241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining v0019 on: August 31, 2017, 04:33:35 AM

I agree with leenoox.  I have tested a spread of CPUs on 13x rigs; the CPU makes a significant difference in stability; please don't use celerons with 13x rigs.

My Celeron's are on 8x rigs and they cause too much instability. I would not recommend them at all. Invest little bit more in better CPU like i3 (I haven't used Pentium CPU's on mining rigs but I guess those are not much better than Celerons), it will save lots of frustration and downtime and it will pay itself off. A lot of times my Celeron rigs were frozen for 6-8 hours while I was at work -> lost revenue. I don't feel like babysitting them 24/7 and they will be replaced soon Smiley
I don't think i3  is required, i built a 12GPUs rig with BIOSTAR BTC pro, G4560, 4G ram and nvOC 0017, it has run 3*24 hours , no problem.
G4560 has 2 cores and 4 threads, much better than other Pentium and celerons.

WARNING:
DO NOT boot your dev machine with nvOC, it will destroy your data
@fullzero, please add this important tip to the OP, why do we need dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda1?

245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it worth it to build a 6 or 8 GPU mining rig today? on: August 24, 2017, 03:53:40 AM
I am new to this but have built a ton of computers and am pretty tech savvy. I currently have an ASIC mining BTC.

With the upcoming difficulty bomb looming for ETH is it worth it to spend the 3.5k or so to build a 6-8 GPU miner? No one can predict the future but is it reasonable to expect this to remain profitable long enough to see ROI?

I think you need to set your expectations and be prepared to mine other currencies beside ETH.  I actually got into mining to mine ETH,  but once I got my cards I realized mining other currencies were more profitable.  That was just in my situation though.  Certain cards perform differently than others, you have to be willing to read a lot of forum posts, do research, find the best miners, and mine the currency that will bring in the most profit.  Its almost been a blessing for me, as I had been converting all of the alt coins to bitcoin, hadn't sold my bitcoin, and now its at record prices.
converting all the coins to BTC is a great idea, cannot agree with you more.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I add different Nvidia 1060 GTX to the same rig ? on: August 24, 2017, 03:49:50 AM
sure, my 1080ti and 1060 are in the same rig and use different miners.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it worth it to build a 6 or 8 GPU mining rig today? on: August 24, 2017, 03:45:15 AM
I'm building a 12*gtx1060 3gb(samsung memory) rig at 3000$USD, i think it is profitable.

Nice! I can't get any Samsung memory cards in the 3gb versions but I do the love the 1060's. Power usage is so low compared to my 1070's.
yes, i've tested the card, 23mh/s, @80watts, very stable. I can supply all the 12  cards and mobo with single PSU.

250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining v0018 on: August 23, 2017, 11:02:39 AM
Feature Request:
1-
Add IP address to hostname at first boot to setup individual names for each rig.
So rigs names will become : m1-desktop-101 , m1-desktop-102 ....
I know we can edit our hostnames in /etc/hosts and /etc/hostanme.
It just make nvOC looks better at first start  Tongue

2-
Remind user to change the m1 password at first boot.
Its not safe.
for 2, adding some reminder texts is fine, but don't force user to change password.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know how to set up the autostart 1bash , temp control and watchdog bash files when you use SSH ? Is it possible to set up in a way so when I turn my rig on using SSH remote control , the 1bash will autostart and mining goes without me using ' bash /home/m1/1bash ' ?

I've tried to add these processes into the autostart but with no luck, I always have to open 1bash myself through the console.

Thanks for you help.

By the way, since in my set up I do not have any normal cards with video output(only using P106-100 cards) , I had problems with integrated graphics processor , when I installed the fresh OS on the rig without attached monitor to mobo and used SSH(for editing 1bash , etc.) it seemed to me that my usual "NVLM error 15 " or just freezing of the system doesn't come up as often as when I was using a monitor and local controling of the rig. I think this is because now in xorg files there's no mention of my "intel graphics". So everyone who has the same problem try to install the OS this way and remote control through SSH. I'm still to try and work around the overclocking these cards , hopefully fullzero will connect sometime soon and help me with that.

1bash is autostarted by default.
By the way, it's a good idea to buy a gtx1060 or 1050ti as primary GPU.

254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: August 20, 2017, 12:49:53 AM
At least that would make sense!

Sure would  have a custom in house bios for the company mining farm.

And restrict  the vega  so that it mines poorly for us.

This  allows it to sell mostly to gamers. = good sales for them

Second  self mine at a big discount  since they built the gear. =  this gives them  mining sales/profit  and prevents normal miner from buying all the gear out.

Based on the ceo's statements  it could be their plan  from now till early spring.

This would be a good thing if you are loaded up on 1080ti's

which coin are your 1080ti mining? what's the $ profits per day per  card?

Thanks for posting this info - I banged my head against a wall for quite a while trying to figure this error out before giving up on it.  This worked like a charm for me.

Though I think I'm still getting really low hashrates for skunk - whattomine thinks I should be getting 450mh/s with 5 1080 Tis and 7 1070s but I was only getting around 300mh/s.  With the new krnlx miner I'm still only getting about 370Mh/s, which still seems pretty low.  My miner also restarts with the watchdog reporting under utilization.  My 1080 Tis are only running at about 60% and 1070s at 80-85% capacity.  Can't figure out what's causing that.

EDIT: I added the '-i 25' flag to the command line and boosted core clock on the 1070s to +125 now I'm up at 480mh/s =)

Hum just stay away from krnlx release ... Low report share is a "know" problem ...
I lost one week of mining on this stupid release ... Just dont USE krlnx this dev drop a brocken build and vanish ... First and last one i use something from him ...
So a basic; krlnx mod boost your hashrate but you loose 30% expected share ... Use new ccminer release from tpru u get same hashrate and REAL SHARE.
For 1070 u can push -i 25, Coreclock + 100/140 depend on card, MemoryClock -1500. I dont use 1080, but i bet u can push them to -i 26, to grab a solid 50mh/s+ per 1080ti

https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases link to tpruvot version.

Yes indeed...

How do you lose 30% of expected shares?  You mean rejected shares?

Not rejected shares, is a weird thing and i dont analyze deeper on this. I get 70% of expected share with this hashrate report, so remove 30% of your hashrate when u use krnlx

Where are you getting your expected shares tally from?  I think that varies based on difficulty of the shares calculated which is determined by the stratum server, not your machine, so i don't know how you'd reliably determine expected shares in order to reason that you're losing 30%.  Right now with 460-480Mh/s I'm getting about 22 coins an hour, which seems to be in line with the predictions of whattomine.com's mining calculator profit wise, ~ 525-550 coins a day @ $.07 per coin = ~$37-38.00 /day.

I haven't mined at length with TPruvot ccminer 2.2 with the current configuration on my system, so I don't know if it would result in higher profit, but krnlx seems to be on point for profitability estimates now that I've got it properly configured and my clock settings are dialed in.   FWIW, I'm not sure why you're downclocking your memory so much.  I overclock mine +100 on 1070s and +800 on 1080 Tis.  I see no benefit from underclocking memory on Nvidia cards really since power usage comes from core clock speed primarily, and it could result in unstable mining to underclock memory too much.

EDIT:  I had the under use problem with Watchdog as well, but I took care of that by raising my clock speed on my GPUs from +100 to +125 and setting intensity to -i 25, now I don't have watchdog restarts at all.

I get same result on suprnova or pool.mn, for 2 days on each after i install krnlx, i lost 30% income and lost 30% on wathtomine prediction.
I give a try to push my MemoryClock to +100 and i lost hashrate instant, prolly depend from the card. Maybe try to lower your MemoryClock u gona gain more hashrate. I use 8 x ASUS 1070 8OG, i have stable for more them 24h running and get 242+mh/s

After reading this: I don't want to include the krnlx fork.  Instead I will update the tpruvot to the newest version for v0019.  Is this the optimal client right now for skunk?

So far i know trpuvot fork is the best for skunk algo, i dont test new palginmod release https://github.com/palginpav/ccminer/releases cause is build for window. SP_mod give good hashrate but u have to pay for his mod Wink
I'm using trpuvot too, looks great.

How to add Claymore 9.8 Im keep getting error with screen attach?
download 9.8, extract to ~/eth/9_8, replace 9_7 with 9_8 in 1bash.

Hi,

can you explain to me how to set Power limit for GPU-z ?
also when i try to OC on bash file no effect, i must do it in powermizer to work.

On another note I have Asrock H110 BTC+ PRO with 13*P106-100 6GB GPU-z, they all work fine, and i see ppl asking about CPU, G3900 i not enough minimum you should tell them is i3 7100 3.9ghz 2-Cor/4-Thread
i had G3900 but system froze a lot as CPU usage was 70+% now with the i3 everything is good, CPU usage avg. 20-30%

The problem is with the P106-100 not being properly recognized in nvOC.  Until they are; you will not be able to use powerlimit or OC with them.

Hi,

i have successfully reduced power-limit (via 1bash) as was instructed by the program its just trial and error, as there is not a tutorial for nvOC.
( set maximus =YES and Individual Power set =YES then set preferred values and restart system.) I confirm that it works.
for OC powermiser works but tomorrow we will test if it will work with 1bash file.
we are running 1*gtx1060 for vga(display) and 12*p106-100 all cards are running and working. Until you get hold of P106-100 to make it possible to run 13*P106-100 ppl must use one normal gaming GPU.
i can confirm that one normal GPU with many p106 works well out of the box.

Is it possible to add the Ethminer fork in the next release?

It works fine for my Nvidia cards and has no dev fee instead of Claymore: https://github.com/ethereum-mining/ethminer/releases

Hmm checking this Github repo, I see this is NOT the same as Genoil's ethminer (there's a FAQ explaining there). So, the question is... Does it perform better than Genoil's? Anyone actually tested?
i built the code and tested, it has the same hashrate as Genoil's in nvOC.
but it could have more features, e.g. shwo hashrate per card.,so it's better to add it in the next nvOC release.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why do people suggest investing in Cryptocoins vs Mining For Quick Profit? on: August 18, 2017, 01:50:58 AM
if the price of coins crash, everybody in the world will sell GPUs, I don't think you can sell your GPU with good price.

you also have to handle much more things for mining, including warehouse, electric, cooling, mining software...

it's a tradeoff.
