241  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Angry threat from BitStamp. Put myself in danger or they'll steel my money. on: October 19, 2014, 06:05:27 AM

I don't see any mention of the OP not being able to withdraw any balance until then. All the email from stamp says is that the OP has 28 days to provide identification or all the funds in the account will be forfeited. Since it does not say anything to the contrary I would assume that they would allow you to continue to trade, deposit and withdraw until then (IDK why anyone would want to trade or deposit).

The email also says that the OP was given multiple warnings prior to this message

Quite right.  And in the real world, in a foreign bank I had the same thing happen.  The bank said that due to recent money-laundering laws, I had to provide more ID for myself or I could not withdraw my money, which I had placed there with little ID years before.  I tried to fight them but in the end I had to provide the ID.

The real question though, is why on earth would you even consider, jokingly or not, trying to do something that would scam people out of their money?

Maybe I'm a white hat scammer?  Somebody who calls out potential scams so that you don't fall into them? :-)
243  Other / Meta / Re: I can has banned? on: October 19, 2014, 05:58:23 AM

moderation here is a joke and we need a new site guys.. this place is a scammers protected

Hey I clicked on the link underlined and nothing happened!  Where is the new site?  And I bet you are a poor troll too, with all the swearing at anonymous strangers you will never meet in person...haha so typical.  Don't worry, I didn't report you to the moderators since I know how much you enjoy being here and it would crush you if you were banned again.  ;-)
244  Other / Meta / Re: Why do members here have so few posts? One theory on: October 19, 2014, 05:52:19 AM
Option 0. You've got logorrhea.

Just kidding, but indeed many users post much less, and many of your posts are just questions in existing threads without significant contributions. That's ok for a newbie as long as it's not essentially spamming to get higher activity score. To me it looks still reasonable.

Onkel Paul

What are the benefits of a higher activity score, Onkel Paul?  And does this site accept bitcoin?  Maybe we can donate to it, unless some rich person is already funding it?  I think it's owned by some Bitcoin foundation, so they're probably OK with adequate money.
245  Other / Meta / Re: Why do members here have so few posts? One theory on: October 19, 2014, 05:50:13 AM

Posting 14 times per day is reasonable right..? My posting frequency was 14 per day for a few month until I got pretty busy and can't post that much. I spend more time lurking around the forum now.

But you have, says your profile to the left of this post, "168" "activity".  So if you posted 14 times a day, that would mean in 168/14 = 12 days you would get to 168.  That's not "for a few month".  This is what is confusing me.

How have you been here only a week but your account was created in March 2013? It sounds a lot like you purchased your account.

Why would anybody purchase an account?  I guess to step into the shoes of somebody... maybe to get Hero or Legend status?  What does it take to become a hero or legend?  Time or number of posts?

248  Other / Meta / Why do members here have so few posts? One theory on: October 18, 2014, 01:54:17 PM
I have only been here less than a week, and have about 117 posts.  Yet I notice I am way ahead of some others, and even "hero" and "legendary" users have only a few hundred posts (with a few exceptions, like one guy with over 1000 posts).  Still, if I have 117 posts in a few days of activity, that means one of two things (well three things):

0.  I post like crazy, like a person who has verbal diarrhea. I don't think that's the case though.

1.  Most posters here are laconic, meaning they use few words, possibly because they are privacy freaks and are afraid of giving away their identity if they post too much.  So they don't post that much, or, they use different handles and when they exceed 100 posts they kill their user ID and begin anew (I find this hard to believe).

2.  The moderators here are overzealous and will ban you eventually, no matter who you are, and you have to create a new identity.

Any ideas?
249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Send a noob 0.00000001 BTC? What info do I need to provide? on: October 18, 2014, 01:49:16 PM

You understand correctly. He is publishing the private keys so that anyone can spend the bitcoins they contain. Unfortunately, the cost of sending the coins is greater than the value of the coins.

I'm curious why deepceleron has so many of these addresses.

can you combine private keys in your wallet?  If you have 1500 small BTC amounts, can you combine them to make one big BTC amount?  I am using Armory wallet, not online.
250  Other / Meta / Re: what was your ban reason ? on: October 18, 2014, 01:37:14 PM
i have been banned a bunch of times and worst of all is i have to guess why later..

I wonder, does this have anything to do with it? (found under your handle here):

didnt you post this shit on litecointalk too?  Good luck.  Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Oh BTW, only drink the kool-aid from the blue cups.  Yeah the blue cups.

This threads sounds funny.  I wish I had some background.  Blue cups?  Like blue pill vs red pill?

Here's a transaction fee's worth of private keys with 0.00001 BTC on each then. As long they are going to be spent, I've got 1500+ more...

L2EVNG16Srurcze6uiVrBu8Mp6QEGUhq3NjdG3dp14yUyxBPRKKP

How , what , who, What?  How you dat?  What dat?  I thought you only are supposed to post public keys, so called "bitcom addresses"?  Then people send you BTC to this bitcom address, I guess signing it with your public key, and only you can decrypt it and spend the BTC sent.  If I import these private keys, doesn't that mean somebody can also import these private keys, spend them first, and thus double spend this amount, and I will be left with nothing?  This stuff is confusing, just when I thought I understood Bitcoin...
253  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market cap of Bitcoin sure is tiny...just sayin' on: October 18, 2014, 07:34:33 AM
eh there at least 3~5 orders of magnitude left for btc to grow into

3 orders of magnitude is 1000.  So if BTC is $400 today it will be worth $400 000 a coin then.  Five orders is 100000, so btc will be worth $40,000,000 a coin.  Forty million a coin!!!  I will be rich with my tenth of a BTC coin holdings!
Some people think that is rich and some don't. Some people are not happy without many billions. Someday it will be trillions. Besides, he said 3-5, not absolutely 5.

In today's money, 400k a btc --that's three orders of magnitude--is rich by anybody's definition.  However, if we are assuming hyperinflation in the future, then taking about the price of btc is meaningless, since an apple will cost a million dollars and so on.

I myself bought more bitcoin recently...so I can spend it with certain btc merchants that sell products and services I like.  I do have some btc for speculation but that's not the only focus for me.  Good luck!

255  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory, Bitcoin Core take a long long time to install: 48 hours + (BTC = null;) on: October 18, 2014, 05:37:45 AM

You could do the entire process without moving the swap file, and you'd end up with a copy of your system as is, on a different physical unit. Since you intent to move to a SSD, you should get rid of swapping on that drive if you have the RAM to afford it. That or move your swap to the HDD.

I prefer to move the swap file after I do the clone from HD to SSD.  Also, this article from the superuser site says even if you have no HD, and only an SSD (which I do not, as I will have both), it's OK to leave the swap file in place in the SSD (see the accepted answer):  http://superuser.com/questions/51724/should-i-keep-my-swap-file-on-an-ssd-drive

Thanks for your help!

Too late, some one take this idea and make a PRO version:

http://bitcoinvanitygen.com/

One of our bettors at Luckyb.it lost 4 bitcoins creating a custom addy with that service.

Yes, case in point...how do these "vanity addresses" work?  Isn't this idea ripe for being scammed as I describe?

Ah yes, I found out, and indeed the generation of a public vanity address can lead to a scam of the kind I state:  https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/get-custom-bitcoin-address/
257  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does sig campaigns work exactly? on: October 17, 2014, 05:45:34 PM
???hi everybody i am here with yet another one of my newbies questions. Huh
i thank you all for responding to me  Roll Eyes

well whenever someone asks how to get some BTC there is this common answer to joins some sig. camp.
so How exactly does signature campaigns work?
you just put the link they give you inside you sig. area and do your usual postings?
or
you have to post about them, i mean like advertising?

I have no idea but what you suggest sounds very plausible.  It's like clicking on some Like button 1000 times and getting a Satoshi reward.

...saying the obvious.  http://blockchain.info/charts/market-cap  (US $ 5 Billion market cap is peanuts)

Long on BTC however.  But if this ever goes mainstream, we will all be rich.  If...

Some sites let you create addresses showing a pvt key input and hash160 I think its just to verify algorithms and for informational purposes only..

Maybe...that explains the link I cited...perhaps it was just a programmer's aid for coming up with legal Bitcoin addresses.
