241  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox BTC withdrawal problem? on: August 31, 2011, 01:43:05 PM
When entering an amount below 1, remember to put a 0 in front.

.01 <- not valid

0.01 <- valid
242  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Mt. Gox signs with Verisign, who are Known Scammers according to Wikipedia on: August 31, 2011, 01:41:44 PM
Mt Gox, would you like to impress us with your security related efforts? Than do ISO 27001 audit certification and maintain it in a good standing. Or something similar to that.

Slapping some image on the website and getting a port scan once or twice a day at a cost of 100$ a year is really nothing more than a marketing ploy to woo unwashed masses.

The announce wasn't written by me, and is a bit misleading. The important part is not the seal (it's just a picture on a site, that's nothing I can care about). The important part is the EV certificate and all that means.

We'll get that reworded a bit tomorrow.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Insane amount of bitcoins on: August 31, 2011, 12:51:19 PM
Talking of such, does someone know exactly how MagicalTux calculates the BTC price, How do dark pools come into play?
We don't have dark pools anymore. We are using IOC/iceberg instead.
244  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX International Wire Deposit on: August 30, 2011, 10:29:22 AM
Hi,

Does anyone know how much time it takes for the mtgox account to get credited after the international wire is cleared from bank (which takes 2-3 days)?

I just did 300$ international wire, hence would like to know when will the funds be credited.

Edit: Do I need to mail mtgox about this transfer?

It usually take a couple of hours if your bank is a good bank.

If it's not, ask them to know how long it takes.
245  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How does Mt. gox sell the BTC's they've earned? on: August 30, 2011, 10:28:39 AM
Don't they earn btc's from every trade as well as USD?

Are they the huge 25k dumps we always see or do they do it slowly in the background?

Just wondering.

We don't sell those BTC.

Instead we use those (for example for bitomat).
246  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX PROBLEM - Sold BTC was never credited USD - Check YOUR History on: August 30, 2011, 10:28:09 AM
Ouch. Somebody should teach them about this novel database concept called a "transaction".
DDoS or not, it should simply be impossible for something like this to happen.

We use transactions. Somehow mysql committed on its own some transactions while it shouldn't have. We have fixed this and added some checks to prevent similar behaviour.
247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction not making it into blockchain on: August 21, 2011, 12:15:01 PM
It usually takes more than 24 hours for such transactions to be relayed and taken by someone who accept those, on condition your client is constantly connected and not behind a firewall.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC Withdraw PENDING? on mtgox? on: August 21, 2011, 12:13:58 PM
solved, turns out there's still a bug transferring from account to account on mtgox.

It's just a display bugs. The bitcoins are actually credited to the other account in realtime.
249  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What SCI should merchants use now that MyBitcoin is dead? on: August 21, 2011, 12:30:16 AM

What merchants should use, only they should know!
Well I did know. MyBitcoin was working fine for me. I really liked the fact it was basically the most powerful wallet service around. It was basically like PayPal in that you could do nearly everything with MyBitcoin alone. It was easy and efficient. But I guess they are also like PayPal in that they are complete scum bags. I'm just looking for some advice and alternative options that are said to be safe and reliable.

We have a (non documented) SCI currently being tested by some people. Contact me at admin@mtgox.com if you'd like to test and let us know what kind of features you need.

So far:

  • No fees
  • Ability to ask for payment in bitcoins
  • Single use link, or multiple use
  • Merchant data can be used and is passed back to the IPN
  • Ability to get a single bitcoin address instead of allowing user to login on mtgox. Deposits from mtgox are still instant, but the process can be made 100% whitelabel
250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone else find everything about MtGox is going Slow on: August 21, 2011, 12:27:17 AM
Excellent! Thank you very much who ever it was that read my post and sorted out my funds!

23:15GMT on Saturday evening my funds are credited to my account.

Maybe i should use the forums instead of suppport tickets in future.

anyway thank you.

The UK bank online service is often unavailable on fridays, for whatever reason. This forces us to process deposits from thursday and friday during the weekend.

Anyway processing was done and everything seems fine.
251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ATTN MTGOX] MINOR SELL BUG FOUND on: August 21, 2011, 12:17:17 AM
Some bug in the javascript,  I think it is fixed now (the 0.01 was only updated for buy and not for sell).
252  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MT GOX Sepa still not working on: August 20, 2011, 03:04:36 PM
Actually, we are processing all the SEPA withdraws right now.

We'll re-open deposits next week depending on appeal court decision.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It would be nice if Tradehill/Mtgox offered "virtual" debit cards tied to accts on: August 19, 2011, 03:37:58 AM
We got the AurumXChange debit card too Wink
254  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox fees still discounted, anyone know the status? on: August 11, 2011, 08:32:50 AM
Any specific reason?

Was too busy to put the fee back to normal, and we cannot just change it back to normal the next day and have everyone be troubled because they don't know exactly when it'll happen, so we just publish a new date with enough time for everyone to be ready.
255  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox fees still discounted, anyone know the status? on: August 11, 2011, 06:02:02 AM
Yep, we are adding one week.

It will end on 2011-08-16 23:59:59 GMT exactly.
256  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox Just Cost me $180 in the time it took to log in. on: August 11, 2011, 06:01:02 AM
if you really wanted to sell at $12, you could have put in an order yesterday.

I dare say my hindsight is as powerful as yours Smiley Who knew what it was going to today. The point is - you should be able to log into that site at any time in under a minute, not 10-15 like it took to log in + add a trade

And with the fee that we are paying for the trades, they have enough money to do this!
We do, and we do.

Only case is if you are attacking MtGox, our ddos protection service (prolexic) will slow you down/block you.
257  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MT GOX Sepa still not working ? on: August 11, 2011, 05:53:22 AM
The transaction wont be reversed per-se, but you will lose any euros you recieved due to confiscation (even if you are innocent), as well as any goods or services you sent out in return.

It depends on a lot of things. In some cases your bank is forced to reverse the transaction.

Also most of the fraudulent funds we have received so far are in the range of 200~600 euro, mostly because of our AML conditions which limit the maximum volume of exchanged funds.
258  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Wiki: Looking for administrators (step 1/2) on: August 11, 2011, 02:24:58 AM
As an Administrator, would we get email notifications on modifications to the Wiki?
If so, I'd be more then happy to help out.
If you want notifications on modifications, just subscribe to the recent changes RSS feed
259  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin Wiki: Looking for administrators (step 1/2) on: August 11, 2011, 12:39:59 AM
The Bitcoin wiki is in dire need of administrators to flush all the spam/bad stuff/etc and for themselves to nominate stewards who help new wiki users.

As the process is usually driven by the community (on wikipedia), we'll do something similar here too. This will be in two steps. First one is this post, where people willing to spend time fighting spam and improving the Wiki can post and explain why they are the best choice for this.

Depending on the number of candidates we will have more or less openings, but we need more than one new administrator anyway. This thread will be closed 24 hours after creation, at which point a new thread for voting will be open.

So remember, to apply you need to post:

  • Your login on the wiki
  • Your motivations, and why you think you are the best for this job
Current administrators
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Yubikey Problem on: August 10, 2011, 06:52:10 AM
I'm getting that now.

It'll send me back to the login page. Ticket lodged.

Make sure you're not pressing too long. We'll release a video soon showing how to use it properly.
