My life will be complete once I can bring a girl over McDonalds and pay happy meals with my smartphone.
But suddenly your smartphone have only 5% battery and die when you already make order

he will leave smartphone as collateral until he find a way to pay. Or something like that
I think, the easiest solution is, that they just plug in your smartphone. They already have free WiFi, why not Free Charging

http://www.cnet.com/news/starbucks-to-hook-up-wireless-charging-stations-in-shops/#!

Hope they can solve the every-device-a-different-charger problem

If this would be true, the BTC will rise above 1500 Smiley

Doubt it.  Their entire demographic has largely not heard of Bitcoin nor care about it yet.

On a side note, I wouldn't spend a single BTC on anything on their menu.  And I could probably be persuaded to spend BTC on some pretty useless stuff.

I'm gonna say it's hugs.  Look at the image.  "Give Lovin, Get Lovin"

What Mcdonalds are you going to where you give lovin to get lovin?  If it's hugs this could be the next Planking craze!

hmmmmmm

when asked if they will be accepting alt-coins or crypto currencies ....
Really? If they do accept cryptocoins that would be absolutely massive. Just set up a qr code on the back of their screen and be able to pay in 1 second using bitcoin. Move all bitcoins from that address to a cold storage or convert to fiat when the day is over, and then change the address.

...until the inevitable Big Mac Hack Attack TM.

actually, this stupid and untrue story went viral fast. My non-tech-savvy, non-interested in BTC wife told me Mickey Deez was accepting BTC a few days ago. dafuq is that? Disinformation is better circulated than actual news now?

and McDon's is bad for BTC IMHO, I don't even like to use their washroom, and  I only have to smell the fries from across the street to get diarrhea.

It is good if you are in a hurry though. You can just hand your buddy 5$ and say "Hey man, I can't break for lunch. Would you mind flushing this down the toilet for me?"

Either way it seems to be a successful campaign by McDonalds. They get quite the buzz and at the same time they get an open survey on what payment systems people would like them to support.

Good advertising. Most likely the new payment method is exactly what they've shown. At random a customer has a chance to be charged with "a smile" instead of $x.xx. Maybe 1 in a 100?

The clues are the "at random" and the customer smiling. There ya go.

PS. Can't wait for devious employees starting to randomly charge things other than a smile....

If that is the case then wow.  I can't imagine disliking a scam (in this case, scam=bad food with intentional addictive additives to their food) restaurant more but I now know it is possible.

Why would they care at all about price stability? I doubt if McD is gonna pay their staff and resources in bitcoins right away, so they'll use any of the free payment provider to receive their BTC turnover in EUR or USD. Zero risk or price instability.

Essentially, there is NO reason for McD (or any merchant) to not accept Bitcoin.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

This would be huge if McDonalds did start accepting btc but it's not gonna happen. I don't think bitcoin is even used enough right now for McD's to bother with it though I hope I;m very wrong.

Would be great if it were true. Imagine employees having to keep up with the speed of QR codes being scanned. It'll be hilarious.  Grin

Developing a simple tx index with blockchain would be super simple. A little screen listing the latest transactions and how much they are in usd, just that. No inputs, outputs, tx ids, or anything, just to list the latest prices, maybe you can sign your name with the tx in a public note to be used for verification.

What?

For McDonalds (or any merchant) to accept Bitcoin, no employee or anyone in their entire organization would ever have have to deal with transactions, the blockchain, signing, or even bitcoin amounts. They can simply use one of the many Bitcoin Point Of Sale solutions that are available today. It works just like a regular EUR or USD cash register or card payment, except being faster, easier, free, and more secure.

Exactly. If they can use a regular chip and pin device or a mobile tablet then they can use bitcoin. No additional training will be needed for staff. I hope merchants realize this eventually as they're missing out on saving money through fees and I really want to start spending my coins even if it's for a crappy bigmac  Cheesy.
