241  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Texans organize 'Operation Counter Jade Helm' to keep an eye on the federal troo on: July 12, 2015, 06:48:58 PM

I never said the purposes of these exercises was to kill or imprison Americans. I simply said that it's not paranoid to want to keep an eye on an institution that has those powers. It's a really simple position actually. Not sure why you're having such a hard time deciphering it.

Nothing to decipher.
242  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Texans organize 'Operation Counter Jade Helm' to keep an eye on the federal troo on: July 12, 2015, 06:46:34 PM

I'm not wiggling out of anything. I never said that the military exercises were for the purpose of killing or imprisoning anyone. I simply said that it is not paranoid to want to keep an eye on the institution that has those powers and has historically abused them.

Please. Then why the hell did you choose those words? Coin toss?
243  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Texans organize 'Operation Counter Jade Helm' to keep an eye on the federal troo on: July 12, 2015, 06:41:38 PM
can you imagine a special forces guy taking part in some sort of occupation of texas? buncha sickos.
Apparently, Texans think they are living in a foreign country. Sick is right. Pretty damn stupid as well.

I can imagine a military doing a lot of immoral things. It's not that hard if you know anything about history.

Paranoia is imagination. Again, that's the whole point.
244  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Texans organize 'Operation Counter Jade Helm' to keep an eye on the federal troo on: July 12, 2015, 06:38:33 PM

Never said that was what they were there for, just that it's not paranoid to want to keep an eye on the institution with the legal authority to kill, imprison, and tax people.

LOL. Riiiight. The government also has the legal authority to defend the nation, which is what the exercise is about. Your choice of words is obvious. Trying to wiggle out of it is absurd.
245  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Texans organize 'Operation Counter Jade Helm' to keep an eye on the federal troo on: July 12, 2015, 06:23:57 PM

And the height of paranoia is wanting to keep an eye on an institution that has the legal authority to kill, imprison, and tax people, because those kinds of powers have never been abused before, right?

Yep, that's the whole point. Thinking the military is there to kill and imprison people. Classic paranoia.

"If the government wants to put troops in place for a takeover, they aren't going to put them in Bastrop," [Johnston] said.

Put troops in place for a takeover? Ummm...Texas is already part of the United States. These people are whacked, which makes the following comment even more entertaining:

But the organizers insist the radically conspiracy-minded have been filtered from the surveillance volunteers, and no one among their group fears the imminent opening of concentration camps. Lanteri said he struggles to keep that bloc off his Facebook page.

247  Other / Politics & Society / Is a mini ICE AGE on the way? Scientists warn the sun will 'go to sleep' on: July 12, 2015, 05:05:25 PM
"The Earth could be headed for a 'mini ice age' researchers have warned.

A new study claims to have cracked predicting solar cycles - and says that between 2020 and 2030 solar cycles will cancel each other out.

This, they say, will lead to a phenomenon known as the 'Maunder minimum' - which has previously been known as a mini ice age when it hit between 1646 and 1715, even causing London's River Thames to freeze over."

248  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama To Make Historic Visit To Federal Prison on: July 12, 2015, 04:47:19 PM
This is an interesting news item. There is no question that our per capita rate of imprisonment leads the world by a huge margin and that it has been that way for decades. If Obama follows through with some real actions that POTUS can do, then it will mean something. Otherwise it seems like only lip service.

We lead the world in incarceration percentage only because in much of the world crime is a way of life.
249  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pelosi: After Death of Kate Steinle, Congress Has ‘Moral Responsibility’ on Gun on: July 11, 2015, 07:20:41 AM
But he could always kill her with something else. Oh snap.

From 50 feet away? And three shots in rapid succession?

Nope.

China has immigrants. Japan has immigrants. Spain has immigrants.

none of them have gun crime. Wonder why?
250  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pelosi: After Death of Kate Steinle, Congress Has ‘Moral Responsibility’ on Gun on: July 11, 2015, 07:10:43 AM
I'm pretty sure it was the illegal immigrant that killed Kate Steinle. In fact I'm positive.

The illegal immigrant wouldn't have gotten the gun if there were universal background check and safe storage laws.
251  Other / Politics & Society / Pelosi: After Death of Kate Steinle, Congress Has ‘Moral Responsibility’ on Gun on: July 11, 2015, 07:07:37 AM
The gun used in the recent San Francisco shooting was stolen from it's owner's car. Since there are no federal laws requiring gun owners to safely lock up their guns when not in use, a thief was easily able to steal them.

The gun was then sold in a private sale to Ms. Steinle's murderer. Since there are no universal background check laws, an illegal immigrant with a felony record was able to buy the gun, when he could have easily been stopped by a background check.

One thing is clear. "Sanctuary cities" did not kill Kate Steinle. The USA's insanely loose gun laws did.

252  Other / Politics & Society / Sanders: 'We Have Got to Apologize for Slavery' on: July 11, 2015, 07:04:00 AM
Presidential hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) has made the proclamation that “as a nation, we have got to apologize for slavery.”

During an interview with Joe Madison on Sirius XM’s “The Black Eagle,” Madison asked Sanders, “If elected President of the United States, would you apologize for slavery?”

Sanders replied, “You know, obviously, nobody in this generation is involved in slavery. But as a nation, slavery is one of the abominations that our country has experienced. There is no excuse. What can we say about it? It was horrific, it killed millions of people who never made it even across the ocean, and it destroyed just the lives of so many people.”

“So as a nation – and I don’t think as a president, but as a nation – we have got to apologize for slavery, of course,” he continued.

Madison then pressured Sanders to respond directly to whether he would apologize for slavery as president by asking, “So is that a yes or a no?”

Sanders said, “Well, it’s a… I mean… I’m not exactly sure what it means. As a nation, we have got to apologize for slavery, and of course, the president is the leader of the nation.”

Sanders’ statements on slavery come after a Fox News poll revealed the candidate is not popular among black Democrats. Only 5 percent of black Democrats stated they would like to see Sanders as the Democratic presidential nominee, compared to 68 percent for Hillary Clinton.

So now that everyone is riding the slavery bandwagon, who apologizes and who receives it? As wrong as slavery was, how many people would not be here today if it hadn't existed? If we apologize for slavery then those in this generation who benefited from it should publicly thank those who suffered in order for them to have the relatively cushy lives they curretly have. And if we apologize for having slaves, then shouldn't the people who sold them to us also apologize?

Benghazi? Old news.

IRS scandal? Old news.

Slavery? It's still alive and well and living in America, or at least one would think so.
253  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 07:30:36 PM
And we naturally do that by allowing them to come to the West and sign up for welfare benefits, intermixing with our own population. It's a great strategy so far.

Don't wear yourself out building those Straw men.

You mean like Hitler and the Nazi's were Europe's problem? Or like the Taliban/Al Qaeda was an Afghanistan problem?
At what point do you stomp on a cockroach? Do you smash the first one you see or do you wait until your entire house is infested?

Your argument would only hold water is US intervention doesn't make the situation worse. Which it will.
254  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 05:51:27 PM
So contrary to what you said before you do believe the solution requires the involvement of actual influential people in the west?

Is ISIS somehow oblivious to the influence of western culture? Or could it possibly be the main reason they are accepting of such violence in the first place? Why do you think America is the great Satan? Why do you think a war between factions and a Starbucks on every corner is going to change that?

Who said anything about influential *people*?

The Arab Spring was driven by YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter and that was just the beginning.
255  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 05:30:09 PM
And that's what's going to fix the motivation for the violent promotion of Islamic supremacy?

"...And couple hundred more years of exposure to western culture and the Internet".....
256  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 05:25:07 PM
You stated that "Arabs need to fix it".So..if they don't then what?

Then when ISIS beats Syria and then Iraq, they'll have to deal with an Iranian invasion of Mesopotamia to protect their Shiite allies. Or they'll have to deal with direct ISIS assaults on their own territory.
257  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 05:22:34 PM
Or else what?

What do you mean "or else what"? Are you operating under the delusions that ISIS will ever be anything more than a brutal failed state regardless of the territory it controls?
258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 05:19:57 PM
So you're under the impression that the solution to this problem requires the involvement of "actual influential people" in the west?

That's what most people are arguing.
Personally, I say it's an Arab problem and Arabs need to fix it.
259  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 05:18:07 PM
Of course. Without support from people who think ISIS is good it would not exist.

I'm talking about actual influential people in the West.
260  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Rounds Up Mothers and Children and Burns Them Alive in Caliphate on: July 10, 2015, 05:16:52 PM
How do you solve the problem of a rabid dog? There are two solutions. You can euthanize it, or you can isolate it and attempt to cure it.

But in either case first step is diagnosis. Before you solve the problem you have to come to the conclusion that the dog is ill in the first place.

Is there anyone denying ISIS exists and is bad?
