Thanks. Exante, a Malta-based broker will now provide a means to investors to take long or short Bitcoin positions and trade shares using its Automatic Trading Platform (ATP). Thus, becoming the first of its kind, Exante which also became the first to introduce the world’s first Bitcoin-only hedge fund last March is all set to promote the crypto-currency for traders. So since a week ago, you can now short Bitcoin on their account.

You _could_ short on BFX, routing to Bitstamp, but Bitstamp market depth is nothing like Gox, so....
Yeah, that's why I mentioned >1k BTC. You can't really short in any meaningful way.

Today you can go to http://bitcoinfund.eu/ Account minimum is US$1Mil, though they are reputedly lowering it for Bitcoin only accounts. I see how I can buy, not how I can short... Account min was wrong above: Minimum Account size with EXANTE EUR 100,000. Minimum Bitcoin Fund transaction size EUR 10,000 If you want to short, call them up. Or you can do it the penny-ante way and borrow from coinlenders at a high rate. Again, I saw that, but I still don't see if they offer any kind of shorting.

Keep in mind that there are ETF's and BTC lenders now. So, Bitcoins can be borrowed and sold short in a numerous ways.
Ok, say I want to short more than 1k BTC, where do I go?

I found this little gem on reddit: Not worth selling with current price.

Something doesn't seem right. Market depth is so heavily in favour of buy with 1k moving us down 1 dollar or up 5 dollars. I'm holding, as usual I remember it was the same during the whole of the 2011 bear market. Cool story bro. You realize most of us are just trying to prevent you from having the same pain we did?
I'm holding, as usual Of course you are. Here, may this help you :

just a status update: mtgox is breaking through the about 1k BTC bid wall at 82 right now. (bitstamp is trailing behind)
We are now mentioning 1k "wall". How low have we fallen?

If frozenlock or Rampion didn't make their occasional statements of believing in BTC (and you don't read the thread often enough), you could think they or me, etc. are really bears.
I can be somehow trolly with my bear position, but I'm pretty sure most here are long term Bitcoin supporters. Like Blitz said, if we're not having fun, what's the point?
Try investing them, there's still plenty of opportunities around.
I hold a lot of bitcoin bought at 108$ and they're making profit, having produced 30% more coins within about 1 month timeframe. Unless the market is falling beyond prediction i won't sell'em.
I don't see what could go wrong. (BTW, in 1 month Bitcoin lost more than 30%)
That I bought most of my coins over $100 dollars and haven't sold any yet? A couple of 'sure things' for a BTC or two but overall, long. I'm very contrarian to this bear forum.
You are also contrarian to the price. Come to the bear side, you'll lose much less money.

But if I feed them now, they will forget how to get food and die in the winter!
Can we just crash to 50 already. Sheesh! What's with all the dramatics? I was promised panic selling Bulls want to make sure this downtrend is long and nasty. They don't like to see the price going up.
"Surely we can't go lower than this!"
Remember the 1089 wall @ $89 that vanished? Well now we have a 1087 wall @ $87.
What I have regretted is that I didn't sell at around $20 in 2011. If I had, I would have a lot more money now.
I know that feel...
How does that push up (or down) the price? It was obviously a failed (at no loss) attempt to freak people out, then return the wall once the asks fill in.
Ok, say I put a 2k wall at $89. If you want to buy, you are most likely to put your bids before me, so >$89. Before long, there's a bunch of little orders going up to say $91. Now I move my wall to $90. Again, you are most likely to put your bids before me. Doing this repeatedly, you can prop up the price of a few dollar and sell higher. Once you are out, just remove your wall. There's also this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=60501.msg736626#msg736626
