241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suffering from If Only Syndrome Re: $902,159.15 on: December 05, 2017, 01:26:22 AM
I think it may be one of the things holding bitcoin back as a currency or payment system ... now, nobody wants to part with their BTC.  I'll trade with my Etherium or Litecoin, but never my BTC.  Once it's in my wallet, it's staying there.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: WINGS ★ Where DAO Unicorns Are Born! ★ Token launched! on: December 04, 2017, 09:12:32 PM
Is there a spread sheet for BMC payouts?  I wasn't around to participate, but I'm interested in seeing how the forecast payments break down.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the MOST Hacked cryptocurrency in the top 10 coin? on: December 03, 2017, 05:48:45 PM
Although there are a lot of Bitcoin Scams, I think Ethereum probably has it beat by a narrow margin ... and as others have said, it's not Ethereum getting hacked, it fake wallets, phishing scams, and the infamous DAO contract flaws.
244  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: ReaderNet- A Revolution in Publishing Industry on: November 29, 2017, 01:51:49 AM
Looks like a unique and interesting project.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Around 4 Million Bitcoins lost forever!! on: November 27, 2017, 07:41:08 PM
How do they tell long term holders from people who have lost their wallets/passwords?  I know some people are saying Satoshi is sitting on 1 million BTC, and if he is dead and didn't share his keys, then those are out of circulation ... but no one can say for sure the status of those BTC.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ever heard of "Maker" (MKR)? on: November 27, 2017, 01:50:34 AM
According to this, it's the 4th most valuable ERC20 token (Between OMG and REP) at $386 Million.

https://etherscan.io/tokens

Never heard of it.  Doesn't have a thread on BCT.  Doesn't even seem to be mentioned anywhere here.  Doesn't appear to be on any major exchanges, the only one shown on their web page is "OasisDex".

It appears to be something like tether ... stabilized to fiat.

Anyone know anything about it?
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What platform most meme and "shitcoins" are made on? on: November 27, 2017, 01:34:12 AM
According to this, there are 17,400+ ERC20 token contracts, and only 49 of them have a market cap above $3.5 million.  That's a lot of shit coins.

But ERC-20 tokens are not automatically listed anywhere either. How come?

There are a couple of exchanges, like EtherDelta, where a dev can easily list their coins.  I don't think it's automatic, but the dev just has to upload the contract, or some such thing.  All the new ERC20 airdrops end up there.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bit Coin is a Ponzi Scheme on: November 26, 2017, 07:54:04 PM
Also, Apple Stock, Real Estate, Numismatic coins, Collectable Cars, Classic Art Work ....  all Ponzi Schemes (by the OP's definition) ... the people buying now are just making the people who bought in 80s richer ...  Roll Eyes

249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TOKEN SALE - Gladius Network [GLA] - DDoS Protection On The Blockchain on: November 26, 2017, 07:17:07 PM
Is this an okay place to talk about the tech aspects of Gladius?  Like what kind of equipment will you need to run a node?  Is something that could be run on something like an Odroid, or will it require more resources?  Linux only?
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Super Bitcoin ... another fork scheduled for 12/17 on: November 25, 2017, 02:35:35 PM
Since August, in the last four months, we've got bitcoin in cash, bitcoin gold and bitcoin diamond. In the middle of December will be superbitcoin? Will this be his name? Well, judging by the name, there should be some serious improvements. Even if he turns out to be an unnecessary clone, vseravno wondering what this will be. Moreover, we can not influence this process in any way.

It makes me wonder if there is anyone with standing to sue these "bitcoin" clones over trademark infringement ... or if the name "bitcoin" could be granted trademark protection, to force these other clones to change their name.  The clones and forks don't bother me, it's free money that you can cash in for more BTC if that's what you want, but I really don't like people stealing the bitcoin name.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Diamond on: November 25, 2017, 02:26:58 PM
So is this like BTG, where you have to wait for a suitable wallet to claim the BTD ... a bunch of people are going to scammed by fake wallets in the meantime?
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Super Bitcoin ... another fork scheduled for 12/17 on: November 25, 2017, 04:31:56 AM
Not liking the name. Did the article mention which exchange they might be trading at?

I saw it mentioned here, too, at the end.  Doesn't say anything about exchanges.

253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Diamond on: November 25, 2017, 03:52:35 AM
Yeah .... I don't see how a 10 for 1 fork can work unless you had your coins on a exchange.  I can't imagine there is any way to get your Bitcoin Diamond at a 10:1 ratio by importing a private key into a new wallet.  Maybe I'm wrong, I just can't think of how that is possible.  If that's the case, they really did a crappy job of getting the word out before the fork.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this for real ? another fork of bitcoin ? BITCOIN DIAMOND on: November 25, 2017, 03:47:05 AM
This one is really confusing.  It says 1:1 fork, but some people are saying that since the Dev increased the total coins to 210 million (from 21 million BTC), they are doing a 10:1 fork ... how the heck does that work?  Can you really claim 10 BTD for every BTC on the blockchain?  Seems like the only way that could be accomplished if you had your coins on a exchange that was supporting the fork.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: WINGS ★ Where DAO Unicorns Are Born! ★ Token launched! on: November 23, 2017, 04:41:29 PM
I know the team has their hands full with development, but I'm hoping in the future we will have the option to accept out rewards (or convert them via a built in exchange) directly in Wings.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool has doubled in the last 8 hours on: November 22, 2017, 04:00:10 PM
I think the majority of folks on here on hodlers. Mempool doesn't matter to many and there's a multi faceted plan to make transactions faster.
Mining power can be moved and replaced and with all of the creative developers, some sort of plan is likely in the works.

I think we are in a "fox gardening the hen house" type situation here.  Miners have to vote for changes, and miners are making a fortune off the very high fees that come from the congested network.  Definetly a problem that Satoshi may not have envisioned.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] 🔴 Gladius Network 🔴 BTC and GLA Bounty Campaign - Token Sale Jan 14 on: November 22, 2017, 04:51:57 AM
I ranked up today, added the avatar, and updated signature.  I'm hoping the signature campaign will note this.  Thanks.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH sent to BCT address- money now lost! Help! on: November 22, 2017, 04:02:49 AM
This problem is only going to worse with Bitcoin Gold ... and if Bitcoin 2X, Bitcoin Silver, Bitcoin Diamond ever become "a thing".  It sucks, but if it wasn't an exchange, you can probably recover the money through private keys.  Exchanges screw you over, and honestly, they probably go through occasionally and clean out these misdirected private keys....
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10k Bitcoin upcoming!? What are your plans for the Alts? on: November 20, 2017, 07:55:52 PM
It seems like under normal market conditions, alts and bitcoin rise and fall together.  It's when a highly anticipated fork is scheduled that they diverge.  I've got about 25% of holdings in bitcoin, and the rest in several Alts, and plan to keep it that way.  Since B2X was cancelled/postponed, both my BTC and Alts have been doing very well.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safest Wallet for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) on: November 20, 2017, 07:52:17 PM
Bitcoin Cash is on Exodus, but it's not entirely open source.  Still, never had a problem with it or heard of anyone having a problem with it.
