So I say that if we want to meet up this weekend lets just lock in October 7th at 4pm in Rancho Cucamonga. Once I know what IIRC is I will contact either them or Yard House for a reservation so that we can get a spot. Sounds like people would be ok with outside so I will get a spot outside so we can drink, watch football on the tv and talk. Between now and Thursday if you want and think you can come to Rancho Cucamonga that afternoon let us know here on the form and that way we can see see what we get. Now I am just trying to get this set up, once we are there basically we need to bring our topics that we want to talk about and go from there so nothing formal. Anyone who wants to take the lead there can I am just want to see if we can do this and then see what we can talk about. So with that said expect to be there an hour or so for drinks, food and anything else. Hell I will sweeten the pot, I will buy an appetizer for the group, see now you have to show up

My best idea would be to have a water cooled rig and have the reservoir in the fridge/freezer (obviously use anti-freeze if using a freezer). This would dramatically drop temps without killing the fridge/freezer. This would eliminate most of the condensation problems.
That is interesting. I thought about putting my rig in a cooler, wine cabinet or something like that and what I could not get past is the condensation and or the risk of being to humid and then frying something. I had an AC unit in a server rack but the cost to run it was too much. The AC unit was killing the heat but it was also killing my profits so I killed it . If you do the water cooled rig with a reservoir in the fridge post some pics.

I think the article is a bit misleading. Quoted exchange rate in the article was traded in unofficial markets. I've just checked exchange rate for official rate of USD/IRR on several websites ( www.forexticket.co.uk, www.oanda.com). All of them show the same current exchange rate around 12,28 Iranian Rial per USD Dollar and this exchange rate is pretty stable since February 2012. Of course unofficial markets are reflecting the results of the current sanctions and economic sabotage by US. Still, Central Bank of Iran is preserving stable exchange rate to control economic situation, and not to give up for US pressure. Ya I am not a big fan of the majority of news outlets but I posted this because someone else noted Iran popping with bitcoin activity. It will be interesting to see if this keeps up and if bitcoin becomes more of an option versus people hording other currencies and or running the boarder to trade goods. Not sure what is going to happen but the more news about Iran the more something is going on.

Just finished this build, I may be looking for 5.56 soon. Hey, nice setup. I have almost the same thing. Will get a shot (picture) off to compare. Can you give a breakdown on the specs that went into yours. It is like looking at mine but with a few less options and with some green.

Butterfly Labs reveals final performance specifications for it's revolutionary ASIC hardware.
BitForce Jalapeno - 4.5gh/s @ 4.5w BitForce Single SC - 60 GH/s @ 60w BitForce MiniRig SC - 1,500 GH/s @ 1,500w
Power figures are +/- 10% of those listed while we finish optimizing our power subsystem.
NEW An as yet named 'Little Single' device which will hash at a rate of 30 GH/s and cost USD $649.00.
You may notice that these performance figures exceed that of our previously published specification by approximately 50%. Our intention was to eventually over deliver while also being conservative during development. We had planned to reserve this performance increase for a future firmware update and was one method we planned to use to protect our customers in the event of a price war. However, due to the maturity of our development and competition in the market, we felt it was time to clarify what customers will actually receive both in speed and particularly in power consumption so they can properly evaluate their options and make good decisions. We hope it's now easier to understand the closed lip approach of our ASIC line product development.
A pledge to our customers: Butterfly Labs has always been committed to our customers. With the transition to ASIC from FPGA, we offered a 100% buyback program on the purchase price of your FPGA units towards the purchase of one of our ASIC units. This is an offer currently unmatched by any other manufacturer. People have asked why would we do this? We do this because our mission is to stand behind our customers and preserve the value of their hardware investment through all market changes, now and in the future. Simply put, you can count on us to protect your mining investment.
In summary, all current orders are automatically 4.5 GH/s - 60 GH/s or 1.5 TH/s devices. You need do nothing, just wait for delivery.
Our Value pledge: As always, our focus has been on offering the most competitive product, both in terms of initial price but also the most competitive TCO in the industry. Our current power consumption targets for our first generation ASIC products are approximately 1 GH per watt, far and away the lowest power consuming units available at any price. Not only will our products perform faster than any other product currently available, it will also cost less to run now and in the future. As with our FPGA products, when the time comes for our second generation ASIC products, we will not forget our customers and will make every effort to transition you, the customer, to the second generation ASIC as easily, quickly and in the most cost effective manner as possible.

Anyone noticed it? Facebook CGI pics, iteration on the forums, events so that they make you lose time discussing who has the right to go on their HQ, etc.
Why have they started to care only now? What are they afraid of? What changed? Was that the strategy since the beginning?
If you translate the schematics for the ASIC design BFL is showing it turns out to be a cookbook! Wow, that is an old pull there. FUNNY Don't forget the mint jelly, oh the mint jelly will go good

Hi HDSolar, This is cool so a question, are you willing to work on ideas provided for other charts or would you rather just work on stuff as you think of it? I only ask because if I think of some charting ideas I would like to see I would be happy to share the ideas if you want them but if good then happy to use what is developed.
It depends a bit on your ideas Seriously, I can't really promise an implementation of your ideas b/c development of the site has to come after my kids and my day job, so I only have a few hours a week for more features. That said, if your ideas (or variations thereof) would technically fit into the existing software I would be glad to put them on my TODO list. That is cool, just wanted to get an understanding. Trust me I understand and I will PM you if I think of some stuff.

I've talked to TuxAvant and met CryptoCommodity, but I've got a couple things in very early "thought experiment" phases that I'd like to get rolling here in Vegas and I wanted to know who my local Bitcoiners are?
I know we had a regular meetup going a while back that I somehow never got out to - since it's on the opposite side of town - but it seems to have disappeared. Anything still going on in Vegas?
I am there every month for work or visiting familly, can I get an honorary spot?

Hey, I'm in LA... what goes on at these meetups?
Don't know, I don't think there has been a So Cal meet but someone correct me if I am wrong. I would expect at this meet up that we could talk about what we think is going on with BTC, see if there are ops to work together on stuff, share idea or at worst have a beer and share war stories.

I am about ready to give it a shot and pull down a RPI just because when the difficulty goes up I am not sure I will still want to deal with my video card production so then I won't really need to have a full time CPU for this and if an RPI can do it then why not. I have not seen anyone yet hook up a bunch of BFL singles and or a mini-rig to an RPI but like it was said above won't know until we try. If someone has or does try this please share because I think this will become a popular option.

I did some rough calculations based on our sales figures and at least for the case of BFL, we will not cause a 10x increase. I can't speak for the other manufacturers numbers, of course.
Pretty much. The way I originally calculated it out, the 10x comes from not only the preorders posted by BFL, but also from other ASIC ventures, and all over the course of 12 months or so. I think I'll rework my numbers at the end of October/November, assuming more data is put out to the public (such as raw numbers on preorders/sales from BFL and other ASIC companies). That is great and please share, this is not easy and allot of SWAG going on but I think that the majority opinion on this type of discussion give a stronger picture going forward.

Cool, I am sure others will see then and let us know. For now lets offer the following ideas for days and times with this local: 1. October the 3rd at 6:30 pm Wednesday 2. October the 7th at 4:00 pm Sunday 3. October the 8th at 6:30 pm Monday So these are some idea dates and times that I know I can support but I also know some of you can do weekdays easier then weekends, that is why I put up the dates and times the way I did. Now if you like the location (by the way it is at a major shopping mall with a bunch of other places so we are not stuck if it is not what the majority wants) but the times listed are not great then offer something else you think might work for most of us to attend. If we can get this figured out by say this Saturday then I can call down and lock in an area where we can all sit and talk and those that can make it do and those that don't can make the next one. This location has many highways coming in and or around so getting in and out should be easy for most. Lets see if we can make a meeting happen
|
|
|
I would but I can't be there for the whole conference and so I would not be interested in buying a ticket only to attend for a day. I would be interested if it is ok to come to a meeting held for non-ticket holders who would like to talk about regional Bitcoin ops.

I see they've pushed back from October to November for release dates as well.
Fuck, not another facebook page. I get why they did it but man I hate facebook.
