23521  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Circle Buying Limits? on: June 05, 2015, 07:11:28 PM
does anyone know how much one can get raised?  That is even lower than coinbase.  How do you guys buy thousands and tens of thousands of dollars of bitcoin then?
using crappy exchanges is not the way.
OTC services are better. houshold investors use localbitcoins, midlevel investors gain business relations and use bitcoin-otc. and large investors invest in bitcoin businesses and request bitcoin in return.

until exchanges start using military grade security and are of nasdaq quality (instead of basement dweller code) id avoid exchanges. examples of why you should stay away from the current generation of exchanges can be found in bitcoinica, intersango, mtgox, mintpal, cryptorush, etc
23522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I wanted to know!!!! on: June 05, 2015, 06:52:47 PM
advantages
1. no need to waste money making business plans just to convince a bank to give you a business account, and then pay fee's to add electronic payment systems... bitcoin can work with just a QR code on a piece of paper.. no need for banks or payment service providers

2. send funds across into any country without delay or fee's

3. sell products from your house, street market, website without card processing equipment.

4. no worries of chargebacks or non-payment. bitcoin is an electronic cheque, once signed and handed over the funds are yours guaranteed.

5. you can send someone $1billion or half a penny, without any difference to the method, time, hassle or hindrance

6. no need to store customer payment details for 6 years, no risk of identity theft or hacking to gain customer payment details.

7. you can be as public as you like by announcing which address represents your employee's wage receiving address, making it completely public. or keep it completely a secret where no one will know who or what the transactions are for

8. funds can be used as a public vote. set up 2 addresses, the one with most tx's received wins

many more advantages, but i got bored of typing
23523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to create a professional commercial for bitcoin --how do I go about it? on: June 05, 2015, 05:39:12 PM

firstly if your going to do a commercial where a mother sends a $ amount to her son..
.. well you might aswell be advertising western union or paypal.

you need to be more creative, and think more about bitcoin features and benefits. and be something unique that cant be confused by any current FIAT systems available..

I disagree, Western Union is not instant; it takes several days for money to transfer if I recall and they take a large fee on top of that. Can you receive money from someone in another country via PayPal and use that money to purchase something on the fly? This is showing someone requesting money, receiving it, and using it within a span of 10 mins or less.  But I agree, there will be other examples too, things that show how beneficial bitcoin is over the current fiat system. Imo, as far as transferring payments and using it for purchasing right away I think bitcoin is much more useful than PayPal, and certainly more useful than WU.

western union isnt several days.. and paypal is multinational.. if both cases were long and jurisdictionally limited then it would be easier and faster to post a visacard to someone to use at their local ATM.. the reason why people dont post prepaid cards abroad is because WU and PP are not slow.

i would be more inclined to not concentrate on transmission speed as the argument would be that the time to buy bitcoin before transmission would nigate any benefits of the transmission itself.

EG if i had $$ and i had the choice to credit a paypal account vs depositing into an exchange to buy bitcoins. paypal will win the speed race.

id concentrate on the no fee, free setup, no chargeback part. EG show a homeless guy with a paper QR code sat infront of him. showing that even the unbanked and poor can accept electronic payments without cost

yes.
he owns all them addresses.

however, the 1Bo5 address might be a deposit address of an exchange. and although the privkeys belong to the same wallet as the other addresses you listed..

the "ownership" of the funds may not be of the same person. as a person usually only has access to one deposit address and the other addresses are random addresses of other users of an exchange
23526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitnation's semi official space agency... on: June 05, 2015, 02:48:30 AM
You find the darndest things by chance. The Bitnation/Spacechain Space Agency is planning to send a balloon into the stratosphere and that's just the beginning of what they want to do. What do you guys think?
so, what is it going to do. i mean what is the relationship between bitcoin and sending a balloon into stratosphere? how are the two related.
they say they are doing "high-altitude balloon experiment" but doesn't say what the experiment is about or how is it related to bitcoin.

a person is wanting free bitcoins so that they can get rich and only need to buy a $200 balloon to satisfy the project.
we have seen many people doing money grabs suggesting it will require high amount of donations. whilst the actual costs of the projects proposed requirements is very small.

23527  Other / Meta / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto-ID discussion moved to "Altcoin". Is this Nazi-Deutschland?! on: June 04, 2015, 09:23:08 PM
and even this topic is not bitcoin related, but simply someone crying like a baby..

i think we should get this topic moved to off-topic..
23528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to Bitcoin year after 2140 ? on: June 04, 2015, 03:18:23 PM
I wonder what would happen to Bitcoin after the year 2140, while mining will end and the last block will be mined.
Are there will not remain Bitcoin ? Is the transaction will be possible ? or what ?
At least i will be dead  Undecided Undecided !!!!

in the year 2140 people will have technology smaller than a wristwatch that has internet connections to verify blocks.

miners wont do it for profit so farms would die out and instead it would be users of bitcoin doing it across the world purely to transact.
there would be no fee's and people would only do it as they want to keep bitcoin alive.
23529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: financial firms investigating bitcoin on: June 03, 2015, 10:11:59 PM
My neighbor is a financial manager. I told him about bitcoin years ago and he was like, Wha..?

Last week he told me that they are starting to hear from clients who want to hold a little bitcoin. He was still like, Huh?

Lol. People are still so clueless about BTC including on the financial world. You can't expect anything from people with classic mentalities. Warren Buffet is still stuck with Coke stocks and ignoring BTC because he has no idea.

you really think warren buffet hasnt bought bitcoins... hah
you can spot a savvy investor when he tries to tel others not to buy it.. its called avoiding competition. if he told everyone that its good, everyone would buy it and the price would spike and warrent will get pissy that he couldnt keep the price low.

and this can be plainly seen by anderson00673
"I wish they would hold off for a year publishing this stuff on major financial news networks to give me time to accumulate more."
23530  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitpay does not dump on exchanges on: June 03, 2015, 09:42:34 PM
The "investors" that they sell to, they can dump on exchanges, hedge ect. If they sold the coins they would need to
get a trading desk , a whole dept for selling the coins and not just "dump". imo

Yeah, at the end of the day people are going to end up doing whatever they want with their money. If they want to dump, they will dump. They don't dump, someone else will.
We shouldn't be worried about people dumping their coins, but about demand lowering. As long as there is demand, who cares if people dump.

It's all about the relation between the supply and the demand. But I agree with you, we should worry about decreasing demand. Now more and more people know about Bitcoin, we should experience an increase in demand (which increases the current value too). There will always be people selling or dumping their coins; there's no way to stop that. Increasing the demand for Bitcoin is the way to go.

nah.. the way to go is for people to stop blindly folowing the crappy exchanges that use php and mysql databases.. especially those coded by people under 25yo with no financial work experience prior to bitcoin.

many of the current "exchanges" seem flawed.. the amount of resistance (huge lumps(walls) of bitcoin) seems low. where just 20-200 bitcoin can make the price change dramatically.

when there are investors wanting to bite into $30mill worth of bitcoins. the last place they should visit is an exchange. and thus it should be the last place people use to value their coin.

exchanges these days are just for bots to mess around day trading. definitely not a place for serious investors who want to invest longterm
23531  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitpay does not dump on exchanges on: June 03, 2015, 09:04:23 PM
if bitpay does not dump its coins on exchanges what, exactly, does it do with them? horde?

lol it seems they do. They want to get all. Anyone knows how much bitcoins they hoarded so far? It has to be a lot.

no, no, no

they pay wages to their staff in bitcoin and they also have private OTC trades they do with investers and venture capitalists..

there was big news ages back that bitpay got 32million.. in exchange the investor gets bitcoins..

there are many many ways to swap bitcoin for fiat without using the exchanges. and its more suprising that the community are so transfixed on exchanges that they completely ignore the other ways..
23532  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitpay does not dump on exchanges on: June 03, 2015, 09:01:39 PM
This is actually quite interesting and surprising. As far as I recall I haven't seen anyone ever saying that they don't. It was a general idea that they were instantly converting and that it was pushing the price down.
They should have spoken out sooner. I'm going to assume that they don't really have people working there that are following this community (at least not closely).

This is actually why some people have been avoiding merchants that have been cooperating with Bitpay. There was also a list of merchants that do not exchange Bitcoin to fiat (I believe that it was in this very section).

i've been saying it for years.. its not been a secret at all
23533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will/Did you mention Bitcoin in your first date? on: June 03, 2015, 01:04:00 PM
It's extremely likely that mentioning Bitcoin on your first date would get you dumped faster than someone who talked about diesel engines on his first date. I'm sure most mechanics don't talk about diesel engines on their first dates, so why should we talk about Bitcoin unless we want to get dumped?

you are quite right. there have been topics similar to this in the past, where basement dwelling virgins think that it impresses girls.
its best to meander around the subject by saying your an investor (or your example) mechanic. rather then talking about decentralization (or in your case) the best mix of fuel and airflow of the engine.

and other advice to those virgin basement dwellers who want to know whats best for a first date..
the answer is listen to the girl and then reply by asking more details about what they are talking about. as it shows you are listening to her and interested in what she likes by talking about her topics..
never be an asshole by trying to impress her with math and science..
23534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will/Did you mention Bitcoin in your first date? on: June 03, 2015, 12:10:18 PM
only basement dwellers would talk about bitcoin on a first date

if you want to atleast meander around the edges.. just say your an international currency investor..
23535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you using less Bitcoin than you did last year? on: June 03, 2015, 10:25:02 AM
i love how people read articles but never check the source

transactions june 2014 = maximum 70k a day
transactions june 2015 = maximum 135k a day

so MORE transactions are happening compared to last year

23536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The question Gavin and Hearn cannot answer on: May 31, 2015, 03:40:03 PM
Bitcoin is supposed to be a global payment system and ready for big amount of transactions, you are basically saying 'i don't want bitcoin to succeed' gtfo man.

You CANNOT scale the worlds payments into the blockchain. You are delusional to think that all transactions will be hosted and mitigated via nodes. Increasing the blockchain size is NOT a solution. Its a fear patch!

no one with any connection to bitcoin code ever envisions bitcoin to handle every transaction of the world.
infact even in the VISA/mastercard market. they do not just have 1 database (ledger) they have dozens..

1 for dollar
1 for pounds
1 for yuan
etc etc

then if you divide up the fact that there are 4 major card companies, each with separate ledgers per currency then you will work out that the number of tx's per ledger is far less than advertised.

for instance if i wanted to buy something on amazon (from the UK) my tx wont be on the same ledger as you buying something from amazon from america, even if we both used a visacard.

uk payments and US payments get processed in different offices and end up in different visa owned bank accounts.

in short bitcoin does not need to cope with the worlds combined transactions. even if bitcoin has just 21million users (out of 7 billion) it will be a success.
23537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Blockstream the reason why 4 core developer won´t increase the blocksize? on: May 31, 2015, 03:30:09 PM
there are 3 theories of blockstream

1. it is its own ledger cloning bitcoin tx by tx with altcoins added to the same ledger to allow decentralized exchanging without a central server
(demythed because it will be centralized server based)

2. it is altering bitcoins own ledger to incorporate altcoins aswell

3. is is a mysql centralised server (much like cryptsy, btc-e and other exchanges)

the only way to expand bitcoin would be option 2 as the others are just meanderings waffles hidden behind the existent systems known as exchanges. so on the bases of expanding bitcoins own ledger rather than converting people to use a different ledger (blockstream). i see nothing beneficial that blockstream can offer that is not in existence today
23538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Blockstream the reason why 4 core developer won´t increase the blocksize? on: May 31, 2015, 03:16:39 PM
blockstream proposes to make a bitcoin with dozens of other altcoins joined to one ledger..

in short if you have bitcoin with 21mill limit and you join another ledger (fixed to it) the limit is now way more than 21mill available coins on that single ledger

... say goodby to the 21million cap of the single ledger..
.. say goodbye to rarity
.. say goodbye to the whole purpose of "bitcoin value"

oh and when adding 10altcoins to the ledger..
.. say hello to atleast a 10x drop in bitcoin value
.. say hello to lukejr, gmaxwll, wuille's premines causing a bigger drop after the rarity drop when they sell their premine
.. say hello to a <$1 bitcoin value
23539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The question Gavin and Hearn cannot answer on: May 31, 2015, 03:07:24 PM

Alright, we have less than 12 months.

Something tells me we have a full working solution via Blockstream/sidechains in less than 3 months. Can we at least WAIT to see what that does? If they still dont solve our problem, at least to some significant extend, I will switch side.

blockstream is not bitcoin.. its a totally new chain that not only mutes the argument of databloat as it not only has to handle 1chain, but multiple chains.. but alsois just profiting the sidechain owners who premine the hell out of it.

i would rather bitcoin continue with less data limits preventing expansions.. rather that having 20 different altcoins premined and attached to bitcoin so that greedy people like lukejr, gmaxwell and wuille can sell the premine for bitcoins..

imagine 20 altcoins all attached to one app. the databloat will exceed what gavin proposes, of just having bitcoin.. but it looks like you and hund have been sniffing the magicdust supplied by greedy people and ignored the benefits of just concentrating on a bitcoin only blockchain ledger.

blockstream would suddenly make bitcoins 21mill coin ledger limit become much much more. making bitcoin less rare due to the fact that people can hoard other crappy coins as part of the same app..

bitcoin needs to stay as a single ledger with only 21mill coins.. if people want alts.. buy them separately without ruining bitcoins ledger
23540  Economy / Economics / Re: Would any government allow foreign currency to circulate in domestic economy? on: May 31, 2015, 02:53:01 PM
