Who needs Shakespeare, if we have bitcoin boards?

Why not simply use Bitcoin
Because Bitcoin already has 43% distributed.

LOL where did you get that number? If you're basing it on BFL's ASICS', just remember that: A) They have not released their product yet. B) The hashing power will grow infinitely, and anyone is free to buy their own ASICs too.
the production cost of an asic is only a few dollars. It is true, that anyone is free to buy one, but what that means is if you buy $X worth of BTC, you should also invest comparable amount in the mining equipment, to make it secure.

The cost to buy 51% of hashing power, halt the block chain and render all BTCs completely useless is between $1M and $10M. Thus true value of bitcoin is less than 0.51 * $10M / 9M = $0.57
The value of a thing is what it costs to destroy it? Can I have your house for a match a gallon of gasoline? Your cost calculation is a bit off. You forgot to add the price of spending a few years behind bars. Continuing the analogy, why do you trust that a $100 bill you just received is real and not counterfeited? Because you know that secret service protects it. It costs only a few $M to set up a money printing factory and render all USD in circulation useless, and believe me there are plenty of people that will be happy to do that, but to operate such a factory freely one would need to overthrow the us government, not a cheap endeavor...

they also can change the algorithm a little bit, and continue mining on the split blockchain

Can you please expand more on the connection between Masons and World Jewish Government?

Ideology has never been a force for progress. Only technology drives society toward an improved quality of life. Ask yourself who has the best plan for improving and delivering technological invention and innovation for the future.
tasteless food, pollution, stupid games, abundant porn, more old people, more ways to kill, loss of privacy, ... i fail to see anything good that tech brought us And what's ahead: nukes in every country, GMed viruses, rich people living to 300 years and AI that will make all of us redundant.

I think traders are good for bitcoin. They lose money (because it's not a zero-sum game for them, its negative sum game if you take exchange commissions into account). The money they lose goes to the exchange, which can invest into better infrastructure, security, and to lower the commission. It also works to reduce bid-ask spread, meaning better terms for "normal" buyers and sellers.
Gamblers also get something for their money, namely satisfy their speculating urges, we can regard that as entertainment value. Of course, it's bad if taken to the extreme (taking on debt, spending too much time on gambling).

This is revision 3, unopened in a box. Local pickup in Phoenix AZ only. Won't mail. You either pay BTC in advance or bring $750 cash and get the box.

I have just received my Butterfly Labs BitForce SHA256 Single. The shipping notice says Rev 1 but Sonny K told me in email that this would be a Rev 3 system, the same board as in the multi-unit rigs.
I have not used it yet, and will wait until Monday morning PDT to fire it up.
I'll ship USPS priority with tracking info and am willing to escrow (your cost) based on delivery confirmation.
Now for the obvious questions:
1) Why would you pay 200 BTC, putting the initial capital cost so high it would never break even?
I'm assuming a lot of people are evaluating FPGA mining infrastructure going forward. Due to their long lead times, it's tough to commit to placing a large order, either for singles or rigs, without an evaluation first. This unit will allow you to start your evaluation next week so you can either decide to cancel existing orders, have faith in your pending orders, or make or increase your allocation for additional hashing capacity from BFL.
You can also rip it apart and reverse engineer it or whatever you want. It will be yours.
2) Do I guarantee it is operational?
No. I will only guarantee shipment, as I have not powered up the device. All warranty issues will be based on BFL's six month warranty.
3) What is the shipping origin?
Phoenix, AZ, USA
4) Why should you trust me?
You shouldn't trust strangers on the Internet. However, I'm relatively transparent and easily located. Most of the highly-rated or respected heavy hitters can find me. I recommend that you put in place whatever safeguards you feel necessary to mitigate the possibility of fraud. Again, I am willing to defer payment via escrow based on USPS proof-of-delivery (the tracking number will be shared with the escrow agent and yourself when the unit is shipped).
5) Is the price fixed?
I pulled this number out of reeses's arse. However this price is fixed.

Interesting, 4 hours after I received a shipping notice, I got an email with the subject "Your parcel is expecting of receiving", and a virus attached) How come, spammers are hooked directly to PayPal/USPS systems?
|

Maybe this is a wrong thread, but I would like to have access to a bitcoin-based SMTP server. I am one of those dinosaurs that don't want to use web-based email. I'd pay something like 0.01BTC per email sent, provided there is no minimum amount to deposit. 1 BTC will last me through a year.

I also think FPGA as a subforum either under hardware or under the parent mining.
Wrong, that's GPUs that belong in parent mining (i.e. mining while parents pay for electricity).

Even if the problem doesn't exist, it SEEMS to the unexperienced user that it exists. If efficiency number isn't accurate, don't display it, as it scares people off, produces confusion, and prevents widespread adoption of p2pool.
|
|
|
Nope, my miners works fine with regular pools. And most of the time I see efficiency >110%. But if I have 110%, some other guy (probably you) has 90%.
Are you refering to your efficiency number given by the pool or the miner? Pool of course
|
|
|
That own efficiency thing is confusing ... I have seen numbers varying from 60% to 120% in that column. And if I understand it correctly, if you have 60%, you will be getting 40% less BTC per GPU hash than an average miner on p2pool. So 50% of people who see <100% efficiency, have an incentive to leave for a regular pool. Those that remain will again compete against one another, and 50% of those will leave etc...
If your efficiency is that low, and it will take a day or two to level out, stated here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool#Stales it's usually due to your miner or network configuration, which if not properly set up, doesn't matter what pool your mining on, your losing BTC. Nope, my miners works fine with regular pools. And most of the time I see efficiency >110%. But if I have 110%, some other guy (probably you) has 90%.
