2361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin offline wallet suggestion on: May 07, 2020, 06:46:53 PM
We do not even know certainly if Satoshi still owns any Bitcoin, if any of the old high-balance BTC addresses were/are his .. or if he's even alive anymore. but the best guess would be that Satoshi has used Bitcoin Core.

There are lots of options out there and your question is very nice in my opinion. Well done for looking for wallets without any third parties involved! Smiley

My personal suggestions are: Electrum for PC, Mycelium/Electrum for Mobile or, the best one of all, Hardware Wallets (I personally have a Ledger).

There is no safe wallet out there if you do not use them the right way though. Although hardware wallets made me feel the safest, they aren't if you do not take care of the basic but crucial steps such as paying attention to the transaction details, making sure the shown address is correct etc.

By "offline" usage I believe you are talking about airgapping a computer/phone in order to complete transactions on it completely offline. Again, this is NOT a no-risk zone. Don't you think that by airgapping a PC you'd be 100% safe!

If you would like to use an airgapped PC, you could go for Electrum. Here is a very quick tutorial on how to set up your Electrum wallet for this matter.

If you are quite new to Bitcoin, which I assume you are, I highly recommend you to first transfer $5-10 to the wallet and test all wallet functions out to avoid large losses. Once you get used to the wallet, go ahead and store your little pieces of the Crypto King in it. One more friendly advice: don't give anyone your master seed/mnemonic phrase/private key(s) and better triple-check an address or the details of a transaction than be sorry. You might waste a minute on checking if the transaction details are correct, but maybe you're going to prevent the loss of significant amounts. Smiley
2362  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Halving about to make a major move? on: May 07, 2020, 03:21:41 PM
Well, it looks like there's quite a lot of positivity out there. As soon as this positivity isn't going to turn into silence in a matter of weeks, it could turn BTC into a monster. If everyone goes silent soon after the halving, get ready for nothing.

Just stay still and hope a 2015 crypto-doomsday like scenario isn't getting ready for us and everything will be fine. Price will move according to what we do with BTC and if the FOMO continues, it's going to be a positive movement.
2363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ledger Fake Site/s - Seed stealers! on: May 07, 2020, 02:42:55 PM
~
Last time I looked up "Ledger" on Google I saw 2 different fake Ledger website ads. The fact that the only difference between legit search results and ads is that "AD" little text next to the ads makes it an even higher possibility to click them. How come do we never see fake YT or Amazon links over there while crypto scams are advertised intensely and easily? Cheesy

No wonder Ripple is suing YT over identity theft scams. It probably takes a large lawsuit before Google finally decides to stop supporting thieves because that's what they're basically doing. Smiley
2364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin price history and the expected events in the coming halving on: May 07, 2020, 01:37:48 PM
First halving - 99x increase
Second halving - 33x increase aka 1/3
Third halving - 1x increase ? Cheesy

Could be that way, specially with current situation in the world. I would love if bitcoin makes at least 2x after halving, but that will be "close" to ATH, which was reached when bitcoin was on hype. Is bitcoin today on hype ? No ! That is why I don't expect the price to go high aggressively. But I assume price could go 20-30% up.
If you want to bet on the fact that the price will move exactly the same way it did in the past 2 halvings, then it'd be 11x this time - not 1x. That goes around my opinion that I foresee a max price of ~100k. Price went up & down 20-30% in the past few months already, that isn't a weird move for BTC. It's volatile, less than it used to be but it still is.

Never took fiat to compare its inflation with BTC's. Very interesting point there. So from your personal perspective, do you expect BTC to go wild once people start realizing that its inflation is going down?
2365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy or sell coin and kyc on: May 07, 2020, 07:12:35 AM
Thank you for your suggestions friends. I read all. You clarify me many things. I think I will use https://localcryptos.com/  to buy 1eth first. Crypto is a larger world than I thought.
You said about Bitcoin Atm. I didn't know it yet. It sounds interesting. I'm going to explore it now.
I never tried out localcryptos or other platforms to buy crypto off with fiat, but I've used lots of different ATMs. Make sure your closest ATM does not have KYC (or maybe it has a certain limit you can deposit without KYC - check their terms & conditions or call their number to find out) and also make sure it's open now that most businesses are closed.

If you can find one nearby, I suggest you to try it out at least once. Feels much safer imo and you don't have to work with banks to get your cryptos, so as long as there's no KYC.. risks are little. Smiley
2366  Economy / Gambling / Re: My urge to go to land base casino in this lock down and how I fight it. on: May 07, 2020, 06:33:34 AM
Well, even without diversion I believe there wasn't much you could do besides crying out loud that casinos are closed. Cheesy Never had a strong physical addiction to casinos, but I get the idea. I think it's better in the end and you should seek the positive side: if we were to have casinos still up and running right now, you'd be sitting there throwing your money away during some hard times. Maybe it was some kind of sign from the Universe for you to stop Tongue
2367  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin price history and the expected events in the coming halving on: May 07, 2020, 06:11:31 AM
I also don't think a 33x or 99x increase is likely. It'd turn BTC into a million bucks which is too much and could damage the markets actually for some time.

If there's a rise I'm expecting, it'd probably be a 5-15x increase making BTC worth maximum a hundred grand. But still, it's uncertain and there's always a possibility that things go wrong. My best advice is: if you can take the risk and are willing to, do it. If you're looking for large profits, be careful. You never know when a risky investment goes wrong due to simple reasons such as wrong timing.
2368  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Cele 5 monezi ale lui Teeka Tiwari on: May 07, 2020, 05:51:51 AM

Smiley
2369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if every miner but 1 CPU stopped mining for 4 weeks? on: May 06, 2020, 07:31:27 PM
Although it is unrealistic I was curious what would happen to bitcoins mining algorithm and hash rate.

As you said, I don't know how meaningful it is to comment on an unrealistic topic. At worst, however, the difficulty level is adjusted within the next 14 days and mining continues.
It's not changing based on a number of days but on the number of mined blocks (as mentioned above).

It'd be a hell of a time for other Bitcoin users as only 1 CPU has to do the job all the miners in the world were doing before, so it's going to take a long time before the set of another 2016 blocks is mined - which would indirectly rise the number of active miners as the Bitcoin network, my logical thinking tells me, would get clogged.. resulting in our transactions being stuck, so Bitcoin becoming unusable until difficulty gets adjusted.

If Bitcoin ever reaches the point where only 1 CPU in this entire world is mining, I think there are way more things we have to be concerned about! Cheesy Wouldn't the network be exposed to 51% attacks as soon as the difficulty is adjusted? Wouldn't only 1 miner in the world mean nobody cares about BTC anymore (or you're living in a post-apocalyptic scenario)?
2370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First 6.25 bitcoin block on: May 06, 2020, 07:18:17 PM
1. Would this block be worth any more than other blocks?
Virgin blocks may be worth more to certain people and could this BTC have any premium ?

newly mined coins IF sold over the counter to SPECIAL buyers had always have a slightly higher value than normal because it is OTC trade which is always more expensive and it is obviously "fresh".
logically the reward of said block has no additional value to it compared to any other coins in circulation (bitcoin is fungible) but i have seen enough crazy things in my life to believe that there may be some crazy people who would pay higher amount of money for things like that!!!

How would that work though? How do you give a block to someone? Or is it done just by transferring the 6.25BTC to the buyer/giving them the key to it?

It makes no logical sense to me Cheesy
2371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig wright found to have plagiarized his PhD-not really a doctor of anything on: May 06, 2020, 06:42:42 PM
This guy never seizes to amaze me. Tbh, I respect his perseverance, there's not so many people capable of pulling all this sht off for such a long time

The only reason CSW succeeded with his lies is because of newcomers hoping to get a second BTC pump chance with BSV. It did have a pretty amazing pump a few months ago, but it was probably artificial.

If there were no "investors" out there hoping for him to finally say a non-lie for the first time ever and prove his identity of the supposedly status as "the creator of Bitcoin" which is a blatant lie and an insult to Satoshi, we would've probably seen BSV among the last few pages of cryptocurrencies out there.

2374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wagering More or Wagering Less on: May 06, 2020, 02:17:26 PM
I will post my history of playing slots since one month and few days now.No matter if you wager more or less the result are the same and are irrelevant of your betting if you play for a short time.If you play longer lengthy sessions in slot machines by wagering more you have the chance to hit the jackpot and in order to keep you entertained probably the slot will give the bonus feature more often than when you wager less.
I have a feeling that the more you play, the more you wager -> the more you lose. Cheesy

Entertainment takes your attention from losing money & wagering away. The best thing one casino can do is make you feel lots of fun, as you'll be tempted to stay there and keep playing. I've had +5hr-long sessions and yet I lost. I don't understand why some people believe there exists a strategy to win, it's all about being lucky with a lil' dust of placebo on it Cheesy
2375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Old (2013) video on Bitcoin by news media on: May 06, 2020, 01:17:46 PM
Sounds both good and bad when you say "old video (2013)", I feel old but semi-OG at the same time Cheesy Those were very exciting times to be honest, I turned from a newbie who had no idea what cryptocurrency even means into a BTC fanboy in a matter of hours. Although today it is more adopted than it was back then, I still believe 2012-2016 were the largest boost Bitcoin had when it comes to adoption, price, number of wallets/investors/hodlers, mining rigs and whatever else you will.

I am just not sure if similar times are coming in the next few years - maybe only if something truly revolutionary happens or suddenly lots of people decide to take their financial freedom back. Anyways, with all these ups and downs it's been so far probably one of if not the most fascinating timeline of my life Smiley
2376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee says he received call from Satoshi Nakamoto asking not to be reveal on: May 06, 2020, 11:37:36 AM
Whoever has been through 2017 knows that McAfee is not a man to put your trust into. The way he used his own influence to his advantage was a crappy move and proved me that he's all about pumping & dumping his allegedly "coins of the future", which I am more than sure were actually the list of coins he was holding. Smiley

Calling coins what they aren't (saying a shitcoin is a privacy coin when in fact it never was one), using your tweets to do monstrous P&D schemes, (allegedly) asking coin founders to send him X BTC for him to shout it out (don't know if it's a confirmed fact but I do remember screenshots flying around everywhere of him doing this). Now that CSW isn't a hot topic on BTCTalk anymore, will McAfee be the new CSW? Cheesy
2377  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Cele 5 monezi ale lui Teeka Tiwari on: May 06, 2020, 11:27:21 AM

Smiley

Am observat insa ceva interesant: am adunat per total cati bani am pus in alts si cati bani am pus in BTC.

Cheesy

~
Prefer valoare mult crescuta si adoptie in masa a monedei in detrimentul anonimitatii (care oricum inca este o optiune, chiar si fara sa schimbi in monero).
~

Bitcoin + third parties =/= Bitcoin!

~
Lumea se va educa in momentul in care bitcoin se va aprecia si vor vedea o oportunitate de a face bani daca inteleg cum functioneaza reteaua.
~

Ai sa vezi acest lucru in viitor. Apreciez pe oricine deschide o afacere in domeniul crypto si incearca sa faca ceva, sa aduca adoptia mai aproape de real decat de ideal, insa din pacate ai sa observi si tu in timp ca am dreptate. Decentralizarea, anonimitatea vor ramane doar idei, doar idealuri.. la fel cum si astazi, dupa cum bine observi, drepturile noastre reprezinta doar niste idei.

Furthermore Jordan also admitted his love for blackjack, but it isn’t clear if he visited any online casinos to play blackjack or no, but what do you’ll think is there a possibility that he visits online crypto casinos to play blackjack as a hidden user?.
~
Why wouldn't he? It's online, nobody knows who you are and you play with other complete strangers without having paparazzi all over you.

As a celebrity, intimacy is probably something you drool for - this brings not only privacy of his true identity but also connects him to others from around the world and is able to do and say normal stuff without having the fear of being judged for it. If I was a celebrity, I'd do it. Especially as lots of people tend to judge you over your casino habits & enjoyment.

Am mai facut trade-uri ici-colo asa, de distractie si pentru a-mi mai inmulti putin suma in final, dar in rest BTC-ul meu e de neatins momentan. Cheesy
