the addiction, and consequently all the excitement or adrenaline it brings to him.
