There is already one of such projects working:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=626715.0

i think that a website must be setup, something like betarigs, where you can rent/lease a masternode at a certain price or %.

it could help a lot if this is an official site from the dev team and not someone that can run away with 10-15-20-30 nodes (no offense to DyslecticZombei, i m just saying)

I agree it is not the optimal set up, but is the only one I know that has been successful atm. I've seen a couple more people trying to do this and we've discussed many other options here, but I'm not sure the market is big enough for someone to code the solution.

I would not want the devs involved with this, that could raise a lot of other issues and bring more centralization. I think the market should take care of it once someone comes with the solution to the trust issue.
I'm already working on it Smiley

Plus I've got some very innovative ideas on how to run a trustless pooled masternode I will be releasing more hopefully this weekend after I finish testing.

Bump! Those of us who do not quite have enough DRK for a MN nor enough technological know-how are eager to join ASAP.
Bump again, ive wanted to do this since nodes went live but dont have the experience <3

Don't take this as FUD as I'm an owner of a significant amount of DarkCoin.  However, I wonder if anyone has considered that running a Masternode is going to run afoul of the "Money Laundering Control Act" that makes money laundering a federal crime in the U.S..  Specifically if you intend to purposely hide where money is coming from-and-going you will run into trouble.  Serious trouble really.

It's akin to running an operation where someone goes to the bank, takes a bunch of money, brings it over to you.  You mix it up with other people's money, and give them the mixed up money instead.  <-- This is illegal.  Regardless if it is built into the coin itself, you've made a choice to launder the money by operating as a Masternode.

I realize that we're talking about DRK here and not FIAT, but I doubt the Fed will care in what method you are doing it, only that you are doing it period.

Someone should probably talk to a lawyer who is familiar with money laundering rules and see if this would run into problems or not.  It might be good to know beforehand, so that if Masternode operators are arrested for money laundering that it doesn't crash the coin.  This is likely not just a United States issue either, money laundering is typically illegal everywhere.

Interesting, but this is a pass through system. If the master nodes were a controlled gateway you might have a point, but they do not have an ability to hold coins for any period that is longer than necessary to mix.  The start and end points are the regulated control points.

Have people been charged for laundering with Bitcoin? Cause aren't there many services that do this or similar?

Theyve tried on dreadpirateroberts and i think the bitpay gent, but the charges always get dropped because if btc isnt a legal currency then theres technically nothing to launder.

Laws are 'evolving' though.

Is anyone concerned about having half the nodes at a facility that currently has a $600m contract with the CIA for use of their cloud servers, or is this a non-issue?

What are you talking about? This sounds like FUD.

They won a bid over IBM less than 6 months ago, its apparently to host a dedicated CIA cloud, but i wouldnt rule out them having access to the facility itself.

Can you source please? Thanks.

Wink

Amazone GovCloud ip is 96.127.0.0/18 (96.127.0.0 - 96.127.63.255)

You can rest assured that CIA won't be on Amazon GovCloud unless (or even if) they are hosting front-end web application services on there only. It will most likely be a private cloud offering for them.

Yeah from what i understand it is a private cloud, amazon got some shit for it because theyve always been against private clouds(i guess the money wasnt good enough)

Im not a code guy so im looking at it like, if amazons holding CIA intel then agents probably have direct physical access to the hardware, which theoretically means they have physical access to the facility itself, and thus (some) nodes, i guess depending on what data centers theyre at.  Isnt it super easy for them to just go in and unplug a bunch of nodes because TERRISMZ?  Again im not a code guy, so i dont even know if nodes can be readily recognized or anything, maybe putting darkcoin nodes, amazon cloud and cia together in my brain just threw up red flags(as far as safety, not intention).

Plus those guys dont really follow rules, they just issued an apology for pretending to give people vaccines while they were really collecting blood looking for bin laden dna.  These are insane people.

If im reaching way too far, kindly disregard Smiley

So are smaller holders pooling their drk for nodes yet?   Smiley
We should be but we're not...not sure why. Could be trust issues.

If only there were a trustless ledger system we could use to keep from being robbed.

Well im not capable of op'ing a machine but if someone capable wants to set something up, as Luniz say, i got 5(0) on it
