241  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: June 21, 2014, 12:25:38 AM
So why pay for the infrastructure involved in having a pool? How does that benefit them?

I'm only working on my own theory but I calculate that the amount of fees they get selling nmc and others to btc might add up to enough to sustain a profit. I'm guessing (and like you) would like to know this is not some government run endless pit of money experiment that will eventually go belly up...
242  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: June 21, 2014, 12:21:08 AM
No other pool operates like GHash.IO.  I'm fine with them selling the hash to cluless buyers or people who just like to buy and flip.  The lack of self control as they approach or surpass 51% is what is disgusting.  Clearly there are enough mindless zombies in the BTC community to push them over 51%.  That does not mean that the owners should say it's not our fault we're successful...

And your analysis of how ghash operates is...?
243  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: June 21, 2014, 12:16:25 AM
Gh.io does merged mining of NMC, DVC, IXC, pays transaction fees and has no pool fees.

Cex allows easy trading of NMC and IXC into BTC.

All these factors support the popularity of GH.io and there is no other pool to match that.

How do you think they can offer fee-free mining? How is it paid for?

You can't post such an open question without telling us how you think it works ogofti...

I'm not completely sure, although flound1129 brings up some good points. Regardless, a business is not going to be successful if it doesn't make money. If you're not paying an open fee at a pool then the pool is either making money from you some other way or is subsisting on donations.

I thought maybe the transaction fees from trading?

Who are these people that are worried about paying 1 or 2% fees to a pool?! And when you mine on Eligius, I bet you don't make a donation either.

Do you not leave tips at restaurants too?

Stable, reliable, TRUSTABLE pools provide a needed service. Pay them!

Some people (me) leave a tip at restaurants only if the service is good. Other pools need to give a 'good feeling' when we mine with them. I'm not sure I get that good feeling at the moment... And before anyone [e.g bitpop the depressed] jumps down my throat - I don't mine at ghash...

There is an active chart on the genesis block page         https://tradeblock.com/mining/

Yes I like that too mudb

My question has still not been answered. I think I will take it over to the Bitcoin thread.

All I wanted to know was what percentage the difficulty increased.

Plain and simple.
Didn't need all the other stuff but thanks, I guess.  Roll Eyes
So, if anyone has the answer to my very basic question, that would be sweet.

Otherwise, yeah...happy mining.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

scroll down - you will see % increases over time...

[edit] or you could work on your basic google search ability - "bitcoin difficulty increases" - Smiley

Thanks for providing that link.

Yes, I could use my Google prowess or I could strike up convo with fellow miners that happen to be mining on the same pool  Grin

Just kidding Smiley - but that bitcoin wisdom link is very useful I found...

Wait, is proof of work in the form of a captcha required to spam this thread now?

Does anybody else regret ever posting a question here?

Can't you just stop "watching" this thread, or delete your posts here if you regret it so much? Tongue

Is there an easy eay to find all of your posts in a particular topic so you can delete them?

guys, in your calculation i'm not seeing any reference of a customs fee, that in this case is a pain in the ass for a decent ROI. At least let's check that bitmain is declaring low values (like the amazing 120 USD computer gaming gateway Cheesy )

no customs to the usa for this item.

Well at least you have a better chance of a decent ROI than a lot us us then.  Tongue

Even at 0.9 BTC I wouldn't be jumping at it, due to the extra charges just to get it into the UK.

We (Europe, or infact UK) need a trade agreement with China like the USA has - no import tax... If I was USA I could buy more kit cheaper - how is that fair?

[edit]

Today I paid £680 ($1155.17, EUR 850.42) for 3 S2's - import tax...

So to sum it up - the price is bound to be disappointing - but we will pay it at all costs...

LOL, your comment made me laugh  Cheesy

Hysteria seems to be building ... let's all see what the price point is ... and how the reliability is ... but it does look like a 'super cloned' S1, a miner that has been quite simply bullet proof for Bitmain.

Made me laugh too when I re-read it Smiley - let me say this tho' if it wasn't for bitmain's products I wouldn't have got back into mining. He could keep us interested or lose our interest in a single blow... Tricky waters...
258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 18, 2014, 09:06:47 PM
The S2 is still 3.5 BTC.  I think anyone thinking this will be $1k is pipe dreaming.
Exactly
And people dont forget the Rocket Box requires 4 - 6 pin PCI's, that means  you will have to buy at least 750 PSU to get 4x6pin pci's ($100) and a Raspberry PI and an SD card so the Rocket Box really costs alot more than 1btc.

So to sum it up - the price is bound to be disappointing - but we will pay it at all costs...

Could some of these be pointed here for testing?Huh
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=656461.0

Could be - or just could be people adding new kit - like me - added 3.6 TH/s to slush today. It's painful when you add new kit during a drought - but I'm patient Smiley

Any guess on price?
