241  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good news= up in price while bad news = down in price. on: April 11, 2024, 01:41:32 PM
In my opinion, I think actual events play a bigger role than news. Of course, I agree news does affect the price of bitcoin but it's mostly only for the short term. If negative news comes out and the news somehow is related to the financial, economic market, or crypto market, it might affect the price, but it would quickly recover and correct itself, same thing applies when it's positive news. We saw what happened when news broke that a big whale or the US government was about to sell its bitcoin, or a big exchange was being sued, the price dipped but it recovered quicker.

Then imagine an event like FTX crumbling, or the ETF approval and a halving. We can clearly see that these events have a more lasting effect on the price of Bitcoin than a rumor or news. These factors affect demand and supply more and that is why they have a longer effect.
242  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Freedom from wars and slavery on: April 11, 2024, 01:10:10 PM
First of all, I won't call what went on between Africans and European colonizers and slave traders a "war". It was more like a massacre. I don't know if that's the right word. Slave trade was brutal. The Africans weren't really fighting the whites per say, they just wanted to be left alone and treated like humans.

I am not one to blame the colonizers for the poor state in which Africa is today, but you can't dismiss the hand they played in it. Manipulated history paints pre-colonial Africa as just savages, this is far from the truth. Pre-colonial Africa has highly sophisticated cities. They may not be as developed as Europe and Asia at the time, but they had a working system. True history taught us about the Mali Empire, the Ghana Empire, the Oyo Empire, the Benin Empire, the Songhai Empire, Ancient Egypt, Kanem-Bornu and Sokoto Caliphate, Kalanga, and the Kongo Kingdom. I can go on and on about the great cities that existed before and during the European colonization of Africa.
The point is, that these people knew how to govern themselves in their way and they were doing pretty well. The Europeans got there, masking their true intentions in religious missionary, trade activities, and exploration. I'm not saying Africa was as developed or modernized as Europe or America at the time, but they had a system that worked, they even had one of the richest men in history (Mansa Musa of the Mali empire), the Europeans came, and turned them all to business deals.

So looking at the state of Africa, it's really difficult to discuss how bad they've been without looking at the history and the events that have led them here. Even to this very point, directly or indirectly, Europe and America are still making moves to make sure they keep controlling African resources. Read up on the Agreement Cameroon signed with France before they could gain independence, or the agreement the British forced the southern and Northern parts of Nigeria to sign before gaining independence.
To this very day, they still influence elections in Africa to make sure leawho that would follow their rules are elected, igniting conflicts, and taking sides in the conflict to gain economic power. So like I said, it's difficult to talk about the situation in Africa without mentioning the role Europe, America, and most recently China play in it, even though I don't blame them for the state of Africa.

I said I don't blame the Europeans because Africans have refused to sit up. To be honest, I can't blame the West, they are only looking for ways to make their countries better, something African leaders can't relate to. Their leaders are blinded by greed.
Let's take West Africa for example. Every country in West Africa has the resources to be a great country, but the greed of their leaders won't let them. I can't blame the West for that. At this point, the leaders are wrecking more havoc in Africa than the West ever did, the West is just taking advantage of that greed and myopic mind to enrich themselves.

People often say that aside from poor leadership, African citizens are not ready for change, that's not entirely true. It all boils down to poor leadership. Humans are an intolerable species. You can't expect them to do things expectedly, that's why every group of people has a government or leaders. There are rules, regulations, laws, and policies that guide people. When these laws are not put in place and enforced properly, there will certainly be chaos. That is why a system that works is necessary. African countries either have a poor system or no system at all. Some even have systems that are not enforced properly.

Honestly, I'm not surprised by what happened, of course because I think PSG doesn't have good squad depth in their midfield. Barcelona has Gundogan, Roberto and De Jong as midfielders, while PSG relies on Vitinha, Lee Kang-in and Fabian Ruiz as midfielders. It was clear that Barcelona had the advantage there even though they actually had several young players in their line-up in the first half.

If you want to judge by the midfield in the first half, I think PSG's midfield did a better job. Barcelona had no DM and Frenkie was not himself today. Barcelona suffered in the first half because of their midfield, they could not control the game.
What helped Barcelona is the way they defended. They defended well, as a team, and didn't attack too much. If you notice you'll see that whenever they're on the counter only about 3 players are going forward, 4 at most, and that 4th is Gundugan. If another player who's not an attacker has already gone forward to complete 4 in attack on the counter, the rest sit back and cover for him. This helped to neutralize the pace of the PSG attack.
I think Xavi got his tactics spot on. He was so on point.
Cancelo did a good job keeping Dembele quiet so he had to switch. One of PSG's problems is the lack of a 9. If you notice the middle was always empty, they only attacked from the wing which made them too predictable.

I won my bet today. I knew Barcelona would win and I also knew Atletico would win too. PSG still has a lot to do when it comes to defending. In modern football, you don't leave defending for the defenders alone and you don't leave attacking for the attackers alone. Everybody has got to work as a unit.
244  Economy / Economics / Re: Digital Bank on: April 10, 2024, 05:34:23 PM
I don't know about your country, but in my country, a bank must have a branch. Most digital banks just have a headquarters in a particular city but with time they open other branches in other strategic cities in the country.
The major difference between them and traditional banks is in the speed of their transactions and free transaction costs. In my country, traditional banking is stressful. You have a lot of failed transactions and transactions that won't reflect on one end. Digital banking eliminates that.

You also have to be careful about the kind of bank you use. Make sure you use only banks that are approved by all the regulatory bodies in your country. That won't make your funds 100% safe because it's a centralized institution and they do different investments with your money since they are humans, there's a chance the bank can go under, especially considering that they're not as big as the traditional banks, but using an approved and recognized digital bank is way safer than the alternatives.
245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 10, 2024, 02:01:46 PM
I believe it will be very difficult for Manchester City to win the Premier League trophy this season. But anything can happen because football is something that you can predict at times, but in my opinion, Arsenal or Liverpool will win the title this time, because how I see Guadiola is doing this season is not like before, he has lost form and they are not like last season, but I think because some of the players are no longer in the team because I am not seeing Doku's performance anymore, I prefer Grealish to him.

I agree it's difficult for Manchester City to win the league this season. They're in a position that for them to win the league they'll need both Arsenal and Liverpool to drop points while they keep taking all the points. This is something that is possible but with little chance of happening.
What I don't agree with is saying Pep Guardiola has lost form. He has not lost form, his team still plays very spectacular football. It's not every season a team wins a treble. We saw how Manchester City performed yesterday against Madrid. I doubt either Arsenal or Liverpool can play Madrid like that at the Bernabeu.

A big part of Manchester City's problem and why they're here today has been injuries. They struggled without De Bruyne, then they struggled without Rodri and De Bruyne. These are two major masterpieces of the City system. Halland also got injured at a point. These are not excuses, it is what it is, but know that Manchester City is capable of finishing the remaining seven games of the league season without dropping a single point.
246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 10, 2024, 10:44:29 AM
It was a beautiful confrontation between two different strategies, and it was a little surprising to see how Real sometimes pressed close to their goal and allowed City to carry out positional attacks, there are probably only a few teams in the world, who can play like that against Real Madrid. The match turned out to be very good, Guardiola probably achieved his goal, City did not lose, and just a little was not enough to win.

I believe if Carlo Ancelotti had played any other way, his team would have lost. They had to play a low block to allow Manchester City to have the ball, but also know how to make use of the ball when they (Madrid) got it. It was an interesting tactic. With Pep on his day, if you don't go toe to toe with him, you'll lose, only Klopp has managed to do that and win.
If you notice you'll see that all of Madrid's goals came from outside the box. Manchester City attacks as a unit and defends as a unit, they don't leave spaces behind, so the best way to penetrate them is long-range shots and luckily for Madrid, they have players that are good at that.

The second leg is going to be more difficult for Madrid, except Carlo can put a rat out of the bag. Manchester City was without De Bruyne and Walker and they managed to score three and get a goal while playing at a closed-roof Benebua, imagine how it would be when they're playing at the Eithihad with a very refreshed De Bruyne and Walker. Let's not also forget that Madrid is a favorite of De Bruyne. In my opinion, I feel Madrid would be knocked out.
247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 10, 2024, 09:27:58 AM
Catching up to Madrid seems impossible, no matter Barcelona winning streaks, I believe same will be applicable to Madrid cause their chances of losing any of their upcoming games is slight, even if they should draw or lose in any game they won't lose too consecutively, this will make Barca unable to catch up.

Madrid and Barcelona are going to finish the as first and second respectively. Barcelona can keep winning till the end of the season, but they won't be able to win the league till Madrid drops 8 points. If we were at the middle of the season it would have been possible, but right now with 7 games to go, that not going to happen. Anyhow bad Madrid gets they won't drop 8 points and it's not even certain for Barca to win all their games.

As for Barcelona going down to second position, that's not going to happen too. Barcelona picked their form towards the end of the season and they play very better now, they concede fewer goals and they have more confidence.
Barcelona still have to play Girona and if they win Girona then their place in the second position is sealed it if Girona wins then Girona might just overtake them in that position.

I'm upset with the performance of Arsenal against Bayern Munich at Emirate stadium. This was particularly and specially the winning game for Gunners but they ruined their chances and they have to compete with the Bavarians at Allianz Arena

Generally, people overestimate how good Arsenal are. Don't get me wrong, they're a good team, they play very compact and press well, but they lack the experience that the other top teams currently in the champions league have. I found it amusing when people said Arsenal would trash Bayern Munich. These judgment were mainly because of Bayern current league form. We've been watching football long enough to understand these things. The champions league is a different ball game. It's a knock out game. You could play very well over two legs and a penalty or red card would ruin it for you and you're done, you've been knocked out. A lot of experience is required to succeed in the UCL.
If Saka had any experience, he'll make sure that ball ends up at the back of the net instead of looking for a penalty.

The way I see it, Arsenal would get knocked out in the second leg. They still have a chance but I don't think they'll be able to win in Germany. It's probably for the best if they just focus on winning their 7 remaining matches in the league. It would be an interesting game this, even more interesting to than the first leg, but Bayern Munich would win.
249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 09, 2024, 09:17:03 PM
I don't think that this season would be like last season for Arsenal, because they have the quality to keep on winning their matches and finish on first position on the table. I believe that Arteta have learnt from last season, and he is very cautious of himself now to prevent last season from repeating itself again.

Arsenal is better this season that they were last season, but it doesn't mean what happened can't happen this season. All that needs to happen for them to fumble the league is to drop point and both Man City and Liverpool drops point. Arsenal still have tough matches to play and those matches can determine a lot. Winning seven games in a row with the kind of pressure teams have towards the end of the season is no easy task.

Assuming it is City that is on top, I don't think that any club can take it from them.

If City was at the top of the season by this point of the season they'll definitely win it. Manchester don't joke around with opportunities like that. The mistake Man City made was not winning Arsenal and Liverpool in the second leg. I doubt Manchester City would drop points again, so they'll be hoping both teams drop points.
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin the best asset for investment currently? on: April 09, 2024, 08:17:24 PM
The decentralized and limited supply nature of Bitcoin makes it so unique. Bitcoin being decentralized makes it very difficult to manipulate. If Bitcoin were a centralized currency, I don't think it would have survived long enough for the cryptocurrency industry to be as big as it is today and if it was a centralized currency, it would have a limited supply because the owners would want to make more money.

Despite all these unique features, the reason I'll take Bitcoin as the best investment is because of how easy it is to get and how you can get it with any little amount you have. You don't have to break the bank to own Bitcoin, and it's relatively easy to liquidate.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Story of my life on: April 09, 2024, 12:36:03 PM
The opposite is the case for me.
Whenever I don't participate much in gambling I don't win. When I gamble like a part-time gambler, say like 2 or 3 times a week, I don't win. But when I gamble more during the week, I win more. It's not certain that I'll win when I gamble more, but I stand a higher chance.

I think it simply boils down to probability. The casinos have nothing to do with it. Lol at it like this, if I'm given 10 chances to pick a certain number from 1-100 from a set of hidden numbers, I'll stand a higher chance of getting the number someone is given 2 chances and that person has more chances than someone who has only one chance.

Is this a curse for Harry Kane because after he joined Bayern Munich this season, Bayern Munich failed to become champions this season?

It's not a curse, it's just the way it is. Some factors have made him more unsuccessful with trophies in his career. The same thing can happen to any player in his situation

At Tottenham, he gave his all, but the team doesn't seem serious enough or determined enough to win trophies. They got to the UCL final and bottled it with cheap goals against Liverpool. In the league, they always fail when it's time for them to achieve something. They're like the Dortmund of England. The difference is, they don't sell their players off to other teams. Even if they couldn't win the league, they should be able to win at least an FA Cup or Carabao Cup because there were seasons when they were in very good form.

The same with England. The English team is just filled with much hype and poor management. The same thing that always happens will repeat itself in the Euros this year. They have a good squad but the players are mostly more rated than they actually are and so is the coach.

With Bayern Munich, the team was already in decline since last season. They've been making various decisions that have led to this moment. Firing Nagelsmann and hiring Tuchel are two mistakes in one that they made. Making the players unhappy at the club and forcing them to stay is also a problem. See how difficult it was before they let Lewandoski go. I've never been a fan of forcing a player to stay. Instead, find ways to make the player happy at the club.
There's no cause for alarm though. Bayern are still in the Champions League and even if they don't win it, they still have next season. They already have a very high chance of winning the league next season. Bayern is a big team, one of the biggest in the world and they'll get back up.
253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 08, 2024, 11:42:28 PM
There is no doubt that Bayern Munich became a better team with Harry Kane, but Harry Kane could not reverse the downward trend of Bayern Munich in recent years. They were champions for the last 11 seasons, but last season they won the Bundesliga with the help of luck in the last game. Harry Kane had proved for years in the Premier League that he was a world star with his goals. I think he did the same thing in the Bundesliga. Harry Kane is a bit too unlucky. Bayern Munich was unbeatable in the Bundesliga for years, but we have to admit that in recent years they have been on a downward trend, but even Harry Kane has not been able to reverse it. If Osimhen doesn't choose the right team, I don't think he will be able to achieve better success no matter what he does.

Harry simply went to Bayern Munich at a bad time. If Dortmund had not bottled their lead last season, Bayern would have not won the league and that was before Kane. Kane has always been a good player. Currently, to me, he's the best attack in the world right now. He scores, crates a s assists goals, he even helps put defensively. He's a complete striker. We can all see what he's doing in Bayern Munich. It's not his fault the team is crumbling, he playing his part.

Also, people overemphasize this stuff. I mean the fact that Kane went to a team that has won trophies for 11 seasons and lost it the year he signed for them. Next season, Bayern will most likely win the league, and that's an opportunity to win a trophy. Bayern is not a team to stay down for long, they'll get back up soon enough. In their defense, any other team would be second to Bayer Leverkusen when you consider the kind of form they're in. They've not lost a match this whole season. That's pretty impressive. It just shows how good you have to be to take the league from Bayern Munich.
254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 08, 2024, 11:09:18 PM
I think Girona have been improving gradually over the years and the fact that their players have been playing together for long is another thing to their advantage. I don't expect expect to change anytime soon and that will mean that they would have transfoed from a low club to a top team. Of they eventually qualify for the Champions League next season in line with the expectations of their teaming supporters, that will be a big boost to their morale and team spirit. Indeed the future is looking so bright for them.

I like the project Girona is building. It's slow and it's steady. They're ready to take the long road and it will pay off if they keep at it. They need to build a team that would be a regular in Europe first before talking about building a team that will be a "top team". It doesn't have to be the Champions League alone, the Europa is a competition to build experience and confidence. Keep growing. Learn how to fight for a top 5 spot regularly, and know what it means. I don't believe any team just comes out and becomes a top team. The more they become popular, the more they attract good players and managers.

A major problem Girona is going to have is La Liga's financial restrictions and FFA. If they were in a league like the EPL, the league would even back them to sign players. Look at teams like West Ham, Newcastle, and Brighton signing big players to help them compete in Europe, this is something La Liga lacks and it's affecting the level of the league.
Hopefully, the next league management gets better than this one because the teams are suffocating and I wonder why the league isn't doing anything about this.
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 08, 2024, 10:30:10 PM
Arsenal performance is really good this season, I never expected them to keep on performing better till now, their performance this season is just better than last season, everyone expected what happened to Arsenal last season to repeat itself, but this season is just different. seriously Arsenal is really ready to win the trophy this season, and I won’t really be surprised if they win the league title this season. Arsenal haven’t been joking with their matches, they are playing well when playing against both weak and strong teams. The league title can’t be predicted this season, no one  is sure about the club that will be winning the league this season, but with Arsenal current performance, I won’t be surprised if they end up winning the league.

Arsenal finds themselves in a pretty good position, not the best but better than the other two teams. Now all Arsenal has to do is win all their remaining league games and they will be crowned league champions. That's doable, considering they have just 7 games left. It sounds easy, "win seven matches and you'll be league champions" but it gets complicated when you see that Arsenal still has to play Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United.
Of course, with Arsenal's current form, these are matches they can win, but can they win all of them? If they must drop points, they have to pray their competition drops points too, and looking at things, I doubt Manchester City will drop any more points.
Of all 3 of them, Manchester City has the easiest fixtures, but in football, you never can tell. If I were Arsenal I'll put all focus on the league and leave the Champions League.
256  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 08, 2024, 04:36:20 PM
I think in contrast to you, I personally appreciate the impact of the ETF more than the halving. But in the end it's all just news for sharks to legitimize their manipulation. To me, the movement of bitcoin or the cryptocurrency market is still more manipulated than based on supply and demand and that's why I don't put much hope in the big events that most people expect.
ETF won't have more impact than the halving. In fact, to be it's ETF that has the more shot term increase. Even before the EFT approval, I predicted this to happen. I knew it would have an impact and bitcoin price will increase but in a short period, there will be a correction. With the halving prive goes up over time, not over a short period of time like it was after ETF approval.
This has always been the behaviour of bitcoin during each halving, not like it's a certainty, there would be no risk if it was certain, but there a very high percent chance of it happening.
What makes this year's halving more unique is that the ETF approval has created more awareness to bitcoin, so that means more investors and more investors means more buying and higher price increase.

Corrections, when it comes to bitcoin are a normal thing. When bitcoin is manipulated, it usually has a short term effect before it corrects, but when it was determined by market forces and other economic and financial factors that affect the players, it's happens steadily.
Bitcoin price is hardly ever stable for a long period of time. It can only revolve around a certain range like how it was on 65 - 69 recently before finally breaking away to >70k.

It's okay to have your own investment style and trust your decision, but it not right to based it totally on a bunch or feeling. Intuition is good, but don't base your whole investment on that alone.
It's common knowledge that with bitcoin, long term investment is best, and this is a proven fact. If bitcoin price drops to 50k from 72 today, all you gotta really do is hold for much longer.
257  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 08, 2024, 10:07:25 AM
This is the financial market and I only believe in what I see, the movement of the market, I do not believe in stories of scarcity after halving or increased demand while supply decreased...There's nothing wrong with believing that in theory, but that's not how financial markets work.

The way to make money in the financial market is to predict which way the movement would be, isn't it? If your answer is yes, how are you going to make a profit if you don't predict right? Also, what tools do you use to predict?
You said that's not how the financial market works, so how does the financial market work?
Everything works with demand and supply, it's the factors affecting demand and supply that differ. If bitcoin price is falling, it means the demand for bitcoin is dropping. If bitcoin price is increasing, it means the demand for bitcoin is increasing. I know it's more complicated than it sounds, but that's the gist of the whole thing.

You can't predict a financial market without history. History is a big factor in speculation. If you feel they're just stories ask yourself, why does Bitcoin always have a bull run during the halving period?
The financial market is controlled by the players in that market and the players are controlled by factors. Whatever the players do with their investments, reflects on the price of bitcoin.

Comparing the run of BTC in ETF with halving is not exactly accurate. ETF is not as big as halving in the industry. Halving is something that has happened every 4 years since 2012 and each time we have seen a significant rise in the value of bitcoin. So with that history, don't you think there will be more investors and even current investors will want to buy more Bitcoin because they'll make more profit?
258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 06, 2024, 06:39:32 PM
With the champions league match they were having to play, I was a bit skeptical of they were actually going to rest some players but I guess I was all wrong and they went all out and came out with a really compose and nice Victory, at least this will keep up the pressure on their opponent at hand in the battle for the title of the English premier league this season.

I knew they were not going to rest players. Ordinary, players like Rodri and De Bruyne should have been rested but at this point of the season, Manchester City is not taking any chances. They want to fight for the league to the very end. It's very difficult for them to win it because they'll need both Arsenal and Liverpool to drop a point and they don't have to drop any point, but knowing the kind of team Manchester City is, they will fight for the league till the very last day.
I see Liverpool as the favorite to win the league now. If they win all their remaining matches, they'll be crowned champions while all the other teams will need a team or two to drop points.

Brighton's performance has declined now, they are unable to maintain the stability of the team's performance and I think that is quite natural because this squad is not filled with players who have good quality to be able to compete at the top of the Premier League standings.

Things like these don't surprise me. When you understand what it takes for top teams to remain at the top from the beginning of the season till the end then you'll understand how difficult it is to maintain a form for a whole season.
Brighton were very good at a point, but with time, their form dipped. A big team stays at a certain wavelength for the whole of the season. Smaller teams don't have that level of consistency so it always worries them.

I think this will probably go down as the season most beautiful and wonderful comeback, that's if there is any award or record like that but no jokes about the magic that the moment presented in the football world. People were actually mesmerized of how fast the  whole thing happen because I believe even Chelsea fans themselves have lost faith that they was any hope to salvage even a draw from the game.

I actually thought the game was done at 2-3. I mean what's the worst that could happen at that point? A draw? Yea, a draw was the best result Chelsea could get out of that game at 2-3 because 8 minutes into added time it was still 3-2 in favor of United. It's so unbelievable that 2 minutes later not only has Chelsea equalised, but they've also scored a winner.
United have no one to blame for this than themselves, especially for Palmer's 3rd goal. Palmer was completely unmarked. What made it more outrageous was the fact that he was right in front of all the Manchester United players and a few of them were pointing at him but no one went to mark him. That shows the level of poor leadership on the pitch for United.
If they had an experienced leader on the team who was respected, he could have screamed at a player to mark Palmer and that goal could have been avoided.
260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 05, 2024, 09:10:51 PM
honestly, if I could, I would have preferred him to win the championship match. Those three points would have been very useful to us, but now we have to suffer heavily. Honestly, I dont care about the Italian Cup at all like other fans like me, we want to see the European cups played!!

I don't agree with this. Juventus is 2 points ahead of Bologna which means they retain their third spot even though it's slim. They're 7 points ahead of Roma which means Roma has a slim chance of overtaking them, even though it's possible. The point is, a top 4 finish is almost certain for Juventus meaning they have a chance at Champions League football next season. They are not going to win the league, they'll remain in 3rd position even if they win against Lazio in the league.
But winning in the Copa Italia gives them a chance at winning silverware this season. It will be really bad if they finish the season without a trophy. Now they have a chance of getting to the final.
Juventus has a 2-goal advantage going into the second leg and if they manage to get to the final, they'll pay either Fiorentina or Atalanta, two teams they can win.
Winning the league match and losing the Coppa Italia match would have hurt more in my opinion.
