241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallets on older iphones are insecure on: September 30, 2019, 04:32:22 AM
It always surprises me how willing people are to place their entire lives on their phones in a way no one would ever have dreamed of a generation ago. Even worse, most phone manufacturers will abandon you security wise after a year or so. There are people running around with truly ancient devices with gaping holes.

It is only business. You are required by the vendor to upgrade your hardware to run the updated software. I reckon the solution would be to create opensource hardware and software devices where the community can continue its maintenance and security updates.
This is a bad business. The planned obsolescence tactics help maintain sales in a saturated market, but I don’t want to change my smartphone every year, simply because the manufacturer is too concerned about its financial performance. This is a serious problem that goes beyond the scope of this topic.

~

Smiley
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we really have fast transactions like the XRP? on: September 30, 2019, 03:57:22 AM
The Lightning Network project has been developed since the last bull season. Years have passed, but nobody really knows what's going on. Everything is done behind closed doors. I think this is against the nature of Bitcoin. It is said to bring better conditions, but there is still nothing. Could it be just a stillborn idea?
The Lightning Network is only suitable for small recurring payments. And this is definitely not the silver bullet that will make Bitcoin a “peer-to-peer payment system”, as it is written in its white paper.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Over 2000 Projects Reviewed – 640 have not published a single Code in 2019 on: September 30, 2019, 03:52:35 AM
Apologies for the long thread title. Btw, I recently came across a report by CoinCodeCap and I found it fascinating and want to share with others o'er here.

Here are the key findings :
Main findings –

Quote
More than 640 cryptocurrencies did not publish any code in 2019.
Yobit is top exchange for these coins, list 62 such coins.

The combined market cap of these cryptocurrencies is more than $415 million. (415,341,340)

Proton Token with the highest market cap (84,989,086) has not published any code since 2018. (This data is from Nomics APIs)

What's more interesting is that, Majority of these projects were launched in 2017 with a truck load of promises. Today, The story is different.

What's your thoughts on this? Feel free to share.

Among other things, this excellent site has a scam section, and I would strongly advise everyone investing in altcoins to study it. For example, there is a very hype project EGT with market cap over $370 Million, and yes - it's pure scam.
245  Economy / Services / Re: CryptoTalk.Org Signature Campaign [Yobit Panel] on: September 30, 2019, 02:31:02 AM
If there are 20 pages of discussion, everything that could be said was already said. You will just repeat what someone else already said. There is no pointing in posting on these threads (unless it is a very specific case).

You should look for topics with few replies (0-10), not with 20 pages of replies (400+).
I do not agree with your opinion. The forum has a tree structure and topics are its branches. There are no large trees with only small branches, and bitcointalk is a very large tree. Truth is not a nut, you cannot just crack it and say - I took out the core, the job is done. Smiley
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⭐️ [ANN] [STO] Cancer Treatment Proven Since '09 ⭐️ MINIMUM INVESTMENT ONLY $90 ⭐️ on: September 29, 2019, 03:25:56 PM
I think that most of the movements of the crypto market, both up and down, are largely made artificially.

For ICO's yes, especially cryptocurrency built on software yet developed or not need or those that do not or will not have a revenue model.

But STO's  are different and they are treated and will trade like stocks in a stock exchange.  They will be control by

Supply and Demand
Revenue and quarterly profits
The industry they are in

To name a few

It is like comparing apples to oranges.  The will be different.  Forgot those tokens and the ones that are worthless.

STO's give you ownership in the company like a stock.

Gary
Gary, I supported your project in the bounty campaign and after its end I continue to feel deep sympathy for the passion with which you are promoting your brainchild. You are doing a great job, and your mission is good. I wish you success, patience and in no case give up, maybe you are not in the right place, but you are on the right path!
247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we really have fast transactions like the XRP? on: September 29, 2019, 01:29:30 PM
As for your main question, Lightning payments settle in a matter of seconds depending on the number of hops, but generally, 1-2 seconds is a pretty reliable estimate. However, currently it's mainly used for smaller payments due to the lower channel capacities and the overall liquidity. With some time that will drastically improve.
I am very glad for your optimism about the lightning network, but there is no reliable evidence that this is a solution to the issue of topicstarter, because:
So you're asking if the lightning network works? Well there are more nodes but for it to go to your main balance you'd still need to close the channel and that means a standard transaction.

In my opinion, the euphoria about lightning network has subsided and in its place comes the understanding that this is at least not a universal panacea for fast transaction problem.

ps Generally speaking, bitcoin transactions are very fast if you do not require them to have at least one confirmation. Smiley
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SONM • Decentralized Fog Computing on: September 29, 2019, 10:57:27 AM
SONM price growth is probably connected to SONM transformation into DAO, so that community can support and manage the project.

You can find SONM DAO creation roadmap here:
https://link.medium.com/XAsnDEIZi0

and you can find rinkeby SONM test DAO participation here:
https://link.medium.com/lawLQYKZi0

Well, people or rather the token holders here are enthusiastic about taking control of the project. I'm glad of this direction but a major issue is still the funding. Where in the hell will SONM DAO get funding for further development? Pro bono development?

If DAO concentrates funds, this can lead to SNM price growth, which will give additional price for developmemt. DAO can also sell some SNM tokens, or make additional emission of DAO tokens and sell them in the open market.

Sorry, but this is bullshit. I am extremely disappointed with the behavior of the team, it helped a little to sweeten this bitter pill that I sold all my tokens on a recent exit pump on binance.
Is what you say really true that his words are just bullshit? And if that's true, of course it's not just the ones who are disappointed with their team,
and we better just follow its development so as not to miss information
Everything looks as if the team spent $ 42 million in two years of development and now went into the sunset, leaving the project to its fate. And now we are talking about a DAO, which is planned to be financed by selling tokens on the market. Do you really want to participate in this? Me not.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ICON - Interchain Blockchain Network / Hyperconnect the World! on: September 29, 2019, 10:47:43 AM
It appears that ICON is still getting some attention. ICX got ranked as one of the top coins to watch for this week, ranked by CoinCodex!

https://coincodex.com/article/5220/top-3-coins-to-watch-september-23-september-29-2019/
I keep about a hundred coins as a long-term investment, but I sold a lot more a long time ago when I saw that the start-up hype was falling and the project had a long and difficult path to mass adoption, which was not a fact that would prove successful. However, the project is quite interesting and I do not lose sight of it.

Although it is long term investment but the approach of the dev team is really professional so they moving forward towards their destination. I hope one day it will surprise the whole world one day it have more big support behind it.
You are right, and at one time I was very delighted when I studied ICON's white paper. This project has a very elegant architecture. However, from an investor's point of view, it is useful to remember that the presale ended very quickly, and any price of more than ten cents is profitable for "early birds".
250  Local / Oбcyждeниe Bitcoin / Re: Давление майнеров на цену биткоина. on: September 29, 2019, 10:05:20 AM

Smiley
251  Local / Oбcyждeниe Bitcoin / Re: Давление майнеров на цену биткоина. on: September 29, 2019, 08:43:37 AM

Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index:
Quote
Annualized estimated global mining costs  $3,656,073,069
Annualized global mining revenues       $5,973,338,721
Current cost percentage                       61.21%

Smiley

252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Gold? Which one you would choose to invest for long term? Why ? on: September 29, 2019, 07:58:46 AM
We all have different  prospective regarding the investment , be it long term or short term.

Bitcoin has been the most amazing invention and has given massive return of investment for those who joined from 2013. From low point in 2013 to 20k in 2017, it has gone from one end to another end. Right now today its trading at $10461 per bitcoin. The prediction is with just 21 million maximum supply it will reach 1 million bucks per coin one day.

Gold has been one of the most popular investment for centuries. Every country or government be it in the past or present always prefer gold reserve over their own currency even to prepare themselves for financial meltdown. Right now GOLD is being traded at $1425/oz.

So my question is which one you would chose for your investment ? Which one you would chose to outperform the other ? GOLD or BITCOIN? Please tell us with a reason why ?

Thanks everyone for taking part in this discussion.
Of course, my sympathies are more for bitcoin, although my woman definitely prefers gold, and I'm not so stupid as to completely ignore her opinion. Smiley

But seriously, gold has something else to its advantage.
253  Local / Oбcyждeниe Bitcoin / Re: Давление майнеров на цену биткоина. on: September 29, 2019, 07:12:34 AM

I hope the upcoming planned hardfork will be successful. I keep a few coins in a paper wallet and glad that no extra effort will be required.

All the other upgrades have been successful so there is no reason this one won't be as well.
This is true, but with the previous hardfork, a noticeable drawdown of the hashrate was observed, and several alternative chains appeared at once, though they seem to have come to naught over time. I hope this time this does not happen or the decrease in hashrate will be smaller.

ps Sorry, I’m embarrassed to upload personal photos to reduce the risk of de-anonymization. I ordered the print myself, inspired by this. But of course you can not believe me, it is your right. Smiley
256  Economy / Services / Re: CryptoTalk.Org Signature Campaign [Yobit Panel] on: September 29, 2019, 04:31:11 AM
I'm confused. If this thread is wearing banners for cryptotalk.org  then why is it a yobit campaign?
For sure, cryptotalk is owned by yobit.
And as you can see, most of the participants in this campaign should be registered somehow on yobit to get their rewards and also track their posts.

They are building this forum, I'm not against another forum about Cryptocurrency I'm fully supporting it, it's part of the adoption the more forum we have the better I just noticed their forum is not well organized and they are using a different theme, they should make it  easy to navigate by using a good template.
There is one more point, since cryptotalk also has a payment for messages (albeit a very small one), perhaps it will pull some of the low-grade traffic from bitcointalk into itself and, paradoxically, the spam here will eventually become less. We'll see.

Paper wallet:

You don't have to do anything. However, if you want to restore a wallet after the scheduled network upgrade, you need to use the new v0.15 software.

258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: September 29, 2019, 03:50:37 AM
I knew of ETHEREUM when it was pennies on the dollar and was so stupid that I didn't buy at the time a few thousand to keep for a better day. So many people have become very wealthy just because they bought ETH when it was dirt cheap. I don't know now if there is any chance to make that kind of wealth again in the Cryptosphere. I personally think those days are over now and those huge gains were made by the early adopters who just bought a few bags and then saw their investment skyrocket. I believe though the technology is here to stay and maybe in the future, we might have some good projects off of the Ethereum network that might make a few people happy financially, but it's those who invested in ETH early, who are the real winners here. At least we can congratulate their foresight at least if anything.
Do not reproach ourselves for being stupid, we are sometimes strong in hindsight, and it is always very easy to trade on the left side of the price chart, but on the right side there is always uncertainty. It was pretty hard to predict the hype around the tokensales. Smiley

It is strange that the English-language topic of the project almost does not cover a number of news and events, some of which are simply amazing. Telegram at times literally rages from discussions, but here there is quite silence.

Sir, when will it be possible to spend bonus tokens received in the form of a reward for a login to purchase weapons? I have some RCC tokens on my balance and some bonus tokens, if I could put them together my collection of weapons would increase a little. Smiley

I'm holding this RCC token from long time but didn't receive any kind of bonus token? So would you like to explain you are talking about which token? I think you can only use only RCC token to buy from the store.
I am talking about bonus tokens that are awarded when logging into the site once a day in the amount of ten pieces (there was also a one-time return of half of the tokens spent on the purchase of weapons, but this is not about that now).
