2341  Economy / Economics / Re: How did Bitcoin start to price increase? on: February 26, 2017, 11:01:11 AM
The same way everything else acquire its value, the law of supply and demand. Fortunately bitcoin is a limited supply. So if new demand arises, the price will easily rise too. Unfortunately, the volume is still low that whales can still manipulate the price by dumping and pumping bitcoins.

I agree on the "supply and demand" part, but I don't think "whales" are really manipulating the Bitcoin's price these days. To do that you have to risk millions or rather dozens of millions of USD. I doubt people are doing that actually.
We know that Bitcoin is limited to only 21 million coins and as more people are adopting it, the available coins are no longer concentrated in one or few persons anymore. To effectively dump Bitcoin, it would entail having a significant number of holders to be willing to sell off their coins and with plans of not buying again and I just don't see how that can work out anymore, because the consensus of bitcoin enthusiasts, is that we are going to the moon.
2342  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST bets, chat, quick deposits, charts, WAGERING CONTEST NOW on: February 26, 2017, 10:36:23 AM
Overall, I think the site is coming up strong as I notice there are up to 251 chatters this moment at the site!
Even with 251 users at a given point we do not see that much active members in chat, may be they are busy rolling  Wink.Good to see the updates regarding the withdrawal as nathan specified the fees regarding instant and batch withdrawals which was missing early today when i checked.
Congrats to the winners of Wagering Contest. Hope to see more contest from Yolo.

It's completely personal. I personally, for example, have over 1000BTC wagered on different dice sites and never wrote a single message in chat. When I play, I play Smiley
Batch withdrawals are interesting feature.
You are right, most players often prefer to concentrate on their games than chat, because chatting has some ways of taking one's attention off the game. I am liking the speed of the game here as well as the randomness of the numbers, hope it stays so, because that is the only way to retain players and even attract more!
2343  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hedge funds gamble on Mt Gox bitcoin payout on: February 26, 2017, 12:02:05 AM
Out of my 20k$ gox claim the hedgefund offers 3000$ in cash immediately. Would go for it? Or waiting another 2 or more years for finally not getting anything at all?

I guess it depends on how badly you need the money. I think that if you wait the 2 years you will definitely get SOMETHING. The question is, what will the price be. If you are convinced that the price is going to be higher, it makes sense to wait it out. But if you think it might crash, then take the money and run. It is a gamble and only you know whether you want to risk it.
If we believe price is going to get higher, a safer and quicker move would be, to discount your portfolio to the hedgefund and then hold it all the much you desire, whatever happens, a chunk of your bad debt at Mt. Gox is cooling its heels in your wallet and that is inline with the wise saying that - a bird at hand is worth two in the bush!
2344  Economy / Economics / Re: Make money from money on: February 25, 2017, 11:45:46 PM
This was the era when money can control everything, so that the rich are getting rich and the poor is getting poorer. There should be a role of the State to regulate so that prosperity can be evenly distributed.
I must ask you to wake from your dream, because what you seek shall never be. Money answers to hardwork, diligence, all those things that makes one creative and add value to life, other than that, penury becomes unavoidable. Most people that are broke are day dreamers, they sleep for over 8 hours everyday, while most rich people hardly sleep for up to 4 hours everyday. The fact however still remains that there is still so much of the ocean left unexplored for anyone wiling to dive in.
The habbit of success people is less sleep. But if they use their money to create an investment that make passive income, it will be better. So they will become good investor that work hard and work smart.

Amount of sleep does not correlate to your wealth. It is the amount of work you have done while you are awake and the amount of money you earn while you are sleeping that matters. Even if you sleep all day if your workers earn money for you, you will still be successful. Working hard is just a part of it. Making things work for you is the answer.
To a large extent, the amount of sleep one takes in a day may not correlate with the wealth one creates, but that is if one is already off the rat race. If one is just starting up and prefer to stay in bed most of the day, we don't need a crystal ball to see why life gets rather so hard. Same goes for staying awake all day, but busy doing nothing in particular.

Best bet is however to work hard in one's youthful days, so that one's money would then start to do the work in later days. Some people actually spend their life time accumulating wealth, only to spend the wealth in taking care of their health the rest of their lives Huh
Too much of anything is certainly bad!
2345  Economy / Speculation / Re: THE DUMP on: February 25, 2017, 06:39:48 PM
To buy again, I would prefer to wait for price to come down to $800 - $900, outside any major news to start buying again.

What if it doesn't ever come back down to $900?  Someday if it hits $20,000 or more, we won't really care if we bought in at $900 or $1100.
That's the thing with people they only see one feet in front of their noses and never think about long term profits, in bitcoin whenever you buy and as much as you can afford to buy you'll stay in profit years from now.
While we are all full of expectation that Bitcoin is headed for the moon, it would help to understand that market price of any asset does not climb in one full swoop. It always moves in wave form - if in an uptrend, it goes up, a bit down, up again and so on. Price has been ranging around $1000 for sometime now and any breakout would retest the previous major support before finally exploding, that is how the market works and you can backtest to conform it.

Price may not necessarily touch $900 again, but the chart would no doubt show when the bulls are mounting so much pressure and adjustments can always be made.

2347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pros and Cons Of A Country Doing "Bitcoinization" on: February 23, 2017, 09:34:15 PM
I ran across this article http://www.investopedia.com/articles/04/082504.asp about the idea that a country abandon the local currency in favor of the exclusive use of the U.S. dollar (or another major international currency, such as the euro). They call it "dollarization" so why don't we add "bitcoinization" to the discussion?

It also talks about the idea of "pegging" their local currency to a major international currency (this differs from dollarization as it is non-exclusive use).

So, what if countries start using Bitcoin in either of these ways? There are many (hundreds) of countries, some too small to really develop "counterfeit" proof fiat paper currencies. And with the proliferation of cell phones, digital money is just more efficient so they would be able to leap frog over the whole fiat fiasco by going right to digital.

So what might countries experience if they did allow Bitcoin an equal playing field to compete with other currencies that their populations are already using? Especially the type/size country the article is talking about (smaller ones).

If that ever happened, then it will need to be in a small country with a low amount of population that has high standards of life, and that is because to use bitcoin you need electricity, internet access and a computer or smart phone, so you could not do that in third world country because many people don't have access to any of those 3 things.
I still seethe possibility for Bitconization even with a small but developed country running into mucky water because it takes been in near absolute control of the economy to be able to manage a developed country. Leakages in tax collection, inaccurate balance of trade data and above all, the country would be open to all-what-not influences that happens anywhere in the globe. That leaves us with the picture that the cons for bitcoinization seems to outweigh the pros, even for a small and developed country, so it would be quite unlikely that it would become the order of the day in anyone country.
2348  Economy / Speculation / Re: THE DUMP on: February 23, 2017, 08:34:35 PM
Just sold my trading stash. Price is climbing too fast. Short  positions prepared at 1140 USD. Lots of them...
you are definitely right, it is risky to buy right now if you are a daily trader, in my opinion the price is going to fall to at least 1050 before starting to climb even more than 1140 usd per bitcoin
Yes price is climbing rather to fast and it stands to reason to expect a fall in price for reasons of profit taking or panic selloff, but I don't see it falling freely - don't just expect dump of Bitcoin! Anyone looking to buy Bitcoin now had better think it through, because he/she might just be buying at the pick of the price which would entail selling at a loss or having to wait it out until the the price level is tested again in the future. To buy again, I would prefer to wait for price to come down to $800 - $900, outside any major news to start buying again.
2349  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Will Spike Over 65% After Winkelvoss ETF on: February 23, 2017, 08:03:27 PM
ETF will be a gate for institutional capital to invest in bitcoin. If we think, who is buying BTC now?
Most money managers can't invest in Bitcoin because it is not registered security and they can't touch it because of that.
With ETF in play it will be possible for institutional money to flow into bitcoin. People will realize that Bitcoin is now backed by legal financial institution.
So BTC will no longer be 'that thing used to buy illegal goods' but instead become something approved by SEC.
All that will make bitcoin price more stable, because volatility will vaporize, and effect on price will be significant.

I quite agree with your take that Bitcoin ETFs would attract more institutional investors to Bitcoin, but to have Bitcoin backed by legal works is going to be a tall order, because the authorities are mindful of the fact that Bitcoin stands to push especially the local currencies to the background if given legal backing and for that, it should be understandable why they would rather look the other way. Nevertheless, ETFs would provide an avenue for the authorities to influence the price of Bitcoin and I think they would be interested in that!
2350  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitFlyer the world's largest bitcoin exchange Jan 2017? How? on: February 23, 2017, 06:09:29 PM
Yup. Zero fees. And if that 400,000 figure is true then 399,000 of them will be foreigners looking for action. Japan really doesn't seem to have taken to Bitcoin in any way whatsoever.

How does BitFlyer make it's money? The Chinese exchanges were making money through charging interest for margin trading - is BitFlyer using the same model?
it is just part of promotion , the site says transaction fees free at least for two weeks as campaign to attract people to trade there. so i guess after that the fee will be there as usual , no way they can make it last forever.

also if you take a look to alexa stats http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/bitflyer.jp , the whole traffic come from japan only , hmmm is there something wrong?

OK thanks. It means they will be the "biggest exchange" only for a short period of time.
i guess so , worth to see if this exchange will keep growing day by day or just take an opportunity on chinese exchange which have make a lot of trader disappointed with a new regulation about trading fee etc.

bitflyer itself has been there for few years , yet they are only prioritize japanese bitcoin trader, but now seems like ready to open for worldwide trader.

A huge losses if China market doesn't immediately prepare to take back its position on world bitcoin market. Japan only running a massive promotion to attract visitors. China will not think too long, they will play a different strategy for anticipating.
It is all good for the Bitcoin community if the this competition between exchanges in China and Japan ensues as it will brew more volumes of transaction which by extension would translate to much more demand for Bitcoin and which is exactly what keeps its value up and climbing. One more thing is that it would send a clear signal across to all those governments thinking of standing in the way of Bitcoin.
2351  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice Wagering Competition! 🔶 on: February 23, 2017, 05:43:09 PM
Congratulations all winners and great work YOLOdice! Wasn't quite aware of the contest and had not much fund in my balance because was still testing my strategies to see how it goes and what really works for me. I am in for the next round though, still unable to properly have the autobet do what's on my mind, so going to be manual game for now.
2352  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST bets, chat, quick deposits, charts, WAGERING CONTEST NOW on: February 23, 2017, 05:20:49 PM
I also saw two options for withdrawal. I think the manager has made adjustments Yolodice reasonable, they are increasingly build websites get better. I withdrew my Funds using the batch option, the fee is 10k satoshi and after 1-2 hours I was getting it. I also withdraw money using the instant optional, it very quickly, almost immediately I get the money then. The fee for this option is higher, but people can get money immediately. Both are good options. I think everyone will be thrilled with this adjustment. Hopefully the manager will develop yolodice further Cheesy
It is interesting to note those two options for withdrawal are there! I believe they are well-thought-out, one to cater for low fee and the other for speedy transaction. In these days, that high transaction fees and delays in confirmation of transaction are fast becoming an issue with Bitcoin, I think both would be quite helpful depending on what a player would be having in mind when he/she goes for a withdrawal.

Overall, I think the site is coming up strong as I notice there are up to 251 chatters this moment at the site!
2353  Economy / Economics / Re: How did Bitcoin start to price increase? on: February 23, 2017, 11:08:29 AM
Start will maybe come again here nobody cant know that but I am really sure that it will never be like before growing maybe similar to start if somebody push bitcoin price.
of course bitcoin price is not going to come back to the low prices it was before, but it might actually drop a little bit before starting to grow once again, hopefully it will make us all some decent money.
Bitcoin now has 8 years behind it! It is fast maturing and becoming more formidable, so much so that dumping it can no longer be a walk over as was the case when only a handful of people were interested and holding it. Right now its market capitalization stood at $18,235,539,835 and that speaks volume of the level of acceptance of Bitcoin. What we shall be seeing is some occasional drops in price, which sooner or later gets corrected as Bitcoin is really destined for the moon.
2354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which gambling sites have 0% house edge? on: February 22, 2017, 04:32:32 PM
I have never heard an gambling casino site with 0% houseedge. If there is one so i wonder how they profit from that

There are still, I am not sure which ones but I know there are some out there. You could probably check out this thread for the links and check it out yourself. They still profit even without house edge. House edge is just an "edge" over the gamblers for the casinos. However, even with 0% house edge there is still a great chance that the casino will win over the long run, since statistics will tell you that no matter what settings you put there will ba a complete losing streak for infinite number of times too.

I agree the losing streak of anyone would also be infinite. I've tried using a win chance of 90% and even at that rate I lose 10 in a row, well that was because I was on autobet and using a martin gale system that I modified. That was how I proved that the chances of losing is still great even at high chances of winning.

No matter what you do 90% winning chance does not mean you really into that strategy because the profit you get can't cover your loss unless you martingale it to 10x or 100 then it will be enough but how can you hold this for long period? This is just suicide better to play it on 50% or may be 60% winning chance, may be you can even get some good payout rather than using 90% chance on bot
Even you are setting it into 10x or 100x the result would be the same.. there are no best method or strategy that actually you can earn a good profit.
It will be still depends if you are lucky or not.. many people are losing a lot of bitcoin if you are not wise of choosing what game that honestly making good profit you will lose more and never recover your loses anymore even today you win how about next day or next week? not always you can win..
Even the house edge is 0% it will be still the same result..
The house does not work so much against a player as does the variance of the outcome. I have encountered 4 losing streaks with 97% and at first I felt it wasn't possible. However on further studies, I discovered even though  it was 3 against 97, the 3 can often come back to back. Betting with very high winning chances apparently leaves players with wrong impression that they are onto some never lose settings.

2356  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: February 21, 2017, 09:34:19 PM
In the first place, Bitcoin was not designed to be a replacement for the fiat currencies, rather the idea behind it was to address the many anomalies surrounding government issued money and then pointing the way forward for the future of money. In the long run, fiat currencies are likely to get modified but replacement is simply not in the offing, because the governments would never support anything that robs or limit its power, which is one thing Bitcoin has the potential of doing.
2357  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: February 21, 2017, 05:00:11 PM
soon bitcoin prices will actually reach $ 1,100. Well, this is an increase faster than in previous years. I believe that this will not stop here. bitcoin probably will reach a price of $ 1500, and then stabilized in a few months

Reaching 1500 is achievable for this year cuz year started we will finish February soon and we made progress in price, moving forward, in the end we all want that. Dont expect to see price goes down so much but this price you mentioned expect to see any time this year.
After seeing current rapid progress of bitcoin prices, I am expecting $2000 levels in very short term itself. I believe $1500 will be possible before end of March 2017 itself. Market volume witness enough investors even China got regulated heavily. With exponential price movements possibilities, I am very much sure fast climbing again about to happen.
Price increase rally already building the hype now on bitcoin which most bitcoin users are hoping on reaching on $2k price but on my own view its really high to consider since im just expecting on reaching out 1.4 on this year who knows if bitcoin would go over that point.
Today price made a new high of $1,111.76, presently it is at $1,100.13 at Coindesk. I gladly sold some bit of my coins just to take some profit and hopefully will buy more after a retracement and a signal to buy shows up.

Something very outstanding and going for Bitcoin is the fact that it is beyond the control of any government and so when any government tries to impose itself on it, we're seeing Bitcoin taking the hit and bouncing back in a short while. That is the exact scenario now playing out after the jolt in January, by the PBoC and for that, significant volume of trade have had to leave China for Japan. More or less like demonstrating Le Chatelier's principle holds true not only in Chemistry, but also in FinTech.

Quote
Le Châtelier's principle, chemical principle that states that if a system in equilibrium is disturbed by changes in determining factors, such as temperature, pressure, and concentration of components, the system will tend to shift its equilibrium position so as to counteract the effect of the disturbance

2359  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hedge funds gamble on Mt Gox bitcoin payout on: February 21, 2017, 08:18:19 AM
I'm surprised that they are able to recover anything, but this could be a positive for Bitcoin. It could be a sign to potential investors that even in scams or hacks, some coins can be recovered.

If this is recovered, people will massive dump bitcoin, when mtgox dead, the price was 400 usd, they have chance to dump at 1000 usd, and they will dump it.
Guess that entirely your opinion but dumping of Bitcoin is no longer all said and done, because as more and more people are embracing Bitcoin, its decentralized nature really comes to the fore. I tell you what will happen, some people would simply sell their coins and wait to buy again at lower prices and that is called profit taking and not dumping. Good coaches don't replace a winning team!

I agree that there might not be dumping. The people who will be reimbursed are the early adopters. Most people here would not even have known about bitcoin when Mt Gox collapsed. So there is a good chance that those people might hold on to their bitcoins.
Like you said, most of those people are early adopters and we can actually give it to them that they knew better. If they had faith in Bitcoin back then when the vision was yet hazy, there is not one reason they would look the other way now that Bitcoin is fast turning mainstream across the globe and a fabulous value it now have. I don't know of any  asset that was able to record up to a 100% increase in value in 2016, which was a feat Bitcoin accomplished and rearing to accomplish even more in this year, 2017 and in the years ahead. Take a look, Bitcoin is good news:  http://www.newsbtc.com/2017/01/01/2016-good-year-bitcoin/
