241  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - now with BFI_INT optimization on: May 25, 2011, 05:07:55 PM
This crashes my computer when I tell it to stop mining.  I have an Nvidia 550gtx ti card.  It makes my computer reboot itself when I click "Stop mining", does it every time.

Poclbm (Opencl) or RPC - CUDA  miner used ?

Opencl is what I am using.

Edit: Tried it again and it didn't reboot the computer this time, but it made the screens go black for a few seconds.  I may have to use this on another computer when I network them together because mining drastically harms my frame rates when I am trying to play Rift at the same time as mining.

try to reinstall your drivers.
242  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can a 850PSU cut it for 3 5870's? on: May 25, 2011, 12:20:46 AM
3 5870s on a sempron system with a single hard drive and a buncha fans use less than 600Watts while mining with the memory clocks turned down. Potentially under 500Watts but I don't have equipment sophisticated enough to fully test that yet so I wouldn't recommend it. A quality 650Watt PSU is all you need. 850 could run 4 or potentially more 5870s.

thank you very much

As long as it's a GOOD PSU, like a Corsair TX series, Seasonic, etc, then yeah, you should be fine.  A Rosewill 850w probably won't cut it.

Yea I was specifically thinking about a Corsair TX 850watt one.

Currently running 1 5870 in my computer, plan to slap in 2 more and upgrading psu instead of building a rig until I decide if I would like to build another dedicated rig. Was wondering if people have done it and ran stable powering 3 5870's with 850 watt psu.

Thank you very much guys! I will probably run my future rig caseless on a mobo tray and just slap fans where needed, so no case/space issues

grndzero, I can throw 3 5870's on that? Sorry I'm total hardware noob, I just get my friend to build everything, but he's not into the bitcoin thing so I have to do the research myself.
248  Bitcoin / Mining / Help me pick out a mother board on: May 23, 2011, 04:26:55 AM
Need some help picking out a cheap mother board that will take 3 5870s or 2 6990's and a 5870.
Trying to go the most economical route. Seen alot of recommendations for the MSI 890FX-GD70 but I would like to pay less than that if possible for the amount of cards I'd like to run.
Thanks all and I love the helpful community here.

250  Bitcoin / Mining / Slush's Pool acting funny? on: May 22, 2011, 11:04:18 AM
Let me start off with saying I am in no shape or form bashing Slush's pool. I just noticed I got disconnected from it on and off for about an hour. Sometimes it would say server maintence and other times it would give me the usual disconnected message. Anyone up late and mines in Slush's pool see anything weird?
251  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowering mem clock to idle speeds SPEEDS UP Mh/s on: May 22, 2011, 07:29:09 AM
I can't seem to edit the msiafterburner file. It won't let me save. I tried to uninstall Catalyst but anything that will install drivers for my card always has catalyst in it. Can one of you kind souls please link me to driver only without catalyst along with the package? Thank you very much in advance!
