I am new here. Are most people here just pumping to try to get a profit, or are you guys really excited about this coin? I see a neat feature in anonymity and built in trading, but haven't all PoS coins done poorly up to this point? Why do you guys think this coin will really take off?
Can you see merchants accepting something called "cloakcoin", and for wide acceptance, isn't anonymity a hindrance? Isn't it sometimes useful to trace a transaction to verify it, and so forth? Will this coin be relegated to undergound dealings?
Anyway, maybe what I am asking is old hat, not sure. I am new to altcoins, been only a BTC guy.
Hey Eaten, Welcome to Cloak! Yeah actually PoS coins have a serious issue in the scheme that the Cloak developers recently identified. The fix will be kept internal for Cloak and will keep the coin from doing the random forking which is most associated with PoS coins. The transactions between the buyer/seller are the business of only the buy/seller. If I give you cash - that's between you and me. Same concept. AFAIK lots of business owners prefer cash to creditcards/checks because of it's liquidity and anonymity. I believe the same principals can be applied to merchants online. Underground dealings will happen regardless of what we do but Cloak would definitely be the currency of choice vs the other options out there for the underground. good on ya for welcoming the newcomers. nice with good vibes. |

Well no matter what is happening, clear and ongoing communication over the next hours as to the problem and prognosis are essential. That has been lacking the past 72 hrs with DRK and one can see the results.
(And please, no answers of "don't bother the devs, they are working hard as they can". This is PR 101, clear communication is 95% of the game in times of challenge.)

Sorry if this was already mentioned, but have you guys considered the legal implications of a decentralized market? Such as, when people list illegal items? It's not truly decentralized if someone would have the power to remove such items, so how would it be managed?
market would by managed by people... for example: if product reach 100 bad points from certified address (people), will be automatically removed... but i think central authority is necessary, but must be working for market good name (concurent fight), because i am sure in the future here will be more markets... yeah, you know who else was kicking up there feet in a storm about "no marketing"? wizkid with blackcoin. and he was a slave to the PnD groups. same kind of BS that people like Iconic Expert bring to the table.
1) Devs are furiously working in the kitchen cooking up a platform which will make us all money. We profit off of their work.
2) Whiny children are sitting at a 4 star restaurant complaining that their free meal isn't good enough, TAKE IT BACK GARCON!
3) While complaining, these children do absolutely nothing to help, and in fact only pollute the atmosphere by turning the discussion into FEAR, UNCERTAINTY, and DOUBT. Then they proceed to complain more.
4) Devs in a highly unorthodox move, leave the kitchen (and thereby delaying their work even further) to come and explain directly to YOU, the very simple reason that they are only HUMAN and are incredibly over-extended at the moment, not to mention have a looming deadline. You complain more. They point out that they've come further, faster, than pretty much any other coin in HISTORY. you scoff.
but don't worry, there's a happy ending to the tale.
5) you realise the error of your ways, go out back to the alley behind the restaurant, and fucking kill yourself

"go out back and kill yourself?" this in a nutshell is the most unfortunate aspect of these last few pages. the personal attacks on those who who are thoughtfully pointing out that open and ongoing communication are vital to maintaining a healthy interest in the coin, enough to attract and sustain new investors. to say nothing of stopping capital outflow. that you are demonizing and saying 'go fucking kill yourself' is completely unnecessary. |

Yeah, i tried telling them that in IRC, afraid they have the belief good product sells itself. Well, that's fine, i sold half my stash on that news knowing there was no marketing plan in place. Let's hope word of mouth really works, since all i can tell is that is what they expect to happen.  If you would check blackcoin and their Marketing campaign then you would know that marketing alone won't do a effect as well. What we need is more time to be noticed, this is not a Pump and Dump coin so be patient Not true, black hired a PR firm which was complete waste of money. There isn't really anything we need to pay for here to get people interested. Just look at vericoin and what they are doing on twitter daily and uncloaked themselves. I skype video chat or something professional like developers on webpage showing who they are, something done right like that would raise prices and keep from slipping, even gain new investors. Developers should really consider doing some proactive marketing, which is nothing more than free stuff. We don't need to spend dime right now, but reassure people outside of BTC talk about this coin. This coin is nothing to most people, why? They have no idea what is being created here, or what cloakcoin is doing with tech and anon. Heck, most have no clue there are 4 full time developers and 2 part time. Stuff like this is not tweeted or presented enough, and in early stages you need to have a plan when prices slip, to keep people interested with updates on twitter. Search twitter for vericoin, and tons of things come up, cloakcoin on twitter just a handful of people, including me post about it. I would hope one of the developers would take the lead and uncloak themselves or activelly take over twitter and update there almost daily. Little bit goes a long way in these markets. Well, looks like anyone with more than a few BTC is now trapped in the coin, nobody to buy. All or nothing now what a thrill!
No comments on patch progress or potential 2.0 delay still? Don't be like cinni coin.. They started out with great community support then totally fell apart at the first technical challenge.
We had a lot of noise about the cloaktrade feature which still does not work a few days after launch. Has any progress been made? Never fails to amaze me, how much value can go up in smoke when just a solid, open line of communication can prevent capital flight. Say what you want about the DRK board, they have had loads of 'challenges' (setbacks) but the board is updated several times daily by devs themselves. I know the devs are hard at work, but this is also an integral part of any startup venture. This bitcoinforum thread is not the only source of info- i agree that devs shall update it reguraly but you can follow other channels - it cant be very difficult- here for you the last tweet re: update which was 15 hours ago https://twitter.com/CryptoPioneer/status/482631444242907137its sad that most of the people are day traders who just want quick bucks and will jump on any opportunity to feast. Let me ask you- what are you doing for the community- did you even bother to check the donation address for the devs as they didn't have any premine or IPO like other scam coins, forget about actually donating some for their hard work. There is a clear roll for the quick buck folks in any coin.They are the booster rockets that get the coin into orbit. The casual distaste people feel free to express about traders is quite misplaced. As for observation, asking me what i am 'doing for the community' is a non sequitur. I am simply pointing out that one tweet in 15 hours is not sufficient to prevent capital flight during a critical startup phase. The market is saying this quite clearly.
