241  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC passes $5,000 USD milestone on: October 13, 2017, 07:41:48 AM
Any theories on what caused the sudden spike in price? Do you think the price will hold over the next few weeks? Any speculations for the future?

Big day for BTC, I remember reading threads in 2015 about how "one day BTC will be over 5k USD"... today's that day
This is great news because in the very first time the bitcoins have already reached nearly $ 5,500 and really many traders have earned big money here. But do not rejoice because I think this is a HYIP. Because we know now that there will be a 2nd HardFork and maybe those who want to get free BTG (Bitcoin Gold). So we expect that after the hardfork will again fall into the price of bitcoins.

HYIP? For bitcoin? Oh my godness, if it's a hyip, what are you doing her in this forum? I really wondered this.

For such digital economic asset, you shouldn't say ponzi or HYIP. If you say so, you have to detail this very much!

I think what he wanted to say was Hype...
As else it is complete non-seance...

As people buy BTC for profit, or for the fork there is a hype and more people come to buy and less people sell, as they like to keep the coin for the forks and thus the price rises more and more...
Good luck and hope to see $8888 (this one is for China Wink soon Wink

Hello guys,

i am lit a bit new in theese "snapshots",
so its the holderts of Btc during on 25 th will receive 1 BtcGold for 1 Btc?
And also if i have 0,4 Btc in the wallet am i taking 0,4 BtcGold or i need to have at least 1 Btc ?

Thank you!

Even if you have 1 satoshi (0.00000001BTC) you will get the same amount in new coin
244  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC passes $5,000 USD milestone on: October 12, 2017, 03:46:02 PM
Quite possibly due to the two upcoming forks in the future. People thinking that they're getting "free money". Possibly people who missed the free bitcoincash months ago.

If i have Bitcoins in Poloniex, Cryptopia, Localbitcoins and Ledger Nano S, do i get free Bitcoin Gold in all these Bitcoins?

For the exchanges I have experience with Cryptopia and BTC-e they both supported the |BCH, so I got it there.
The Hard wallets will work, the question is how you will access them (as you will need to expose the private key...) but at least you will be able to get them one day Wink only you and no one else.
245  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC passes $5,000 USD milestone on: October 12, 2017, 03:02:28 PM
The $5,000 mark was an important psychological barrier. The next important one is going to occur at $10,000. And by that time, the market capitalization of Bitcoin will be around $170 billion, which is more than the market cap of many of the major American corporations such as Boeing and Raytheon.

I think after the $5k break there will be one other to pass before the $10k milestone and it is $8888 (I know they trying to stop trading in China, but...)

It will be interesting. Will be funny if the $10k mark is hit @ end of this year...
246  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can buy some altcoin?? on: October 12, 2017, 02:54:08 PM
Hi I am new user in bitcointalk.org and I want to buy some altcoin. I have no experience about trading. Please share your experience.

It all depends from few factors:

1. What amount do you plan to invest?
2. Will you be investing more in the future (adding more FIAT=>crypto)?
3. Do you have any alt-coin in mind, or you have no idea?
4. Will you be trading them actively each day or will you buy and hold?
5. How risky you like your portfolio to be?
6. Do you have exp. trading or investing in ForeX, futures, commodities, stocks, business etc.
7. How old are you?
8. What education you have?
9. How much time a day can you give for research?
10. What expectations do you have?
247  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC passes $5,000 USD milestone on: October 12, 2017, 02:39:13 PM
This rise was because of the expected fork. I hoped it will be after tomorrow, as that is the day I transfer some of my money in BTC, but apparently I will need to pay high price for it this month.

It is ok, as the future is in front and the price today is irrelevant for the future Wink

Still so disappointed... Sad
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What You Need To Know To Get FREE Bitcoin Gold During The Fork. on: October 12, 2017, 01:49:28 PM
extra advice to add..

after the snapshot date.
move the coins. so that the bitcoins are no longer on private key of (ops eg:)"123456789qwertyuiop" using a bitcoin wallet.
so that while the bitcoin gold still has coins on that (ops eg:)"123456789qwertyuiop". you no longer have them on the same privkey on the bitcoin side to worry about any cross over

then.. knowing the bitcoin gold snapshot has coins on private key of "123456789qwertyuiop".
your then safer to import privkey into a bitcoingold wallet without worry of some hacker/middleman attack taking your privkey to empty your bitcoin stash..

personal note..
i prefer to think of core as the bitcoin gold altcoin. or just naming it segwit as they do NOT want it used as a peer-to-peer currency, they prefer the hub/spoke reserve currency. much like how gold transactions occur.

but then again core have always been screwed up with their buzzwords/ bait and switches and twisting the truth

BTW why there is no announce for this fork in here? is there any official post?
Where can we see who is making it and how it will be working?
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will BTG be similar to BCH in terms of price speculation? on: October 12, 2017, 01:34:04 PM
BTG (or BCG) is going to be pre-mined and no matter what, a pre-mined coin is always used for developers' own economic and monetary funding purposes which is why they mostly fail due to the fact (and fear) that they might dump their share any time once the values suddenly start to rise. BTG is being said to possess 1/4th the price of Bitcoins' current value (means BTC0.25). Do you really think a pre-mined coin is worth it? They are not even ready with replay protection implemented over a coin that's just ~2 weeks away from being released. Everything looks shady on their side, don't fall for this - that's my advice for you.

This is very interesting, so if it is premined, we will not get the amount we got in BTC into the BCG? like we did in BCH?
or are they premining it and then let each address clime the coins?
250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC effect on altcoins on: October 12, 2017, 01:20:25 PM
Most Altcoins are dependent on bitcoin, but bitcoin is not dependent on Altcoin. Once bitcoin decrease, altcoin would possibly do the same, but once bitcoin pump it is not really the reason why altcoin pump. There were case that the demand gor bitcoin is really high and altcoin was mostly low. It usually happens when a hard fork is to happen, personally because of my expectation that bitcoin would rise, I let go of all my altcoins and convert it to BTC. Last August 1 hard fork, The BTC holders that time recieved BCC based on their btc account. And this was also the expectation incoming hard fork that is why holders are storing as much as they could even letting go of the altcoins.

You have some point of what you say, but it is not only when there is a hard fork (as this has happened only in the last few months and this pattern is happening each time there is a hipe in BTC).
The idea is that when BTC grows everyone wants to hold BTC and that is why alts keep the same price in USD or drop, as they convert them into BTC and USD to buy BTC...
Usually after the hipe is over and the price starts to settle, the price of alts are skyrocketing...
So now are there is a new ATH the price will hipe some more, so I do not expect alts catching up anytime soon Wink

I voted for too many scams, let's speak the truth here, it is really hard to trust this ICOs ( which you can see that almost daily they are posting on altcoin announcement thread) I'll trust them if they can create a signature campaign that pays Bitcoin. With that step i think they will gain the trust from the investors.

sorry for the offtopic but first this:

What do you mean "that pays Bitcoin"?

and now on topic:

This is cool idea, I think the most big problem is that there are not easy accessible wallets for the altcoins, so you can have the private key.
This is the biggest problem for me, as I can not trust exchanges with my coins, and it is hard to make wallets for all the altcoins.
So this is the biggest problem for me. Also not small problem is the scam that comes with new alts...

But this idea is really cool and I hope you develop it good.

P.S.: IDK why but can not vote on the pool Wink

Thanks for the feedback! Would you be willing to create an account on a platform and send your BTC/ETH to this account. Then choose a portfolio from a selection of portfolios and the platform would buy this portfolio for you, manage it, rebalance etc. for a small commission fee (% of your BTC/ETH)? Would there be a way for you to trust your coins on a platform?

If it is regulated - yes;
If it is decentralized - yes;
else I will not.
I like to keep my crypto in me, so I can control them in each time I like to.
So sad that for now there are no such a company/platform.

btw if you need help send me pm Wink
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Gold, Price Speculation on: October 12, 2017, 06:52:52 AM
I think the price will be much higher than Bitcoin Cash. There were lots of people thought that Bitcoin Cash will dump to zero. They sold their coins and then regret. Bitcoin cash is now one of best altcoins with good future. I don't think this will happen to Bitcoin Cash too. More people will hold it and cause the price to be higher than bitcoin cash.

strange to say that, as BCH has value less then the beginning, so if they sell then, they can buy now cheaper and end up with more BCH then they started with...
So they should be happy not sad Wink

As for the Bitcoin Gold, I am not sure it will repeat the BCH path, there are much uncertainty and it is hard to see where it will go.
In anyway it is cool idea to invest in BTC now and have free Bitcoin Gold, from then you decide what to do with the free money - take or keep it...

I still keep my BCH as most of it is in a wallet that still does not support it, and wanted to see where it will go. Unfortunately at this point it is at hist lowest value ever (counted into BTC as FIAT=0 for me). So I am in loss from it but still do not care. probably will keep the gold as well, just as I am scared it may reach btc and I do not know which will be better to keep after the split. All will be clear once the split is a fact, but for now just speculations Wink

254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I send bitcoin without fee? on: October 12, 2017, 06:13:51 AM
When you exchange currency with others, of course you have to pay a small fee. If you do not want to charge, use coinbase. Coinbase supports the same account in the coinbase wallet will not charge if the wallet is not a coinbase will charge  Cheesy

So true but sending to other wallet not in the same exchange is another story. There is always a fee as this is a fee to the miners. This miners fee  are needed in order to process your transaction.
Nope you are wrong!

The fee is for after all BTC is mined (~2170). not now. You CAN send BTC WITHOUT fee, just need to meet some conditions.

Coinbase and other "wallets" like it are not real wallets, as they have the private key not you!
If they charge you fee it is for the service they provide. Has nothing to do with the Blockchain.
Also usually (when you take your BTC to your wallet, or to other site) they charge you the transaction fee that is needed to guarantee that the transaction will be included in the next block.
If you have to send coins each week or once a month and you do not care the speed (when will be included in the blockchain) then you can send transaction with 0 fee, just as shown few posts up (received at: 2017-09-19 15:38:22), so it is ok to send BTC with 0 fees if you use REAL wallet, not a service where you do not control the private key!

Yes once all BTC is mined (~2170) the fee will most likely be mandatory, as then the miners will need it to keep mining...
255  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I send bitcoin without fee? on: October 11, 2017, 01:25:24 PM
everyone keeps saying tx without fee is not possible
there's a possibility a transaction will be confirmed by miner even with 0 BTC fee
ask this guy Cool and few others that know what they're doing
https://blockchain.info/tx/7951f7981546d3aecd98bb1951d61541f93ea83f3294a1e99bf593c0567fce45
14.8KB tx size with 0 fee, probably because the amount transacted so big or owned by the miner itself
I think what Wall-ET said might still work,
we need someone with technical expert and updated consensus rules here

325+BTCs without fees? That's awesome! Did he hacked the blockchain or something?  Grin Hope we can do transaction with less fees, tx fees are over the roof nowadays.  Undecided

Just read one of my last posts I have explained in detail how this transaction is possible!
It is possible only if there are less transactions then the space for the next block (it is not all the time, but from time to time).
So you could prepare your transactions and send them when this opportunity opens.

But I see people talk without reading any post in here.
Talking about how it is not possible and talking about services provided by third party, when the OP asked for a wallet, not service provider, that can do this.
The "fee" for the miners  is the 0 transaction and it will be present up until 2170, so you should not worries this reward for the miners will end soon...

So it has been paid for already. Also want to note if you use service for BitCoin - you DO NOT OWN any coins... So that is BIG risk to take.

257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are trading bots slow death for altcoins? on: September 28, 2017, 07:56:20 AM
it is not as easy as that.
and if one bot is using such strategies it won't change much about the whole market. it is only one way of making profit from a market. and if the market is headed in a direction it will continue to do so.
No offense but it is that simple.  The link I provided explains it in depth but what I wrote is the gist of it.  And it's not 'one bot' (obviously).  There's shit tons of them.

This is just one way it can work, and if it does work only in this way it will start loosing soon, as the market will change and this strategy will not work anymore.
That is why in order to be profitable, it needs to addapt to the market and change strategies all the time.
The idea that they will not change much is that if they are workign only this, they will die once the market conditions change (in the long term). Thus not afecting the coin in the long run...
no.
these altcoins on are downward trends only because they are pump and dumps and you happened to see their dumping era.
you can find other altcoins that have been stable and had a solid movement. like Monero (apart from past couple of days of pump) litecoin. but those shitty pump and dumps coins will go down even if there were no bots.
people are fed up with the "pumps and dumps" not the bots or the market.
Some coins won't be selected for bots because they are too stable.  Bot auto trading requires high volatility / high volume and a generally healthy curve (not recently pumped, not on a death spiral).

Bots can trade stable coins as well. There is no limit. The only limit is the inventor of the strategie used by the bot. If they make one for stable coins (there are lots of strategies for this) then the bot will trade these coins.
If not they will not.
that 1 sat thing is not really something effective. that is something desperate as a matter of fact.
if you speculate a price movement then place your orders at that price, you shouldn't worry about a little difference anyways. and if you are afraid just sell at market price, the prices are never with big spread for liquid coins.
Sure it's desperate, I wouldn't argue that futzing around over 1 sat is laughable.  The real point of it is to make sure they're at the top of the list.  Not that they get 1 sat more.  And some coins do have a very high range during active trading.  I'm watching MCO go bezerk right now and it's not unusual for there to be a 15k spread between best bid and best offer.  That's 3% at the current rate.  A lot of traders are aiming for 5-10%, that's giving away an unacceptable portion of it.  Also putting your trades in ahead of time tells everyone your intentions, it lets other people put up walls in front of you that prevent your trade from going through.  Ex, you want to sell 10 coins at 6000 sat.  Someone else wants to make sure they sell their 5000 coins first at 5999.  It's entirely possible the market will run out of momentum before it cracks through those 5000 coins they're selling.  Sometimes I preset my sales, sometimes I don't, it depends on what's going on.

The 1 sat is called churring, and does not help much. The thing that it can do is reduce the profit that all traders (bots and humans) will take in the end and nothing more.
Only shitty bots are done in this way.

In final words:
Bots can not kill a coin. They can kill human traders, but not the coin.
Bots are good, as they provide liquidity. This is good for coins. This way they become stable and more attractive to investors.
No big investor likes to see his investment go from 100% profit to 0% then back and forth 10 times for half hour...
They like the stable movement and that is possible only with liquidity. As the bots provide this they are good for the market of coins...

BTW what you have seen (go up and fall of a coin after good news ) is just what is "pump 'n dump" most probably the news was fake just to generate momentum and the coin to be pumped and then the manipulators just cash out and sell the coin to the people who decide to join on the ride up. Then when the momentum is gone they dump the rest till they crash the coin and just buy @ low if they would like to repeat it. That is what you saw and it has nothing to do with the bots.

After all if that was true then the Forex would be dead... it is not and there over 70% (if not more...) of the volume is done from bots...
258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I send bitcoin without fee? on: September 28, 2017, 06:32:46 AM
transaction without fee?  a transaction from sending currencies and received is impossible that you do not pay, that is the bussiness also of the owner of this bitcoin wallet so that you always have to pay it per transaction.

Sorry, but this is completely wrong!
"the owner" of any wallet does not receive a penny for any transaction!
This is a misconception. the fee goes to the miners not some place else (exchanges charge you fee for withdraw, but if not mistaken they cover the  transaction fee for you...).
If you are using a wallet that charges you more then the transaction fee, then you should switch to a different wallet Wink
259  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I send bitcoin without fee? on: September 25, 2017, 02:32:02 PM
No way to do without transact fee. But I think you can choose the wallet that transaction fee low.

Not true, sir. The only reason you're paying a fee is to pay the miner to confirm your transaction on the blockchain. If you transact off the blockchain there is no confirmation needed and therefore no fee assessed.

Please don't spread mis-information. Thanks.
so far it is also the first time i know about what are you saying. you have gave so important information to fix the mis-
perception on the most people thought.
yeah it's one of many path the miners earn bitcoins. but bitcoin transactions fee should be faster and cheaper a little more

Not sure if you have seen my post, but I have explained how to send BTC in the Blockchain without fee!!!

The OP use-case is:
He has to make lots of micro-transactions to lots of people.
If he uses wallet that allows you to set multi recipients then he can pass all of them at once with just one fee.
If he wants that fee to be cleared, he needs to use pretty old BTC and low in hops. (as far as I understand it you need to use first generated coins, that have been generated years ago in order to fit the requirement for hi priority).

Here are the 3 rules that need to be matched so you will get in block with NO FEE at all! (we do not talk about exchange fees and other sites fees, we talk about blockchain fees):

1. It is smaller than 1,000 bytes.
2. All outputs are 0.01 BTC or larger.
3. Its priority is large enough *

1. The size of the transaction depends on the amount of historical data it needs to follow to genesis (freshly created coin).
2. The outputs need to be at least 0.01 BTC (this probably will not be meth, so the fee will be needed)
3. The priority is counted as: priority = sum(input_value_in_base_units * input_age)/size_in_bytes

So if we have transaction that has 2 inputs, one of 12.5 btc with 2016 confirmations (two weeks old mined block), and one of 2 btc with 10 confirmations, and has a size of 500bytes, will have a priority of

(1250000000 * 2016 + 200000000 * 10) / 500 = 5,044,000,000 => this is ok

* - Transactions needed to have a priority above 57,600,000 to avoid the enforced limit (as of client version 0.3.21)

And how can I make sure not to imitate or take the label or the way

Just check the list of alts already created and if your name is not taken you are ok to use it.
it is just as simple as to do a google search for the name you like and if there is something it will appear.
Usually ppl post here [ANN][Name_of_Coin]... so you know if your name is free or not Wink

Good luck in creating one.

btw just note that it must be unique and has to offer something more then just new name in order to become popular...
