2361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin transaction monitoring...something like bitcoinmonitor..net? on: December 21, 2012, 04:28:35 PM
AFAIK no one's done it yet.

There block explorer's here if you want to make a script using it: http://explorer.litecoin.net/
And the API is also detailed.

Or you can use ABE yourself and do so.

That's true.  I mostly created this as a troll thread but then it turned into a big debate.
2363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to switch on litecoin. BITCOIN IS DEAD for normal miner on: December 21, 2012, 04:16:22 PM
Who is even keeping litecoin alive? Why are people buying it at btc-e?

I am, and so are the estimated 2200+ GPUs mining on the network.  I've been mining since release over a year ago and been making nothing but money.

I predicted the difficulty coaster attack to litecoin as well, but oddly it doesn't seem to affect the currency as I had thought it might.  The result seems to be that whoever is mining on the low difficulty periods is dumping quickly, but whoever is mining on the high difficulty periods is hardly dumping at all, so the price has been maintained stable.

The hash rate of the network is also slowly going up on the high difficulty periods.

You're the poster boy for LTC. LTC won't ever be worth anything because the only people using it are people like you.  BTC has the industrious, the inventive, the people who know how to work.  LTC is full of people like you. Scammers.
Yes, the BTC community is full of incredibly reliable and honest people like Pirate@40, Zhou Tong, Butterfly Labs, and Taaki to name a few...  And services such as Silk Road.
2364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PPC] Who bought almost 500k PPC today!?! on: December 21, 2012, 03:46:18 PM
Dump all the ppc

It's possible someone else figured out the attack too and has bought that many coins to abuse the proof of stake implementation and generate another bajillion coins.
2365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ppcoin - stake burn-through vulnerability on: December 21, 2012, 03:44:00 PM
Figured this would happen eventually.

2367  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Network Hash Rate Begins Massive Tank on: December 20, 2012, 10:16:19 PM
Litecoin is being difficulty coastered right now by a large BTC miner who mines and dumps every other difficulty period.  It's inevitable with a 3.5 day retarget.

In other news it looks like I was right, we're looking at a -13% difficulty decrease right now which will put us below 3M.

Hmm, what is this 'golden nonce' ?

I think if you catch the golden nonce, it's worth 150 points and the match is over.

2369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Stratum support for scrypt mining has been added for cgminer/reaper on: December 20, 2012, 04:05:33 PM
Isn't poolserverj the backend for ltcmine.ru?  Unless I'm mistaken
2370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] Stratum support for scrypt mining has been added for cgminer/reaper on: December 20, 2012, 04:36:25 AM
Stratum mining allows LTC pools to achieve less than 0.5% stales.  The only current pool to implement it is ltcmine.ru.  If you check out their list of miners there, you will see that many are mining with quantities of stales as low as 0.2%.

Latest version of cgminer to support it is 2.10.2
The reaper version that supports stratum is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92522.msg1372243#msg1372243

I think as a community we work on getting stratum support for more pools, so that you guys pool mining all get more litecoin.  Currently, PoolServerJ supports both litecoin mining and stratum.

thanks for the fix!!
2372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poor Radeon HD6950 Litecoin mining performance, need help. on: December 19, 2012, 03:44:45 PM
installing 12.11 beta drivers seems to have fixed it

I'll try this later today and let you know...thanks!

No time to play about with linux for the first time, till the new year Sad

Yup, don't forget to delete all the old binaries for cgminer (.bin files)

I'm using cgminer 2.8.7 and getting 500 kh/s now on my 6970, thread-concurrency 8000
2373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Practical System for FPGA Litecoin Mining? on: December 18, 2012, 11:05:43 PM
But it's a start. Besides, if it's NEON optimized, I don't see what's stopping it to being as fast as a good processor, and if the price is cheap then you could stock up on some and mine LTC decently.

The quadcore A9s only gets between 2-4kh/s if I remember right, the NEON miner is energy efficient (~2x more than video cards) because it uses the on-die L2 cache but the chips are so expensive that it's pointless.

Also you might hit that efficiency if you way undervolt GPUs too, I haven't really tried but I wouldn't be surprised.

tbh i'd rather fix the problem, since i doubt i'll be the last person to encounter it.
2376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poor Radeon HD6950 Litecoin mining performance, need help. on: December 18, 2012, 07:42:20 PM
Amazing, even after 12.10 uninstall and driver sweeper and 12.6 reinstall, everything is still fucked up.  I'll keep messing with it I guess.

maybe $0.03 USD

including a 2Gbit/s (peak) RAM-like bus
Compare to 250 Gbit/s bus from a video and you have a recipe for some slow litecoin mining
2379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poor Radeon HD6950 Litecoin mining performance, need help. on: December 18, 2012, 06:16:13 PM
I'm having this problem too now after updating my driver to 12.10.  Try 12.6 and 12.8 catalyst drivers.

edit: going back to 12.8 doesn't fix it for me... something is really broken.
2380  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overc monit fanspd RPC stratum linux/windws/osx/mip/r-pi 2.10.1 on: December 18, 2012, 05:53:34 PM
The first stratum pool is available for scrypt:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92522.0

Can you please add support?  I don't know if that just involves removing the return false from detect_stratum in cgminer.c

Also, did you do anything weird to the kernel?  I lost 35% of my hash rate going to 2.10.1 from 2.8.7 with a 6970

edit: rolled back to 2.8.7 and I'm still getting weird rates -- I guess something is wrong with the 12.10 display driver or something
