maybe what Im going to say will be dismissed as stupid idea. But I was thinking about creating some kind of manual for nemsters on how to proceed when you want to get service owner on board. Yes I see some negative preception of such ways (like I dont want to create an economic sect or net marketing or being Avon lady), still if I would like to get service owners to accept NEM, It would be very helpful for me to have some papers with advices and answers to potential questions or concerns they could have. Not everyone is naturally talented in persuation.
I really like this idea. The main problem is just the penetration of NEM. It will only work for online shops for anywhere in the near future. That is not something people want to hear, but it is reality. Even with BTC and its penetration, the businesses accepting BTC are few and far in between. Bars can work ok in tech hubs, because it will pull in extra customers. Where else though ? I few geeks who run businesses catering to the few geeks who want to use BTC. (WHich I consider myself to be one of) How do you build market penetration/demand ? Having a dozen guys respond to messages on here with hype are not the answer. Doge seems to have done it by the tipping culture. I think that is something easy to implement. We need to work with small amounts .. get it flowing around. I suggested a game of some sort. Easily said though and very hard to do successfully. |

The discussion of wanting to get rid of fiat is not one worth having. EVERYONE is on the same page.
We need to discuss how to make NEM grow.
I think we should build upon the strength of NEM and that is the distribution.
This wasn't "fairly" distributed only to people who invested in mining equipment.
It wasn't "fairly" distributed to only 20 something stake holders.
It is something new and different. We have 3000 unique stake holders minus a few duplicates that slipped through.
We need to build on that reputation. Distribution ! Lets distribute it further !
How is THIS accomplished? No one wants to give up too much of their stake. That is understandable, but this the "New Economy Movement". It is meant for everyone. Not select people who invested in mining equipment. Not few who got in early. Lets grow on this strength.
If we could make a phone app and give away 1k NEM to every phone # who installed it, I would easily donate 10 maybe 20% to this.
Maybe this app could be tied into some GPS utilizing game ? Lets get the name out there and get wallets that work for anyone at any time. This does not need to be an internet currency. Lets do something different. NXT asset exchange is neat, but NEM doesn't need to compete with that for now. NEM needs to win hearts and minds. Lets do that first !

So you are saying your "rent" is worth 450 days worth of food. Damn mate, if my rent is as much as expensive as your rent in that Iran I would have died years ago  The cost of property is staggering here, so most people have to pay rents. I have to pay almost 85$ each month for the rent. Same goes for bills, the bills are really expensive too but food on the other hand is really cheap here. You wouldn't starve to death if you manage to live and sleep on the streets. I really can't believe it but "lightlord" has given me all the money I needed to pay off my rent and I'll be owing him forever for literally saving my life. Now with the rent paid off, I can manage the food and other things myself although it will be a very little bit hard but the main problem was solved. I really can't ever thank him enough for literally saving my life. Thank you lightlord! I hope you stay away from gambling for the rest of your life. If NEM could create a system to transfer small amounts of NEM via SMS that would be the greatest ever. Just make sure it only works with small amounts etc. I don't know how other services do it, but if it can be done, then NEM really really needs to consider it.
All this asset exchange type features are not going to do anything for NEM at this point. NEM needs to start out attacking different markets. Small payments via SMS would be great. If you keep the amounts small then it should help mitigate security issues.

Having to utilize dial-up would make it hard to make money on the internet as most of the internet isn't really even usable with such a slow link.

It really truly sucks being broke like that, but I've been broke numerous times in life but I don't recall ever having an overdrawn bank account. You will find that rules of logic in debate are universally agreed upon. That is why there can exist things like college debating teams, which have winners, and losers. Ad hominem, which you mostly use, puts you squarely in the "debate loser category". Regarding the call of a false equivalence, you can't just claim it is not so. The burden of proof is on you - you need to go read the definition think up why it isn't a FE and state your reasons for others to review. When the comparison is the (commonly used) 2+2=5 equivalence argument you will not be able to do this. Logical fallacies actually work pretty well in politics, and even in common speech, but on text driven Internet forums they ring false. And that's where we are. AGW by the way is a common place for discussion of logical arguments because so many of them by the true believers are not at all logical (and yes, a smaller but recognizable group are not logical by the skeptics of the global warming theory-that-is-not-a-theory). tl;dr Are you the logic professor? There is no such thing as "settled science." Science is a constantly evolving body of knowledge that by its very nature should demand an ever higher burden of proof.
They called the lipid hypothesis settled science, there was a time when it was a "scientific fact" that the smallest particles in the universe were atoms. It was very recently that it was "settled science" that no particle of matter could be in two places at the same time. All of these "facts" have been tested and shown to be either over simplifications or just wrong.
Any one that calls something "settled science" is trying to shut down a conversation. The next step is to label those that disagree and then to isolate them.
I don't if man made global warming actually occurs. I am no scientist, but i do know that using intellectual and economic fascism to silence opposition is not science.
Yes, people are allowed to have any and all opinions. Just like others are allowed to ignore fringe elements in order to be productive. The simple fact is ignoring this issue will have exceptionally grave consequences if man-made global warming is true. These guys want to wait for "proof" which will only exist after the climate and ecosystem as we know it has been destroyed.
