2341  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: AmoryDB.exe has stopped working... on: September 04, 2017, 09:33:43 PM
Upgrade to Armory 0.96.2
2342  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: P2SH-P2WPKH (Segwit) change addresses in Bitcoin Core - how? on: September 04, 2017, 09:30:25 PM
achow, do you have any idea on the timeline of this minor release? If it will take more than two months, I might as well use Ethan's solution (want to urgently reduce tx fee right)
There is no ETA for the minor release.
2343  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.96.2 on an external drive possible ? on: September 04, 2017, 01:23:42 PM
Bitcoin Core and ArmoryDB are failing to start. Try starting Bitcoin Core manually. Also try starting ArmoryDB manually. To start ArmoryDB manually, you will need to open the command prompt in the folder containing ArmoryDB.exe. Then run your ArmoryQt command but with ArmoryDB.exe instead.
2344  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.15.0 Release Candidates Crashing on Windows on: September 04, 2017, 01:20:25 PM
maybe this is what is draggin 0.15 back?
Is there any new release date? I read it was out on Sept 1st
No, this is not why 0.15.0 has been delayed. 0.15.0 has been delayed for other bugs that were found and for the fact that most Core developers and the project maintainer are currently traveling and thus unable to access the PGP keys used to sign releases.
2345  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.96.2 on an external drive possible ? on: September 04, 2017, 03:03:38 AM
Isn't --satoshi-datadir meant to point at "F:\Bitcoin\blocks" (in your case). As per https://btcarmory.com/docs/pathing#armoryqt
No. It points to the satoshi datadir, not the folder containing the block files.
2346  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.96.2 on an external drive possible ? on: September 04, 2017, 12:03:48 AM
Please post your log files.
2347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Shuts Down When Attempting To Send BTC on: September 04, 2017, 12:02:57 AM
What is the exact error that you get? Can you post a screenshot of it?

Can you please also post the debug.log file?
2348  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Beginner: Using Armory / start-up - not going online on: September 03, 2017, 06:32:04 PM
Aha.

So Bitcoin core is the programme who retains the big data file of transactions. Is it ok to keep it on an external hard disk?

I am running armory/bitcoin core on my laptop which only has one 128GB SSD (obviously not enough for the data file).
You will need to have that disk plugged in whenever Bitcoin Core or Armory (or both) are running. Armory will also need to have the --satoshi-datadir option set so that it knows where those files are.
2349  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory offline with Preparong Databases on: September 03, 2017, 06:29:02 PM
Just before I do,does the log indicate an error and why should it be necessary to upgrade?
The newer versions contain a lot of bug fixes so that may fix a problem that you have.
2350  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Beginner: Using Armory / start-up - not going online on: September 03, 2017, 05:33:35 PM
Have you downloaded and installed Bitcoin Core? If not, do that.

Is Bitcoin Core synced? If not, let it sync before starting Armory.
2351  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory offline with Preparong Databases on: September 03, 2017, 03:45:40 PM
Try upgrading Armory to 0.96.2
2352  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Does Armory Fully Validate Received Transactions? on: September 03, 2017, 03:44:13 PM
Armory requires a local bitcoind to be available for it to connect to. That is how Armory is able to connect to the Bitcoin network. It connects to the local bitcoind (which should be a trusted peer, after all, it is local) and the bitcoind fully validates all of your transactions and blocks. Armory itself does not fully validate transactions.
2353  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: "signrawtransaction" question,thx! on: September 03, 2017, 04:29:54 AM
The second parameter needs to be provided whenever Bitcoin Core does not have the inputs you are spending in its UTXO set. This could be when you are signing for inputs that have already been spent, are on an offline machine, Bitcoin Core is out of sync, or a multisig input is not part of your wallet (i.e. you wallet does not know the redeemscript).
2354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to stay with legacy address format? on: September 02, 2017, 10:50:35 PM
Well, that kinda sucks to be honest. On that case, I will be sure to keep my long term storage coins in the original bitcoin format, and use segwit for transacting, but not storing the coins (and I will still use the classic format for transacting if the fees aren't too high)
In the event of a hard fork, anything can happen, including allowing for anyone to steal coins in non-segwit addresses. A hard fork can change any consensus rule; there are no restrictions, so even having your coins in non-segwit addresses would not be safe. This is only a problem if you expect that a hard fork should happen that everyone agrees to that would allow anyone to steal segwit outputs. That would mean that there would only be one blockchain. However IMO any such hard fork would be contentious (after all it would allow for stealing funds) and there would most certainly be two blockchains - the original which still has segwit activated, and the one that does not have segwit activated and thus coin theft.

In the case a hardfork, what would happen to your BTC if the BTC are held in a lightning network hub/channel thing? You would also lose them so you need to move them back to a legacy format address?
Since LN uses segwit, yes, such a hard fork could result in stolen funds there too.

I don't understand why you are so concerned about such a theoretical hard fork. It would be a hard fork to deactivate segwit, which means that it would be contentious and lead to a chain split like Bitcoin Cash did. All that would happen is that a new altcoin is created. The thing is, with hard forks, anyone can make a hard fork at any time that changes any consensus rule, including allowing for the theft of coins. For example, I could make a hard fork right now which simply allows me to steal all of your funds right now. But that fork would be an altcoin, and no one would pay attention to it. I think you are giving too much credit to such a hard fork even existing, let along being a threat to anything. If such a fork happened, it would almost certainly be ignored by the majority of users and just become another worthless altcoin.
2355  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 0.96.2 not starting properly on: September 02, 2017, 05:47:41 PM
What should I be putting in armoryconfig.txt so that I only need to set --datadir each time?
Exactly what you have in your command for the --satoshi-datadir option (with the two dashes and the option name itself).
2356  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: BDM thread failed on: September 02, 2017, 03:53:51 PM
Please post all of your log files. Also, upgrading from 0.93.3 to any newer version requires Armory to built a new database. You will need to delete the databases folder in the Armory datadir to allow it to do that.
2357  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory offline, not closing on: September 02, 2017, 03:49:43 PM
Try starting Bitcoin Core manually instead of letting Armory handle it for you.
2358  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: I run armory offline on ubuntu 14.04 32bit,but the message is "core dumped". on: September 02, 2017, 03:46:38 PM
Your CPU is too old, you have too little RAM, and you are using a 32 bit OS but Armory only supports 64-bit. Your system does not meet the minimum requirements and cannot run Armory.
2359  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Help:Setup error.System is Win10 64bit,and language is Chinese. on: September 02, 2017, 03:45:26 PM
Basically determine the problem is because the data directory contains the Chinese(windows user name), but I do not want to change my windows user name, there is no way to change the armory data directory? Thank you!
Move your datadir to a new place. Then start Armory with --datadir=<path> where <path> is the path to the new location of your datadir.
2360  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Glitch or bug in 0.96 on Debian on: September 02, 2017, 03:43:46 PM
Upgrade to 0.96.2
