What did this guy do to deserve fundraisers for him again?
I think that he wants to sue the journalists that made him the "creator" of bitcoin, and when you sue someone you usually need money for it so... he is fundraising money for his expenses. essentially he's a law suit troll? gotcha he's not a lawsuit troll.. ok.. i think we should dox you, and then report to the media that you are... a drug dealing paedophile, who shoots up schools. then let media knock on your door and hassle you for months. then have all the forums talk about you and want to question every inch of your life. like speaking to your former employers. research what schools you went to and contact your teachers. contact your family and ask them personal questions about you. let me guess, your going to pretend that its ok to make a wild accusation that is false and which would cause millions of people to look at you in a different light. and them millions of people recognizing you.

well he did kinda abandon it imo, its extremely shady what happened. like you don't just leave a project completely after it has flourished especially after you founded it. my theory is that he was blackmailed and murdered explaining why he hasnt even anonymously said anything in the past 5 years.
not shady at all.. just google it. he left with good reason. and if you want to talk about people leaving projects. bill gates left microsoft larry ellison leaves oracle brendon eich leaves mozilla

I'd be happy to sell you my BTC for $2k per piece right now. It is a great offer if you trust your feeling.
hmm, great idea. when all these noobs make speculation posts.. we should spam them with offers.. if they are really going to put their neck on the line to make a speculation then they also need to put their money where their mouth is and be willing to buy bitcoin at slightly lower than their speculation.. afterall its no risk to them.. they will get returns when their speculated price hits.. if they decline offers. then they themselves do no believe their own hype and thus their topic should get deleted Why in a world would I buy your bitcoins at $2000 now, believing in my speculation. Where as I am not as rich at the moment and can buy them at 300$ per BTC. So where is your logic in that?. ok, so buy them.. oh wait let me guess you only have $20 of bitcoin and want to hype up the speculation to try turning your $20 into $400... yea.. its noobs like you that just shout out a random number. never list atleast 5 reasons why. and then backs out of a chance to even make profit based on their own 'tips' the point of trying to sell at $2k to you, is that if you truly beleive in your speculation then any price below your speculation would be deemed as a profitable offer. and by you taking up the offer shows you are putting your own fnds on the line to back up your speculation.. so go on atleast buy 0.01btc for $20.. back up what you have to say.. show you stand by your speculation

Financial problems are affecting worldwide, soo may be the run away from some people that has their savings, and dont wanna them be frozen, like what happened at Greece ,the government and banks control the money in and out.
you do realise that an average TV show gets viewed by only a few million.. and thats by people actually tuning in to watch it because they have interest in the show.. so the cheap way to advertise it is not commercial TV. because the cost per viewer is pretty crappy. things like youtube, vine, etc are better and literally free methods to get seen by millions of people. but with that said. the content of the advert is more important about the expense of its production, or the expense of its implimentation. we do not want crappy investment options that sound like ponzi's. we dont want technical seminars that blow peoples minds so much they lose interest because they simply cant take in the info in one go. it needs to be a simple, short applepay/paypal style advert that is short and sweet that links people to the deeper information about how to professionally/properly get bitcoin and use it. i think before arguing about who will publish the advert. or who will script the advert.. we need to concentrate on bitcoins infrustructure to actually get bitcoin user friendly. it needs to be 'grandma friendly' where there is a way that even people living in the countryside/outback can get bitcoin, and can actually use it.. then and only then should it be advertised to the masses.. anyone disagreeing with that doesnt care about bitcoin, but just wants a price jump so they can jump back to fiat.. and thus should be ignored.

Shame I don't particularly like coffee but if the story was about burgers or pizza I would definetly keep my Bitcoins instead of giving them to the casinos.
guess you missed the "bitcoin pizza" story that happened years ago which was the first big story of using bitcoin. which ignited the flames of thousands of peoples imaginations

![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) oh please. that lasted what? half a day? "media has affected his life" gimme a break. it lasted longer then that.. even a year later theres stupid people on this very forum saying dorian is the creator. and dorian is still getting contacted about attending interviews or answering questions.. he is not being left alone. imagine you are a basement dwelling hermit who just wants to have a quiet life.. but now your pictures are all over the internet. theres meme's of your face and you are getting contacted by strangers.. yea, if you were channing tatum or another celebrity you would accept all the attention as its part and parcel of being a movie star.. but if you are a hermit, then the attention you are getting is actually affecting your life.

What did this guy do to deserve fundraisers for him again?
he was hounded and harrassed by media. stalked and publicised. all because a media outlet decided he was the creator of bitcoin. this has been disproved but media has affected his life. and as a bitcoin community we found that because the media shitstorm was about the supposed creator of bitcoin. we thought we should do something positive to help this guy out. no one is forcing anyone to donate, so relax you dont have to do anything if you dont want to. but many people who enjoy their privacy do not like to see another persons privacy being invaded due to wrongful allegations, and thus people feel sorry for the poor guy

currency can be anything.. gold, vodka, cigarettes, sexual favours. basically anything one person has and wants to offer to another person..
the guy in th video is talking, not about currency. but about 'money' which is a subdevision of the umbrella term currency.
money is them pieces of paper that cost 3cent to make but are valued at $10,$20, $50, $100... all because of the different lettering on the paper. money is the cheap metal worth 10% of the value etched into it.
it is money that needs to be backed by something to hold actual value, enough for people to trust and desire.. for it to then be tradable and thus be classed as currency.
the guy in the video has no clue of that basic difference between money vs currency.
as for saying its a mathematical algorythm... yea so what bank notes are just paper and ink gold is just an element on the periodic table
maybe he needs to think about currency in a different way, because whatever he is ranting about is not currency,, but money

give it time and the question will be asked why it moves in the other direction..
in short my answer is .. the price moves.. it goes up, it goes down. it can be stagnant it can be volitile.. its how trading goes..

the point still stand, if your "friends" work together to still your funds while you're still alive
assuming that you cannot trust anyone in your life, not even your family, there is no truly way of doing it without removing completely the possibility for them to have access to it early
you dont tell your friends.. you just have it in your will "i decare that my 4 friends use their date of births, together in a certain combination. the order of the combination and the final code to end it can be found in safe deposit box 26 at bank of america, branch..." your friends wont have access to the will or the safe deposit box until you die. and its the lawyer that would have to supervise the 4 friends as they put the puzzle together to ensure its split evenly they never hear or know if it was their D.O.B, or SS number or any other info until the day of the reading of the will

i got my wallet passphrase into my folder D: of windows in txt file but very diff to acces my computer so its safe
the passphrase is just a password to access the wallet. its not the contents of the wallet, and its best to not rely on the password/passphrase as your only means of safety. backup the actual private keys holding your funds and regularly back up the private keys as bitcoin sends funds to different addresses when it gives you your change back. put the private keys onto a separate storage device away from your computer. afterall if someone broke into your house to steal your computer.. your screwed. the wallet is gone.. and the passphrase is useless because its just a password to access a wallet that is now in someone else hand but if you have your private keys backed up elsewhere. you can import the private keys into a new wallet

Bitcoin needs to find a proper niche where it is actually used not spectulated with (right now the only market is the illegal one if we are honest). This niche could be either for paying for small services/subscriptions/apps/entertainment or for larger transactions like buying real estate, cars, etc. As the fees are so low and there's no middle men the last one also makes sense.
However for that to happen every government will be all over it and be the first in line to collect taxes, so I really don't know what's the future for Bitcoin. It's ten times easier to pay with credit cards or paypal than it is to use Bitcoin for common people. Bitcoin is just a new way of thinking and fresh technology but mainstream implementation is still very unclear.
in 1997 the internets niche was porn. in 2015 the internet is communication, advertising, information, media, shopping and entertainment.... and porn. in the 1800's bank notes niche was travellers. people going from one campsite to another without having to lug around buckets of gold and handing the bank not to the bank in the new site to swap back to usable coins. in 2015 bank notes are used to buy chewinggum, pepsi, wages, anything. near or far. in 1950's cards were used for large purchases where people didnt want to lug around heaps of bank notes. in 2015 cards are used for everything

Seems like a neat idea actually. Just be careful on choosing whom to give a piece of the passphrase as it will be valuable in times of need. If in case one part of the passphrase is lost, creating the whole passphrase and safekeeping it would save you and your family in case one part was lost.
thats why you use static data, like a social security number or date of birth. so its readily available.. but without having to actually write down the data itself. -snip- But what if, say for example, all of the wielders of the passphrase were caught in an accident and you have no copy of the whole phrase, that means you already lose the funds if ever, so keeping one 'just in case..' would always come in handy, at least on how I view it. as i said.. you dont hand out the splits of the passphrase to the person on post-it notes.... you use a piece of data that is significant to that person. and only mention that persons name in your will.... that is it that way the lawyer wont even know the passphrase when drawing up the will as its not wrote anywhere. only hints are provided. that will only be pieced together when all 4 family members are at the reading of the will. and are people that collectively know each other to piece it together (should one die) and then under the supervision of the lawyer reading the will he will ensure it is administered correctly. for instance until the will is read the 4 relatives have no clue if its their social security number, date of birth, or middle name which is the split.. they wont find out the hint until your death. and then only while infront of the lawyer will that hint be revealed. and if there are only 3 out of the 4 people alive. they under supervision of the lawyer will know the missing person to fill in that hinted info. to then split the funds as deemed moral

thats why you use static data, like a social security number or date of birth. so its readily available.. but without having to actually write down the data itself. you then do not explain what category of data you are using of the individuals, you keep that safe and locked up in a will. you can even have a safe deposit box which contains the order in which the splits should be positioned and keep that in another location for extra safety. but the main bit is.... if you cannot trust 4 people in your life. then maybe they do not deserve to be your beneficiaries, and you should choose a charity or just a couple people to receive the inheritance
