241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Bitcoin Elite' to Gather on Secret Island for Bilderberg-Style Retreat on: February 03, 2015, 03:14:03 PM
And so it begins.... Grin

An meeting for the "elite of BTC" goes against all that Bitcoin stands for. Now it's unrealistic for everyone to be able to attend the same meeting (nothing would get done) but it is realistic to expect that all info discussed be shared openly with the community.

Exactly my thoughts, but like the bitcoin foundation they don't represent anyone or anything but themselves and their own interests, so let them have their secret little circle jerk clubs.
242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can ordinary men do to make Bitcoin grow? on: February 02, 2015, 06:02:59 PM
Always ask merchants if you pay in Bitcoin. That will eventually get around pretty fast.

That's a good one

I suppose it'll make them feel like there's a demand for it and could peak their interest, but I personally wouldn't have the balls or confidence to keep asking merchants who have either never heard of it or aren't interested. Hopefully they'll get on board over time but I think sadly for most they won't really care or be all that interested so it'd get frustrating and disheartening fast.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The life of a late adopter on: February 02, 2015, 06:00:15 PM
Recently I have been agitated as hell that btc has never come close to showing signs of return to a respectable value, so I figured wtf I'll try trading, and while in the past two weeks I am doing well overall in my trading, It would take me months of this to recoup my losses, and I cannot watch charts and shit all fucking day.

Do you even need to 'watch charts' to be a trader. All they do is buy low sell high so just put your coins on an exchange and put some sell/buy orders in and let the bots to the trading for you. You can make a little money on the side and it doesn't need to be a full time career.
244  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling bitcointalk.org accounts *updated 30 Jan, 2015 on: February 02, 2015, 05:49:23 PM
I am just wondering who would be willing to buy a Hero account for the price of 1.1 BTC?
Have you sold some already?
Yes I have actually sold hero accounts for more then that.

Reasons why people would want to spend that much for a hero account would include to participate in signature campaigns, to have significantly lower waiting times between the time they need to wait between posting, to get the "status" of a hero among many other reasons.

How much waiting time does Heroes have? I can't imagine that's much of a factor in buying one seeing as i never even encounter any problems being a full member. I think most people will buy Heroes for the prestige or trust of having or being one. One bitcoin is a lot of money for a forum account, though.
245  Economy / Services / Re: Bitstarz.com February Signature Campaign – up to 0.1 BTC and more per month on: February 02, 2015, 05:46:47 PM
Are all the Full Member slots taken now? Says there's three left but I'm not sure if it's been updated. If there's a space free can I claim it if possible?
246  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: February 02, 2015, 05:45:43 PM
^^  Roll Eyes @sakira you just have to follow the rules that are listed on the OP.

System is fully automated and once you've added the signature on your profile, you can check if everything is with your bitcointalk ID on this webpage from BITMIXER --> https://bitmixer.io/signature.html

Hope to help you!

Is the bot working for anyone else? When I enter my ID nothing happens Sad.
247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald's accepting Bitcoins (not really) on: January 30, 2015, 12:00:40 PM
This would be huge if McDonalds did start accepting btc but it's not gonna happen. I don't think bitcoin is even used enough right now for McD's to bother with it though I hope I;m very wrong.

If McDonalds starts accepting bitcoins
Ronald McDonald will be a "cryptoclown"
LOL

Not sure if there is a pun that I am missing there.

You're not missing anything, it's just a shit joke lol.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rebranding - Using the term Blockchain vs Bitcoin on: January 30, 2015, 11:58:47 AM
You compare the blockchain to the Internet, but I think this is wrong. The blockchain is an implementation detail (a very important one, but just implementation), while the Internet is just the idea. The implementation of Internet relies on TCP/IP. So, as I see it:

Bitcoin = Internet
Blockchain = TCP/IP

And, no, we shouldn't talk about “Blockchain” (which will create confusion with Blockchain.info, which is kind of brand now).

I agree with you. Saying 'put it on the blockchain' is even more confusing. 'Use bitcoin' is fine. I also think blockchain.info should have called itself something else as it is confusing, though I guess it was a smart move from a business perspective.
249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Colored Coins is back on: January 30, 2015, 11:56:19 AM
Call me a pessimist but I never see this catching on.

(feel free to quote in the future if I am wrong)

I agree. I don't want it to catch on either. Seems just like it adds negativity to bitcoin and something we don't need or want to see.
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are merchants not serious about the advantages of Bitcoin? on: January 30, 2015, 11:52:44 AM
Not sure if they are allowed to treat credit card customer's differently, there must be some policy that says you can't charge extra if your customer is paying by credit cards.

Where I live certain places charge more depending on certain cards because of credit card fees. I've even seen some online shops charge more for people to pay via Paypal because their fees are so steep. Bitcoin's small fee are a major advantage to retailers but it's just educating them about it.
251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin Andresen on the front page of the FT on: January 12, 2015, 03:55:50 PM
His warning is legit, but he is scaring people off bitcoin. I think new users should start off with a small amount of coins to learn and not avoid it completely.

I agree, though it was probably taken out of context and seems more alarming than it actually is, but like you say, his warning is relevant because if you don't know what you're doing you could easily lose your coins.

If you look closely, you can see the antennae with which he receives instruction from the CIA.

Hehe. Someone should draw them on the paper lol.
252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was just an investment? on: January 01, 2015, 03:37:06 PM
Im coming closer to conclude that

What the hell is this supposed to mean? It's a decentralized currency, and people have chosen to speculate on it as an investment, but it's still a currency at the end of the day.
253  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin 21m limit on: January 01, 2015, 03:34:52 PM
bitcoin 21m limit will stop mining,  people do not volunteer for fees;  math people should find the right  way to supply bitcoins forever using smart algorithms;  Wolfram "new kind of science"  people are welcome to step in!!!!!

The fixed amount of bitcoins is one of its defining features. To change it would be fundamentally wrong. The fixed amount will also make existing coins more valuable.
254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Find Identity of Satoshi on: December 22, 2014, 11:09:14 AM
Roll Eyes Of curse you know who it is. It's chuck Norris, right? Looks just like another attention seeking newbie troll. If you claim you've got theory state it, but I'm guessing it's nonsense if it even exists at all.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your Bitcoin pitch? on: December 22, 2014, 11:05:49 AM
Lead by example. Demonstrate how Bitcoin is useful to you and is helpful to you.

Others will use it or not based on whether or not they believe it will also be useful to them.

This is how I try and explain it to people. I first usually start off by trying to tell them about how fiat currency is issued and is essentially unbacked and they can print as much as they want which can have disastrous consequences. I also tell them about the potential investment value of btc but also explain the risks.
256  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-12-06] CD: Can Bitcoin's Price Ever Be Stable? on: December 08, 2014, 02:28:24 PM
Maybe in the future bitcoin can break away from being pegged to fiat and we will peg fiat to bitcoin instead  Cheesy.

That's a point I always bring up when neysayers complain about the fluctuations. Stocks and shares can lose value very quickly knocking off several millions in value from their company.

Currencies also fluctuate in value. I read somewhere that the British Pound has lost nearly 70% of it's value over the course of 30 years.
257  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling bitcointalk.org accounts *updated Dec 7 on: December 08, 2014, 02:23:50 PM
I am willing to purchase a Full member and Member account

pm me the price
No negative trust.. And the cheapest one please

Why wouldn't you just PM this instead of asking here? Doesn't make sense to publicly request a PM when you could put the same amount of effort into just doing it yourself. All you're doing is advertising the fact that you're trying to buy an account which some people will frown upon.
258  Economy / Services / Re: CLOUDMINR.IO || Sign. campaign Up to 0.4 BTC/month || ** NO FREE SPOTS ** on: November 21, 2014, 06:58:55 PM

What's the best option for a Full Member currently? All the deals seem to be full at the moment.

Camp the threads. See when the monthly cycle starts fresh and sign up on time to get in. Best option right now. Good luck.

Which ones are on a monthly cycle that are due to re-open?

Increased rates:

cloudminr.io Signature campaign (Thread)
Payments: S+:0.001 BTC / post; F: 0.0005 BTC / post; M: 0.0003 BTC / post

I'll give this a go since it's escrowed. Hope I've got a place. I miss the days of many different signature campaigns to choose from  Cry.
