2382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptsy To Begin USD Verification Next Week on: May 11, 2014, 01:50:55 AM
A new message was posted today inside the dashboard of account holders of Cryptsy.com, the popular Florida-based altcoin exchange.

This is the first time that Cryptsy officials have committed to a specific date for initiating the verification process. The message, which appears when users navigate to any of the USD trading pairs, reads, “This market is for Verified Accounts Only. The User Verifications system will open on 5/13/2014.”

While Bitcoin has dozens of services, ATMs, and exchanges, where users can purchase the digital money, the choices for consumers wishing to invest in altcoins has been limited. For the most part, these investors have been forced to visit one of the many bitcoin services to buy bitcoin, and then transfer those bitcoins to Cryptsy where they could exchange them to buy any number of 150 cryptocurrencies.

2383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investigation Complete of Instamines and Fastmines for almost every top alt coin on: May 10, 2014, 03:12:29 AM
It's not just that someone/some people could be holding massive amounts of goldcoin. You don't want to support that kind of coin if they are going to call that coin generation plan "fair".

The biggest problem I have with your article is that you don't present both sides of the argument and continue to omit facts that have now been brought to your attention. Yes, the original developer made some mistakes and has long ago left the project.

But I think we have a pretty good track record since I first became involved in June 2013. And I don't think you have presented any compelling evidence to support your claims that investors are at risk from early miners dumping. That time has long since passed.
2384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investigation Complete of Instamines and Fastmines for almost every top alt coin on: May 10, 2014, 02:46:39 AM
Are you hoping people don't actually click your link or something?

Here is what is presented in your link as "proof" Goldcoin was not instamined.

Quote
Block 0: 50 coins (Genesis block)
Block 1 - 200: 10000 coins (initial liquidity, a lot of this was given out in bounties/freebies)
Block 201-2200: 1000 coins (A lot of these were mined by various bitcoin talk forum members)
Block 2201-44999: 500 coins (These were mined over a period of ~2 months!) (Total of 21,399,000 COINS!)
Block  45000-Current: ~45 coins (actual formula is (int64)(50.0/(1.1 + 0.49*((nHeight-45000)/262800))))

the following are timestamps from the gld coin blockchain...

block 1   05-15 00:48:56

block 2200 05-15 10:54:43

block 11250 05-16 00:43:30

200 x 10,000 = 2,000,000 coins created

2000 ( 2200-200) blocks x 1,000 = 2,000,000 coins created...

9050 (11250-2200) blocks x 500 = 4,525,000 coins created...

that equals 8,525,000 GLD coins created in 24 hours. Exactly what my analysis showed. 8.5 million of 31 million available? instamine. major instamine.

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORTING INFORMATION.

No. What I take issue with is your statement that the coin was "not fairly distributed" when the facts indicate otherwise.

Also, with the coin now 12 months old and trading at less than 10% of its Dec 2013 high, your assertion that someone with a large amount of coins could "completely crash your investment" is less than genuine at best.

Happy birthday Goldcoin!

Goldcoin will be celebrating her first birthday in 5 days on May 14th. This is an exciting milestone in the currency's history.
2386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Foundation Must Remove Satoshi as Founder on: May 09, 2014, 07:44:43 PM
Satoshi stopped speaking about 3 years ago and has said nothing save for "I am not Dorian". He said that because an innocent man's life might have been in danger therefore he probably judges that it is right for him to speak in regards to this very exceptional and unusual circumstance.

This is conjecture. I think it's also possible that it was actually Dorian posting to divert attention from himself.
2387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are there too many altcoins? on: May 09, 2014, 04:32:15 AM
What do you guys think? I'm personally sick of this bullshit.

The free market will prevail and the cream will eventually rise to the top. IMO
2388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pump and Dump on: May 09, 2014, 04:19:11 AM
Hi, I know that pumping and dumping is illegal, so how do i avoid it? If I buy a few coins and a few days later they rise up and then i sell them when they are up, is that considered pumping and dumping?

Day trading is risky and unpredictable.

I think the best strategy is to find a coin you believe in and hold for the long term as you work to advance the coin.
2389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If Andreas Antonopoulos thought an altcoin was "fascinating", would you listen? on: May 08, 2014, 05:36:46 AM
I suspect that I already know his answer, but yes it would be interesting to have confirmation.
2390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investigation Complete of Instamines and Fastmines for almost every top alt coin on: May 08, 2014, 04:19:26 AM

Obviously, since you are apparently 'clueless' to the coin's comprehensive history.

2391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are at the Moment the Best 5 Coins? on: May 08, 2014, 04:13:00 AM
BTC-LTC-DOGE-NMC-PPC

in that order

That's actually pretty good. But NMC and PPC are not brandable names and I think by 2015 things will shake out more like this:

BTC-GLD-DOGE-LTC-FTC

in that order

This "information" reads more like the retarded edition of a random Columbo investigation.

Satoshi's still around. He's just working on another coin at the moment.
2395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC - 50% wiped of its value in 3 months on: May 06, 2014, 06:13:49 AM
Is now the time to but or get the hell out as quick as you can ?

Got to love playing the markets haven't you, Im seriously thinking of buying, what do you all think ?

Cheers
Mark

Litecoin is like a lot of other coins, it's down and down hard.

The next phase of growth will come from coins with the hardest working communities. To me, that looks like Dogecoin at the moment.
2396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are at the Moment the Best 5 Coins? on: May 05, 2014, 02:27:50 PM

Here are the top four for 2015 (no particular order):

Bitcoin (BTC)

- The one that started it all. What more is there to say?

Goldcoin (GLD)

 - Most marketable name, brilliant developer, multi-coin wallet.

Dogecoin (DOGE)

- Most organized and active community. Wide consumer appeal.

Litecoin (LTC)

- Original scrypt coin. Friends in high places. Excellent developers.
2397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So Ripple is becoming mainstream, where are the other alts? on: May 05, 2014, 02:16:28 PM
Isn't ripple centralised?

Yes. Ripple is centralized and completely controlled by a single organization. Basically, it's like an anti-bitcoin network.

2398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which should I mine? on: May 05, 2014, 10:49:37 AM
Hi, which coin should I mine on my HD 7850?

The price of Goldcoin (GLD) is getting ready to rise significantly so that would be my suggestion.
2399  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crossed 500 USD - Bull Market returns ? on: May 05, 2014, 04:02:11 AM
Good days will come back. Grin

I think the next big runs will be coming from the altcoin sector. IMO.
2400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does no one else think Doge is a great 48-72 hour trade on: May 05, 2014, 03:39:00 AM
If you look back over history, the greatest successes in cryptocurrency have come from early adopters holding over the long-term.

I think 2 or 3 years down the road Dogecoin (DOGE) and Goldcoin (GLD) will be atop the marketcap leader-boards. But what will happen in the next 72 hours is anybody's guess.
