241  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SlowMist reports 80% of X comments related to phishing software on: February 03, 2024, 03:49:21 PM
https://bitcoinethereumnews.com/tech/slowmist-reports-80-of-x-comments-related-to-phishing-software/
"Cybersecurity company SlowMist analyzed social network X for malicious content.

Scam sleuths came to the conclusion that over 80% of comments under publications of well-known projects are related to phishing software.

That sounds really bad, I rarely use social media but I would be surprised if 80% of the links on X turned out to be phishing link. Apart from social media, phishing links also appear to spread via chat applications such as WA and Telegram

This month, two of my office friends' e-money accounts were hacked and maybe because they downloaded files from WA. Increasingly massive digitalization and a lack of knowledge about cyber security apparently makes fraudsters take advantage of it.
242  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make reading a habit on: February 03, 2024, 09:10:18 AM
I am sure people barely get time away from their screens (That includes me) and I haven't found any book recently which was too convincing for me to invest my time in it and read 200 pages.
In the past, I have read some economic books, some investments books too, and I think I have pretty much covered the great books already without making reading my habit so, I guess its random for me.

Yes, habits have changed and now we are busier in front of computer or cell phone screens. Now I rarely read books, but when I was in college I quite liked reading books, especially philosophy and sometimes also novels. When I like a book enough, I can stay up late to read it. I finished the Da Vinci Code almost without a break in my small boarding room, it took me two days and one night to finish 600 pages

I want to read regularly again because it has a positive impact on our frame of mind, but now work is enough to torment my mind and time.
243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 03, 2024, 07:44:20 AM
Investing is not gambling. In fact, if we invest carelessly, it is usually called gambling, but not in the true sense but only as a parable. Gambling is a game that involves risking money or something that has value and in reality it is very different from investment, and a ponzi scheme is a fraudulent motive that is usually affiliated with an investment motive, and I do not call it gambling but investment fraud

I never try to deliberately invest in something that will most likely be a scam in the future, but because you are ready for the risk and have good analysis before investing, then this is not a problem. But I like your way of managing risk

244  Economy / Gambling / Re: Responsible gambling on: February 03, 2024, 01:49:47 AM
To avoid the unbearable loses that is why we are always advice that one should stake a minimal amount that he or she can afford to lose and still be comfortable with at a time so as to avoid being in a position that may not be ok with them at the end of the bet due to uncontrollable staking and  betting with an amount that is out of they risk level.

To be a responsible gambler, is to know when to stake and when to give sometime, and also how much we stake, and that is control and discipline in general, that is the attributes of a responsible gambler.
This is advice that is often given but rarely followed, as when people are gambling the last thing they want to think is about restricting their actions and betting a small amount of money, they are so immersed on the activity that they will do what they can to keep it going, and if this means betting a big sum of money, that is exactly what they will do, but once that excitement is over and they begin to think about what they did, that is when they may begin to regret their actions.

However, in practice, sometimes it is not easy, greed is basic human nature. Often emotions come to blows and at that time it is difficult to stop gambling before all our wallets are gone, and after everything is gone we only realize and regret it.

In my opinion, slot machines are one of the games that make someone addicted to gambling, in my country there are lots of slot gamblers and they are often irresponsible in gambling, this is also what makes me prefer gambling on table games rather than slot machines, before getting addicted it seems more well I don't play slot machines, although sometimes I get curious when I find out someone has won a big jackpot  Grin

Your key to staying alive in the forum is logging in and that is enough to make you live in this forum (online), then you need to make a post so that other members know that you are still alive, you need to read so you are not confused about what you will write

Reading is a necessity and we need to read a lot to know many things and that is not only in this forum. If you read more books then you will get a lot of knowledge and maybe you can share it here.

Of course the senior members here can't leave the forum as they have already joined the signature campaign, if they don't go online and write something here for a week they will probably lose their weekly pay and will most likely be kicked out of the campaign. So it's not because they love reading so much that leaving the forum for a week would make them restless, but because of the campaign. lol  Cheesy
247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are people still interested in bankroll investment ? on: February 02, 2024, 07:40:30 AM
The question is in the subject  Kiss I’m genuinely just curious if people are still interested in this because I believe it’s a good way to “HODL” your bitcoin.

Do you mean investing in a casino bankroll? I've never done it before and I think it requires a large amount of capital to invest in a casino bankroll and like any investment, there are risks involved, such as losses or even having the money taken away by the casino. But I don't understand why you think investing in a casino bankroll is another way to hold bitcoin? if we hold bitcoin then we only need to keep our bitcoin, there is no risk in it as long as we can store it safely, the risk is only if there is a decline in the price of bitcoin but the amount we hold will remain the same
248  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [LEGAL] Diskusi Tentang Dasar Hukum Bitcoin (Cryptocurrency) di Indonesia on: February 02, 2024, 06:34:10 AM

249  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [Info] Rencana Google Merevisi Aturan Periklanan Mata Uang Kripto on: February 02, 2024, 02:58:53 AM

253  Local / India / Re: Everything is becoming shitty with the local board. on: February 01, 2024, 02:40:59 PM
Merit givers or merit sources are not to be seen., why? As they don't consider our replies worth enough, Is it because we are not worthy enough or the first or they do not consider us suitable to get merits?  I wonder why they are not responding to posts and assume they are busy with their own problems, but will it continue?

Looking forward to your replies and suggestions!

Sorry, I saw your post and opened it. I don't know what's going on, but it seems like you're really angry here.

I don't know how the merit source in the Indian local board distributes the merit to local members, but in our local board (Indonesia) the merit source distributes it to active members every month evenly, and members who have good posts will be appreciated more. I think merit sources in local board have a duty to support local member. Maybe you need to contact him privately and talk about this. Good luck guys

Does India already have merit sources? If not, perhaps you can contact one of the merit sources to help your local board.
254  Other / Meta / Re: BCT vs BTT abbreviation for this forum on: February 01, 2024, 10:27:51 AM
Bitcointalk it's for "Bit Coin Talk" or Bi Tcoin Talk" ?
I want to know your logic if you answer the 2nd solution.
Bitcoin is a word, although formed from two words, but one word in the crypto lexicon. Bitcoin-talk could just be BT according to m2017, but...
Exactly. Nobody perceives the word “bitcoin” as two separate words anymore (Bit-Coin). Bitcoin is currently an independent word, like a brand or trademark. Nobody reads Micro-Soft . For everyone, it's Microsoft. Something whole and complete. Therefore, Bitcoin should not be abbreviated as BC, but only B is sufficient. If we consider this word in isolation from bitcointalk.

AFAIK, In fact, there are no special rules for abbreviations, usually abbreviations are used to make pronunciation easier

If Bitcoin uses the abbreviation BC, BC is more popular as the abbreviation Before Christ

Quote from: cambridge.com
(ii) B.C. stands for 'Before Christ', meaning before the birth of Christ. For example, a time period written as 200 B.C. means 200 years before the birth of Christ.

So bitcoin is abbreviated as BTC because it is easier to call and is not affiliated with other abbreviations that have been used previously.

So bitcointalk can be any abbreviation, the important thing is that it's easy to say and that other people understand what we mean. Or is it better not to use abbreviations? lol  Grin
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VPN - Differences between countries where gambling is legal and not on: February 01, 2024, 10:13:28 AM
Hi, guys

Maybe I actually want to ask how do countries that legalize gambling protect gamblers? Does the country have a special institution to regulate gambling? Or does the state legalize gambling just to collect taxes and not pay much attention to legal protection for gamblers? if there is no significant difference then there is no difference from countries that prohibit gambling because VPN can be used to bypass

I think, the protection for gamblers probably depends on the where casino is registered and regulated. I don't know much about that, better to ask that question in this thread: AMA: I Operate an Online Casino.

Thanks budd
256  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Pajak di Indonesia [Taxes in Indonesia] on: February 01, 2024, 09:36:44 AM

~ pemikiran pemerintah emang gimana gan?

~ bebas full maksudnya gimana gan?
257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe visiting a seer or spiritual house could make you win a game? on: February 01, 2024, 04:55:20 AM

So I was wondering if there is any connectivity here, or do you believe such could happen in your own situation? Can you do such a thing to win? Have you had the experience of going to such places to seek predictions on how the outcome or results of games could be if they worked in your favor or not? Have you had anyone say or tell you such before and how their experience was?

I myself have never had an experience like this and never thought about doing it at all. In my opinion it's just a myth and after all gambling is all about probability so it can't be predicted with the power of magic, maybe there are people who can do it but most people are fraudsters.

But in the past, when lottery was still popular in my country, people would go to haunted places like caves or cemeteries to get predictions about lottery numbers that would come out, that happened when I was a kid so I don't really remember it, and now that's the practice there is no more.

Can I ask for help to fix my friend's account that was hit by a proxy ban?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3597593

Thanks

Sorry, LoyceV

I recommended my friend to join the forum because he saw me when I opened the forum at work and he was curious to join too. But I saw that his posts were very bad and all his posts were deleted by the moderator, I only found out when he told me why his posts were always deleted.

I didn't know that he had never joined any forums, so he was still very new to the forum discussion format. Sorry if I recommended the wrong person, but I will try to teach him how to comment and discuss

~snip~

If I'm Satoshi Nakamoto How do I prove it?

It's easy, if Satoshi could disappear without anyone knowing then he would know how to come back and how to prove himself

If someone claims to be Satoshi and is busy trying to prove it, he is clearly not Satoshi. Satoshi knew how to disappear and he definitely knew how to come back, if he disappeared without planning it then he would never come back
