nxt has a very robust documented api set... you can do a lot with its data storage system using messages or data itself.

After using the Multigateway in the Supernet Plugin, I don't want use poloniex and btc38 anymore.... Taken from:https://nxtforum.org/lite-multigateway-releases/supernet-nrs-plugin-v1-0/Is this technically considered one of the first 3rd party Dapp (Decentralized App) that sits on top of a 2.0 blockchain since you don't need to goto a website? Thoughts? How is this compared to a Ethereum Dapp if it were the do something similar?

problem with that is where is the data stored? its great for verification. but if it doesn't exists anywhere. its kinda useless imo.

NXT nodes, such as anyone running the server/client software has the option to disable the 2 week purge feature. By doing this you would be an "archival node" keeping old purged data. By default the server/client has it set at 2 week purge. Once the files have been purged the only thing kept would be the hash of the file for verifying the original file (something like proof of existence). As for archival nodes, in the future they can choose to charge a "fee" to get old data in order to create an incentive for people to keep large amounts of data.
I'm not sure how the other decentralized storage systems are doing. Can you shed some light on that? Storj / MainSafe / etc.
Is there a block explorer or something that shows how many archival nodes exist and the amount of data they hold? the file storage feature is only about 1 month old so i doubt there is a block explorer out yet that provides this data.

nxt seems to be the only only one with an active community and frequent updates with a production ready file storage system... it's a hidden gem not everyone is paying attention to...
Thanks for that information. I wasn't aware of NXT implementing a data storage feature. It does seem to be more suited for short term storage however since it says that files are purged after two weeks although the part about certain nodes having the "purge" feature off is confusing. Does this mean that some nodes will retain uploaded files forever? One thing I've noticed when syncing with NXT is that it's a relatively fast process since the last time I checked, the NXT blockchain was only about 300 MB in size. Personally, I'd like it to stay that way. I wonder where these files will be located then. If it's going to be on the blockchain then the option to store files should be made optional at least. Clearinghouse's (Viacoin blockchain) notary system...? Not sure tho. I never bothered trying it. But you can try it thru Clearwallet https://clearwallet.coThanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely look into this one as well. NXT nodes, such as anyone running the server/client software has the option to disable the 2 week purge feature. i was into datacoin too. but doesn't look like it will survive due to the lack of an active community... nxt seems to be the only only one with an active community and frequent updates with a production ready file storage system... it's a hidden gem not everyone is paying attention to. file storage:

NXT also has another wallet solution where you can use the online NXT client from: www.jnxt.org/nxt --- login with your NXT account (not using your pass) Then do what you need to do with your account, like sending coins to someone. Then sign and broadcast your NXT transaction using the mobile wallet by scanning the QR code on the monitor. Using "NXTVAULT"... its like a cold wallet solution for nxt. Your passphrase is never exposed to the client computer. The computer can be infected with keyloggers or trojans and it wont matter. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jay.nxtvaultI haven't seen any other altcoin setup something like this. The Bitcoin equivalent to this is using Armory Wallet on 2 computers. One Armory computer does the transaction and you copy that transaction information onto a usb drive, then you connect that to your offline Armory computer to do the signing and copy it back to the online computer to do the broadcasting so your private key is never exposed. It's a bit cumbersome, but its as safe as it gets. Now on NXT your passphrase ONLY exists on your Android phone using NXTvault and you sign the transaction by scanning the QR code on the screen and broadcast using your phone only. Your NXT passphrase never gets exposed. Ultra safe imo...

I have been watching the market for about 12 months now and in particular with the NXT platform.
The whole crypto market seems like a massive pump and dump scene. Prices go up 20% then fall then do they same again.
Will it ever leave this stage? The NXT tech side is great but seems like no one is actually using it. They are just bag holders hoping for to become millionaires.
Would love a response to this question as well. People only seem to reply when someone with a reputation posts on this forum.

Goldman + Muppets == Ethereum Your glitter guy post reminded me of this piece of work someone did when the Ethereum IPO was on. I'm not saying Ethereum was originally intended to be a blatant scam, but it's beginning to look worse and worse after each new delay to the project. It will be interesting to see if the end result was worth investing in. nice one... got a good lol on that...

This thread is a joke right? Its so funny it should be stickied. NXT was a scam and stil is. all the coins went to less then 30 people.. that's a scam
must be a pretty good elaborate scam i gotta say since its been going for almost 2 years. they just keep on cranking out code every month. im not sure what to think.

make that 7th place and ripple shouldn't be on that list anymore having that they need to collect KYC.

ur right. nxt can be a shitcoin ... i'm not buying the coin neither, but on the paying dividends of nxt assets, i rather buy that then sell it to btc.
there! dont buy the coin... buy into the platform via its assets as they pay dividends themselves.

Taken from the other thread:
For someone who's spent time in other echo chambers, here's the killer argument against the claim that Nxt is a scam:
Marketing.
In addition to their, uh, ethical deficits, scammers and con artists always have one thing in common: they're very slick marketers. That's a constant - a very reliable behaviour pattern.
Now tell me, and tell me true instead of weaselling around: does this behavior patter match the guys in Nxt's inner circle?
I don't know about you, but I've read a lot of complaints about Nxt's marketing being less than what it should be. Those complaints drop the dime on the claim of Nxt being a scam: producing solid technical innovations but suboptimal marketing shows the opposite of the behavior pattern of a con artist.
Another behavior pattern of scammers is their short-term orientation. Even if they have a business that could really go places, they lack the patience to build it up. Instead, they jet off and run another scam.
Does this match the behavior pattern of the inner-circle Nxters? No, it doesn't. All of them have stuck with Nxt for well over a year - through a time when NXT's price was essentially going nowhere satoshi-wise.
The behavior patterns don't match. Smiley

when is nxt anonymity feature coming out and how does it work? any ideas yet?

Seems like you have a mistake there or it was left out intentionally to trick newcomers to nxt? i'm curious to what motives some of these trolls have... obviously they are using sock puppet accounts and their real account is another name. Possible motives to FUD on nxt?

i wonder how much the devs get paid....
|
|
|
what proof is there that they dumped the coins?
anyone have stats on how much they are paying their devs since its a "transparent" company? or is that info not public?

anyone have updates on Ethereum so far? haven't been following it lately, last i heard they were doing test and paying out bounties for people to break their system.
i think NXT is strategically waiting on Ethereum to see how they deal with smart contracts before moving into this space since its so new and untested.
