241  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox issues on: December 19, 2011, 03:09:04 AM
Well, you are lucky that you got anything back.  I had my account hacked (about a week ago) all of my $ traded to BTC, and withdrawn.  Lost about $1k.  The hacker changed my account email address and password, all without any confirmation to my original email account.  I found out because I received an email stating there was a withdrawal from my account, I immediately replied asking that my account be frozen and that I did not authorize the trade.  I couldn't log in to my account nor could I recover my password (since my email was changed).  Anyway, they closed my several support tickets and refuse to help me in any way.

Hi MSIN

We are sincerely very sorry to hear that you have been a victim of this kind of fraudulent activity. From the information we have it looks as though your private data was stolen and used to gain access to your account to change your password. You can contact us for more info.

Despite your belief, Mt.Gox has not been hacked in any way and trading on Mt.Gox is still safe/secure. The way in which your account was taken over proves this point (again, you can contact us for more details).

That all being said, regrettably, it is to late for us to do anything with respect to recovering your funds.

Besides general security tips (strong passwords, not clicking links in emails, not opening unfamiliar attachments) to try and avoid this from happening again, our only suggestion is to buy a Yubikey. If you are not familiar a Yubikey operates as a 2-factor, one time password and thus, will make your account impervious to these types of attacks as the attacker would require both your password and the physical key to gain entry. Us asking you to buy a Yubikey may seem like salt in the wound after you've been victimized like this, however it is our sincere suggestion that you get one if you continue on as our customer or even if you decide to join a different exchange.

We also hope that this experience will not turn you away from using bitcoin in the future.

I have, had $1k stolen from my MtGox account (via BTC withdrawals).  I will never use them again and I recommend others use an exchange with better security.  MtGox is responsible for the great BTC crash and I can guarantee you it will happen again, and everyone will lose a shit load of money again.

A few hours ago, someone was able to get into my Mt. Gox account, change the password and change the wallet address.  I have not be able to log in yet, but I assume that the a**hole that accessed my account took out my 225 btc that was in there.

Stupidly I also used the same password for a few of my pool accounts, which the hacker has since hijacked.

Has anyone else had a problem today?

Even if you haven't, be sure you're using a strong password and not using the same password among sites.
\

Hey friend, exact same thing happened to me!  I lost about 270 BTC.  Account email and password were changed.  MtGox has done nothing about it, closed my support ticket with no resolution.  I was not victim of phishing, this was a straight up hack.  Probably more to come, I would recommend that people get out of MtGox asap.

Looks like you are having about the same issue with MtGox that I am and getting about the same terrible results.....Hopefully MtGox will loose many accounts and go under.....What a piece of crap site it is....

I agree, I'm convinced they stole money from me, withdrew all of my BTC.

246  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox not processing BTC withdrawals on: December 15, 2011, 01:20:50 AM
I've been waiting on a withdrawal for 17 hours now.  After 3 hours I sent a support request and immediately received a response:

Quote from: Mt.Gox Support Desk
We are experiencing some delays with bitcoin withdrawals. If it is resolved, it will appear on the block explorer. Thank you for your kind understanding and patience in the process. We will notify you once it shows up on the network.

I'll be generous and assume that "If it is resolved" means "When it is resolved" -- probably an English-as-a-second-language thing.  But clearly they are having problems.  It makes Mt. Gox pretty useless as an online wallet right now.  If the withdrawal does not go through soon, I will have to contact the store I was sending the payment to and arrange to send a separate payment and have them refund the extra payment from Mt. Gox whenever it arrives, otherwise I risk not getting the item I ordered in time for Christmas.

Well, please check your ticket and you will see what happened ;-)

Now let me explain what happened here that everybody who's in the same situation may find some piece! What Twobitcoins did was to sent BTC from one Mt.Gox Wallet to another Mt.Gox wallet, in this very case all transactions are instantly confirmed and done without going through the blockchain.

I'm surprised about this statement and would love to know your ticket number that we can check this out since we do not have any problems with Bitcoins withdrawals lately.
248  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox not processing BTC withdrawals on: December 14, 2011, 06:24:16 AM
I've received the transfer 2 hours ago, many thanks! I'm closing ticket right now.

Also, I can't get rid of the feeling that this may happen again, just because it happened twice in a row. Could you please check this human or machine error, so it could never be an issue again, just like all time before. I and many other people would be very grateful for that.

Thank you.

We are going to investigate it.
249  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox not processing BTC withdrawals on: December 14, 2011, 04:08:00 AM
Hello,

i really don't like complaining, but this one is serious. I just closed ticket about btc withdrawal this morning and have to open another one right now.
I can understand Mtgox problems with fiat or e-money for sure.
But I cannot see any single reason why bitcoin withdrawals are delayed for days! You should take care of that asap and high priority.

FYI i see the connection between this problem and withdrawals count per day. Previously, when number of withdrawals per day were just a few, I never dealt with such problems.

Can you provide us your new ticket number? Just checked with MagicalTux and everything is going smoothly... So, once again, we need your ticket number that I can check this matter directly with him and find why you have such problems.
250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox issues on: December 13, 2011, 08:15:55 AM
FIY regarding unsquidly's matter, the problem has been located we will not comment further on this matter on the forum, but the investigation will continue and be focused on the person or the group of person involved in this and we hope to quickly restore unsquidly's account shortly.

We are now checking all activities on your account, give us some more time that we can get into the bottom of this.
252  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox issues on: December 13, 2011, 03:16:56 AM
Well....Week three of this whole deal and still no word from MtGox as to when, if ever, I will have access to my account and my BTC again.....This is bull shit customer service....No emails, pms on here or anything except their litte bits of "lip service" on this and a couple of other threads.....

How about an update, MtGox and maybe let's try something a little more private this time.....

Send me your ticket number by PM to reconfirm the situation.

Regards
PM Sent

Ok, Thank you, we've checked, again, and we can only re-confirm what MagicalTux said to you last time. So basically we will contact you once the situation has been cleared by the authorities one way or another.

This could be either due to the fact the scan was of too low quality, or other reasons. In that case a police investigation is opened to allow a check against the actual ID database of the issuing country or state.

I'm curious about which countries are allowing you access to their government ID databases.  That's highly protected information in a lot of places and it can't be accessed by third parties without both a good reason and the permission of the person about whom you're seeking information.

Or do you mean that you're reporting these to authorities as possible fraud/money laundering cases?  I think you need to be very clear about it if your SOP is now reporting any case where a customer doesn't verify on request or where verification is inadequate to authorities for formal investigation of that customer's identity.

I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't comply with AML/CTF regulations, but I do think that you should be totally transparent with your customers about what that compliance entails.  We aren't just talking about you disclosing information in response to law enforcement requests or court orders here, we're talking about you actively initiating investigations.  Making this policy very public might actually deter some wannabe fraudsters from using your service, which would save you guys a lot of headaches and lead to fewer pissed off customers.

I cannot answer on behalf of MagicalTux, but we only disclose such data to Japanese law enforcement or issuing country when fake documents are found.

I foolishly put 500 coins through Mt.Gox and withdrew the $1250 over two ago (26th November) knowing their Liberty Reserve transactions were slow and their web says it might take a maximum of two weeks.  Having waited the indicated two weeks I get this support reply:

Mt.Gox Support, Dec-12 09:59 (JST):
Hello Patrick,
Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we have no expected date for when Liberty Reserve withdrawals will be processed yet. We are working to add more funds to our Liberty Reserve account and will notify you once this has been done.

It's astonishing how much trouble they have keeping their accounts funded.  Wonder if their LR account is under investigation like their Paxum account.

Under investigation... Really? Paxum = Nothing to Report, everything works just fine. As for LR it will be done today.

Just for the sake of the argument, I personally double check our Paxum status and account and everything works like it should, we have deposit and withdrawal logged up until today so I am not sure what's going on for you guys. Could you please kindly open a ticket in the support that we can figure out why you have problems?
257  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox issues on: December 13, 2011, 02:37:54 AM
Yes I did, now I know what the situation is. Basically what happened is that I voulanterely decided to verify my account, so I sent you the scans, you didn't like the scan quality and disabled my account.

My mistake, I should have never decided to verify the account and all would be ok.

To everybody reading this: Never try to verify an account that has positive balance. If there is anything wrong with the scans, they will disable your withdrawal options. But hey, you can still deposit new money, that part works just fine, lol.

You have to understand that it is important to get scan and other documents in perfect quality to make sure who's who, also remember that this measure is to make sure that the BTC and other assets are handed to the correct persons. I am sure that if you send us proper documents everything will be in order.

PS I you can't imagine how many fake or expired document we receive from people and sometimes for the same account! So please understand that our goal here is to protect you, nothing else
PS II Send me your Ticket Number via PM and I'll check personally this matter.

The same thing happened to my personal account today. I have a few thousand USD in my account and now I can't access my own money. No message from mtgox, nothing. Looks like my account has been deleted.

Hi, did you open a ticket that we can check this out? If so could you please give me the ticket number (here or PM, as you like) that I can check this further? (All answer will to this will be replied via our support platform)

260  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox Troubles on: December 09, 2011, 04:57:02 AM
Ok....Since it looks like I am not the only one that has had a lot of trouble with MtGox......I thought that I would make a little poll to see just how many have had trouble with them......Maybe the knuckleheads at MtGox will see this and wake up....

There are others, but your frustration is noted and shared. But believe me when I say this, if your generally new to MTGOX, you haven't seen troubles... We went through a lot of problems... Some might have folded and went away... but he stuck it out and kept plugging away at it.

He is probably the most trustworthy tho... think about that... would you want problems and still have your money.. or hunky dory and be broke.

I don't have my money.....See my other post on MtGox....I can't access my account with MyGox.....

On the other post it is mentioned that there is problem with your account, please comply to change this once and for all, we are not interested in problems we just want to protect our customers and do things like they should be done.
