241  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptsy (Warning!) on: December 15, 2013, 02:33:21 AM
Contact BigVern through twitter and he will deal with it asap mate (https://twitter.com/cryptsy)
He helped me out also few days ago

Just by reading and replying to that avalanche of twitts he won't be able to have any time for actually solving the issues
There are problems at cryptsy and the people working there are overwhelmed at the moment.

242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 15, 2013, 02:30:33 AM
he not have 2FA enabled. and I post here 100% truth. you can trust me or not it fine.

the hacker sold ALL his QRK. and try to transfer 10BTC out his account. the transaction still in pending mode right now.

I think this is why Cryptsy stop all withdraws (and even deposits)

Do you honestly think Cryptsy will stop all transactions for one account? Why not only block that withdraw till you clear things up.
I'm more worried this will end like an inputs.io hack and run.
243  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will Litecoin ever see prices above 40 again on: December 15, 2013, 02:28:12 AM
Litecoin ASIC's came out recently in China, imagine how easily they could 51% attack Litecoin with a few of those at this point if they wanted to just end it. Likely they're just milking it for profit but it just goes to show the potential instability.

source please? It's the first time that I see such a statement

He's probably talking about stuff like this:

Just rumors at this moment.
244  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What Else Could You do With Mining Hardware? on: December 15, 2013, 02:26:56 AM
OK, thanks!

Could you use purpose built miners that mine bitcoin, to mine other coins like Litecoin?

No ,an  Asic designed for bitcoin can mine only sha265 coins.
Lite coin is using the scrypt algorithm.
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency - many coin - wow - v1.1 Released on: December 15, 2013, 02:22:47 AM
very very doge
3rd in capitalisation after 1 month after BTC and LTC =)

Care to back this with some numbers?
Altough the 3rd place means nothing , it's just made there so it's not too hard for the people on the first spot to climb up the podium.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I make a coin? on: December 15, 2013, 02:20:11 AM
We need a thread that deals with killing clone coins rather than making new ones.
Copycats are just bad for the environment , we need real new coins with some advantages , not tweaks on Bitcoin

You worry too much, you should encourage people to explore bitcoin's code and learn more about it. Yes, there will be a bunch of random clones, but there will also be people who will have new and innovative ideas.

Python is really not that complicated to learn for people who are willing to put forth the time and effort.

I think people should be able to freely clone and edit the source with as much ease as possible, it will encourage people to create niche coins for their own online websites and applications.

There's enough room online in the crypto world for more than just Bitcoin.

Yeah , people can explore the bitcoin node , and it's something they should do
But people shouldn't copy the code , replace bit with world cat beer junk , premine at least 20% , give 1% in giveaway on bitcointalk , and pay around 10 shills for support on the board.

Also , each coin is drawing hashpower from others , making all of them weaker.

247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy made coins disappear -- what should I do? on: December 15, 2013, 02:17:05 AM
I just withdrew some bitcoins from cryptsy - no issue whatsoever. I hope losing coins is just a rare occurrence.

When did you do that?
Cause there are a lot of people who have experienced this problem just today.
248  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Monarch on: December 15, 2013, 02:16:02 AM
Bullshit.

Post your references that makes you believe it is 4 weeks, otherwise I call Bullshit/False hope.

There isn't a single manufacturer out there who can have their chips pop out of the factory in 4 weeks. Especially at 28nm.
Right there in the monarch information thread:  https://forums.butterflylabs.com/announcements/4414-monarch-information.html

If they haven't taped out then I would certainly agree with you.  But I'm not sure why you would assume this hasn't happened.

Wait , you trust an announcement made by BFL , and you are still sane enough to type on this forum?
Something doesn't add up.
BFL won't ship till the 1 of April , and that's no prank  , it;s custom practice.

Just go and fill your hardware here and you might get a better answer than clueless assumptions.

I do not pay for electricity Tongue

Either your parents or your family do , or you already pay a rent in which the electric bill will be included.
Let's talk about not paying for it when you plug a few dozen 1200KW miners and run them 24h.

thanks for the amazing link.

Of course be ware that since lots of people watch those graphs , they decide to switch mining , so the numbers won't be accurate in the next 12 hours.

252  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How often do you restart the computer your mining on? on: December 15, 2013, 02:06:31 AM
I wouldn't say  never.
I haven't  done it since I started mining with the new gear in early November but probably I'll get a few forced restarts.
253  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quick test if your Windows pc has been hacked. on: December 15, 2013, 02:04:40 AM
This is a quick tip for anyone using a Windows pc. My computer got hacked last week and if I had known it then I'd be richer.

I know this is probably common knowledge among tech types but I did not know it until too late.

1) Log into your Windows pc.

2) Create a second user without admin privileges.

3) restart.

4) Log into your regular account.

5) Look at the start button in the lower left.

6) Go to Switch User and go to your non admin account.

7) Log out of the non admin account.

Cool Log back into the main account.

9) Without moving the mouse or anything else, if you notice something different in the start button you should be worried.

I'm sure this belongs in a different section, so move it. Also sure it is well known, but as I said before I did not know it.

Briefly the hack.

1) Someone emptied the 3 bitcoin I had at Blockchain into the wallet 1GFXKAYNo1Urm3HeaxgoWBPSG9MFUkWFDX

2) Then they emptied a litecoin wallet that I had lost the password for and had stored on my computer.

3) etc etc

In my initial paranoia I though adobe flash was used. Apparently it was not.

My suspicion also focused on Fireball who I have criticized a lot. But although he runs a crooked exchange he honestly does not seem to be the type to steal in this way.

It does seem likely the hacking is related to other altcoins. I've been on the internet since the 90s and was never hacked. Then I downloaded a bunch of weird coin wallets and within weeks got hit.

The hacker used ip address 109.120.153.223

No really , is this a joke?
Like post this message 7 times or you'll get hit by a falling air conditioner?

255  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will Litecoin ever see prices above 40 again on: December 15, 2013, 02:00:16 AM
Too many coins spread the infrastructure too thin for all coins. Coins are heavily dependent on people keeping up the hash rate high and rising to support increased usage. When people pull out of litecoin because the next TardoCoin comes along it weakens that and causes some coins to start to fade out. It would help out of people did not release coins that really bring nothing new to the table but at this point I don't think there's any stopping it.

Doge coin is worth $900k usd now. It was created as a complete joke to actually mock Chinese pump and dump schemes and look what happened instead? People started buying it up and treating it like something real. That in itself, made it real. It just shows how desperate people that missed the train are to hope and prey they can get on an alt coin train instead.

In the end, I think Litecoin will die out. There can really only be one coin, only one can survive ultimately. Soon as this alt coin fad blows over it will just be Bitcoin left standing for the most part (unless someone really puts something captivating in to play). While Litecoin offers some interesting changes I don't think they are substantial enough to take over the space.

Litecoin ASIC's came out recently in China, imagine how easily they could 51% attack Litecoin with a few of those at this point if they wanted to just end it. Likely they're just milking it for profit but it just goes to show the potential instability.

That's my opinion.

While I agree with the clone dying out , there are a few who might survive.
Namecoin has a purpose , the .bit domains.
Prime coin , although it may turn worthless in term of price , it can survice as a hobby for searching prime numbers.
The rest , trash can.
Look at quark how it lost 50% of the fans and they went to doge.
This will happen to the doge also when they switch to LLamacoin.

AltCoins are a speculator's dream! Grin

Altcoins are everybody dream of getting a Lambo like Goat did , but with some xcoin that they have mined while chatting on facebook.
258  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptsy (Warning!) on: December 15, 2013, 01:54:47 AM
Something is not wrong.
Threads with problems with Cryptsy pop up like mushrooms , there are 6 on the last updates page and much more on the last 5 pages.

It seems they are overwhelm at this moment and this is not good , especially since x-mas is coming.

260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 15, 2013, 01:49:57 AM
Reason for the crash yesterday:

One of my friend account, who has 50,000 QRK, was hacked yesterday. all QRK sold.

his computer got antivirus and his email with google so no virus at his end.

50,000 not enough to crash the market but I think there a chance Cryptsy got hacked.

One , of your friends who HAD 50 000 QRK.
Also , if Cryptsy was hacked , I doubt the hacker would have just sold 50 000 qrk and left.
Most probable your friend had a weak password.

Also , if 50000 QRK can crash the market , this is no good.
