241  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Gridseeds + P2Pool node setup on: May 12, 2014, 05:30:54 PM
I'm using Hashra Controla for my gridseeds.  I think it's using cgminer now.

I have spent enough time trying.  It is better just to find a good pool and mine on it.  Or use an existing p2p node.  Even with an existing node, I realized that I have a high dead hash rate.  I mean well over 15% !!

Yet the return is almost the same as a pool.

Now, having said that, all the p2pool supporters claim that it's better for the coin network to be on p2pool, yet no one is really willing to show how to setup a node. At the end of the day, they want you to use their's and get the silly 0.5 - 1% fee.

Thanks for those who replied to my inquire about the amount of coins I would expect from mining this coin.

So, I downloaded the wallet, but there are not active connections to the network!!  So no sync.

Any help appreciated.

Mind you, it is a bit concerning when there are no connections to a wallet for a coin I'm thinking of mining.

This problem came up a couple of pages back. You'll need a new peers.dat file. Please refer from this post; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=579973.msg6588934#msg6588934

We will include this shortly in the new wallet file for new wallet downloaders (most of us already have peers)

Our apologies for the inconvenience

Thanks for the help.  I will mine this coin now...
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Best Dogecoin pool on: May 10, 2014, 04:30:57 AM
How's your search going for a doge pool?

I mined Doge and still do from time to time. I keep going back to such a wonderful coin.

I started with dogehouse before the split.  It was a great place to learn and they were very helpful there.  All the miners.

Moved to p2p.  Vertoe who posted is pool was also great and helpful when I was trying p2pools.  I found them to be profitable more than other pools for some reason or another. Although you can't really add and do the math as the coins keep on coming long after you stop mining.

I also tried multipool.us  because it was the biggest and it was "okay" but not great as I expected.

I will try next this HUGE pool doge.hashfaster.com to see how it goes there.

But honestly, nothing comes close to p2pool.  the coins just come straight into your wallet. So no hassle. But over all the doge community is one of the best out there and I haven't really heard of anyone losing coins when it comes to doge.

good luck mining and Doge is the most profitable too as you can see, it's always being mine by all multicoin pools
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLAP] FlappyCoin the Gamers Delight on: May 10, 2014, 04:08:16 AM
flappycoin,

I read your reply to my post.  I don't want to write a long reply, but that will be hard to do so.  However, I know fully well you will understand my point of view on this.  I also understand the hard work you do in maintaining and developing a coin.  It's time consuming and lots of long hours away from family and life in general.

I mine and my wife always complains about the long time I spend on the computer.  Reading, researching, learning and so on.

I started mining LTC, then moved to Doge because it was a fun community. I mine BTC too and that community is NOT as helpful as Doge.  Reason being is if someone is making money, they don't want to say how. That's the norm in any business.

I got into this as a business venture NOT out of loyalty to a coin.  I see tons of coins coming out all the time. All say the same thing..."secure, fast...bla bla bla"  same as BTC and LTC and and and...

What make a coin unique than the other?? Doge was made to be fun and a joke against the might coins like BTC and LTC.  And look at it now.  One of the most mined and traded coins out there.  Every time I ventured out to mine another coin, I realized how much more work and hours I have to spend on coins that need so much constant watch and most of the time had no return as much as if I would've mined Doge.

Do you think the developers of Doge not think about profit? Sure they did.  But they wanted to make it fun too for everyone.  If you think people mine "coins" which is a form of money for loyalty, then I don't know what to say back to you!!

I wanted to mine flappy simply because it kept coming up first from time to time on the profit charts.  That's why I came to this coin. And after I see that it's paying off for mining, then I start to become a member of a community.  It's not that people become members first and then mine a coin.

Hope this coin stays and always come on top as it use to be.  As of now, no buy orders on criptsy.  I haven't check polo.

Hardcoreminers,

Thanks for the pm, it would be nicer to have my coins refunded instead of extra 5% considering that you charged me as a mistake.

Denarius dev,

I have not active connections to the wallet and it's out of sync!!  Anything I need to do??

I would like to mine this coin, however, what the calculator shows and what the pool shows are way off!!  Even some pools are way off than others.  I'm I missing something?

almost 6Mh/s shows aprox 2.5mil coins

on another pool, 11 million !!

Which is correct?

What's seems to be interesting about the whole crypto business, is that the people who are making the money are all hush hush about it and the rest of us trying to find our way in this swamp.

I still can't seem to settle on a coin to mine.  Every time I think I found a coin and start mining it, something or another goes wrong with it.

The of course you run the math, and it all comes down to the same amount.  Same as the multicoin pools.

So the guys that know how to setup things from the beginning are making the profit.  That's why every time a new coins comes up, they ask for nodes.  They mine it first when it's easy to mine, make large amounts on it before pools are up and running.

Then when the coins hit the exchanges, they sell and make bitcoins off of people like me who sell thinking I made profit, yet I made my usual same amount as if I let another big guy with a big multi coin pool do it for me!!

What's up with that?
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLAP] FlappyCoin ★ OLD/DEAD THREAD GO TO NEW ONE ★ on: May 08, 2014, 08:04:05 PM
Sorry I missed that.  But you don't expect me to read over 200 pages every time I want to mine a coin!

2-3mill coins over 24 hours with 7 Mh/s at the exchange price offered now is a waste of electricity and usage of equipment in my opinion.  0.175 LTC in total, which is 0.004BTC!!!

Even multicoin pools offer .003*7=0.02BTC/24H  and that's at the low end.

So how is this coin profitable?

pool shows coins sent,

wallet says:

WARNNING:Invalid checkpoint found! Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade or notify developers.

Version 1.6.0.0

Anyone can help please...

I was the only one there mining.  I don't mind donating the 1% but don't say it's 0%

I think it's only fair that you've setup the pool and should be rewarded.  But be honest about it.
253  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Gridseeds + P2Pool node setup on: May 08, 2014, 05:54:57 PM
I followed a tutorial in this forum and also on litecointalk.  But wasn't lucky to get it working.

I want to run it on win8.

my honest opinion dont bother lol.

iv been trying to do the p2pool for my amt-bitmine boards, as they refuse to connect to solo mine via conventional means for maybe 7 hrs now. iv used every guide under the sun (google) and here and none works at all.
id give up.
many errors and each guide gives 1/2 sometimes 3 different variants.
one even had the balls to say open cmd to open a folder?!?!?!?!?!?!? to then use cmd to:  step one - change directory by typing "cd c:/python/whatever" after that type "cd c:/somewhetre else" what was the point in step one. you could try the irc chat channel #p2pool but there you will find around 50+ people logged in waiting to help. but none of them have fingers!

so in summary dont bother pmsl unless you want a brain tumor.

theres bounties to be had!

Thank you for the honest reply.  I tried and also gave up.  I thought maybe it will be easy and more practical, but I guess it's not as easy as it sounds.  Also I realized the tutorials are NOT written well.  Like you said.

Could you guys drop the drama and please answer someone who wants to mine this coin???

I've mined this coin over night.  Calculations show that I should make 37-40++million coins/24H

But I'm no where close to that.  Over night is only 2mill  !!!  I'm I missing something??  Is there a miscalculation somewhere?

Both coinwarz and coinTweak show similar results.

Thanks.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLAP] FlappyCoin ★ A new beginning. ★ New developers. ★ on: May 08, 2014, 01:07:02 AM
I've started mining flappycoin.  when I use calculators, it shows 37-38mil coins/day for 7000kh/s

But at the pool side, it only shows 3mil/day!!

I'm I missing something?

New version firmware doesn't restart when you set a time under settings!

Anyone noticed that?
I noticed that... still trying to figure out why that is. Apparently there is a workaround for this a if you read a few posts back.
Changing the number, save it, and then change it again or something.

I tried that too.  I'll give it another try and see if it does it and update you.  I got the pics for you for the status going RED. but I don't know how I could attach the pics here.
