Looks like the mtgox prices aren't coming through again, is it possible to include a box to type in the variables manually if they don't come through automatically?
Otherwise, cool chart, great for comparing Bitcoin and Namecoin! Thanks.

Does anyone know what causes this error: File "/home/user/bitHopper/_newclient.py", line 1331, in _finishResponse connHeaders = self._parser.connHeaders.getRawHeaders('connection') exceptions.AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'connHeaders'
Im trying to use nofeemining's new pool as a backup but I get the above error when trying to use it. they use the address: http://nofeemining.appspot.com now.

my nofee looks like this
and i wasnt using them for backup.. are they pay per share now or something?
No, nofee has a second pool up that will pay per share, its a cloud based system hosted on Googles appspot services so it should be pretty stable even if it gets bigger, its in beta now but its working pretty well. The new address for stats and info: http://nofeemining.appspot.com/ and for mining its ./cgminer -o http://nofeemining.appspot.com -u YOURBITCOINADDRESS -p ANYPASSWORD -I 8 Can someone try to run this on the hopper and see what they get? I got the errors mentioned above: exceptions.AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'connHeaders'

Nofeemining.com is adding a new pool that can be used for backup (Just use a bitcoin address as a username), its cloud based and I ran them for a while and got 0 stales so I want to use them as a backup. Is this pool doing something different that is breaking the hopper?

Then the next timestamp shows about 20 mins later and it's mining at eligius. It continues at eligius until I stopped and restart the scrpit this morning, then it switched to one of the two pools that were under the threshold for hopping. Could this happen because my intenet connection went down? If so is there any wayy to automatically restart the hopper once the connection comes back? Thanks

The UnitedMiners stats page was heavily cached and not refreshed often enough for what you all are doing. I reduced the cache time.
Do you have a json api url that would be easier on the servers? With maybe a faster refresh?

not horribly wrong but yeah it wouldn't help much. flower's fork has slicing that [is | will be] in the main trunk.
How does one enter payouts into the system now that the web interface has changed to include the cool graphs? I used to be able to enter into the white boxes on the page, but now they are gone. Bitcoin client integration would be killer. Thanks.

/live/cow (which I would guess is the persistent overlay) is journaled. The rest is not.
Is that good? Im guessing the persistence file is the only thing that changes while the system is running. I do remember having to add a persistence file to the usb stick image. So should I be okay resetting this system forcefully?

Have you tried overclocking the card? It would be interesting to know how overclocking affects power usage/# of hashes gained.

... Of course you had better use a journaling file system with such a setup. My stripped down Windows 7 setup with NTFS will be mining again just two minutes and a few seconds after the original failure.
As for a serial port - if your mainboard doesn't have a built in serial port or a serial pin header (some still do even today) you can get an USB to serial dongle. Check that it uses a chip that's supported on Linux - most should work these days. Then just point your software at /dev/ttyUSB0 or whatever it's called.
Good call on the header on the MB, Im going to use that and see what I can come up with. I tried looking on ebay, but seems like the items are expensive now, so I will have to wait. Also how do I know if Im using a journaling file system? Im running coinlinux (debian from a USB stick). Im guessing a journaling file system is more tolerant of random restarts?

It is true, it would be a big target and a possible point of failure...
Maybe at least if someone could code up a local proxy one can use to accomplish the same thing, then you would at least only have one request no matter how many bitHoppers you were running.

I draw the line at causing undue harm to innocent people. None of your examples results in me causing harm to people, by pool hopping, you are taking money away from people who are content with receiving their fair share for their work.
I can say the same thing to someone who spends money adding more GPUs to their own farm: By spending $2000 on GPUs and mining with them, you are taking money away from people who are content with receiving their fair share for their work. You raise the difficulty of the whole network and I make less money because of that.
You could use something like this that looks at the GPU usage from aticonfig directly (I wish I could link back to original thread where I got this but I lost the link) #!/bin/bash export DISPLAY=`cat /home/user/.display` pc=`ps waxuf | grep miner1.sh -c` ld=`aticonfig --odgc --adapter=0 | grep "GPU load" | cut -c 30-35 | cut -d % -f 1` if [[ $pc -lt 2 || $ld -lt 50 ]] ; then killall -KILL miner1.sh nohup lxterminal --title miner1 --command /home/user/miner1.sh & fi So I think the software side would be pretty easy to implement (the guy even has a sample script on his site on the link above). but does anyone know if there is any way to pulse a USB pin from linux?
I found something that may be useful to many people here, a hardware watchdog, seems pretty easy to make and pretty cheap. http://linuxfocus.org/English/July2002/article239.shtmlI would like to build it and try it out, Im just worried that there is no way to connect this to current motherboards as it goes through serial cable. Is there some thing that one can use to add a serial port to a linux box? Or maybe control the pins in a serial cable directly to send pulses to a device like this?
I agree, there must be a big load on servers due to all the hoppers polling, is it possible to use something like: http://btc-poolwatch.com/ to do a central stats poll and let the clients use that instead of pools directly?
Pool hoppers aren't the problem, you can choose to hop or not (or move somewhere where they will not be affected), its everyone else who's hashing, every time they get a new GPU I loose BTC!??!?! Why cant they all just stop hashing an let me have more income.
