Some people were talking about Freicoin and I decided to check it out, what, this coin is old? Interesting! Development has happened again, right? What about Freiexchange, what does that have to do with it?

freicoin has been around since the early occupy-bitcoin days ~ i bought a few for old times sake Smiley weee

The answer is in the photo.All you needed to do was just quote it to see where it came from.The founders of blockstream had a project just before they went and found blockstream bringing forth ideas such as segwit and LN.The answer is Freicoin.

Nice try, 🐀.

I’d buy some Freicoin here at ~70 sats, I think it’s gonna get a big pump soon.  But no, freicoin isn’t it.

FREICOIN will skyrocket soon Wink weee

Well, the whole Obelisk Sc-1 thing may pretty much be moot and a wash..this is what I get 1 month before the units supposedly ship...

This is your problem:

https://bitsonline.com/dragonmint-b52-blake2b-siacoin-miner/

that complicates it ..but generally...IF there is not a robust network for sia's vision in place to use these ASIC's then they will also be in a bad place

just a month or so behind...I just see no action on how they plan to compete against Amazon on their decentralized 10c to $1 Amazon giant....

deafening silence...thus looks to me like a crap load of ASIC's will hit...w/o any real purpose...and the price will tank also if their vision is 'postponed' or not

in place for the 'glut' as you point out of hash hitting on blake2b

you can't have it both ways...if price now is due to scarcity and also the anticipation of their vision..and the major investment of $$$  that people speculated

on with the ASIC's too boot...well it is step up of fail

or how I see it

on the other hand for what you paid for one of these puppies and what I paid for obelisks' last year with high priced BTC...as far as just holding crypto

wise we probably are even....just from that timing situation and last years price

i talked to one of the sia devs in europe for like 3 hours yesterday ~ we share the frustration with the current situation >> the aim is science whereas miners are trying to pay their bills instantly...we will have new updates inkoming * Wink  #BTI #SIACOIN #SIABERRIES

I will also agree on the $100 to come very quickly as soon as market's see reverse trend. It is still early to define the mood of market movers but overall we can consider this floor as safe buying. Total market capitalization has reached at bottom apparently. If downtrend continues this was not last longer as markets need to build confidence and for that rebounding becomes necessary.
All top altcoins will rally significantly in the next few days.
I don't see probability to see them fall further below current low prices.
And, bitcoin will have big odds to rise after dramatic falls.

Long-term opportunities are looking awesome. Price is extremely low compared to Winter pump. Bittrex/Poloniex could create a best liquidity in future.

Bittrex and Ploniex are not even in top 25 exchanges currently....huge drop compared to just 1 year ago

I guess mostly because less wash trade than  some in top 25, but still...

It's shocking how they lost their leading positions. Volume on Poloniex dropped like a rock and I didn't expect that Bittrex will also go down so hard.
dude don't waste your time with this coin...  bunch of cheaters with their wack announcement that they could've of have done during hardwork...  look at the graph.. dump and   pump coin nothing more. this dev team is shit.. they hyped up the whole thing.

I wasn't even referring to Einsteinium with my post. I was talking about Polo and Bittrex in general and how they lost their leading positions.

ya that's the unfortunate truth now no one trusts any of these exchanges where coins go missing + coinmarketcap sites are also bogus~~~ ...now where to pump our coins? :\ hmmm

Wouldn't Yobit be the right place for you if you like fake pumps and stuff like that? I think it's good if exchanges become more serious businesses these days.

yobit can be good sometimes but they are known to lock wallets and fork coins to their own profit...it's the graveyard of crypto, coin burial grounds lol  =)

2394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 25, 2018, 05:02:40 AM
For over 48 hours Monero is moving contrary to the entire alt-coin landscape.  NOTHING else is holding up through this storm.  Coins are down 3-12% on the day, and XMR is up 5%.

Something is undoubtedly going on here...  What is it?

Either some serious news is coming, or there is buy pressure from funds coming in post exchange hack, or something?

I just don't think "Monero is a good project" explains these circumstances.

Mind you... I am not complaining. Smiley

unexpected.  Totally acceptable  Cool

Of course, I didn't expect 0.017 either...

people are saying XMR will pump...why don't it go up to $1000 then? :\ makes no sense imo*

Doesn't make any sense to sell now even if its headed to sub $4k.
I don't totally agree with this, obviously.
But good luck.

Funny story. I was mumbling to Rick just earlier today about "Well, if we're in a fucking bear market, maybe I should sell some Corn and re-buy when it goes lower."

Price was dropping down to $5,800 when I grumbled that.

Rick's all like "Fuck that man. You're retired. Your stack is too high. Don't risk it."

I shit you not.

30 minutes later, big-ass spike back above $6k.

You can all thank Rick for me not doing something stupid, like taking a dump, I guess.

2396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: not even a scam on: June 24, 2018, 07:30:41 PM
I have a great idea for a business. I'll invite people to send me money. For every dollar they send me, I'll send them a receipt saying "Thanks for sending me your dollar. You can have your dollar back whenever you like subject to the following condition: you don't really have any right to have it back. And I promise I'll put it in my bank account and keep it there until I decide not to anymore." And people could use my thank-you notes as money!

Would this be a scam? No it wouldn't. A scam is, by definition, a deception; a scheme based on dishonesty and fraud, and I'm being completely candid about my intentions.

From the Tether FAQ:

Quote from: https://tether.to/faq (fair use applies)
How do I know my Tether is secure?

Tether is built on top of the revolutionary and cryptographically secure open blockchain technology and adheres to strict security and global government laws and regulations.

All tethers are pegged at one-to-one with matching fiat currency (e.g., 1 USD₮ = 1 USD) and are backed 100% by actual assets in our reserve account. As a fully transparent company, we publish a real-time record of all value held and transferred in and out of our reserve account.

Tethers can be securely stored, sent and received across the blockchain and are redeemable for cash (the underlying asset) pursuant to Tether Limited’s terms of service.

And here are the terms of service as they relate to the redeemability of Tethers:

Quote from: https://tether.to/legal (fair use applies)
3. Purchase and Redemption of Tethers: The Site is an environment for the purchase and redemption of Tethers. Once you have Tethers, you can trade them, keep them, or use them to pay persons that will accept your Tethers. However, Tethers are not money and are not monetary instruments. They are also not stored value or currency.

There is no contractual right or other right or legal claim against us to redeem or exchange your Tethers for money. We do not guarantee any right of redemption or exchange of Tethers by us for money. There is no guarantee against losses when you buy, trade, sell, or redeem Tethers.

So Tethers are redeemable subject to the condition that they're not. No deception here. There is a fully transparent company for you.

Also from the terms of service:

Quote from: https://tether.to/legal (fair use applies)
Limitation of Liability & Release: Important: Except as may be provided for in these Terms of Service, we assume no liability or responsibility for and shall have no liability or responsibility for any claim, application, loss, injury, delay, accident, cost, business interruption costs, or any other expenses (including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees or the costs of any claim or suit), nor for any incidental, direct, indirect, general, special, punitive, exemplary, or consequential damages, loss of goodwill or business profits, work stoppage, data loss, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial losses (collectively, referred to herein as “Losses”) directly or indirectly arising out of or related to:
   1.   these Terms of Service;
   2.   the Site, and your use of it;
   3.   the Services, and your use of any of them;
   4.   the real or perceived value of any Tethers or of digital tokens, money, or any other property used to purchase Tethers;
   5.   any failure, delay, malfunction, interruption, or decision by us in operating the Site or providing any Service;
   6.   any stolen, lost, or unauthorized use of your account information any breach of security or data breach related to your account information; or
   7.   any offer, representation, suggestion, statement, or claim made about us, the Site, or any Service by any Associate.
You hereby agree to release the Associates from liability for any and all Losses, and you shall indemnify and save and hold the Associates harmless from and against all Losses. The foregoing limitations of liability shall apply whether the alleged liability or Losses are based on contract, negligence, tort, unjust enrichment, strict liability, or any other basis, even if the Associates have been advised of or should have known of the possibility of such losses and damages, and without regard to the success or effectiveness of any other remedies.

This is obviously very well thought out! According to #4, if you "perceive" that Tethers are worth something, and they aren't, you have no recourse.  Under #5, whatever it is that Tether does, if they suddenly stop doing it, you have no recourse. And under #7, if someone from Tether told you that Tethers are worth something, and they aren't -- no recourse. Unjust enrichment? No recourse!

If Tether management decides to close up shop tomorrow and leave with the all the money, it wouldn't violate the terms of service. It's all there in black and white - no deception there!

Could the fact that Tethers are trading somewhere close to par have anything to do with the fact that some people "perceive" (see 11.4 above) that Tethers have an intrinsic value or are redeemable? Could it have anything to do with the possibility that some people "perceive" that Tether's reserves are committed to redeeming Tethers or supporting the value of Tethers? If anyone "perceives" that, it's their own fault, not Tether's!

Here's my idea again.

Maybe not. Nobody would do that. It would be stupid.

WHEN FAUCET? =) WEEEEE

2398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Freicoin: demurrage crypto-currency from the Occupy movement (crowdfund) on: June 24, 2018, 06:21:27 PM
One question.

Lets imagine there is a coin where each year each wallet lose 1% of all coins. There are 100 coins and each coin value is 99 dollars, so the market cap is 9900 dollars.

At the end of the year everyone will lose 1%, the means the amount of coins will go to 100 to 99, and the market cap will continue the same 9900, this means  the value of each coin is now 100 dollars.

If you had 10 coins worth 99 dollars, you had 990 dollars worth of coins, at the end of year if you didnt spend the money you will have 9.9 coins * 100 dollars = 990 dollars too.

As you see at the example the guy didnt lost any wealth by not speinding his coins, so the question is: how someone lose wealth from demurrage?

The only ones that would lose wealth are the ones that lose coins by rounding down during the demurrage process.

The money supply does not go down in Freicoin. What is taken as the demurrage fee is currently all paid to the miners.

Of course it goes down.Thats what demurrage is.Anyone who holds freicoin in their wallet would know this.

The total coin supply remains the same. What is destroyed from users wallets is regenerated in block reward and pays miners.

Yes I understand that but what the previous poster was referring to is the fact his net worth id depreciated through the demurrage process and this is the point which stands.If you buy and hold freicoin you lose through a form of taxation on your balance.Its no better than inflation and deincentivises any speculation in freicoin hence the price will never go anywhere.Traders will always steer clear of this one.

/\FRC is a good coin that has stood the test of time for many years~ i'm buying Smiley  ===///^^^ freicoin to da moooooon!!!

Yes I agree.It is a good concept for a non speculative economic ecosystem but a terrible coin to hold solely on the demurrage extracted from coins on your wallet's balance.It would make more sense to hold them on the exchange and let the exchange take the hit instead but what large bagholder is prepared to hold hundreds of thousands of coins on a 3rd party exchange.

I agree also that both main developers are in the top of this game and am surprised they haven't scrapped this demurrage nonsense so the price can accelerate hard but in a sustainable manner.

https://freiexchange.com is a good exchange with competent developers ~ if they make FRC a way to pay to list new coins that would be a great pumping point* Wink weeee
