241  Bitcoin / Hardware / NEW ASIC 10 Giga hash / sec Bitcoin miner - anybody interested ? on: July 31, 2013, 06:29:56 PM

Hi, it seems that USB miner proposed in the other thread is not going to happen because high difficulty will punish small devices.

Nevertheless - it might still be interesting to have another small mining device - around 10 Ghash per sec.

The most important thing is to stay competitive and help spreading mining power around the world.

So the question is :

If you are going to buy one, what price would be reasonable at the end of August ?

Please note this is not a preorder, just a survey of interest.

Hi, quick workaround:
* using older drivers (12.10 worked on Linux for me) : http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/previous/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx
* little patch - file : oclengine.c
Code:
                        if (dvn && strstr(dvn, "cl_amd_media_ops"))
                                quirks |= VG_OCL_AMD_BFI_INT;

                        dvn = vg_ocl_device_getstr(vocp->voc_ocldid,
                                                   CL_DEVICE_NAME);
                        if (!strcmp(dvn, "Tahiti") || !strcmp(dvn, "Pitcairn"))
                                quirks &= ~VG_OCL_AMD_BFI_INT;
                        if (!strcmp(dvn, "ATI RV710")) {
                                quirks &= ~VG_OCL_OPTIMIZATIONS;
                                quirks |= VG_OCL_NO_BINARIES;
                        }

Thanks to all for ideas.
I was thinking about something similar to erk's sub 10Gh/s market.
Seems like 1BTC(or 99 usd, or max. 50 USD per Gh/s) for 2Ghash/s USB device would be a good price.
Hopefully I can provide an update with some good news after a week.
Let's see what we can do with time to market Wink

I believe everybody here is trying to help. Possibly some individuals are spreading FUD ( see wiki Fear Uncertainity and Doubt ), but I believe their trust level ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=115200 ) speaks for itself

Edit : and this must be the reason, why wise forum operators included ignore button ( [ DO NOT POST SESC LINKS ] DO NOT POST SESC LINKS [/url]  Wink

yes, I want to use Bitfurys.
Chip should use less than 1W per GH so 5V * 0.5A can 'allow' to have more than 2.5G hash per sec.
That is for USB 2.0 (USB 3.0 can be nearly 2x that, and USBx.x not powered properly - e.g. tied to computer's 5V rail .... then .... Wink

I can send couple, I did that already against paypal. It requires trust on both sides. Do not be scared with my short history here, I follow bitcoin for 3 years already.

please try to point your miner to any p2pool node from list here ( try order by Latency first, check 0% fee )

p2pool-nodes.info

use your bitcoin wallet as username, try any random password, then after a while you can check
at the node graphs your stats

Hi community,

I'm a Linux hacker interested in meeting like minded folks and bringing bitcoin technology to everybody.

I'm currently working on a new and cheap hw design for ASIC chips, I had a bit of experimenting with p2pool and gpu minig over last years.

Thank you for your attention, Godspeed !
