OK here are 2 more versions:

I changed the font, and put the binary in the back, once decoded, says "in cryptography we trust" twice.

I have an idea.  I set up a separate wallet on one of my mining computers for people to donate money to SETI.  I am reputable, I have the http://www.bitcointrading.com/ community's reputation at stake and I will post this address there as well.  I will give 100% of the donations to SETI once someone can get them to post an address.  And I wouldn't claim to be holding funds for any other reason but to help out SETI.  This way once they get a wallet set up they will have already have some bitcoin ready to send.

I'll probably throw some change in the jar as well.

Here's my post on bitcointrading.com.

Edit: to expand upon this idea I have set up a deepbit.net account and set the automatic payment (@0.25 BTC) to go to that address (1Cdr5KgYyQzkasD8JL1w2ZwATfeuMDLqpU).  It's set up for proportionate payments, PPS is ridiculous.

So if you have some spare hashes, point your miner towards deepbit.net

I like the fact that you guys have EVERY sport and game I can think of.  Living in Winnipeg, I was excited to see that "tonight's" Winnipeg Jets game was ready for betting!  (luckily I didn't bet though b/c we lost in shootout) Smiley

Satoshi wanted BTC to be like gold: initially easy to create but then increasingly more difficult. I don't think he put a ton of thought into it. This algorithm will work fine, though.

It's kind of odd, though, that he would just arbitrarily pick a tapering-off point, after all the work he put into the rest of the system, isn't it? It's almost like he didn't care about the economics of it, and just wanted to test the soundness of the algorithm for handling transactions.
Well there is still economics after the tapering point, in fact it might be that point where bitcoins absolutely skyrocket in value.

With the 28nm core I expect we will be able to overclock higher and run them cooler which should yield better results.

Like the rest of you, I'm waiting impatiently for someone to get some hashing numbers.  Exciting stuff, though!  Why not release it last week so sell them for xmas?  If I was in charge of this world, that's what I would have done.

2351  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rationale for bitcoin creation tapering off on: December 22, 2011, 05:35:11 AM
A question I have is.. once all 21 million are released, that would eliminate mining altogether?  So how would the bitcoin transactions become confirmed?

Miners will still "mine" transaction fees.
Oh ok, still some gas in the tank at the end of the road.  Awesome Cheesy
2352  Economy / Services / Re: [BitcoinTrading.com] Bitcoin Classifieds [Free 0.10 BTC for new users] on: December 22, 2011, 05:32:48 AM
I like what you have going there. How many page view per month?

Here's the exact numbers:
July 2011 - 50,189
Aug 2011 - 51,042
Sep 2011 - 64,595
Oct 2011 - 40,943
Nov 2011 - 88,194
Dec 2011 - 63,431 (so far)

I think the domain switch from bit-coin-trading.com to bitcointrading.com as being the best decision I could have ever made.  And I didn't break the site in the process which is always a nice bonus!

For those considering if there is a market for specialty items like this, would you say you had enough buying interest to make it worth your while?
I would order a jug!

My #1 concern, among with a blog article about your site which I will choose not to post here because I can't confirm it's accuracy, is this:

There is an animation on the front page that shows the top winnings of the games.

Currently it says this:

MORE THAN 100 CASINO GAMES

Biggest win this month:
3D ROULETTE BTC 78,00 Australia

25 LINES ACES & FACES BTC 150,00 Austria

HAPPY BUGS BTC 96,00 Colombia

GLADIATOR BTC 226.00 Argentina

ELEKTRA BTC 191.00 Italy

SANTA SURPRISE BTC 271,00 Germany

FRANKIE DETTORI BTC 235,00 Italy

BONUS BEARS BTC 185.00 United Kingdom

BLACKJACK BTC 120,00 USA

DOLPHIN REEF BTC 275.00 France

Gladiator BTC 140.00 Germany

AZTECA BTC 95,00 South Africa

THE INCREDIBLE HULK BTC 175.00 Russia

IRON MAN BTC 182.00 Norway

X-MEN BTC 169.80 Egypt

DESERT TREASURE BTC 99.00 Brazil

PENGUIN VACATION BTC 55.00 Colombia

FROM RUSSIA BTC 95.00 Netherlands

That took me awhile to grab off the site, but let's look at the data.  The "top" winner of those games (remember, there are over 100 games and this is just 20 of those games) is 2837.80 BTC.  At $4 a coin that's $11,351.20, not bad for a web site that is only a WEEK OLD.  And that's not even the losers or the not-so-biggest winners on each game, which I estimate to be another billion btc of revenue. Let's say hypothetically someone in Egypt won 169.80 playing X-Men, that bitcoin transaction would show up in the blockexplorer, right?  Show us.  Why are some of the reported biggest winners reported with a comma between the decimal place?  Why is Gladiator listed twice, when there is only 1 Gladiator game in the interface.  I feel like I've wasted enough time trying to prove my point.  Defend yourself.

2359  Economy / Goods / Re: Looking to Trade an 6990 for a CPU and GPU's on: December 21, 2011, 10:40:07 PM
what i see happening in the best case scenario, Is me mailing my 6990 off, Twiddling my fingers, Then a bit later in the mail i get 3 5830's two Risers and that cpu.

Opionions on how fair this idea is?
that would be the.. best case scenario, i mean, that would be your goal, right?  since this is a sort of multi-part trade thing i think to better understand it.. how much $$ are you asking in trade value for the 6990 and how much trade value does a 5830 have to you?  because the CPU you want is like $300 (fantastic deal for an octo-core) and each of those 5830s are worth.. how much?  and then hmblm1245 has gpu risers and 5830s.. but he only has two, how could a 3-way dealio work.  im confused but i would like a 6990 because i have multiple cards i can't use because i killed a motherboard somehow and don't have enough slots for the remaining cards.
