241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] HyperStake | High PoS | Secure | MultiSend | liteStake | Adv Coin Control on: June 11, 2015, 02:23:43 PM
Another interesting and pertinent post from Presstab re: HyperStake being the 'Coin of the Week' on Supernet radio.

https://soundcloud.com/supernetradio/coin-of-the-week-episode-7-hyperstake-hyp

Interesting because it gives an an experienced person's view on the the parameters to successfully stake HYP.

Also, interesting because it highlights the Dashcoin (the original) vs Dash (formerly Darkcoin) controversy. Dashcoin(DSH) was mentioned as the 'coin to watch'. Dashcoin looks to be in pole position and seems to have a lot going for it by having Monero's core dev on board. Dirt cheap at the moment and creeping up, so I bought a couple of beer's-worth on the strength that it could go into orbit (XMR pairing on Poloniex).

Lot's of coins around with similar names e.g. HyperStake, Hyper and HyperCoin. HyperStake stands out for me!
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DSH] Dashcoin (Cryptonote, automated source) on: June 11, 2015, 10:37:53 AM
If anyone is wondering about the recent surge of interest in Dashcoin, here is one of the reasons - a SuperNet radio broadcast on the 'Coin of the Week'. Although HyperStake was the said coin of the week, Dashcoin was the only other coin mentioned ... and mentioned in very complimentary terms as the coin to watch.

Here are the details:

https://soundcloud.com/supernetradio/coin-of-the-week-episode-7-hyperstake-hyp

"Jon Prints is back with Hyperstake, a well tailored proof of stake experiment. (Plus DASHcoin, the little cryptonote that could...)"

Together with having Smooth on board, Monero's core developer, you are being noticed!
Keep up the good work. Wink

@billotronic

I intend to do something on the lines you suggest in the not too distant future with several coins I'm interested in. Party?!!! Where's the booze?  Wink

For those new to HyperStake (like me!)

Press Tab sent me this link earlier:

http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/HYP/chain.php

I've now had time to have a good look at it. I can't recommend it highly enough for anyone new to HyperStake and hasn't staked (minted) yet. It gives a good idea of the current state of play with regards to staking.

It highlights such things as the difficulty, the weight and how much each block minted when it staked. I can see that block height merely means the total number of blocks minted. By comparison to blocks that have successfully staked, my blocks seem to be well on the way to staking, possibly well-ahead of when I thought they might.

Hey so I had an idea about time estimation and wondering if you guys might be able to help me write some code for this.

So what I want to do is take the average network weight over a period of say every 50 Blocks starting the current height working back over max period to find the average rate of growth and then extrapolate that to find the future growth over the next period and weight it as it inputs get closer to their age.

So lets say you have the average plotted over 30 days, then you could take the average of each day to then get the growth rate. Then you would take the Block size and it's range (age - 8.8 * Blocksize up to a maximum of 30 days) and plot that against the average network weight within the range and expected growth.

The question is, how would you write something like that?

Honestly "network weight" is not real. Its really just an average of how much time it takes to stake over a set interval of blocks. You would be much better off using average weight spent per stake.

So what would be an approximate weight, for an individual block, where you could reasonably expect staking to be imminent, considering current difficulty?

If you look at this page you will see the last blocks staked on the network. It will tell you the weight of each block. If you click on the block height then you can get more information about the stake such as the size of the original block and the amount of days it took to stake. So for now it takes some manual investigating.

http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/HYP/chain.php

Thanks. That page looks useful. I will check it out more thoroughly later when I arrive back home. I take it that 'Stake Height' means 'Stake Weight'?

is it me or do all these exchanges suck. (slow, history of being hacked, eternal maintenance)

I get the same feeling, although Cryptsy have been better than most. Over the last few days I've spent 2.5 BTC there on other coins with absolutely no problems. I find that the number of coins that they support is amazing and unequaled. Maybe that is part of the problem - taking on too many coins to support. The point was made way back that Cryptsy has a prominent public face in Paul Vernon. He is not anonymous. He stands up front as being accountable. I like that. He attends cryptocoin events etc., and obviously believes in what he is doing.

Despite all the hacking and other shenanigans, Cryptsy are still hanging in there. I must admit though, that the recurring 'maintenance' issue has knocked my confidence a little and I would be wary of leaving coins on Cryptsy for any length of time. I would only wish to put emphasis on our developer Ray's previous post:

Mullick c'mon.... Logo change, restart wallet, BTC Market - 10 Mins... Where is the problem?  Grin

Ha! Most of you seem to be doubling your block sizes and in line with that the difficulty has doubled!!!

Is this leading to Nowheresville?  Wink

Vote for Zeitcoin to be added at Coinomat.com https://coinomat.com/coinvoting.php
Coinomat.com offers bank transfers, withdrawals to Visa/Master card, and custom debit card for all the cryptocurrencies on its platform.
On top of that instant exchanges to all supported cryptocurrencies and e-currencies are available.
Crypto to Fiat liquidity can provide a significant boost to Zeitcoin.

we really need to get on some chinese exchanges. btc38.com and jubi.com are buying billions of altcoins and they are really loving high float coins like IFC http://www.jubi.com/coin/ifc/

It's a great idea but what's the best way to get on them? Google translator works but I can't really find an option to add or vote.

not a damn clue heh. i think we need a chinese speaking zeit ambassador.

A large proportion of the Chinese are well-educated, coin-savvy, and are multi-lingual. It is only a matter of time before they discover Zeit (forgive the pun - 'zeit' means 'time' in German and we have a very capable German developer  Wink). Trust is the key. Zeitcoin is the hidden gem amongst all the altcoins.

I like what is happening with this coin - and the recent posts. I had a look at the BTER vote and we are currently #2 out of 250+ altcoins, ... about to become #1. I think we should just continue as we are doing and stay strong as a community.

Serendipity!
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.8 Required Update on: May 14, 2015, 12:51:25 PM
Nice jump for DOGE coin Cheesy

I am properly one of the worst day trader in the world, and I rarely hold altcoins.
(I have for a long time had DOGE, but only in form of physical coins)
Nevertheless I just bought 1 Million DOGE just two days ago @38 satoshi.
Since I want to have a good price, if the Ultra DOGE physical coin will be minted:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1017206.0

Guess it was the perfect time time to buy in Smiley
In case the coin will not be minted, then will I have a nice 1 Million to trade back to bitcoins, not bad  Cheesy

Nice trade and I really like the image in your post. But I have to ask what is happening with Doge?

I read that the original owners have sold out. This disturbs me since I am a Dogecoin millionaire and was really in tune with the direction this coin was taking. I bought in when Doge was in the hundreds of satoshis.  (I've been away for quite some time).

What needs to be done to reinvigorate this coin? I'm much sad.

It never ends.  Wink

Btw.: voting is looking promising.
https://bter.com/voting

Never a dull moment!

Zeitcoin at number 4 in the BTER charts and closing in on the #1 position. I'm not going to count the competing altcoins, but I seem to remember it was around 250.

Incidentally, after BTER went under, I got all my altcoins back and put them into safe keeping. At least they deserve a few gold stars for trying to keep the exchange afloat, but I'm not sure I'd trust them with too many coins for now.  Wink

I'd like to see Zeitcoin in the list so that I could vote for it. It is the hidden gem of the altcoins.

Zeitcoin is well-established and certainly has one of the most active, interesting and well-informed communities. It is also one of the few coins that have substantially increased in value over the last six months.

Am I exaggerating? No, definitely not!!! Check it out:

Some of the TZM "leaders" even put out an official statement basically condemning the original devs' attempt to attend ZDay and went on record saying that they wanted nothing to do with us because, in their minds, cryptocurrency is no better than fiat currency.
So, you are saying that you failed to convince the TZM with a logical argument? Don't forget that there were many scam coins out there, all making pretentious claims. Perhaps as time has gone on their attitude has changed. Why don't we try again? Abby Martin is the main guest speaker at the Zeitgeist event in Berlin. I believe she is Bitcoin friendly. She also has Peter Josef's ear having interviewed him on her television show.

Incidentally, I don't think that you read the reference material in my posts properly, if at all. The Keiser Twitter post seems to have been a spoof with a doctored Peter Josef YouTube video where he appears to endorse Startcoin, but when compared to the original, he doesn't. There was a Startcoin post on the TZM forum, to which I added my bit.
