241  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and not Paying Taxes on: January 05, 2018, 10:11:54 PM
We don't have to worry about taxes for the cryptocurrency, at least for now. Because most countries do not have regulation about paying taxes if citizens convert bitcoin to fiat currency, unless you live in the US then you have to pay tax for capital gains because IRS said so.
There is plenty of room to avoid bitcoin taxes for Americans such as send bitcoin to your family or friend in Europe to convert bitcoin and then transfer the money through banks or remittance, but no need to avoid taxes obviously, just pay it.
242  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-1-5] Mark Zuckerberg wants to introduce cryptocurrency to facebook on: January 05, 2018, 02:51:08 PM
Zuckerberg also announced that he is interested in studying the positive and negative aspects of this technology and will consider how to implement their potential on Facebook.

Consider means nothing, there is too many news reported about a country or a company "consider" to accept or regulate cryptocurrency but nothing implemented so far.
Don't get me wrong, yes it's a good news if Mark Zuckerberg will adopt cryptocurrency in Facebook, but without any real implementation, we can't expect too much of this news.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Pending transaction since 12/20 on: January 04, 2018, 11:56:02 PM
Thanks,

Do you mean the Coinify Trade ID ?

Or :

1HHWh5HxmCR9441nK2Q3gtrpGJCCuoKkYm

Where do you live? "Coinify" is an exchange in your country?
a little bit confused as you said: sold via the blockchain application. Coinify is a blockchain application?
if you are using an exchange to convert bitcoin into fiat, there is nothing to do but wait, it will be credited to your bank account.
244  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin worth it or not? on: January 04, 2018, 11:38:13 PM
should i buy btc, or just mine it by my self?

Depending on how much money you are willing to invest in bitcoin?
For example, if you have $10,000 just divide to buy an ASICs and buy bitcoin.
The easiest way to get profits by holding bitcoin, you will see it growing bigger over time, yes, go ahead and buy bitcoin right now. it won't crash anytime soon.
How about mining? it will be profitable if your electricity cost is less than $0.1 and may takes 6 months to get ROI, but after that, welcome to the profit.
245  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex not allowing withdrawal on: January 03, 2018, 11:39:03 PM
No it has been two months. Not 10 minutes. On the verification page it states "this takes 10 minutes" 2 months ago.

Thanks for the link.

You have submitted all the info for verification since 2 months ago?
Yes, there are thousand similar problems waiting to be solved by Bittrex.
Have you done this?
Capturing facial photographs, passports and detailed address information just for trading crypto-to-crypto is beyond the pale IMO. You even need to do it now just to withdraw the slightest holding of sh*tcoin. The other thing I think is disingenuous if not outright deceitful is capturing thousands of people's passport details in the name of "protecting their identity".
246  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-02] Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund Makes Monster Bet on Bitcoin on: January 03, 2018, 04:55:02 PM
$15 Million dollars invested in bitcoin since mid-2017 has worth more than hundreds of millions of dollars right now, such a great investment from rich people.
How about average people? Don't even think to sell your bitcoin, more financial firms will come and buy bitcoin. One thing for sure, bitcoin can reach higher price, if you sell it at the current price, then you will regret it later.
But, how if these rich people start to sell off? Bitcoin price will get corrected, it's a normal thing as a speculative object will always fluctuate based on the demand on the global market.
247  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to predict the market ? on: January 02, 2018, 03:49:17 PM
Every coin affect by the market demands, for example; some exchanges didn't list xrp a few weeks ago but after it pumped and reach $1, more exchanges listed xrp but before this happen to xrp market, some news regarding its development and acceptance in businesses and companies makes it happen.
So, two things that really affect the price of a coin are development and acceptance, even bitcoin cash suddenly increases due to bitcoin lose its value.
Why is bitcoin losing its value? Simply because bitcoin development which can't afford scale transactions and investors looking for an alternative coin to test it.
248  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kraken stole my deposit 1750 euro and refuses to answer me. on: December 31, 2017, 11:55:28 PM
It's christmas their support is probably full of requests and they are back logged. Give it another week before thinking about getting lawyers involved.

Don't you read what Op said? It's been a month, not just a few days during Christmas
For a month I have been opening support tickets and they get closed without reply and marked as solved by a Bruno.

For Op: you may hire a lawyer or just visit their office in San Fransisco, depend on where do you live? and how much it costs, whether it worth for 1700 euros or not.
https://craft.co/kraken
I will post here if find their exact address.
Unfortunately I can't find one.

You may want to read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4cefqt/is_krakencom_a_scam/

There is a reply from krakenexchange:

Apologies for the late reply on this. Please PM me your ticket number and I'll make sure our support team is looking in to this for you.
249  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-30] Crypto Exchange Poloniex to Impose Customer ID Requirements on: December 31, 2017, 11:41:55 PM
It's inevitable and become a common thing with all of the exchanges, but some things run differently in the US and in others countries about KYC policy such as Poloniex may require some things:
Even if they could verify people in a timely manner, why should I feel safe verifying with them? They are asking for a full social security number now, along with passport/DL and HD selfie!

For people who live in the US, but it will be different for people who live in third world countries as not everyone has social security number, but definitely has an ID.
If you don't want to go through all the process of verification, just move towards another exchange without ID requirements.
250  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best Exchange For New Traders on: December 31, 2017, 11:25:20 PM
I personally chose Bittrex and Binance as my two first options. Pretty straight to the point and quite noob-friendly if you ask me, as I've used both since the start of my crypto journey, and never had a problem with both(besides withdrawal fees are quite high depending on which coins). Though you cant trade fiat with both exchanges, only through USDT(tethers).

My 3rd option would be Bitfinex. Why? Because it's pretty much only one of the few exchanges that accepts IOTA.

EDIT: Just found out right now. Didn't know binance already accepted iota. whoops.

I have same reasons with him, have used Bittrex for my first time got into trading, and lately, since bittrex get so many problems, just use binance and it works so well.
But mostly, I use local exchange in my country to trade bitcoin and altcoins, ripple gets so many attentions obviously.
Local exchange in my country is a better exchange compare to most global exchange as it provides a way to deposit and withdraw fiat currency through banks transfer, so easy to do that. Well, people in another country may have same reason with me, such as people in South Korea use BitHumb or people in Japan use bitFlyer.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating New Coin - No premine, non profit, fully for community on: December 31, 2017, 11:15:02 PM
I'm not a technical or developer but want to ask some questions, hopefully, you don't mind about it, no offense.
- fully for community, what does it mean as this is a non-profit coin? what is the purpose of this coin?
- which community? this forum or for everyone in crypto-world?
I appreciate your efforts, but people use a coin based on its utility, this new coin that you want to create, it requires resources to make it stand and you are willing to provide that. But, how about the value of this coin? Back to my question (what is the purpose of this coin?), if people want to use this coin, it should has a value to become a medium of exchange or something.
252  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Coin Geeks we host your miners! on: December 31, 2017, 10:46:41 PM
Yes, of course... People are looking for these hosting companies... telegram, bitcointalk... etc. especially gigawatt section
I have antminer d3... about billing, is it one time hosting bill and then each month payment for power usage if i am correct?

also could you give more info/details on this? thanks
Quote
Our identities are honestly really easy to search for (HINT; our corp is registered in Utah), we just didn't feel the need to blast it out to the world.

The math for your Antminer D3 breaks down like this:

1.2 (kw) * .10 (facility+power charge) * 24 (hours) * 30 (days) + 127 (service charge).

That number is EVERY MONTH. However, power usage usually comes in lower than the estimated averages, and so we typically will end up issuing a credit for the underutilization.

>also could you give more info/details on this?

What exact information are you looking for? You can run a search and figure out exactly who we are VERY easily.

Thanks!

$127 service charge per month? which mean around $4.2 per day, it's pretty big.
You keep saying your identity is really easy to find, we will find out about it later.
But, how about some pictures and videos about your colocation place, ASICs or whatever you got in your facility?

One thing that really annoying.
Can I visit the facility?
Unfortunately, we are not giving tours of our facility at this time. We will be doing live streams on a fairly regular basis, so you can follow us on social media for the latest!

People will send their mining hardware but can't visit your place? People will trust you if they can visit your place.
253  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Movie about Bitcoin's underlying technique on: December 31, 2017, 10:32:01 PM
Good job, it's very helpful for most people who never learn about how bitcoin or blockchain works and what makes it powerful, distributed and unhackable due to there is no bitcoin store in our hardisk, smartphone or usb stick. I find it very informative and interesting to watch this video, but it has a pretty long duration, you may divide into 2 parts (7 minutes) to make it more interesting and people curious to watch the next video.
254  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's up with arbitrage on: December 31, 2017, 03:49:40 PM
Has anybody tried intra-site arbitrage, i.e. finding triangles (e.g. BTC->ETH->IOTA->BTC) that give you small gains without the need to transfer funds between exchanges? I guess on Bitfinex those inefficiencies are closed immediately but I'm wondering whether there are reasonable opportunities on sites with smaller volumes.

If you buy BTC->ETH->IOTA->BTC again in an exchange, that's called trading not arbitrage anymore as arbitrage is the simultaneous buying and selling of securities, currency, or commodities in different markets or in derivative forms in order to take advantage of differing prices for the same asset.
Yes, it's profitable even though you trade on an exchange with smaller trading volume, most people do the same thing, some makes profits while others not so lucky.
255  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-30] Australian Freeze: Big Aussie Banks Denying Bitcoiners on: December 30, 2017, 11:52:49 PM
The war against bitcoin which started by banks already begun. There are a lot of cases where banks cracked down exchanges accounts in bank or freeze bitcoiners accounts such as in this article.
Since bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency and the bank is centralized, it seems like bitcoin is the natural enemy of banks.
The problem is banks do it without legal laws issued by governments, as long as there is no regulation that state bitcoin is illegal, people are free to transact bitcoin or using banks as an intermediary to deposit/withdraw to exchanges.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP’s Trajectory for 2018 on: December 30, 2017, 10:58:05 PM
In the last few days, XRP is seen not following the direction of Bitcoin that is falling down. XRP even increased up to 70%. This shows that the movement of cryptocurrency is not fully triggered by the bitcoin price movement. Is it when the bitcoin price drops, everything goes down and otherwise? No. Because some altcoins like Stellar, Ripple, Dash, and BTS are proven to give resistance and go in different directions. Right now XRP was in number 2 on CMC, this should be a great movement for its future.

Everyone is ditching their Bitcoins and spending those on Ripple. That is why it is going up

And when the time comes, people will cash out from ripple and allocate their funds to bitcoin.
But, we don't know when it will happen as xrp seems still has the attraction in the market, maybe like Op said; xrp towards $10.
I have some money invested in xrp as well and planned to cash out at $5 marks if it can increase a little higher, maybe hold it a little longer will be more profitable.
257  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to 'clean' my bitcoin? on: December 30, 2017, 10:27:34 PM
I try with helixlightgrams.com
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/a4a594c915093a32fd796c639c6415e11e6bf0a6a0c47012b610a45b169474fa

service is very fast, money coming after 1 confirmation
This is very cheap way to introduce your own site with two newbie accounts no one going to use this service many good bitcoin mixer sites already working here now some Ether mixer services also joining them good luck for your this try

This is a scam site obviously, the same person with 2 accounts tried to deceive newbies here.
Do not ever send bitcoin to an unknown site which claims "to laundry your dirty coins", LoL. I can't stop laugh when reading what Op have written.
258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ridiculous BTC Prices Predictions by Experts? on: December 30, 2017, 05:48:34 PM
There are no experts if we're discussing price in the future, only some analyst who predicted about bitcoin price.
Yes, $500K or $1 Million seems impossible for now as bitcoin still struggle to holds its position above $12K.
But, it ever happens when bitcoin starts this year with the price $980, even myself can't believe if bitcoin could reach $20,000 as I thought the best price maybe around $2K. If you don't want to talk about it, just don't but let others imagine about bitcoin in the future, that's a long way to get in there though.
259  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-29] FT: EXMO Director Released From Kidnap After Paying $1 Mln Ransom on: December 30, 2017, 01:46:16 PM
From now on, every exchanges operator have to be careful in every situation that might lead to such criminals attempt.
It's inevitable since they are known as the personage in big exchanges, operators are the preys for criminals out there.
Pavel is currently in a state of major stress, he has lost $1 Million in bitcoin, whoever experienced the same thing will feel it, how pity he is.
This incident just make the name of bitcoin become worse as people may think; criminals can receive ransomware in for of bitcoin as the easy way to get money.
260  Economy / Economics / Re: Do crypto exchange rates matter? on: December 30, 2017, 12:54:59 PM
Ok so I have to buy BTC and trade it for XRP in order to obtain some Ripple. Knowing how the forex market works, im wondering if I bought my BTC at 16k instead of 18k, would I be able to afford more XRP compared to buying BTC at 18k? or is it the exchange rate constant?

Thanks for the replies !!

Yes, the exchange rate of cryptocurrencies is important, especially if you want to trade bitcoin-altcoin.
But, it's better to buy bitcoin at $16K, waiting it rise to $18K and then buy more xrp, you will get more profits at the moment as xrp price seems on bulls run across the global exchanges, maybe can reach $5 in 2018. On the other hand, bitcoin price seems not increase significantly in the last few days but tend to decline. When the time comes, xrp will fall and the funds will be back to bitcoin again.
