241  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for 1st august on: July 30, 2017, 11:23:48 PM
be aware, team of electrum BCH isnt team of electrum

no audit of the code.. use at own risk.. remember and open mind

what should users of electrum wallet do to safely split the coins after the fork? i am worried about things like replay and the possibility of transacting on both chains when you send on one of them

BCC has replay protection so you don't need to worry about spending them on both chains.

Check out the documentation written at https://electrum.org/bcc.txt which tells you what you would need to do.
242  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Private Key on: July 30, 2017, 11:22:43 PM
In the event that private keys have to be used to claim BCC/BCH in a Bitcoin Cash wallet, how exactly should one proceed?
I know how to use the export private keys function in Electrum to generate unencrypted .csv, or .json files showing addresses and their associated private keys.
Does simply copying and pasting those addresses and private keys into the import function of a Bitcoin Cash wallet do the trick?
Do you import your private keys with their corresponding addresses individually, or all together?

Step-by-step, how should this be done? Expert opinion please!

You can simply copy and paste each private key to be imported into a Bitcoin Cash wallet. You would do each address individually or they might allow you to import multiple at the same time. Either way would work.

Just be sure to move your Electrum funds to a new wallet with a new seed after the fork to ensure their safety.
243  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 2.9 (Linux Mint) with Continuous Hard Drive Activity on: July 30, 2017, 07:43:55 PM
Is Electrum fully synced? You should be able to see that by the icon in the lower right corner. If it is still syncing, that is likely the cause of the disk activity.

You should try running "Resource Monitor" on Windows as it should show you which file is being used for the disk activity.
244  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for 1st august on: July 30, 2017, 07:39:43 PM
I have been lost many money in bitcoin industry but i wouldn't lose any more. I am using Electrum for bitcoin. will i able spend my coins in both chains after fork?

Im not sure. I think you should be able to import the seed in the other chain somehow. There's an Electrum Cash software client but according to the Electrum statement made on their site, it is not officially endorsed by them:

https://electrum.org/bcc.txt

Honestly and just to be safe, if you want to spend your BCC, get a Core full node, then get a BCC full node from bitcoincash.org.

Every other method is risky to me and I wouldn't bother. You must set this up before august 1st so you must download the blockchain quickly tho..
Its already too late when you decide up to download the whole blockchain as of now when you decide to use bitcoin core unless if you have super duper speedy internet that would able to download in a matter of 2 days. we are on July 30 and thinking of that split will happen on August 1.Theres no much time left to make such action this is why i do stick with electrum as long you do hold the keys it wont really be a problem for sure.

Yes, it's definitely too late for most people now. The only way out I see is to ask someone with a great internet connection to upload the entire blockchain in a Mega link, then you would be able to download it at full speed (Mega is really fast), but then again, you would need to validate the entire blockchain... it's a mess to be honest.

I guess what i would do is to get a paper wallet and put all of the coins together there, then once the split happens, sort them accordingly.

Hopefully there will also be some light wallets that could be used with BCC for people that want to claim theirs without downloading the entire blockchain.
245  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help splitting coins in preparation for possible fork on: July 30, 2017, 05:20:57 PM
So no one feels qualified to answer my previous post, regarding how dangerous it is to write down private keys after (temporarily) disconnecting from the internet? It seems like that would be important information to be aware of, for noobs and even people with some computer/software knowledge.

I'd rather not move the entire content of my wallet if it is avoidable....

It would be much more dangerous than moving your coins around. You could likely import the private keys into a BCC wallet entirely offline, but you would never be able to bring that PC back online and would have a difficult time trying to spend the BCC coins. The best option is to move your bitcoins after the fork and then use the private keys for the old addresses entirely in BCC. You could even move the coins to a temporary address now and then back to your old address after the fork.
246  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Recover 2FA on: July 30, 2017, 05:15:34 PM
Hi, I deleted the 2FA app from my phone, so I cannot send BTC´s stored in my windows  Electrum wallet.
I tried creating a new wallet and used the seed words to restore, that works fine and I can see the coins again, but of course it wants the 2FA to send them.
Is there any way to generate the QR code again, or what can I do?

I don't think you can recover the old 2FA code, you would need to create an entirely new 2FA wallet. This should be possible during the new wallet creation with the seed though. Otherwise, you should be able to restore the seed as a normal wallet without 2FA and spend them appropriately.
247  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you think the current state of the Crypto-currency is correlated with... on: July 29, 2017, 06:36:42 PM
On the contrary, there are too many miners.

Why so? I think we have enough miners to sustain the transactions on the block chain, and enough miners that profits from mining are decent.

I don't think Bitcoin mining is really profitable unless you have a dedicated farm of ASICs and cheap power/cooling. What we really need is more decentralized miners and less mining power in the hands of specific people.

What is meant as "Live games"  mention on the roadmap to be added in Q4 2017?
Live games, like roulette, blackjack you can see live dealers/person on your computer screen. You haven't played live games?!

Actually did not on the internet casinos.   Not sure why I first thought of Bingo. But I bet Bingo will not be one of live games on bitdice.me

Provably fair bingo, not sure I've seen that on any other sites. Hahaha. But yeah, I don't think there will be any bingo.
249  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum contains Trojan on: July 29, 2017, 02:50:47 AM
your screenshot doesn't show up. upload it again and link us.

The link worked for me. It is mentioning the hid.pyd file as being malicious.

There seem to be several, likely false positives, being detected in the latest Electrum. Another user mentioned a similar issue in:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2052166.0
250  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum (2.9.0) wallet not connecting to network on: July 29, 2017, 02:45:28 AM
I have tried turning off my firewall and restarting the wallet, but unfortunately that didn't work.

Are you attempting to use a proxy with Electrum? If not, you shouldn't need to specify any of the proxy settings within the Network window so leave that set to NONE

I recommend you select the "Use SSL" option and the "Select server automatically"
251  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help splitting coins in preparation for possible fork on: July 29, 2017, 02:39:49 AM
If I wanted to write down my private keys by hand, and use them in Bitcoin cash wallets, how safe would it be to disconnect from the internet, open the wallet, and jot the private keys down by hand? (Let's say I'd rather send  a single private key that controls one address with a small amount of BTC rather then hand over my wallet seed to a Bitcoin cash wallet)

In other words how bad would my computer need to be infected for this to still be a potential problem?

Can these viruses still take screenshots or monitor keystrokes even if my machine is offline, and then send them back to whoever infected my computer after re-connecting to the internet?

Or am I being overly paranoid? Anyone with enough hacking knowledge who can give some detail as to what the worse viruses with the worst case scenarios could do, even if you're opening up the wallet offline?

I'm sure some people like me would want to know.

You should send your coins to a new Electrum wallet after the fork before using your private keys in any Bitcoin cash wallet.

That is actually mentioned with https://electrum.org/bcc.txt under "How to redeem my BCC?"
252  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ElectrumX configuration error on: July 25, 2017, 02:53:26 PM
Sounds like it could be an issue with localhost not resolving or possibly using IPv6 or something along those lines.

Try setting the DAEMON_URL to the following and see if you still get the same error.
Code:
DAEMON_URL = http://[username]:[password]@127.0.0.1:8332/
253  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Regarding the release 2.9.0 on: July 25, 2017, 02:38:54 PM
It looks like it will support automatic fork detection? Seems like it should be able to detect any fork. That seems pretty awesome if it works like that.

Tell me why me for signa estimate that I have short posts and for some reason I don't count the counting of posts. If it continues, I'll reset Signa.
I don't think people normally post.

Are you talking about the signature program? Any questions regarding that should be directed into the Bounty thread.

I like the smart contract project, the direction of retirement is good, will there be airdrop activities?

There is no airdrop activities. There is a bounty thread where you can earn stakes by participating.
255  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I've installed Electrum - what do I need to do to keep is safe? on: July 25, 2017, 05:03:06 AM
The seed is enough to restore the wallet if anything happens. The only other thing you should do is make sure your PC is free of malware and don't download anything shady. For even more protection, you can use a hardware wallet in combination with Electrum so that the seeds aren't stored on the same device.
256  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Is it safe to keep bitcoins at Xapo wallet during the 1st August period? on: July 24, 2017, 03:38:48 PM
Storing your coins in a Desktop wallet would be the safest option as you would have complete control of them and in the event of a split, you could ensure that the coins remain on the chain that you wish or spend them separately on both chains.

However, it is likely that you coins will be fine if left on Xapo. If there was a fork, you would likely on get the coins from one of the chains in this case though. It all depends on how the exchanges chooses to handle it.
257  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum doesn't run from Terminal anymore on: July 24, 2017, 03:33:38 PM
When I updated Electrum some time ago, the readme file said to open it via terminal (as double clicking the file itself didn't work).
However, now even that doesn't work.

I open terminal in the Electrum directory and do ./electrum, but nothing happens.

Anyone else with a similar experience ? How do I open it ?

Did you +x electrum?

Usually you need to give permission to execute.

Yeah, you'll like need to give it execute permissions for it to run, but I'd assume it would give an error otherwise.

You could also try executing 'python electrum' to force it to execute via python.
258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I keep my account secure? on: July 24, 2017, 03:28:26 PM
Also, if you are trying to protect a Bitcoin account, I strongly recommend a hardware wallet such as the Ledger Nano S or the Trezor. This will help protect your bitcoins even if your PC somehow gets infected. However, you should definitely take the steps mentioned above to help prevent that from occurring by being careful what you download and not running shady programs, etc.
259  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is not Anonymous on: July 24, 2017, 03:24:49 PM
It really depends on how you use Bitcoin as to how anonymous it can be. There are steps you can take to increase your privacy and if you need to be anonymous, you can use mixers and such.

Bitcoin's strength isn't being anonymous though and if you are looking for a truly anonymous coin, you may want to check out some of the altcoins that aim for that.
260  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best part of this board to seek investors on: July 24, 2017, 03:21:32 PM
I have an idea for a coin, own the domain name and social names.

The coin is unique and has a Worldwide market.

Well i can have same thing in around 2 hours. Im looking for investors also then Smiley
If you are not tech person, you will pay a lot to just try make new coin, its waste of money.
Yes you could do the same thing in 2 hours but you would not have the idea or uniqueness and disruptive abilities to a fiat industry that this coin will have.

So getting back to my original question, where should I post or advertise for investors?

Thanks.

If a new project, make a new thread in /Announcements (Altcoins) that's where all new projects post about their ICOs.

Yeah, the Altcoin Announcement section is the best place to advertise ICOs and look for investors for new projects.

Here is a direct link to that subsection of the forums:
