241  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [PROJECT] Insta-wallet competitor (with Firstbits!) on: April 01, 2012, 09:37:37 PM
I have no idea how much I'd charge for premium addresses.  That's one of the questions I listed in the OP.  Wink
responded before then but here are my answers to those questions

1.  Do you think such a service would be viable as a competitor to other existing sites, such as instawallet?
2.  Would you use such a site, or recommend it for use by other people?
3.  What do you think the rental price (assume a monthly rental period) of premium firstbits addresses should be?
4.  Should the price be determined in an "auction" style, so that more desired premium addresses are more sought after?  The auction price would be the price the person pays each renewal period for the premium address as long as they wish to continue owning it.
5.  Is anyone interested in helping out on the project for a cut of the profits?  It is a large project, and I have a full-time job already.  Could probably get it done by myself, but it would be in a longer timeframe than I would really like.  Plus, I could use help on the security side of things.
1. as long as it is made well, yes.
2. possible. If it was made I suppose stripcoin.com would recommend it to people. Personally I try get people to download a client. If I have to I normally suggest blockchain.info before instawallet because it at least requires a password. (you making a login/password optional seems like a good idea to be a little different from both site.)
3. no idea. not a lot considering you can make your own vanity address. on the other hand I feel a large majority of the people using webwallets dont have the knowledge. one problem is that you can have duplicate vanity address rendering it useless as a firstbit.
4.
5.

How much do you expect a site like this to make? Id say most of your income would come from advertisements? Depending on how much and how popular the site was more to come from vanity address.

I dont think its really necessary. It was mentioned in the r/gonewild thread but its easy enough to use coinad or a similar service to get the address into the chain. Maybe if you can give a good example of why someone would need to use a firstbit IMMEDIATELY! how much would you charge for premium bits?
243  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE - request for next features on: April 01, 2012, 07:32:48 PM
-there should be an button to generate a new bitcoin address instead of it generating on its own. You should see a list of all your deposit address and be able to see the deposit history for each address
-lines around text boxes
-limit ticker length 5 chars? (before the .suffix if there is one, so ABCDE.ETF etc..)
-account history
-BTC balance on every page
-an OPTION to get emails when order is fulfilled
-account to account transfers

hot dog. Im not sure if you changed anything but I have lines around my texts boxes, assets are properly color coded, and more, all the CSS is working.

Im not into it but should there be a bounty for the first 10 guys as well?
245  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [NSFW] Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 31, 2012, 01:50:44 PM
we need to add directions on how guys(or anyone) can get bitcoins to tip these ladies. Id say everyone who tipped so far is already from bitcoins eventually we are going to *run out of coins*.

Someone suggested earlier posting on 4chan and other image boards cant hurt. They mentioned cam girls too. A few months(6?) back a guy tried to start up a brand new cam site that worked with only bitcoins it didnt succeed. That was a large endeavor I think we can go after individual girls on cam sites and convince them to put a bitaddress or or first bits in the background it would be a great idea. A good place to start may be cam4.com https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34962.0 (seems this guys service of selling tokens at a discount for bitcoins as stopped.)

[...] YOUTUBE [...] REMOVED OUR BELOVED LADYBYTES VIDEO.

Options?

Put it up at http://www.dailymotion.com/ and http://vimeo.com/

They both seem to have more relaxed policies about what's acceptable in a video.
close to my suggestions I was going to say dailymotion or veoh(but they have a family filter and you need an account to turn it off)

Unless I counted wrong we only need 2 more girls until the bounty is released?
247  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [NSFW] Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 30, 2012, 11:52:22 PM
FUCKING CUNTS AT YOUTUBE, THANKS TO PURITAN DOUCHEBAGS, REMOVED OUR BELOVED LADYBYTES VIDEO.

Options?

edit: Well, the removed the first instance I posted.. it's still up at the new location(throw away account), but it's just a matter of time)
reupload again or use a different video hoster.
248  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 30, 2012, 02:09:49 AM
who ever stole ladybytes coins is a real douche.... Live and learn, now the instructions are updated hopefully it wont happen again. sending a coin to the bounty later. hoping to see someone write btc.to on themselves instead of paper. Smiley It looked like ladybyte wrote it on her hand in the youtube video she made but that doesnt could.

On the portfolio page, when will the history be cut off, or will it continue to add trade history to the tables in the Portfolio page?

Right now they just continue, but eventually we're going to have to limit the numbers.

What do you think is an ideal number?

I'd like to be able to pick from / to date and get results back to the beginning of time .. probably not alone on that one.
agreed. some combo of both might be good. Im sure there are a few people who do lots of trading. 1month/100trades which ever comes first?

either way we should be able to go all the way back to the beginning.
250  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 29, 2012, 01:50:21 PM
I really like FirstBits... but it's fatal flaw, especially with regard to newcomers, is the requirement that the address exists in the blockchain. If there is anyway to overcome this, PLEASE make it happen. Also, the ease of making a QR code by appending /qr is a killer feature of btc.to. If this can be replicated, this needs to happen too.

But this endeavour, at least while people are still learning *everything* about Bitcoin, the firehose of information needs to be turned down a bit so the noobs are not overwhelmed.

edit:
I'm not advising girls to NOT use first bits... but they can adopt this after they've picked up the basics. For /r/girlsgonebitcoin though, I think it's in our best interest to promote btc.to until they get firstbits on their own.

There is a solution, not that hard!

Just need an instawallet clone that sends a satoshi (using SendMany for low fees) to addresses in advance of giving them out.

why not tell them to use the bitcoin faucet once? thats easy enough.

agree with DeathAndTaxes, Im sending her some coin now.

252  Economy / Securities / Re: TyGrr-Bot (GLBSE) ~automated arbitrage trading system~ on: March 28, 2012, 06:07:18 PM
Well performance evidence will only be provided to people who want to buy into the company and not bond holders.
how much to buy into the company?

I didnt see any answers to this questions.
Who developed the bot, and what is the developer's trading experience?

Are there any test results for the bot?

Has it run with live funds yet?

one more question who else is in the company? I didnt see it mentioned anywhere in this thread.
253  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 28, 2012, 02:47:28 AM
I agree with most of your points... but it doesn't cost anything to write a first bits on your body, so I dont see it dieing out... If even one person responds with some bitcoins, writing out the firstbits makes it worth while. And it makes it self fulfilling.. If one girl is doing it, she's going to be inclined to think shes missing out on something and do it too. And once the girls see any potential value in it, it will carry over to web cams, and any one of several thousand other outlets for this kind of activity.

Who ever these first girls are, we should probably focus a little more gratuity on them for inspiration and get the fire started.

I think the market will correct itself eventually, with respect to reused porn, because firstbits or qrcodes appearing fake will not get any donations from intelligent bitcoiners.
what an optimistic outlook I like it. Good point if your showing off your body anyway you might as well write a few characters on yourself and make some money while doing it.

I see I have 4 subscribers in /r/GirlsGoneBitcoin... Identify yourself to get mod status. I've never done this before. You'll be required to be a pimp and recruit girls from /r/gonewild or anywhere else you can think of.
Interesting I didnt know anyone could create there own image board and become a mod of it.

I think the bounty needs to be reworded to sound less confusing. It needs to be as simple and straight forward as possible to set up a wallet. Right now what you have down is looking good. I think it shoud also be restarted in the bounty thread.

edit: see you reformatted the bounty description its looking better now.

I updated the how does this work? These changes should make it less confusing

How does this work?
Bitcoins are a digital currency. Before you can get bitcoins you need a wallet. After you have a Bitcoin wallet and a Bitcoin Address, take a sexy picture of yourself holding a QR code of your Bitcoin address. Alternately you can write you first bits on your body. If someone likes your sexiness, they'll send you Bitcoins. It's that easy! Once you have some Bitcoins, you can exchange them for dollars, or buy things with them.
(bold is what I added, coping the description I lost your hyperlinks but really only you need to do is copy in my changes if you approve)
254  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 28, 2012, 12:29:45 AM
I just can't help but think... once a couple girls figure this out.... shit is going to go through the roof.

I can see a fair amount of girls doing it. BUT how many bitcoin users visit reddit for porn? If they dont  get enough coins/views it might die out over time.

I know you can require it but there first bits should really be written on there body or on a paper otherwise to many images are going to be reused. (someone mentioned this problem earlier i believe?)

could you put lines around all text boxes?

I see borders around text boxes.
Firefox 4.01
using FF 11.0

Its strange because I get the lines around text boxes and red error messages on dev.glbse.com but not on glbse.com

The error message box should be red too. I think it was red in the 0.2 dev? Its easy to not notice the error and think the site is broken.
259  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [PROPOSAL] Alpacastocks.com on: March 25, 2012, 11:27:14 PM
alpacas were on sunday morning today.

Quote
You start with 2 females of reasonable quality, at say an average price of $5,000 each in year one. You mate the 2 females to a quality male and at the end of the year you have 2 new cria. The females are re-mated and at the end of the second year they have 2 more cria and so on. Then, the first cria should be ready to mate at around one year old producing its first cria at the end of the third year.In 5 years you could expect to turn your 2 animals into 13 animals. You would also expect to generate $42,000 from your $10,000 investment.
They can be agisted (housed and fed) for $12 per animal per week. Plus vet bills and shots etc - this is why you need some reserve over the cost of purchase.
So grasshillalpacas would keep and raise them on there land?

$32000 over 5 years from a $10k investment looks good, and I would expect the next 5years to be even better. It would be less then that as well $12/week/alpaca + vet bills I would guesstimate your profit closer to $25000 over 5 years. At the current price it looks like 2500BTC would need to be raised to start. Kind of a big hurtle to reach. How much are you planning on putting out yourself?

Last where can I get that alpaca bitcoin T-shirt in the powerpoint?
